Pressing her ear to the door to try and see what's going on in there (and get as far away from the edge as she can), Val.. can't really hear anything. She sends Dinah through the crack, before trying to squeeze through herself... Val Perception: 2 Val Stealth: 4 Dinah Perception: 18 Dinah Stealth: 8

Matt watched the other two squeeze through the little opening before shaking his head "Yeah, I'm not doing that. Come on Bul, we're pushing it open"
A moment later, he had his shoulder pressed to the door and was pushing on it with all his might

As the others mess with the door, Julie hangs back for a moment, not wanting to overcrowd it. They had seen what too many cooks in the kitchen did when attempting to pull the boys up from their impending doom, and she didn't feel like seeing a repeat of that. In the meantime, she tries once again to place exactly what the sounds on the other side of the door might be. Julie Perception: 9

Sirius easily manages to squirm his way through the blockage, though he is the only one. After the others clear out of the way, Matt and Bulwark press hard and manage to push down the blockage, though it makes a considerable amount of noise in the process. Up in the room, you all feel that you can hear the sound much better. It seems to be coming from a control panel. The lights and gauges on the panel seem to be lighting up and flashing in time with the electric buzzing noise. Clearly this sound is 100% mechanical. Maybe if you go bang on the panelship enough it will stop. The sound is clearly not mechanical, it's far too irregular, but you're not sure what it is. Maybe you should open the panel and find out. The sound reminds you of the high pitched whining that Bulwark used to make when he hatched, though it is notably different. You'd better open up that panel and check it out.

As he clapped his hands together to clear the dust from them, Matt looked towards the panel "Sounds like Bul did as a baby, at least a little bit."
Walking over, Matt reached down and began to tug on the covering, attempting to pull it off to get a look behind it "You think they left babies up here alone?" he says as he continues to mess with the cover

Steven tilts his head at the noise coming from the panel. "Hmmm... doesn't really sound ... mechanical... too... random, I guess. Anyone got any tools to open the panel with?"

"Are you guys sure? It sounds mechanical to me..." Val says, though she lets the others do... whatever. Trying to help last time ended up... not so well. Though, at least there wasn't the risk of her falling down anywhere just by looking at the panel... Was there? "As for tools... well, there were some... at the other building... being dragged away..."

Squatting down by the maintenance panel, you're able to get a good grip on it. At first it holds, but you give a mighty heave and the screws holding it in place give way. Your plop backwards, landing hard on your bum, but the panel is open.
Inside the panel is a mess, ruined electrical insulation, tangles of wires, and...egg shells? Definitely egg shells, and something else too. There, hopelessly tangled in the wires is a small, round pokemon--the origin of the harsh sound. It stops for breath before starting to screech again, releasing some electrical energy into the wiring. It seems this is how the panel has power!
This surge of electricity must have been larger though, as you hear something click on...a microphone, and the loudspeakers! Across the loudspeakers plays a harsh, grating, agonizing noise--this screech mixed with massive amounts of static and white noise. That must be what was bothering the Durant!

Matt smiles before tilting his head and looking into the panel "Seems like it's a freshly hatched Klink. Not quite sure how to get it out of there though. Any ideas?"

Well, that was close enough to mechanical...right? And Klink? She could have sworn it was a Magnemite... "Uh... I'm a little bit more concerned with how it got in there, than how to get it out." Val looks around, nervously. "If there's an egg, there might be parents around, and I don't know if they'd want us messing with their baby..."

Julie looks at the small little pokemon, and she can't help but smile a bit at it. Look at the little thing, it was so cute... Causing problems, but cute. She crouches down so that she's at eye level with it and pulls out her tools, beginning to comfortingly talk to the poor little thing. "Hey there little one, I'm going to get you out of there, alright? But if I'm going to do that, I need you to stop shocking everything, alright?" As she does so, she sees some of the spare parts in her bag and has an idea, pulling out a few random gears and other parts. "Hey, look at these? Do you want to play with them?" Steven isn't as eager to rush down to coo over the pile of cogs. Valerie was right, something seemed... off. If this was a newly hatched baby, then how did it, or its egg, end up behind a closed off panel? Speaking of said egg, something about the pattern, didn't seem to ... add up... He decides to inspect it closer, hopefully finding some clues about what was ... wrong here. Perception, what's up with this egg?: 10 Intuition, what's up with this whole situation?: 11

Something didn't add up about this room, indeed. As Valerie looked around, the room seemed to have been disturbed, like there was some kind of struggle in the room. The dust lay thick in some places, but there were intermingled footprints in others. Some of the windows were broken out...broken inward, at that...and it looked like the shelf that had once been blocking the door had been dragged and pushed into place. Had someone barricaded themselves in this room? As you continued to check the room, you found a white lab coat flung over the back of a chair...over the left breast, just above the pocket, was a large, red letter "R".
The Klink seems to pause, focusing briefly on Julie and Matt as they talk to it, before struggling again, emitting another electric blast through the wires, which translated into another blast of shrieking static. Julie, you could've sworn in the pause that you could hear a distant skittering sound... As for the Klink, from what you and Matt can see, it is very tangled up in the old wiring. It will take some time to remove it fron the wires, and with all those wires coiled up a pokeball won't work. You'll have to untangle it by hand.
Steven, uninterested in the baby pokemon, focuses on the egg shells. That red line is out of place...and it's too regular to be normal. Reaching into the panel and pulling out some fragments, it's clear to see that the red was painted onto the egg...and it forms a shape. Piecing the shells together you are left with a large, red "R".

A big red R? Odd... Thoroughly puzzled, Steven stands up, pieces still in hand. "Guys, the egg was painted on, a big red letter R. Say anything to any of you?" He sighs, shaking his head, and is about to drop the egg shell pieces on the ground before changing his mind and putting them in his bag, as safely as he can so none of his stuff is damaged. He then proceeds to look around the room a bit more, try and find any clues as to what might be going on here... And maybe a power switch or something like that might be useful as well... "Well, uh, it looks like something happened here." Val says, after looking around. "I don't know what, though. I'd assume it has something to do with why that thing's in there, though. Which... doesn't actually help us anything." She glances at the lab coat, which she had picked up and bundled. "I hope Randy can help give us answers. He seems to have left his coat here." I wonder why he had it monogrammed, though... Eh, scientists. She gives a mental shrug.
But at Steven's comment, Val reconsiders, "Oh.. a red "R"? That's on this lab coat, too. So... maybe this isn't his? I don't know." She checks to see if there's any other identifying features in or on the lab coat... probably too much to ask for a name tag.

Julie blinks and tilts her head to try and get a better measure of the skittering sound, but given all the other noises in the room she only managed to know it was there, nothing more. "Guys, I just heard skittering. I think the Durant might be coming. Someone block the door, maybe? Also Val, Uncle Randy never made it up here, if he had, he would have solved the problem himself, not get chased out of this building by the Durant all the way to the other building, that makes no sense."
Julie blinks and shakes her head, trying to clear her thoughts. She was getting distracted, and now was not the time for that. Right now she needed to focus. She reaches into her bag and pulls out her insulated gloves. First priority was to unhook the wires. Hopefully then the sound would stop. Oh, and she should probably remind people not to touch exposed wires, they tended to forget that for some reason. "Guys, the wires are exposed, so don't touch until I get it unhooked, or else you get the bug frier treatment." Then she went to work, trying to unattach the wires as quickly and carefully as possible. Tech ed: 15 Focus: 7

Matt watched as Julie unhooked the wires, waiting until he thought she was finished before reaching in and attempting to untangle the little Klink "Come on little guy, don't fuss. We're gonna get you out of there just fine"
He motioned for Bul to stand by the door "Keep a lookout buddy, and stop any of those bugs that try and get in here"

Steven is able to easily find the power switch, of course with the power lines to the building cut by the Durant below it doesn't work. Speaking of Durant...you begin to hear a skittering noise growing louder. It sounds like it's coming from below.
There are no other identifying features on the lab coat, simply the large R. You do, however, hear a skittering noise inbetween the screeching bursts of static, and it is growing in volume.
Bul walks toward the door, keeping his eyes on it. Between Matt and Julie, you manage to get the little Klink a good bit untangled...but by no means enough to remove it, and trying to do so prematurely only causes it to emit another blast of electricity. If you had to put an estimate on it, you think you're about a third of the way done...but now Matt, too, can hear the skittering noise, and Julie recognizes that it has, indeed, gotten louder...and it's coming from the stairs.

"Hey, uh... guys?" Val asked, "Do you hear something? Like a skittering noise?"
