"Oh..." Eve muttered aloud, processing the information and then... "Okay! Time to wing it!".
... Oh boy...
Well, on the bright side, since Nalkeya wasn't here, then that must mean the gym was safe to walk through, right? Eve carelessly stepped into the gym and looked around for an obvious direction to go in, trusting that none of the plethora of trapdoors wouldn't activate.

Whether she is aware of it or not, even if Nalkeya were here Eve would not be dropped down any trapdoors, as that is done only on an individual challenger's first visit to the Gym. Standing next to the couch, seemingly 'speaking' to Gym Trainer Couch Potato (aka Mary), is an unfamiliar brunette. Contrary to Nalkeya's usual provocative attire, this newcomer wears only a pair of jeans and a tank top, both in mixed shades of dark blue and purple. Despite her attempts at communication, she seems unable to draw forth any sort of response or acknowledgement of her words from Mary. Then again, Mary has always been a bit of an enigma to anyone who visits this Gym. The two times Eve has 'met' her were as an official Gym Trainer while Atropa was away, and then as Stand-In Gym Leader while Nalkeya was absent for a time (an event that seems commonplace). Atropa is reclining in another of the lounge area's bits of random furniture, texting away with someone (presumably the mysterious boyfriend she claims to have).
Of course, Eve notices not a bit of this; only knowing that the flustered brunette must be the 'Rydian' that the notice mentioned.
Choose an Option
1) Approach the gathering quietly, trying not to trip on air.
2) Trip randomly on air.
3) Call out to the gathering as you approach.
4) ??

Eve suddenly finds herself in a wholly unexpected location. Well, sort of. She can still see the room, but the view seems much smaller now. She feels strangely comfortable, but her body feels...off.

Compan-Eve-on stared in mild confusion for a solid few seconds. Something was clearly off from the get-go but... she almost felt scared to move... or was it that she couldn't move? Her arms didn't feel like arm. Even her legs didn't feel like legs. And there was an extra appendage on her butt? Her point of view had suddenly shifted and now it suddenly felt like she was looking into the room through something. Turning her head, Eve felt strangely bald... but also far more hairy and top heavy than she should be, the shorter-than-her-hair fur giving the bald feeling while the thick mane and long ears giving the confusingly contrasting sensations.
Her "Huh?" came out as a "Com?". Eve heard the voice that wasn't her voice at the same time she happened to look up and see her face... but it wasn't in a mirror...
Oh dear. Eve was pretty sure she had said that she would have preferred to study Eevees than turn into one, at least for the time being...

Having little better to do, Eve tried to bang her way out of the Pokeball.
Meanwhile, Vee, in Eve's body, tilted his head curiously as he spun in a circle, acquainting himself to his new circumstances.

It takes a minute, but Eve manages to force her way out of the Poke Ball and sees Vee turning in a circle for some reason.

Seeing her body turning, Eve tries to order it to stop. Although, all that comes out are a string of Companeon sounds, so who knows if that does anything.

The Companeon sounds seem to attract attention, and the brunette walks over to you (Vee in Eve's body).
"Oh, I'm sorry. How long have you been standing here? I didn't mean to ignore you."

Companeon looks at the brunette and tilts his (Eve's) head the other way before looking around for his trainer. When he sees Eve's (Companeon's) body, however, he starts and makes the kind of noise a Pokemon who had never spoken a human world would make when they're in a speech-capable human's body. Intrigued, Vee goes down on all fours to examine what appears to be his body.
Eve, meanwhile, was now yapping at Vee to stand back up! Back up! Nooooo! Vee was embarrassing her noow. What must this weird brunette person be thinking? Turning to the human now, Eve tries to explain, pointing with paw and tail between herself and Vee in an attempt to convey that the two had switched bodies.

The brunette merely looks confused and nervous. "Eheheh..umm.. what a...cute Pokemon you have." She kneels down and gently pats Eve (in Vee's body) on the head. It seems clear she isn't understanding what Eve is trying to portray.

Eve pouts as she's patted. No no nooooo. She resorts to pawing in the air, trying to air-write letters in reverse (the right way for the brunette).
Vee sticks her nose at Eve and sniffs. Yes, this smelled like him. He puts a paw (actually Eve's hand) atop of Eve's back to confirm that, yes, this certainly felt like a real body, despite all the garbled nonsense it was spouting.

Eve cries internally as she makes random Companeon noises while shaking off Vee. Vee, the well-behaved little thing, obediently stops sniffing and sits on his haunches and watches in mild confusion as Eve darts for her tote bag, which had been dropped in the confusion and rummages around in there until she finds her laptop. She paws it out and struggles to open it without opposable thumbs, but eventually succeeds. Hopefully before the brunette decides to completely ignore this strange phenomena, Eve manages to paw the keys of her laptop to open up a word document and begin typing.

The brunette does stop when the strange, extra-fluffy eevee pulls a laptop out of its human's bag and somehow not only turns it on, but manages to open a text application and type something with cute little paws. She peers at the text closely.
"You... switched bodies with your Pokemon?" Her expression is curious/confused/wat

Eve nods extremely vigorously. Yes! Yes! That's exactly what's happening so please don't take any of that seriously! That being, of course, how Eve's body was sitting like a very well-behaved Growlithe as Vee waited for his turn.

Eve shrugs, or does her best version of a shrug when stuck in an unfamiliar, quadrupedal body. She did have that idea that maybe this was something the lab did to her without her consent, but she wasn't all that sure about it yet and she didn't want to make someone jump to rash conclusions.
After some thought, though, Eve decides to do it anyways. She dives headfirst into her bag once more, this time to pull out her phone. She pats at the phone, and after several attempts, manages to get her email open and then open that to the email from the lab about pkmn hybridization. She points to this and shrugs again, offering it as a suggestion, but not one that she's really too sure on.

Rydian frowns in confusion. "Why are you showing me a blank message?" She asks. When Eve looks at it, the message contents have been erased somehow. Despite it being in her inbox. All contents except for the subject line 'NDA'. Not long after that, there is a sudden vertigo, and Eve finds herself back in her own body.
