Branches spring up around you, encircling the four of you in a sphere. It looks like they're trying to separate you as well, but every time a branch comes between two of you it recoils. After a few moments, they retreat back into the ground and disappear
As they depart, there's a moment of disorientation and suddenly you find yourself somewhere else.
You're in a field that is probably half the size of the town square, the sun shining in a cloudless sky overhead. The grass is neatly mown to a couple of inches in height, with the exception of occasional brightly-coloured flowers that protrude up through the grass, though how they escaped the mowing that has faultlessly affected every blade of grass in the field is anyone's guess. In addition to these flowers, there is one other plant that immediately stands out to you; at first glance it could be mistaken for a sapling except for the orange bean-like berry hanging from a branch
At the edges of the field, the grass becomes a lot more untamed, rising up far above your head and becoming a lot darker in hue. There are three paths cut through the dark grass - one at either corner of the field and another just in front of you.
As you get your bearings, there's a faint chime from your Exploration Gadgets and a calm, automated voice starts to speak from some of them, echoing around the field. "Welcome to your first Mystery Dungeon. We at the Explorer's Guild hope you will have a successful exploration and will endeavour to provide you with useful and relevant information." Virgil and Kyria, of course, have already had to put up with the irritating 'help' menu that has been so usefully provided into the Gadgets.
What do you do?

Virgil was glad that his gadget kept the hedges at bay. He didn't want his fur to get any more mussed up than it already had. He takes careful look around the field, there could be traps anyw..Oooh flowers! Virgil shakes his head trying to focus but does stop for a second to admire one of the closer ones. "So which way do we go now?" He looks between the three paths. "They all look the same...maybe the left one?"

After lending his opinion, everything refocused for the eevee. He started thinking out loud to himself, too absorbed in his situation to think quietly
"I... I did it. I'm finally an actual, honest to Goat adventurer... Let's hope mom waits long enough for me to enjoy it before she kills me."

What.... Virgil says as the Eevee spews some nonsense, I guess the right one is just as good as the left. He didn't want to argue the matter it wasn't a big deal but they would have to get searching. "Wait. You aren't supposed to be here? I thought you said you were an Explorer?" And then he remembers that he's been slighted and frowns a little

"Lewis shied away at the withering look from his eleventh hour ally. Naturally, realization followed like the rising sun. The Artistic Eevee pulled out his pack and gave his pearly compatriot the standard once over, taking in the details for just long enough to not be creepy. Then, he turned to his parchment and his ink, held down the corners with his paws to understand his boundaries, and speed painted the spoink.
"Sorry for the wait, you make a pretty good muse" he said, sliding the finished product to the fab-tastic fashionista.

While going through his pack, Lewis found his beige colored pouch, filled with circular pastry discs sprinkled with granola.
"Hey guys, we don't want to go into this thing overwhelmed. These cookies are actually packed with vitamins and stuff. You should have some"
With that he left the pouch open for anyone to grab one, and devoured a power bar cookie in a delicious swoop

Melanie's familiar with the Gadgets' idea of 'help', too, of course. She smacks her hand against the side of her own somewhat-unreliable Gadget irritably. "Stupid thing's reset itself again," she mutters. It's always impossible when it does this, she's going to have to listen to it go through all the beginner advice again.
Her beads rattle slightly as her gaze shifts between Eevee and Spoink while they argue. Lovely, the artist kid's a rookie. That explains a few things, like who it was doing the yelling when the vines almost closed on her tail. The vegetation in Mystery Dungeons always creeps her out a little.
While Eevee assuages Spoink's ego with a portrait, Melanie's gaze settles on the fruit hanging from the tree. She pads through the neatly-cut grass to pick it from the tree. Berries are useful things, usually. She glances over her shoulder when she hears Eevee expounding on the cookies. "Were those made by the same Pokémon who was yelling at us when we came in here?"

"Nah, but she taught me how. Do you want one? Not to toot my own horn but it's pretty tasty for health food. That said, all a-snack who's going to snack, the longer this takes the longer she has to work herself up."
With that, the eevee packed up everything except for the cookies and waited "patiently" near the right/south-easternmost hall (K 14), tail twitching nervously.

The exchange between Cubone and Eevee is largely lost on Virgil. He's too busy admiring the Eevee's work. Whatever snub there might have been was forgotten.Oh, thank you! He starts to roll it up but thinks better, the ink was probably still too wet... Oh right! They were supposed to be exploring. "So we decided on the right path? Or did you have objections Mawile?" Virgil is more than happy to follow the Eevee's plan for the moment as he carries the painting awkwardly.

Kyria gives Virgil a sideways glance, she knew Virgil knows how little she cares for formalities, before she takes one of the cookies and grins at the eevee. "Thanks! I don't care which way we go, this is ganna be fun!" she seems to fidget in place, not one to stand still and wait. She wants to go now!

The Eevee nodded in understanding, and then inspiration struck anew. He unraveled his pack yet again, and dipped his tail in the ink for what felt like half a minute, drenching his tail to the base, then stowing the ink.
"Alright guys, I'll take point to keep an eye out for traps, and don't lean to close to the all, wet ink and all."
With that, Lewis started down the path, trusting his allies to follow behind.

Melanie returns from the tree with the berry in hand. "Looks like an Occa Berry. Could be handy, but not for me personally." She offers it to the fidgety Mawile. "You've got more to worry about from Fire-types, maybe you should have it."
Since Eevee's offering, she'll snag one of the cookies before things get packed up to munch on it as they travel along. "A baker and an artist both? Pretty talented. What made you want to be an Explorer?" After all, he could probably make a good living - and avoid the wrath of what she's assuming is his mother - with his skills.
She'll follow his lead for now, and steps to one side to let the others in front of her. "I'll bring up the rear." She's willing to bet she moves slowest of the group, and she's sturdy enough to weather an attack from behind.

Lewis' plan of 'take the rightmost unexplored path' is echoed a few moments later by Melanie's malfunctioning Exploration Gadget, which has apparently calculated that the four of you are lost already. Perhaps as you might expect if you know anything about the advice offered by those Gadgets, this advice turns out to be...not exactly ideal. You're walking for a few minutes, though a rather circuitous and winding path, when you find yourselves back at the room you just left. So are some other Pokemon. A Zigzagoon is jumping up in the air, trying to get at a branch of (purely nutritious) berries, while a Pidove sits on the branch, pecking away at them as if the Zigzagoon isn't even there. For a few moments, you might think that it's just a normal - if slightly out of place - situation. Until the Pidove lets out an alarmed squawk, and the Zigzagoon ceases its jumping and spins around to look at you. And in the eyes of both Pokemon is an expression familiar to Virgil and Kyria, but unknown outside of stories to the rest of you; a complete lack of any higher reasoning. Judging from the growling now emanating from the Zigzagoon, it obviously thinks you are intruders in its 'domain.' To make matters worse, a rustling from behind you heralds the arrival of two small Pokemon who had apparently been following you. Perception DC10And as if that wasn't bad enough, you can hear something - or rather, a group of somethings - approaching from the path behind the Zigzagoon and Pidove. OOCAs with Franzeska, you all recognise Wild Pokemon when you see them. Kyria and Virgil of course have first-hand experience.

Kyria gets pumped, wild pokemon already? Lucky for her! "Its time for a fight!" Kyria says super excited, running up to Zigzagoon menacingly, right before she gets to it she leaps into the air, spinning around to slam it with her large set of jaws, you can hear the air whistle as she swings. A loud crash can be heard as she slams in a powerful display of force, waiting for the rest to aid her in her assault.

Kyria's blow hammers into the Zigzagoon, which looks rather dazed by the attack. But it doesn't fall, instead backing off with a yelp and digging its forepaws into the ground to hurl a cloud of dirt into the Mawile's face. OOCZigzagoon takes 2 Injuries and loses 1 Defence Combat Stage.
Zigzagoon's Shift: Disengage.

Virgil is fine with being in the middle of the group, less chance of being jumped that way. He looks around in surprise as they enter a room Weren't we just here, he thinks to himself. Then he notices the pair of mon in front of them, surely they hadn't got lost too. "Oh no..." He says under his breathe as the feral look in their eyes. He winces as Kyria crashes into the Zigzagoon, "B-be careful. These guys aren't...reasonable." So saying he decides to take on the Pidove. Kyria could handle the Zigzagoon by herself. He could distract again. His pearl glows and, with a cliched smack, a fancy pink heart swirls at the Pidove Oh Right Perception to see the things.S6EDp|r93d6

The two small Pokemon that were following you begin making their way down the grassy path towards you at a brisk pace, while the Pidove gets a heart to the face. It manages to dive aside from Lewis's blast of sand, but in so doing faceplants into the nearby hedge, which judging from the sound of impact is a lot more solid than a hedge has any right to be. Kyria growls as she wipes her eyes, she glances around scowling before she starts spinning in a ferocious way, an illusion of a dragon forming around her as she does so. Kyria becomes much faster and stronger, an aura of power emanates and her growl gains a second tone as she yells at the pidove.
