Bulwark turned a shade of red at Steven's comment, and Sirius gave him a smirk. This caused Bulwark to snarl through grit teeth, an expression returned by Sirius.
When Matt chimed in, Bulwark smirked. "Ron. Ro-ro-ron, Aron," he said smugly, turning his nose up at Sirius.
"O-lu?!," Sirius responded angrily, clenching his paws into little fists.
It was at this point that the poor little Klink had taken all it could. All of the yelling and arguing had left it very upset, and it cried even louder, its face scrunching up, and it unleashed a burst of electricity. Thanks to her insulated gauntlets, Julie was spared the shock. Matt, holding the Klink, was not so fortunate, and took the full brunt of it.
In the aftermath of the shock, the Klink looked surprised that it had happened at all. Bulwark rushed over to his trainer to make sure he was okay as the Klink looked at Matt. "Klink, Klin-Klink!," it said sadly, concern in its voice. It looked like it was about to start crying again, the electrical shock clearly unintentional.

"I'm... I'm sorry," Val stammers to Julie, contritely. "It's just... this wasn't at all what I was expecting when I signed up for this. I definitely did not wake up this morning expecting to have a few brushes with death today..."
Turning to Matt, she asks, a little tentatively, "Are you okay? Uh... I've got some medication and stuff in my bag, if you need some of that. Sometimes training gets a little harsh, so it's something I always carry around with me."

Matt stretched out his shoulders, wincing through the pain "It's alright Bul, I'm fine" He says to his partner, before turning his attention to the Klink "There, there, little guy. It would take more than that to knock me down, I'm pretty tough." He smiled and flexed, holding back another wince "Still you pack quite the punch. I would be honored if you stuck with me, I can help you grow up big and strong like Bul down there."
He shook his head at Val "I appreciate it, but I'm fine. It hurt less then falling out of a tree did on the way over. Save the meds for when one of the others gets hurt. It'd be a waste on me, I'll just end up getting hurt again" he adds with a laugh

Steven mostly ignores Julie, more concerned with surviving this bloody mess than taking into account the feelings of a pair of cogs, and at the moment more occupied with making sure Sirius and Bulwark don't start actually fighting, and as such he's somewhat annoyed with Matt's comment. Yes, add fuel to the fire, really brilliant idea. He's about to intervene between the two as it looks like someone was gonna be throwing punches, but stops when the Pokémon Matt is cradling shocks him. He winces slightly, and is about to take out his own medkit to help him when Val beats him to the punch. Shaking his head slightly at the boy's refusal, he turns back to the door, a worried expression on his face. "Say, guys, whatever it is you were planning on doing, do it quick, before those Durant decide that the four of us, trapped on top of this tower, are really quite a tasty snack..."

Julie gasps a little as the little Klink zaps Matt and smiles apologetically at him. She had gotten a little heated here, that couldn't have helped. Then, she turns and heads to the stairs, picking up Tear as she goes by. As she proceeds, she shoots a comment over her shoulder. "Steven, you complain and worry more than my mother does. Are you sure you aren't a 40 year old woman?"

"Klink...," the little gear pokemon said, settling down. It was clearly glad it hadn't hurt Matt seriously.
"Hey! You kids alright up there?," a familiar, if distant voice shouts. It's Uncle Randy, and the voice is followed up by the honking of a horn. As you all walk over to the window you can see him down below, sitting in the jeep you saw earlier. He waves up at you. "You kids gonna stay up there all day? Let's get going already, I'm all done down here!," he shouts back up.
The descent down the tower is simple enough, especially since you know the handrails are unstable. Bulwark and Sirius are both constantly vying to be the first one down the stairs. When you reach the base, you find the broken wire from before has been repaired, and the Durant are gone.
Randy blinks at the Klink in Matt's arms as you all emerge from the tower. "Ah, I see. So that's what was causing all of the commotion," he said with a smirk. "That makes sense. Well, I already called ahead to the Professor to let her know we're back online. They're all waiting back at the lab. You kids ready to go?," he asked, revving the engine.

"Oh, absolutely," Val agrees enthusiastically. "Elsewhere seems like it would be a much more enjoyable place. Especially if it's a little... less dangerous."

Steven snorts at Julie's comment. "Last time I checked I still had boy parts and I'm pretty sure I'm not mature enough to count as twenty, let alone 40, so nah. I just caught a terrible cause of not-wanting-to-die-itis, should be over in half an hour or so, though." He moves to follow Julie downstairs, but not before stopping for a moment and putting the egg shells in his bag. He wasn't sure why, but his gut told him it might be important, and he'd rather be safe then sorry.
Steven nods to Randy. "Yeah, ready to leave this mess." He decided he'd ask someone about the egg and the symbol later.

"Of course!" Matt says, climbing into the back of the jeep "It should be nice to sit for a bit after all that excitement"
As he settles in, he looks down at the little Klink that he's still holding "Yup. Turbine here was all tangled up and scared but me and Julie got them untangled while the others held the door closed."

Julie hops into the passenger seat of the jeep, smiling at the now safe Uncle Randy. It was a massive relief to her that he was alright. "Already here! Still not sure why that little guy was there in the first place though, all tangled up in the wires... Weird place to have a pokemon egg." She thinks on this for a moment, then decides not to put too much more stock into it, instead turning quickly to look at Matt "And for the record, I still think Turbine is an awful name for it." She briefly sticks her tongue out at him, then leans back and relaxes, decompressing from the exciting events.

"An egg?," he said, confused. "That's...highly unusual to find around here," he said as everyone got into the jeep. "Alright kids, buckle up!," he said, and without any further warning he floored it, taking off at a much faster, arguably unsafe, clip. It didn't take long for you to arrive back at the lab. Although you had only left the lab in the morning, it was now around mid-afternoon. "Welcome back," Professor Ivy said cheerily, wearing her lab coat over her swimsuit. "Randy told me you all had quite the eventful morning," she said. "Come on in and take a seat. We'll get your pokemon taken care of, and I want to hear about what happened while we get you four licensed," she said, leading the group into the lobby. Over the next few hours, you all explain the details of your impromptu excursion to Professor Ivy, who sits and listens with a smile on her face."Well, it sounds like you all had quite the adventure," she said with a grin. Alright, so your pokemon are fully healed. Yay! Also, I am going to assume you want to tell her everything, unless there are details you want to leave out, in which case let me know. I leave it up to you guys to decide what to do with the eggshells and jacket you found, and how to resolve the Klink situation.

"Yes, we did," Val says, before venturing, "Uh... the entirety of the Orange Islands aren't going to be like that, right? There are places to enjoy the island without a risk of getting attacked by - or stepping on - Pokémon, I hope..."

Once the Professor had stopped talking, Matt scratched his chin for a second "Yeah, you could say that. Also....just wondering, but do you know where those Durant normally bunker down?"
He looked over to Val and raised an eyebrow "I've been sailing the seas of these islands my whole life and we've only been attacked by sea monsters two, maybe three times, so it should be fine"

Steven snaps his fingers once they've finished their story, remembering he had taken the egg with him. "Oh yeah! I brought the eggshells along. There was this weird pattern on it, I'm pretty sure it's a large red letter R, you guys have any idea what that means?" He proceeds to take out the eggs from his bag and hold them together to show the pattern.

"A large 'R', you say? No, I've never seen anything quite like that," she said, looking at the eggshells. "It's probably just a marking from a daycare to help track their eggs, but that doesn't explain how it ended up in that tower. You let me hold onto these, and I'll see what I can find out, but I hardly think this is anything you kids need to be worried about," she said, scooping up the eggshells and looking at Val.
Professor Ivy let out a cheerful, if somewhat...exaggerated laugh. "Oh, no, I assure you, the Orange Isles are usually very calm. This kind of thing happening is pretty unusual, but you four did handle it very well. And if you four stick together, you'll have these two strapping young men to protect you," she said with a wink. Both Steven and Matt are equally sure she was winking at the two of them. Their reactions solicited another chuckle from the professor.
"As for those Durant, well, you saw them. They live in that old, run-down complex," she said. "Why? You don't want to go shake up the nest again, do you?," she asked. "Or is it that you want to try and capture one of them?," she asked, a glint in her eye. "In that case, I wouldn't worry too much. Durant have become fairly common in junkyards, shipwrecks, and urban centers around the islands. I'm sure you'll see one again before long," she said confidently.

Matt scratched the back of his head with his left hand, still cradling the little Klink with his right "Heh, I was hoping to catch one for my team, but it wouldn't be worth the risk to mess with the nest" He sighed a little "Guess I'll have to put that plan on the back burner"
He turned to Julie "So, since you don't seem to be a fan of Turbine's name, please, tell me what you think would be better. We can pick the name based on which one it likes more"

"I still think 'Trouble' suits it perfectly well," Val mutters, before turning to the Professor. "Well, it's good to hear that this isn't usual, and that normally it's more relaxed. But, I assure you, I don't 'need protecting', beyond what Dinah gives me."

Steven snorts at the professor's remark. "Yeah sure, a layabout city boy and a deckhand, not exactly knights in shining armour material, y'know. Besides, Val's right, I'm sure we're all capable of looking out for ourself. Though I don't really agree with her sentiment; I could do with some more excitement myself. Though perhaps excitement involving a bit less hordes of murderous insects and almost falling to my death."

Julie snorts slightly at Steven. "Then what do you consider exciting? Not many more exciting things than real danger." Honestly, she was a bit disappointed in both Steven and Val's reactions. For all their talk of wanting something different and exciting, when they faced it, they seemed to suddenly want to run back to what was boring and comfortable. Lame.
She then turns Matt, a look of thought on her face, tapping her chin for a few moments as she thought. "Well personally, I would choose 'Torque'. It's the main function gears have, to change torque. Alternatively, 'Transmission' or possibly just 'Transmit', since a set of gears locked together and in sequence is well... a transmission. Not sure they're the best names, but they're more fitting than 'Turbine'. Turbines are more for gathering energy from wind or water, and there's nothing directly about a turbine that implies gears, since they aren't necessary to have in a turbine..." She trails off, still lost in thought, not realizing the tangent she just went on.

Matt chuckled a bit "It was mostly the spinning bit. But....I kinda like Torque." He turned to the little Klink with a smile "What about you. Do wanna be Torque?"
He then looked up at the rest of the group "Actually the professor makes a good point. We all worked together pretty well out there, what with finding Randy and getting this lil guy unstuck. How about we stick together for a while? Like I told Val when I first met her, the more the merrier. I think we make a good crew, all things considered"
