Tavi doesn't like that smack at all, but doesn't let it break his concentration - he flows smoothly into his next strike, spinning around to slash at the flopping fish with his other scalchop.

Dopekarp's powerful drop looks bad for a moment, but Tavi smoothly parries as he brings his scalchops up for another strike, deflecting the worst of the blow. He's still looking in bad shape, but if he hadn't blocked it there he might have gone down entirely. He brings both scalchops down at once now, using the momentum he's gathered through his sequential strikes to power through the harsh blow that shook him.

The wild flailing knocks Tavi down before he can complete his final strike, but Clay's not too disappointed - this is clearly no ordinary Magikarp. "Good job, buddy. Take a rest now. Kaa, time to show this thing who's boss!"
Kaa makes no sound as he appears on the field, merely stares down his nose superciliously at his floppity opponent. Clay's eyes narrow in concentration, and a greenish aura starts to gather behind his shoulders - and a brighter swathe of green light flows back from behind the Servine's leafy collar like a cape. Clay's voice drops into a hiss. "This guy doesn't mess around - give it the best you've got!"
Kaa makes a little "hmph!" sort of noise, then starts to twist and turn sinuously, whipping up a tempest of sharp-edged leaves around him that flies at the Karp!

Somehow, despite being hit by a super effective attack, Dopekarp is entirely unharmed but for a few grass stains and scuff marks on its shiny, red scales. John spends an AP to activate Pain Resistance! Dopekarp gains X Damage Reduction vs the triggering attack, where X is its Tick Value (9) multiplied by the # of injuries it currently has (4). 36 DR + 17 SDEF = mimimum damage. Ouch, Kaa doesn't like that at all. He wriggles himself from head to tail and throws out vines that are more like long-distance roots, sucking away Dopekarp's energy.

"What is that thing made of?" Clay frowns as he considers his options - down to his last Pokémon already. Maybe he should've gone for more...
Time to bring out the big guns - it's a risk, if Dopekarp or one of John's other Pokémon turns out to actually have a Water move, but Sandy is spectacularly ill-equipped to fight other Water-types, and Fan and Mufomono are both a little more fragile than he'd like to send up against the Magikarp from heck. "All right, Baigu, show this fish what you're made of!"
Like Kaa, Baigu doesn't let out a battle cry as she appears. She raises her bone in a silent salute instead as Clay reaches out with his spirit, making her skin shimmer golden for a moment. Then the Cubone charges Dopekarp with her head lowered, apparently intending to ram right into it with her skull helmet.

Somewhere in Dopekarp's flailing, it manages to get in a lucky blow right under the edge of Baigu's helmet, and she staggers back, clutching her throat. She finally makes a sound, a low, strangled growl, then lowers her head and charges at her opponent again!
