"Oh, yes, of course! Come right in." Kalani opens the door the rest of the way and steps back to let Brooke inside.

Brooke mutters a thank-you and enters. "So you probably know about the reports of wild Pokemon attackin' folks on the road between here and Saffron," she begins without further preamble. "Me'n a couple friends - we're with the Adventurer's Guild - decided to go and check it out, ran into a big ol' pack of Zangoose. After we beat them, we got one of our Pokemon to have a chat with the one in charge, see if it could figure out why they're acting up - Zangoose can be territorial, but I never heard of them setting up near people and trying to drive them away. They said humans have been hunting them. Not just regular catching Pokemon, but going after whole packs, not giving them any time to repopulate, even chasing them if they try to move away. Not just the Zangoose, either, they're just the first ones who got fed up enough to try an' do something about it. And they say whoever's doing it lives around here."
She shrugs and shuffles her feet, only now realizing this could sound like an accusation. "So... we've got a problem, 'cause they can't tell humans apart very well, and if this doesn't stop then they're gonna try and round up enough Pokemon to attack the town. The Zangoose we talked to said he'd give us three days to get results. I don't know how hard a deadline that is, but I think I'd rather not take chances. You got any idea who might be doing something like this?"

Kalani's eyes widen in shock as Brooke fills her in. "Oh my. That's certainly not a lot of time at all, and for such a serious problem." She shakes her head. "I truly wish I could help you, but Cerulean is primarily a fishing village. If there is anyone bad here, they're doing a very good job at hiding it; though I like to think if anyone were acting oddly, we'd know about it." She sighs. "You could try asking around for anyone who might've seen something odd and not realized, but I can't think of much else. I'm sorry I couldn't be more help, Miss."

"Well. I was hopin' you'd have a clue where to start, but if you don't know you don't know." Brooke chews her lip, thinking. "The Zangoose said whoever it was was pretty strong - strong enough their pack couldn't fight them off, and they didn't think we could either, even after we beat them. I reckon if anyone in town could pull something like that off, you'd know about it, yeah?"

Kalani nods. "Mm. The only Pokemon strong enough to do such a thing that I'm aware of are Gertrude here, and The Guardian." She explains. "Oh! The Guardian is a mysterious being that is said to protect Cerulean Cape Town from danger. It supposedly lives in Mt. Moon, but nobody has ever seen it so most assume it's a myth. An old folk tale." Kalani continues, eyes flashing with pride. "Personally, I believe the Guardian is real, and would help us if something like what the Zangoose threatened were to happen. No way to know for sure though, and of course I'd like to prevent it in the first place."

"Right. So I figure, most likely whoever's behind this is probably hiding out near the town, not in it. We'll start looking tomorrow. Anyone in particular you think we should start with, when we're askin' around? Local hunters, or woodchoppers, or just folks who go out roaming in the woods a lot?"

Kalani's mood droops considerably. "Afraid I can't help you with that, Miss. I can only repeat my previous suggestions."

Brooke nods. "Awright. I'll let you be, then. We'll be staying at the inn the next few days, ask for Brooke or Leon if you need to get a hold of us. I'll try to keep you posted on what we find."

Yue (with Nue hidden somewhere nearby, as always) eventually returns to Cerulean with her new friend Hawlucha safely stored away in her bag. Brooke and Leon are naturally relieved to have her back (even if Leon has been unintentionally napping the majority of the time), however, the time has come to turn in for the night. The Cerulean inn has a very reasonable rate of 10 Crowns per night for a room with one bed, or 20 Crowns if you want a room with two beds.

Yue yawns, stretches, then hopes out of bed to go look for new Pokemon...forgetting to change out of her PJs in the process.

Leon woke up feeling a bit odd, it had been a long time since he'd slept through the night. Getting cleaned up and dressed he went downstairs to try and catch the girls before they left, figuring the three of them should coordinate their efforts with the time limit they were under.
While he was waiting, Leon approached the innkeeper "Good Morning, Thank you for allowing us to stay here last night, it was a good place to rest. I was wondering if I could ask you something, have there been any new faces passing through recently? Besides me and my traveling companions?" he asked figuring that if anyone in town would have seen the poachers it would have been the innkeeper.

Alas, the innkeeper has not noticed anybody suspicious. Well, except technically you guys. Coming in here, asking all yer questions n' stuff. Invading people's privacy. The innkeeper's wife, who overheard, smacks him over the head with a rolling pin, leaving a comically large lump in its wake as she berates him for being rude. Turning back to Leon with a sweet smile, she politely asks if he could be more specific. Many people pass through Cerulean this time of year for the fish market. If Leon could be more specific as to what constitutes 'suspicious' in his mind, she may be able to help. Key word being "may".

Leon thought about it "Well we're looking for a group of possible poachers so I guess it would be, people who have more Pokeballs then they should have a need for, or maybe people with a large number of cages, we also know their targets so if you've seen someone with a Pokemon that's white with a red m shape on its chest and red claws that could be a possible lead as well. We're working with the Guild and think they could be connected to the attacks that have been going on, on the road between here and Saffron."

Unfortunately, the woman explains, if such people as Leon describes have been passing through here, she has not seen them. However, now that he mentions it, she does recall one rather strange fellow that always seems to turn up whenever someone starts asking questions about the Pokemon attacks. This man is always trying to caution people against inquiring further. Almost as if he knows something more than he lets on. Alas, the innkeep's wife does not believe he lives in town (she certainly doesn't recall seeing him around), and she knows for certain he has not been renting a room at this inn (the only one in town). If Leon wants to find this stranger, his best bet is to keep asking questions. If the woman's suspicions are correct, then this man will inevitably turn up to 'warn them off'.

"Oh thank you, that's really helpful. Oh one more thing to ask if you don't mind, is there anybody in town who could send a message to Saffron?" Leon asked glad to know he had a way to draw one of the poachers out but was worried that the group might need a bit more support, especially considering he hadn't seen Brooke or Yue yet today.

The town does, in fact, have messenger Pidgey available. Not many, as they don't need a lot, but it surely wouldn't be much trouble to speak with the Mayor to rent one for a single message.

Yue, tired and hurting from her trip to the mountains, is on her way back to the hotel room. "Owie..."

Brooke is just coming down the stairs, having woken unusually late after yesterday's exertions. And oh good, there's Yue, after yesterday she was worried she might go running off again... wait. "Mornin', Yue. What happened to you?"

"Oh, I caught some new Pokemon!" Yue says, smilingly excitedly, inspite of the pain. "There's Mr. Floaty, Chomper, and Pain."

"You work fast. Are you hurt much? D'you need to go see the healer again?" Brooke crouches to get a better look at Yue's injuries, brushing some of her hair back from her face absentmindedly.
