Yoko looked on as Layl departed from the island, leaving her alone with Iris on the upper island. She looked over to her Vivorin and mulled something over in her head, and then turned back to Iris. "If you want to, you can go down first," she offered.

To Layl, Iris could only shrug, being just as confused as the other side was.
Once Layl disappeared over the edge, safely on the Prismavian's back, Yoko initiated the talk on their descent. Iris cocked her head to the side, wondering if there was perhaps some underlying reason for Yoko sending her off first. However, as she couldn't think of a possibility that was terribly serious, Iris didn't go off on a lengthy interrogation. She simply accepted with an, "Alright then," and a smile.
A smile that was quickly wiped off her face when she heard an unexpected, "Zo!" from the side. Her head snapped to the source to find the culprit, her own Zorua. Iris stared in shock and a little bit of fear. She didn't recall calling out her Zorua, so... how?... Through gritted teeth, her only answer was, "Return," as she promptly returned the innocent renegade. Now wasn't the time to let her fears take a hold of her.
"Um... well then... I'll be off," Iris returned to the task at hand as she stepped up to the Vivorin. She asked for its permission to ride it down and would do so if she was permitted to.

As Iris connects with the Vivorin she finds that the creature's mind is always in flux, constantly focusing on any motion or sounds. It gives a quick affirmation of understanding before going back to its constant shifting attention. Lifting off with its wings turning into a blur it quickly descends to the beach below, its wings quickly slowing back down. After letting Iris down it immediately bursts back into the air with a small puff of sand, heading to retrieve Yoko.

Upon landing, Iris gives the Vivorin a friendly pat on the withers and conveys thoughts of thanks before dismounting. As it ascends, it eventually reaches a point where the connection breaks. Although, by that point, Iris is focused more on trying to find hide or hair of Iris and Shossk. Had the two hidden themselves already? Well, she was too close to the potentially dangerous camp to call out for them, so she was going to just trust her party. Her thoughts moved onto her own, upcoming task.

(Yoko?)
For a brief moment, a tendril of blue fire snakes its way into the back of Yoko's neck. Once the Viviron lands next to her she climbs aboard and flies down, hopping onto the beach and returning Viviron to its Pokeball.

With the group assembled Shossk steps out from the treeline again. After a moment he speaks. "Another should lead. Mmy last party said I am not good with negotiations." Indeed, in several interactions that Shossk said his piece, the opposing side became hostile shortly after. Shossk simply thought they were naturally aggressive, but Shossk's party assured him that he was at fault.
"Shossk. Buddy. You're... too honest," Torvin once said to him, after an angry, portly guard had tried to have them arrested. Shossk had asked whether he was too fat to conduct his job effectively.
"Are you tryin' to piss people off?" Veska had asked of him, after they had dispatched a surly, dwarven mercenary captain and his entourage. Shossk had wondered aloud whether the man was a dwarf or a disfigured gnome.
"Stay out of these talks," Grumosh ordered him after a pitched battle with a trio of lamias. "I know you carry no ill meaning, but your words cause too much bloodshed." Shossk had asked the eldest whether her ancestors where lions that copulated with humans or humans that copulated with lions.
Shossk looks to Iris in particular, then reaches into his pack to produce a small pouch of spiky caltrops. "Take these. Iff you must flee, throw these behind you. They will sslow the enemies' pursuit." Following that, if everyone's ready to go, Shossk will sneak back into the forest towards the other group's camp. Shossk himself will stick to the treeline bordering the encampment while talks commence.

Iris didn't actually have any memories of Shossk messing up negotiations but... somehow... Yes, she could definitely see what probably ended up happening what with Shossk's, evidently, different way of viewing the world. After thinking this, Iris nodded quietly and obediently took the pouch offered her. She peered into the pouch as Shossk explained what she was to do with the weapons inside. A frown crossed Iris's face. Sure, they weren't really weapons in the true sense and Shossk was, as he frequently appeared to be, logically correct. It just didn't sit well with her to go in ready for a fight... Still, it was what it was. Iris carefully tucked the pouch given to her by Shossk into her bag, remembering where it was placed. She knew from experience that in a fight, she wasn't going to have the luxury of fumbling around her belongings.
Ready to go now, Iris looked up to thank Shossk, but he was gone already. Layl was still hiding, too, so Iris gave the only one still in view, Yoko, her best reassuring smile. Then she walked in the direction of the other camp, keeping her steps casual.

Layl kept herself out of sight, no reason to break stealth and give the enemy a chance to notice her. She decided to keep as close to Iris as she could, since the girl hadn't shown herself to be one for combat. Better to stick as close as she can in stealth in case the fight starts immediately. Layl didn't want anyone to get hurt, especially since she didn't have her healing magic to just soothe it away! Maybe she would gain it back in time, but for now, she has to do her best with what she has!

Despite all of the moving around she had been doing lately (or perhaps because of it), Yoko had felt unusually tired while she was waiting for Vivorin to come back for her. Her eyes in particular felt like they were burning, and she rubbed at them in an attempt to relieve herself of the burning sensation. It didn't work. Maybe closing her eyes for a bit would help? With nothing better to do, Yoko decided to do just that....
~~~
When Yoko next opened her eyes, she was surprised to find herself staring at a completely different landscape. Before, she had been looking out at the open sky, but now, she found herself staring at a forest, and Iris was about to venture inside. Since Iris was here, does that mean she's on the next island? How did she end up getting here? Before she got too caught up in her thoughts, and before she lost sight of Iris, Yoko quickly followed after her.
The jaunt through the trees is short with no major issues, although as Iris and Yoko are not attempting to move silently they make plenty of noise. The glow of the campfire can be seen faintly through the foliage as the group nears the clearing. In the center, two figures are clearly visible, outlined by the light spreading out. They appear to be talking quietly to one another, the stockier of the two gesticulating wildly while the lither one sits without moving.
Shossk creeps up to the edge of the clearing, keeping an eye out to see whether the camp has realized his group's presence, specifically whether they're preparing an ambush.
Aside from a few glances back to make sure Yoko was still with her, Iris walks forward without interruption. The mystic tries not to think too much about Shossk or Layl. With zero capacity to lie, her best bet at helping them hide was to not to say anything about them in the first place. Hopefully, she steps into the clearing without any difficulty and greets the pair of opposites with a tentative, "U-um... Hello?" equal parts curious and worried. Her eyes do a quick scan of the camp to try and gather some sort of first impression of the camp and those within it.
While on a superficial level the clearing looks much like it did from the air, roughly circular with four tents scattered around. Two nearby to the central fire and two further back. On closer inspection, it's clear that there are certain patches of ground that look strange as if the groundcover had been disturbed and then put back. When Iris enters and speaks the two figures near the fire turn and stand up. One appears to be a bipedal bear, broad-shouldered with a hunched posture he stands tall over his companion. The other is lithe with a long green cloak covering her, at her hips are a pair of slender swords. As she stands she puts a hand on one defensively. The Bear-man puts a hand toward her, seeming to calm her down. Turning to Iris he speaks in a deep rumbling voice. "Greetings. May I ask what you want with us?"
Four tents. Shifted earth. Iris eyed the bear man rather curiously, clearly never having seen anything quite like him before, but when she thought about it, he wasn't really that much different from Shossk. They both looked like they would be pokemon but were actually people. She recovered and returned the polite greeting with one of her own, "Hello, we saw your camp from the island up above and thought it wouldn't hurt to see who might have set up here. By the way, I'm Iris, and the friend behind me is Yoko."
The bear puts his hands together and gives Iris and Yoko a low bow. His companion eyes the pair with a wary eye.
"I am Hurn and my companion here is Selis. I sympathize with your curiosity, but under the circumstances, I am sure that you will understand our being wary of visitors. The creature of azure flame stated that groups would be incentivized to prey on one another did it not? May I ask where your other companions might be?"
Iris, feeling compelled to return the gesture, followed the bear's bow. "I... can understand," she hesitated to answer, not being certain herself of whether she felt more comfortable dropping her guard or keeping it up, "We were told the same by AL, so the others in my group were too suspicious to appear openly. However, we've all agreed that if conflict can be avoided, then it is best to do so."
Hurn nods while Selis makes a quiet indignant snort. The Bearman gives his companion a glare before turning back to Iris and Yoko.
"I feel much the same. But why even contact us then? You risked yourself and your companions by making first contact, what do you wish to gain from this? Curiosity is well and all but you know nothing of us. I wish to keep things civil between us so I feel compelled to expose my fears and those of my rude companion. Wile your companions may be shy them not showing their faces is worrying, this smells of ambush to me. How do we know otherwise?"
Shossk continued to make no sudden movements, eyeing the exchange from behind a tree. Though he couldn't empathize with Hurn, the bear's voiced concerns were promising. Suspicions of traps and ambushes often led to conflict. If Iris was not able to placate Hurn and his group, a fight may still break out.
The subtle tightness in his chest from before lessened in favor of something lighter, and Shossk identified it along with the slight tension in his muscles. It was... anticipation, he was told?
Shossk tightens his grip on his bow. He adjusts his stance ever-so-slightly in readiness, like a predator poised to strike.
Iris stared straight into the bear's eyes, leaving herself open to judgment as she judges him in return.
"To ease your worries about a potential ambush, let me say this. If we had intended to attack you from the start, then I would not have appeared in front of you. I support from behind and have no reason to be in front of the enemy. I hope you can believe me on that. As for why I risked first contact? I have just met my companions less than a day ago, so I cannot quite speak for them. Personally, I do not like the idea of harming others stuck in the same predicament as me, and I hold no love for this AL being. However, if we simply walked past you, we could have left ourselves open to an ambush from behind. In the case that you were interested in attacking us, I thought it would be better to be struck at first here, when I'm expecting it, than to be hit from behind. If you weren't interested in attacking us, then there was no reason to worry about making first contact."
Iris paused for a bit to collect her thoughts.
"I can understand your discomfort, though, and I have to admit, it is rather infectious. I was hoping we could work together and trust would be easier to come by, but I guess... something like that will require more time. I'm sorry for any trouble I may have caused. If you would like, I can leave now so that you may rest easy."
Layl continues to skulk at the edges, contemplating joining the group with Iris to show they meant no hostilities, at least if they didn't, but being as she was focusing on her stealth, she didn't quite pick up on what they were saying. She would wait for a signal, or a sound, something that definitely required her attention before she would actually break stealth.
Layl's hand edged near her Pokeballs, considering letting one out, but she didn't know how good any of them were at sneaking, but having her hand on one wouldn't hurt if a fight broke out. She nodded to herself as she made the decision to put her hand on Fantasia's ball, she had healed her up in case of a fight, so it made the most sense, the rest of her team was all injured.
