Yue grabs the man, dragging him along to meet her friends, only to discover he's really nobody special. He just continues to encourage the group to not pursue this matter further.

Leon nodded, something was going on here there's no way nobody in the village had known about the poachers except one person completely uninvolved "That's a good idea Yue, but make sure you don't go into any buildings where Sharp could lose track of you," he whispered back

Yue (and Brooke) tail the "completely average-looking" guy for several hours. He stops at the inn for some food and drink, meanders around town for a bit taking in the sights, and generally does absolutely nothing interesting...until sundown. That's when he opts to leave town, headed along the dirt track leading east to Mt. Moon. If he notices he's being tailed, he doesn't react in any way.

Despite appearances, Mt. Moon is actually over an hour's journey away from the town. By the time they reach the entrance, the man has slipped away. Now, Yue is certain he did not go in. At the same time though, due to the gloom of twilight, she couldn't quite say when he vanished from her sight. If this man is as suspicious as he appears, it would probably take only a moment's distraction for him to slip away. Regardless, he seems to have either vanished into thin air (extremely unlikely), or he stuck to the shadows and slipped away while Yue wasn't paying full attention.

Leon had been following Yue from a distance where he could see her, but not the man himself. Not wanting to be close enough the man could see him with his lesser stealth skills. When he saw Yue standing by for several moments without moving, he went forward to the young woman. "What happened Yue? Did he go inside?" Leon asked pointing to the cave entrance wondering if Yue held back to avoid heading into the tunnels by herself.

"Um...Maybe? I lost sight of him, so it's possible, but not certain." Yue says, not wanting to jump to conclusions. "We're short on time, so I don't think we wanna be exploring a big cave like this without knowing for sure that they're somewhere in there." She continues, being surprisingly sensible.

Leon wanted to argue since they lost their lead, but Yue was right, it would be really dangerous to go off into some dark caves at night. Especially since they had not shared where they were going with anyone in town. Looking around the area, for any sign of the man. Leon realized that the twilight was making things difficult as he tossed out Rex.
"Hey buddy, can you see any footprints or anything?" he asked figuring since Rex could see in the dark, that maybe the lower light wouldn't affect him like it affected Leon and Yue

Mr. "I'm nobody special" seems to have left next to no traces of his presence. Which, considering Yue (and Leon) were tailing him the entire time, shouldn't have been possible. Even if he had, somehow, teleported away, there would be some evidence. Sure, Teleportation isn't nearly as flashy as people like to believe, but there'd be something. Rex can get little hints of something, but all it tells him is "yes, the guy was real, and yes, he was here". (You may have Rex roll Perception to try and Track. Treat it as picking up a specific scent from nothing. DC is 20.

Leon looked to the dark pup "Try to see if you can find any trace boy," he said as Rex sniffed around the area trying to find something that could lead them to the mystery man, but couldn't seem to find a trace

Brooke swears and follows... at a slightly slower pace, since running headlong through the woods at night is a good way to trip and break something. She really hopes Yue avoids that.

Yue uncannily evades all stumbling blocks on the ground, her speed keeping her just at the edge of Brooke's vision. Seems like she isn't stopping until something makes her stop. Quite possibly a tree or something, considering the woods are growing denser as time passes.

Leon followed behind Brooke to keep pace with the young huntress and ninja, remembering the last few times Yue ran off by herself into the dark, the young man knew nothing positive could come from this

Feels like days, but that can't be right. Yue may not be the brightest candle in the bunch, but even she knows that! Well, in any case, she can always ask...Brooke? Huh. No Brooke. No Leon either. Did...Yue leave them behind? She is pretty fast...

After a bit of looking around, Yue finds a tree! And then another one...and another one...There sure are a lot of alike looking trees...Oh! Maybe if she climbs one, she'll be able to see something familiar! So she starts climbing.

Yue discovers that the trees are too large to be climbed. No low-hanging branches, no easy hand/footholds, nothing.
Sharp, on the other hand, finds that the forest is rapidly becoming denser, to the point where he is eventually forced to stop and return to Brooke to report he cannot proceed further with his wingspan. Not to mention the lack of light further in makes it nearly impossible to see anything.
