Virgil nods, "Yea, we found the staircase. B-but we'd have to take out the trap in the way." He plucks out one of the thorns that he'd missed in his first once over, "It triggered from farther away than I would have thought.... There might be another way through but I'm not sure." He shows Fennekin the map, and asks her, "D-do you really think Simisear will be fine?"

Lewis cocked his head at that. "What does it matter if Simisear gets hurt, he's got the supplies so he can patch himself up just fine, not to mention he's fully evolved, so he could probably take whatever the dungeon has to throw at him. As for that trap, I bet Fenny could blast it away no problem"

Kyria tries to copy the floor map to her device as they are doing this, she looks over at the group. "I can take a trap, no biggy, then tear it apart! We really should get out of here though." Rather than her normal 'let me at 'em' attitude she seems genuinely concerned right now.

Melanie gives Mawile a skeptical look. "You're already injured. If we can't take it out from a distance, I may as well be the one to walk into it; I'm hardly even hurt." Mostly thanks to everyone else holding the ferals' attention in the last battle.
She looks around at the group with a sigh. "You're right, though. We need to get her out of here. Let's get going before more ferals come along and make the decision for us. Which way?" After all, she was still asleep when Spoink turned up; for all she knows he came up from behind them.

"Ok then...just follow me."
He leads the group back the way he had come. Luckily there was only one split in the path so he could hardly get lost. Stopping well short of the trap and trying to point it out, "It's right up there. J-Just be careful, it stings."

Kyria didn't want anyone else to be hurt, so with little thought she charges ahead turn the hall towards the trap, only for the eevee to jump in front of her and take the entirety of her momentum. She could barely slow herself down before slamming into him with a comedic sounding bang, good thing she did not push them both into the trap.
Edit: combat roll is pointless, ignore it please. Combat roll i assume I'll have to do to destroy the trap, using an AP xzdf2T7m4d6+1

Lewis barely had time to blink, was the mawile insane? The Explorer's Guild Janitor only had a split second to react, and in an instant history had repeated itself, with Lewis seeing triple, the only question is, did it work?

With the suicidal scissorhead contained, Lewis turned back to the resident pyrotechnician.
"Fenny, would you be so kind as to remove our little obstacle?"

A moment after Lewis intercepts the charging Mawile, a volley of thorns pepper the ground where she would have been had she carried on. "Um, I'll try," Fennekin says, looking at the thorns a little nervously as they sink into the ground. After a moment, she pounces forwards and spits a bolt of fire at the main clump of thorns. Though it singes them badly and they catch fire, the vines still hurl a barrage of thorns at her. Thankfully, she manages to dive forwards, faceplanting somewhat unceremoniously on the ground but otherwise unharmed as the thorns fly over her head. Lewis furiously stamped his forepaws in applause.
"Oh my Goat, Fenny, that was incredible! Where did you learn to do that?"
The amateur explorer remembered the dire reality of the situation before he got a responce, and just kept moving forward, giving the fire type a nod of approval

"Pretty impressive," Melanie murmurs with an approving nod. Fennekin's ability to dodge the spitting thorns looks like the sort of thing that comes in very handy.
Then she wanders over and attempts to smack Mawile's shoulder lightly. "Self-sacrifice is admirable, but that was just stupid. I already told you, if we couldn't do it from a distance, I was willing to take the trap out. You're already hurt."

Kyria groans, people should stop making foolish charges in front of her, she could have taken that. She looks up to see the fennekin take it out, sighing "good job, but the time for celebration and praise is not now, let's get out of here." Kyria looks over to the cubone, "I would rather be hurt than have any of you be injured, besides, I'm a steel type, I resist, like, everything." She walks over to the stairs, and if no ferals are around, uses her explorers device to leave with the party. Even Kyria gets tired sometimes.

Fennekin seems a little embarrassed by the praise, looking down a little shyly. "Thanks," she says after a moment, getting to her feet and brushing herself off a little before following after the others. As it turns out, though, there are ferals around, just on the other side of the stairs. Three of them, to be precise, all snoozing away despite Lewis' earlier shout. OOCIf you want to get to the stairs without waking them up, you can make Stealth checks.

At least someone had thought better of just charging in there. Sure Kyria's coat might be tough but those were still some pointy thorns. Virgil gasps as Fenny narrowly dodges the barrage heading towards her. Why couldn't he be that lucky? And then he notices the ferals snoozing in the room. He glances at Kyria, before saying to the others "We can't get to the stairs without waking them up. Do you guys think you can hold them off while I get Joltik to the stairs?"

Melanie grips her staff tightly as she considers the situation. "Three of them. Even with you going ahead that's still two to one, and we just need to hold them off long enough. You go first, I'll be right behind you."

Virgil was a little surprised there was no argument, this must be a pretty good idea then. "Alright, let's go." He tries to hop as quietly as possible. Ready to book it, well bounce it, to the stairs if at the first sign that one of the mon waking up.

Melanie gave Spoink a few moments to get ahead, hoping that even if she woke the wilds up he'd have time to race for the stairs, before padding after him as quietly as she could. If she makes it all the way to the stairs, she'll wait there for the others rather than going up immediately - if and when the ferals wake up, she wants to be able to keep the stairs clear. Kyria follows after the cubone, knowing full well rushing in is a bad idea, but she is ready to charge if things go sour and she needs to guard virgil, she's never been the quiet person and has always faced situations head on, but she tries her best to stay silent, or as silent as the berserker could be. Spend an AP, because its a really good idea when you don't have AP skills Stealth dnUMzOGF1d6+1

As the group make their way quietly towards the stairs, the dozing Pokemon seem to not notice the intrusion, and the party quietly make their way down the branch-and-vine staircase. Quietly, that is, until it comes to Lewis and Melanie. As they approach, with everyone else already descending ahead of them, the feral Pokemon begin to stir, a few faint growls and assorted noises echoing down the 'stairs' and alerting the others to what's going on above them. Chimchar, hearing this, proceeds to climb faster. Chimchar Stealth (+AP): oO8_2PsG4d6+3 Fennekin Stealth (+AP): 3d6+1 Numel Stealth (+AP): 2d6+2
It's a Shift Action to enter or leave the stairs. While in the stairs, you are out of the battle. Everyone except Lewis and Melanie (and the ferals) are already in the stairs, and your positions represent where you will emerge after taking a Shift Action to do so. You can of course choose to simply stay in the stairs. (As Chimchar is doing.)
