Sturdy he might be, but Thoron's Pokemon wasn't indestructible. So, Thoron decided to keep an eye out for incoming attacks and warn the creature. But at the same time, he joined in on the chatter. " You seemed quite surprised, Lethe. As though it was the first time anyone had ever beaten you in your own lair." Thoron binds Capricious Whirl to Lowe. No Shift.

"No." Lethe says bluntly to Silas, "You speak nothing but lies. You seek only to throw me off. It. Will. Not. Work. All those who have stood against me have died. And you. Are. Not. Special." She punctuates this with a twirl that neatly brings her and the swords out of the way of Gus' spores. Austin moves up next to Lowe, and attempts to trade blows with Lethe, but her swords just casually bat his swing aside, without her even looking at him. Those eyes on the hilts certainly aren't just for show... With them looking at Austin, though, Bergmite is able to get a chomp in at one of the blades, scoring some light scratches on the blades, which briefly glow with exposed internal energy, before hardening over. Gus misses with Stun Spore. Austin Misses with Psycho Cut. Bergmite hits with Bite. It's super effective.

Thoron wondered for just a moment if someone stealing away your memories counted as going against you... But dismissed the thought for now. The battlefield was no place for philosophizing, and Lethe was unreachable anyways. Lowe could help bridge that gap, though. With a command from Thoron, he sprung forward to discharge his attack on Lethe... And then follow up with a bite of his own. Thoron uses Commanders Voice (Standard) to apply Dazzling Dervish and Strike Again! to Lowe.
Lowe uses Spark on Lethe. AC2 - _jjQt8qT1d20+1 (Paralyze on (raw) 15+) DB8 charged - 4d8+34 Physical Electric damage
Lowe uses Bite on Doublade. AC2 - 1d20+1 (Flinch on (raw) 15+) DB6 - 2d6+22 Physical Dark damage
Lowe disengages to P5. 1d20+1·4d8+34·1d20+1·2d6+22

As Lowe jumps for Lethe, one of the swords jumps in to block it, swinging in front of the cat... and emitting a screech as Lowe's discharged electricity runs through it. The eyes seem to twitch a little bit, as Lowe moves in to bite, but he's unable to get through the steel coating of the blades. Glaring at Lowe, Lethe twirls for him, swiping twice with the blades, causing the Luxio to dissipate into energy, returning to Thoron's Pokéball once more. In return, Benison moves forwards, the plant growing vines which knock the blades around some, scoring their surfaces. Bree gestures to Lethe, concentrating, and the girl begins to float in the air, held in place. She scowls at Bree, snapping, "Stop that this instant!" Bree merely smiles back and winks. Doublade is Paralyzed by Spark. Bite misses. Lowe takes 29 damage, an injury, and Faints from Double Swipe. Hit two times! A critical hit! Doublade takes an injury from Knock Off. Lethe is affected by Telekinesis.

With both Lethe and her weapon trapped, Silas seizes the opportunity to throw a Pokeball at the swords. With any luck, the the capture of her partner will motivate the assassin to stick around, even when she could escape through the floor. Instead of opting to respond to Lethe, Silas watches her reactions, hoping to see a broader range of emotion out of her. With his primary obstacle suddenly out of the fight, Gus releases a torrent of it's most potent spores at Lethe. Silas throws a Great Ball at Doublade AC 6: 11 Cap roll: 57-10-9=38

Lethe's face is that of shock, at the capture of her swords from out of her hands. It doesn't last very long, though, as Gus' spores cause her to have a choking fit, although she seems determined to stay awake, motivated perhaps by sheer hatred. Austin takes advantage of the lack of parrying capabilities to slash at Lethe, followed with Bergmite chomping at her leg. She looks a little bit panicked now, glancing at the Pokéball that had captured her weapon. With determination, she manages to struggle enough against Bree's grip to bring herself flat against the ground... and brings her foot down against Silas' ball, smashing it. She still seems fairly dazed and coughing from the spores, but there's a determined glare around at her foes. Locking onto Silas, her swords glow with a purple light, and she slashes at him with them. Once more, he gets a wound from the striking, but the unearthly energies seem to just get sucked away. The swords twirl quickly around after the less-than-fully-successful strike against Silas, instead slicing for Bergmite, nicking in the little critter's icy hide in retaliation for the bite earlier. Benison unleashes a spray of corrosive liquid that drenches Lethe, her swords... and Austin. There's a moment of fear on Austin's face, as he throws up his arms... and a shimmer on his skin fades as he comes out unharmed. The swords are similarly unaffected... but Lethe is not so lucky, and collapses to the ground, acid still bubbling on her in some parts. ...She'll probably need to replace her clothes after this, too. The swords are still up, though, and swirl around menacingly above Lethe, even as Bree buffets them around with a psychic blast a little. It doesn't seem to particularly do much, though. Doublade is Captured. Gus hits with Spore. Lethe is Drowsy. Austin hits with Wounding Strike. Lethe takes an injury from Ice Fang. Silas takes 9 damage from Shadow Punch. Lethe saves against Drowsiness. Bergmite is hit by Shadow Sneak. Benison hits Austin, Lethe, and Doublade with Acid. It doesn't affect Doublade. Austin uses Protect. Lethe takes 2 injuries and Faints from Acid. Bree hits with Psychic on Doublade. It's not very effective.

Silas is relieved that he was protected from the attack once again but finds himself unable to be happy with the way they knocked Lethe unconscious. He throws another ball at the swords, hoping that this time, they will stay caught. Perhaps the accumulated fatigue of the day is wearing on him, because while he still hits the target, it's not nearly as good of a throw as the previous one. Seeing the repeated capture attempts, Gus opts out of the aggressive approach and instead sprays sickeningly sweet spores over the area, somehow soloing out the swords. Silas uses Great Ball, moves to M2 AC 6: 14 Cap Roll: 74 (bonuses already applied)
Gus to O3, Sweet Scent on Doublade. AC 2: 4

Lethe was down, the Doublade was disoriented and beset on all sides... Basically, if ever they were going to finish with a capture, it was here. Thoron took aim carefully and lobbed a Pokeball at the living weapon. Thoron uses a Great Ball to attempt a Capture on Doublade. Thoron makes a Record of the Doublade. AC6 - 12 Cap: 35 - 10 (Great Ball) - 9 (level) = 16

The swords seem to turn, pointing with their blades towards Lethe's body. But, Thoron is faster than they are, and his throw is true. With that, the ball clicks shut on the swords, and falls to the floor next to their unconscious former wielder.
There's, once again, the sound of silence. Broken shortly by the voice of Omega. "Try and make sure she stays here until reinforcements arrive. They should have some sedative with them, to enable her to be transported back to HQ for evaluation. She's too unpredictable and dangerous - and slippery - to just be tossed into a holding cell down here."

Their reinforcements weren't far off, so proper detainment wouldn't take all that long. As a matter of personal curiosity, Thoron asked, "Right. Bree, she can phase through the floor without warning. Can you...?" Making a vaguely lift-like gesture, he continued, "It seemed to hamper her mobility. In the event she tries to escape."
After that, Thoron stepped over and secured the capture... And the crushed Pokeball.

As soon as the danger has passed, Silas turns his attention to Ethan, holding on to the small chance that there's something, anything he can do for the boy. Unfortunately, any window of opportunity Silas might have had has passed. He can only hope that the blood loss caused by the vampiric blades to fall unconscious and die without much pain. Silas sighs and stands slowly. He's seen death before, and he'll see it again, so one more won't affect him. He can't let it.
Silas rejoins the others after Thoron makes his suggestion. "If that's your plan, two minds would be better. And there's something I want to try." Silas switches his active Pokemon. When Sera has stabilized her physical shape, Silas directs her attention to Lethe's unconscious form. "Her mind has been ravaged by a human Psychic, probably for years. I don't know if there's something you can do, but... it's worth a try, right?" The day's fatigue is clear in Silas's voice. That's all there is to it. It's been a long day.

The Gardevoir crouches over the fallen elementalist, placing a slender hand upon her forehead. The Pokémon seems to concentrate some, staying like that a long while, before standing back up and looking at Silas. There doesn't seem to be any difference, initially, but after a few more moments, he notices that Lethe's face seems to almost twitch in a flicker of a smile, although she's still clearly unconscious.
It's not too much longer before other Technicians arrive - about a dozen of them - led by Lieutenant Foster. She glances at Lethe, before gesturing at another Technician who moves to tend to her and inject her with something. "Well, they don't make this place easy to find," she quips, as that's occurring. "I hear that you've had a... rough couple of days, to say the least. The good news is, your job is basically done now. You just need to take her" she gestures to Lethe "upstairs with you when you go up for debriefing. The rest of us will take it from here." She lowers her voice. "Something big's happening here, I think, if they've sent this many of us. I haven't been fully filled in what happened here, yet... but it must have been quite something." She returns to a normal volume. "Anyways, since you'll have a... passenger, you've got permission to use the elevator at the warehouse. Unless there's something urgent that we should be informed about, I believe you're dismissed." She nods. "Glad to see you're all in one piece, though."
With nothing much to say, the group of Technicians (and 'cargo') make their way back up to HQ in a thankfully uneventful journey. Once there, Lethe is quickly taken off of their hands. It takes a little bit to get things sorted out for the debriefing, but Austin and Bree are directed elsewhere for that, while Thoron and Silas are sent to Cain's office.
The now-duo is admitted fairly quickly, and the senior Technician waits for them to be seated before starting. "So... you all made it out of there alive. That's good. When the report of exactly what you were engaged with came in... I was afraid we'd lose most of a team. If not all of it."

After collecting his thoughts and fruitlessly hoping one of his teammates would speak up first, Silas responds. "Have you fought them before? Because if it had committed to killing one of us, I don't think we could have done anything. Also, you might want to add a note to whatever file there is on Silvally: they explode." Silas grimaces at the memory. "And if I'm allowed to know, what are the other teams doing down there? It's not like there were people or Pokemon when we left."

Nodding in agreement, Thoron added, "I expect Omega recorded the encounter, but let us know if you need other perspectives. The Silvally was a particularly memorable foe," before proceeding into his own response. "Dispatching with the creature was a coordinated effort, and we would certainly have been overwhelmed without the admirable behaviours of Technicians Valadian and Floros... Even so, we were unable to predict its spiteful final gambit."
"Based on circumstantial evidence, neither of the Elementalists in that organization's employ were familiar with the Silvally, or equipped to respond to it in any meaningful sense. As such, one is lead to believe their occurrence is exceedingly rare even among volatile Pokemon species. Due to the tremendous threat they pose, I would like to request access to our records concerning previous Silvally incursions."
"That aside... On-site observations suggest the Silvally had an objective in its arrival, and we were able to confirm that all unregistered Pokemon present were set loose by it."

At Silas' question, Cain stays silent for a while, clasping his hands, before reaching into one of the drawers of his desk. He pulls out a rectangular object before wordlessly handing it over for the other two Technicians to see. It's a framed photograph of four people. The one in the middle is clearly a younger version of the man sitting in front of them, with one arm around a bright-eyed, brown haired girl in the middle of toughing. Off to one side, leaning against a pillar is another, darker-haired girl, with a severe face but a slight smile. The last person is a blond girl who towers above the other three, almost touching the top of the picture... though her feet are clearly not touching the ground.
The senior Technician gives them a moment to look it over, before speaking again. "That was my team, way back. Good times. We became the best of friends. But, nothing lasts forever..." He sighs. "It was a mission to the Under. It was the first test of what would eventually become the P*DA system. Except, unlike with yours, there was no HQ link. Entirely autonomous. Anyways, a portion of the Under had been suffering attacks, and we needed to stop it. Well... it turned out to be one of those things. First time that anyone'd seen one."
"Unusually, it seemed to be leading other Pokémon... so, that was concerning. But, even when we saw it just casually dispatch a Pokémon that seemed to no do what it wanted, our proto-Porygon's analysis figured we could take it. That we wouldn't need backup. That was... a mistake." He closes his eyes. "The bastard was strong, and we had no chance. Someone needed to get back to HQ, report on what happened... that was me. Back then, I just wanted to stand and fight alongside them... and I wonder even to this day if we could have got it. But.. you have to live with the choices you made. I ran, taking the fainted Pokémon that I could back. When reinforcements were sent... they never found the bodies. Lots of blood, lots of fighting, but... nothing."
Cain shakes his head. "The thing wasn't seen again for a while, until it was destroyed when it spearheaded an attack on... well, that's neither important nor relevant." He gets back into a more serious, and less pensive, mood. "Anyways, the takeaway there, is that you're lucky to be alive. And it's also why your Porygon are required to stay in link with HQ at all times, and not to provide suggestions. Assessments and order relaying only."
"And... what are they doing down there?" he repeats, looking at Silas. "Well, for one thing, sweeping the area. The occupants departed rather hastily, so they might've left something important behind. But, we're also going to try and clean the place up. It's crossed the line into being a hazard for the whole city. That's unacceptable."
Cain glances at Thoron when he requests data. "Well, you've just heard the sum total of all the encounters that we know of. As for actual records... I'm afraid that request is denied."

Silas isn't exactly optimistic about their plan to 'clean the place up'. One does not get rid of years of rot just by purging a few key operations. However, that can wait. Silas has had theories about Pokemon for some time, so it's time to take a small risk and ask. "Is there any chance that it is the same one, perhaps weakened by its past defeats? This one seemed like it had a grudge, lead some Pokemon, and killed others."

A first-hand account was an acceptable substitute, so Thoron nodded, "Understood." Still, he wanted more concrete details, so asked, "In lieu of that, when were these two incidents, the first sighting and the later attack?"
He didn't much like the implications of Silas question, but putting that aside added, "Outside of open hostility toward humans, the Silvally's behaviour was difficult to predict, displaying obvious yet baseless preference toward the Pokemon it encountered. 'A grudge' would not be an inaccurate description."

Cain's expression is unreadable as Silas ventures his guess. "Given that it was destroyed in a prior engagement, I find that highly unlikely, Technician Floros." He's silent for a few moments after Thoron's question. "It's been over twenty years now since... that mission. The second sighting was only a few months later."
"Don't you think, Kakomyalo," he asks, "that if we could predict what Pokémon would do beyond the most base assumptions, that we'd have less of a problem than we do now?"

Silas's eyes narrow at Cain's response, trying to read the unreadable. The man isn't stupid; he should know what was meant by the question. Was that particular theory incorrect? Or was Silas just spared from the fate of those who ask the wrong kind of questions. His face becomes a mirror of Cain's. "Alright. Are there any more details you need from us, sir?"

Caught by the response and making no effort to hide a frown, Thoron answered, "Indeed we would. I have no further questions, sir."
