Welcome to the world of Pokemon!
A world quite similar to yours and mine.
There are people, and plants.
Mountain, and Plains.
Rivers, and Streams.
Oceans, and Lakes.
And in all of these places can be found the wondrous creatures that set this world apart--Pokemon!
On the land, in the seas, and across the skies; these mystical creatures can be found, with all the variety life has to offer!
Some people study Pokemon, seeking to learn and understand...
Others befriend Pokemon, living side by side with these creatures...
Many train Pokemon, testing their strength against other trainers in spectacular Pokemon Battles...
And still others exist, seeking to exploit Pokemon, all to satisfy their greed and desire for power...
Here, on the Orange Islands, four young trainers are about to set out on a journey into the unknown...
What kind of places will they visit?
What kind of people will they encounter?
What kind of pokemon will they train?
Excitement and adventure await...in the World of Pokemon!

It has been a couple of hours since you set foot on Valencia Island, and the going has been a little slower than you had hoped. It's taking you a while to get your land legs, and you could swear that the island was rocking beneath you as you walked along the path across the island. You had only recently entered a forested area, the shade a welcome relief from the hot sun. As you walked, the trees that lined the path almost seemed to form a tunnel. It reminded you of the passages of the J.S.S. Tsunami, the only home you had ever known... It would be miles away by now, already well out to sea...
As you continued through the forest, it was the sounds that captured your interest next. Not that you weren't used to noise--the slap of waves against the hull, and the constant hum of the engines in the old ship's bones had been your constant companions--but these sounds...the rustle of leaves on the wind, the faint cries of pokemon, the scurrying through the bushes...all of this was decidedly new.
The forest began to thin, and you could see the bright sunlight ahead. Emerging back into the tropical heat, it took your eyes a moment to adjust, but then you saw it. Up on a cliff, at the end of the path, was Professor Ivy's Pokemon Lab. You could also hear the faint sound of waves crashing against the nearby cliffs. A gust of wind blew across the field between you and your destination, the grass waving in it pleasantly. There was your destination...and also the beginning of your journey. Wait...were those footsteps coming up behind you?

The lab...there it was. Professor Ivy's lab, and the start of your journey...
As you made your way across the field that led up the the lab, you were met by the typical Orange Isles climate. Hot and humid, the unrelenting sun beat down on you, yet the cool ocean breeze that frequently swept up from the cliffs made the day feel altogether refreshing. You could hear the sound of waves slapping against rock, growing louder with each step toward the lab. Finally you found yourself at the entrance to the Lab.
The glass door swings open easily, and you find yourself in the lobby. A few lab assistants walk by, clearly too engrossed in their studies to notice you. You do, however, notice a girl standing in her lobby. She doesn't look like a lab technician...or a professor, as she's far too young...but her shoulders are somewhat slumped and she has a look of foreboding dread on her face.

Crap, indeed. It was a hot day, a scorcher by anyone's standards. Fortunately, you had just reached the climate-controlled refuge of the Lab. Unfortunately, Professor Ivy and Uncle Randy were both conspicuously absent. The other technicians moved to and fro, going about their regular duties, andealing aside from the occasional greeting they merely kept on their way.
You did recognize one person, though. Charlie Casi. The boy wonder, apple of your dad's eye. He seemed to be focused on some project, but looked up and around every so often, as if looking for someone...and you had a pretty good idea who. And...were those flowers on his desk?!
Before you could consider the implications further, you heard the door open behind you, along with the familiar chime over the intercom that signalled the arrival of someone at the lab. It was a boy you didn't recognize...which was odd, since Professor Ivy’s Lab was quite out of the way. Wait...would this guy coming in attract Charlie's attention...?

After a long walk from the pier, your stomach had finally settled down...and you had come to appreciate just how different the climate here was from your native Snowpoint. And there were certainly differences. The constant heat as opposed to the bitter cold, the refreshing breeze as opposed to the rending winds...you could easily see why people considered this a tropical paradise. What good fortune that you got to travel here!
Before long you found yourself entering a forest, the dense canopy serving to shield you from the direct sunlight. It was cooler, if a little stuffy as the trees greedily gobbled up the breeze for themselves. You could hear the breeze rustling through the leaves, along with the sounds of numerous pokemon, you just couldn't feel it. As you continued on your path, you began to hear something else...the sound of footfalls up ahead, and you were gaining on them. As you rounded a bend in the road, you saw the edge of the forest, and the silhouette of a teenage boy against the bright light beyond. As you came closer and your eyes began to adjust, you got a better look at him...and what he was looking at. A sun-kissed, green-grass field, and atop the cliffs beyond that, Professor Ivy’s Lab...
