The year is 508 of the Age of Arceus. Celadon Castle town is a prosperous city of 500 citizens, including guards and the Royal Family. Queen Amelia rules fairly from within the Castle walls, and all is well. This month, the Adventurer's Guild celebrates the 2nd anniversary of its official endorsement by the Crown by opening its doors to new members, with the offer of a free Pokemon for those who attend the event, and well-paying jobs for those who sign up. Rumors of unrest in the upper echelons of the Guild are whispered in the shadows of alleyways and dark corners of seedy pubs; and some even suggest that the various Legendary/Mythical Pokemon Cults have infiltrated its ranks. Even these dark whispers aren't enough to cloud your mind, however, whether you believe them or not. Today, you plan to head to Saffron City. To the Adventurer's Guild, in order to obtain a new Pokemon friend. Whatever your chosen path in life, it'd be silly to pass up an opportunity like this.
Whoever you are, wherever you're from, you've finally arrived in Saffron City. The day is just beginning, and the special Event lasts all day. Seems you have plenty of time to explore the city, make new friends, whatever it is you may wish to do.

Yue strolled into town carrying Bubbles in her arm like a child carrying a precious teddy bear. She stared around the city in awe as she wandered aimlessly, her original goal for coming there momentarily forgotten. "Oh right, I was here to ask to ask around about, Mother wasn't I...?" Yue pondered to herself for a bit on who to ask first, before deciding to fall back on one of her sure-fire, never-fail rules: When in doubt, ask a maid for help! Satisfied with this strategy, Yue looked around for the nearest maid...and couldn't find any. Where we all the maids?! There were always dozens back home, so how could a place with so many people not have a single maid?! What's more, her sure-fire, never-fail rule had...failed? How could this be?!
As Yue was having her internal crisis, an unfamiliar smell wafted into her nose from one of the nearby food stands. It smelled really good, so Yue decided to put her conundrum on hold while she got something to eat. The problem wasn't going anywhere, so why not take a break and enjoy herself before solving it? Thinking such thoughts, Yue drew closer to the stand...and another, equally delicious-smelling smell caught her attention. And then another. And another. There we so many great smelling things around, Yue became paralyzed with indecision, looking from one stall to the next.
"Graaaaaaghhhh!" Yue eventually screamed in frustration.

Several nearby people stop what they're doing to look in the direction of the screaming girl. When nothing immediately appears to be the matter, they slowly return to what they were doing.

Leon made his way into Saffron slowly dragging his feet a bit, Rex nipping at his heels to get him to move faster. Leon was hesitant to visit the new city, the welcome he had gotten in Celadon coloring his expectations for his arrival in Saffron. The moment he had introduced himself he was accosted by people well aware of his family's sins. Word soon spread about the Hectril that had made their way to town and he found himself incarcerated. After revealing his disowned status and the location of his family's current hiding grounds, he was given clemency. However,while grateful for the information, the people he talked to heavily implied he should leave the city. On their urging he decided to make his way to Saffron to join the Adventurers Guild.
On the outskirts of the city, when he heard the clamoring of people and crowds from the festival that had sprung up, he began to get cold feet. If it weren't for his fire dog's insistence he'd likely still be fretting about entering. Once they were into the city proper Leon started walking on his own figuring a young man being pushed along by his Pokemon wouldn't make a great first impression. Leon tried to avoid the crowds, though during the hustle and bustle of the festival this was quite difficult if not impossible.
The energy of the festival was almost enough to lure Leon to join in with the festivities. However he wasn't exactly sure how to, when he made flight from his family he managed to pick up a small satchel of coins. Coins that his family had rewarded him with over the years for performing tasks around the compound. However since they never allowed him to go out and spend it, he had no idea how much they were worth and was a bit embarrassed to ask. He thought of simply asking for directions to the guild, but worried he'd slip up and get the same experience he had in Celadon. While agonizing over what to do, his fire dog beginning to get irritated by his master's stalling, the two of them heard a cryring out from somewhere, Rex letting out a bark before running off toward the source.
Snapped out of his hesitation by his Pokemon's swift action, Leon followed the fire dog close behind, thinking that they could help and that aiding someone in need could be the introduction he needed.

"Nnnnnggghhh..." Yue sank to her knees as indecision overwhelmed her. What should she do now? Which delicious looking delicacy should she try first?! With no maids around, who would she ask for advice in dark times such as this?!
Suddenly, Yue was struck with an idea. An idea so brilliant, it was the pinnacle of the pinnacle of brilliant ideas. If there were no maids around, she would just have to make a new one!
"Therefore Bubbles, please accept the honorable and respected position of maid!" Yue said suddenly, without bothering to voice the thoughts that led up to that point. "Now then Maid Bubbles, what should we do?! What do you mean you don't know?! What kind of maid are you?!"
Still on her knees, Yue pounded the ground in frustration. Her brilliantly brilliant plan had failed! Impossible! She must have missed something! But what? Yue looked Bubbles over and immediately realized what was wrong. Bubbles didn't have a uniform!
Of course! All the grace and wisdom of a true maid was held in their uniform! After all, why else would they all wear the same thing? In was the only conceivable answer! So all Yue had to do was get Bubbles a maid uniform! But where would she get such a valuable item, and in such a small size too? Alas, it seemed her plan had hit a roadblock! Sinking into despair, Yue pounded the ground once more.

Now the passersby are deliberately avoiding looking at Yue, strange, over-dramatic girl that she is. Pretty soon she is "alone" but for Bubbles and the nearby stall vendors.

With Squirt on his shoulder, Alex strolled about the city taking in the sights of the ongoing festival. He awed at the sights in the streets and took deep joyous breaths around the food stalls. He couldn't decide on where to start. Squirt, on the other hand, knew exatly where he wanted to go. The bird hopped off Alex's shoulder to pick up fallen scraps and then re-perched to enjoy the tidbit. He had done this more times than Alex could count. "You don't have to stay right next to me buddy. Just stay close." Alex said looking at his long time friend. The bird happily chirped a little "Gul" and took to the air hovering close to Alex.
Alex reached into his coin purse and sighed. He hadn't had much left to spend on treats. He came plenty supplied for adventure, but not to party. He needed to find the Adventuring Guild fast so that he could make some. Hurriedly, he asked the nearest couple people, "E-e-excuse me, do you know where the Adventuring Guild is?" or "P-p-pardon me, I'm...I'm looking for the Adventuring Guild." His stammering seemed to be turning people away and Alex suddenly became slightly depressed. That was all until he heard the cry coming from down the road. Alex had known that cry. That was the cry of pain, or frustration. He was too far away to tell for sure, but both meant that someone needed help. He gave Squirt the signal to follow him and picked up his pace down the road.

Leon came upon the scene as Yue was pounding the ground in frustration. Leon looked around the market trying to get a feel for the situation, and when he seemed to find nothing but indifference in the surrounding people, he was quite confused. Heading over to the frustrated young woman he offered a hand out to her "Excuse me miss, are you alright? You seem distraught. My companion and I heard a deathly scream from this direction and believed someone needed aid." he said motioning to Rex, the fire dog barking in the affirmative.
"You seem like the most distraught person here. If there anything we can do to help you, please let me know," he said

Brooke's first thought upon reaching Saffron was that this was more people than ever she'd seen in once place; hell, maybe more than she'd ever seen in her life. How did people live like this? What did they eat? She knew a good farm could feed a lot more people per acre than a forest, that was the whole point of a farm, but there had to be a limit somewhere. Even if you had farmland for miles and miles, you still had to move the food, and it didn't keep forever. More to the point, why would you want to live with so many other people? Brooke knew she was more of a loner than most people, but everyone had that one neighbor they didn't get on with; how much worse would that get if you had a hundred neighbors? And the noise, like the biggest, chattiest flock of Murkrows you ever heard...
Brooke realized she was gawping, and shut her yap. Last thing she wanted was for people to see her and think she was some kinda backwater country girl with sticks in her hair... even if that was true. Especially if that was true. She just needed to find someone who could point her towards whoever ran the Adventurer's Guild, preferably without talking down to her. Even in a place this big, folks had to know each other, right?
Her thoughts were interrupted by a yell from nearby. She stared at the girl a bit, checked herself when she realized she was doing it again, then saw other people were staring too and went back to it. All right, so this wasn't normal here, good to know. It was reassuring to see she wasn't the only one out of place here. A moment later she felt ashamed of the thought. Here you are, worried about people thinkin' you're strange and lookin' at you funny, and as soon as you realize they're lookin' at someone else you're right there with them? Besides, the girl looked tiny. She couldn't be much older than Elfrith, if that. Kids were allowed to act funny sometimes, that was part of bein' a kid. (She never had, but that was different.)

Yue looked up to the owner of the voice. And then looked up some more. This person was HUGE! Yue had never seen someone so tall. Hmmm? Wait a second...That eloquent way of speaking...Those black and white clothes... Could it be? It had to be! A maid!
Wait, their chest doesn't look very round or squishy. Was something wrong with them? Even Father's chest had been round and squishy and he wasn't even a maid. Then again, Father as a whole had been round and squishy so it might just have been him...
Wait, maid-like, but tall and with a non-squishy chest and a different uniform? Yue knew what that meant! Still it was best to check. Yue stood up and poked the stranger in the chest.
"Hmmm...Definitely not squishy...That means...You're a butler!" Yue stepped back and pointed triumphantly at the stranger, proud to have cleverly deduced his identity.

Lucky for Brooke, she wasn't the only soul in this town kind enough to offer a hand to a kid in the dirt. Meant she didn't have to try and figure out what to say to some strange kid. It also meant she could devote her full attention to the problem she'd only just noticed: namely, that Sharp's familiar weight was no longer nestled atop her pack. Hell! She'd trained the bird pretty well, but he'd never seen a place like this, any more than she had. All these strange people, all these unfamiliar Pokemon... ah-ha. A sudden outburst of shrieks and squawks led her to her errant Spearow, who appeared to be swooping down on some other hapless bird Pokemon. She made a beeline for him.
"Sharp! You leave that thing alone!" This was accompanied by an ear-splitting whistle. "Get back here now, or I'm puttin' you in your ball and not lettin' you out til we leave town!" She brandished an Apricorn Ball, to show she'd make good on her threat. Sharp hated being inside the thing; he broke off his pursuit and flapped back to her shoulder with a sullen air.
"Sorry 'bout that," she said to the fellow the other bird had retreated to. "He's never seen a city before. Reckon it's got him a bit spooked."

Leon was taking a moment to process all that had occurred, first the young woman he had offered to help had stared at him for about a minute. Then stood poked him in the chest said he wasn't squishy, whatever that meant, before declaring to all around that he was a butler. On top of all this, her attitude had turned completely on its head.
Leon threw a glance to Rex hoping for some help in deciphering what had occurred, but the fire dog seemed just as confused as he was. Scratching his head Leon looked down at the girl "Umm, Miss I think you may be mistaken, I'm not a butler. I'm not quite sure why you think I am, did you lose a butler you were searching for? or was there some other problem that was bothering you?" he asked starting to think that perhaps Yue was a lost person of wealth, hoping this wasn't the case because he'd have no idea how to help someone who was lost.

"Hmph! You can't fool me! You're helpful, eloquent, male, and you're wearing black and white! You must be a bulter!" Yue said, wagging her finger at the lying butler. He couldn't fool her for a second! But why was trying to hide it? Hmmm...Aha! He must be embarrassed because he was recently fired from the family he served!
"Alright, I've decided! My name is Yue, and starting today, you'll be my butler!" Yue said, putting her hands on her hips and puffing out her chest. "That way you have someone to serve again, and I have someone to give me advice! So Mr. Butler, what do you think i should do now?"

Squirt looked around the area for the source of the yelling. Just as he found it, from out of nowhere, another bird had dived right past him. Squirt had no idea what to do. He had lived in a peaceful village his whole life and only had minimal battle experience. The one thing he knew to do was run to Alex for commands. He made a beeline straight for Alex and ran right into his chest.
Alex was taken back by the sudden impact, but managed to stand his ground. Squirt took his "battle stance" (Which meant that he pointed his beak and tried to look mean) towards the other bird. Alex couldn't help but laugh. He looked down to Squirt and said, "Easy "killer". It's just another bird. What were you gonna do without me here huh? You know you have an endless amount of water that you can use to defend yourself right?" As he finished his sentence, he poked the bird in the stomach. This made Squirt...well, squirt. The bird looked annoyed and then sprayed Alex with the ability. "Stop stop. You win." Alex managed to blubber through the spray. He turned towards the new girl that appeared to be the bird's owner. He says, "Don't worry about it. We're all a little out of our element. Little wimp here is used to just cleaning wounds and grabbing supplies. I don't think he's ever been in a real fight before. He needs to get used to it eventually if we're going to join the Adventuring Guild." He stops and thinks for a second, then asks, "Is, is that why you're here? Are you going to join the guild as well?"

The boy saw to his Pokemon first. Which was right and proper of him, but it gave time Brooke to reflect on what she'd just said. Hi, I've never been to a city before and it's got me rattled worse than Mightyena at night. Way to go there, Brooke. Real smooth. Luckily he didn't seem to notice her admission, or didn't make a big deal out of it if he did. Maybe 'cos he was too busy being squirted with water. She couldn't help but smile a bit at the pair's antics.
"Yep. Figure this is as good a chance as I'll ever get to travel. 's not every day someone offers you a free Pokemon, you know?" Sharp squawked from her shoulder; she reached up to cuff him affectionately on the head. "Shut it, you. You're great but you can't take on th'whole world alone."

Leon was conflicted on whether he should feel put upon that the young woman had decided she was his butler or if we should feel flattered by the praise she gave him. Either way, he was slowly starting to realize that the young woman would be tough to dissuade. Leon sighed "I will reiterate that I am not a butler, however, I suppose I can act in one's stead for the moment." he said believing that it would be worse to simply send the confused young woman off on her own.
When prompted for advice Leon wasn't sure what to do, not knowing about the young woman's situation, figuring he should start from the beginning Leon asked "What was the problem you were having that caused you to scream just a moment ago? Perhaps dealing with that should be our first priority."

She still needed to either find a maid to ask about Mother or find a maid uniform for Bubbles so she could ask her! But wait! She had a butler now! She was saved!
"Mr. Butler! Do you know where Mother is?! I came to this city to find her but I couldn't find a maid to ask! Please tell me you know where she is!" Yue gave her new butler her best puppy dog eyes, with Bubbles quickly following suit.

Alex took a second to wring out the top of his shirt as the girl spoke. Squirt had perched on his shoulder in his usual spot and never broke the gaze of the Spearow, mostly for fear that it would attack him again. He was ready this time though...maybe. No one was really sure about that. The only thing he looked ready for was getting in trouble again, but that was usual.
Alex cheered up when the girl mentioned that she was also looking for the Guild. He spoke up, "Oh wonderful. At least I'm not alone looking for the Guild now." He stretched out a hand and finished, "My name is Alex. Alex Green. I'm a...uhh...I guess I'm a "new" Alchemist. I specialize in healing is basically what it comes down to. I still need to learn all of the ins and outs of the profession, but there's no better place to do that than the Adventurer's Guild. Would you mind if we looked for it together? I'm not too used to the city." He paused and just then reflected on what the girl had said earlier. 'Smooth Alex. Way to go with that one.' He then added, "I mean that, well maybe both of us could help each other. We're sure to find it faster than searching separately." Squirt then pecked him on the head, "Gul!" Alex had completely forgotten why he ran this way. "Oh right, did you happen to hear a scream from this way?" It might have been an awkward exchange, but Alex was a healer at heart and foremost. He needed to see if the injured party was alright.

Leon's eyes went wide as saucers, not only was the young woman looking for directions, she was looking for directions to a person he didn't know. Leon turned away for a moment trying to hide his surprise and compose himself before looking back to the young woman "I don't think I do, but I could help you search for her, What's your mother's name?" Leon asked at little surprised the young woman had come to the city to see her mother, without knowing where she lived, but reasoned the maid she kept talking about was supposed to lead her there and ended up abandoning her.

Yue wrapped her arms around the butler as she pulled him into a hug. "Really?! Thank you, thank you, thank you, Mr. Butler!" Yue rubbed her face up against his chest as she hugged him. After a few minutes of this, Yue backed away, still bouncing on her heels with excitement. "Mother's name is D'Mara! Now where should we search first?!"
