"Good t'see a friendly face on open waters, Gentleman Wu." Victor greets the older man respectfully after a pause to scratch under his cap with a broad finger as though combing old memories for a face to go with that name. With an amicable shrug, he takes to the roam ladder and boards the merchant vessel. "Could go fer something a grass pokemon would be fond of, or something fancy." He commented offhandedly, mind still on the spat he had with Precious the day before.

Gina had never really seen a merchant vessel up-close before...Sure, some stopped by the harbor and their crews would come get a drink, but it wasn't like there was much business around Shimotsuki. Everyone else seemed to know exactly what to do and how to act, which was best summed up as 'don't be an idiot'. Victor, the makeshift captain, boarded first, and Gina followed, curious about what all he had to offer. Dolly followed by simply flying up and perching on the railing, her injuries from the other day healed up, though her floof would be slower to recover. A tragedy, to be sure. Once upon the deck, Gina took a curious look around, making note of all the pokemon he had helping him. They must be his partners; Gina just really had Dolly, though maybe she should look into getting some more...Maybe not the Inkay, as she hadn't really felt much for it when she patched the poor thing up, but something more musical and jolly. Maybe he was in the pokemon selling business as well? It felt kind of wrong to just sell a living creature, but it was also wrong to just keep it around when she didn't really care for it...Maybe Mr. Wu could at least find the Inkay a good home where she would be loved. That would be nice. Victor was also the first to do business with the man, and Gina patiently waited, pulling out the premier ball with the Inkay inside. Once he was taken care of, Gina stepped up to see what to do about her little companion. "Gentleman Wu, do you happen to handle pokemon trading? I caught an Inkay yesterday and healed her up, and I'm looking to either sell her off or trade her for something else." She asked politely, offering said ball for him to inspect. Charm to get on Wu's good side, maybe cut a good dealio: 18

Gladius looked over as they pulled up alongside the trader. There wasn't really anything he thought that he needed...aside from a proper pirate ship...so he decided it would be better to go and spend some time with the Mantyke he was trying to befriend. He walked over to where the flying fish was lazing about in his bucket and squatted down next to him.
"Hey there friend," he started, "I've got an offer for ya. See, me and Aquila are pirates, and I'm looking to put together a crew...and I think you'd make a perfect addition to my crew," he started, trying to win over the fish. "We got along pretty well together, so whadda ya say we make this official and you join my crew, huh?," he asked, pulling a spare pokeball off of his belt.

As they approached the ship Ezra went through his bag looking for spare change, he knew that he'd tossed the odd bit in here somewhere. After a short while of rummaging, he came up with around 200 beli. That... Was not going to get him really far. Maybe he could see if the old man was willing to bargain. He didn't feel like selling the Skrelp, it seemed to have taken a shine to him and he didn't have the heart to toss it to some random man after tearing it away from its home. He could have tried selling some fake potions to the old man but he'd dumped them out on watch last night. Whoops, he supposed that's what sentimentality got you. Grabbing out the little cash he had found Ezra climbed up the ladder up to the deck of the merchant's vessel. As he climbed he turned back and saw Gladius talking to the Mantyke. He seemed to be floundering again. Ah well, he could handle it. Once he finished climbing Ezra stood near the ladder waiting for the others to finish before he cut in.

Wu's friendly smile never leaves his face as he steps back to let the group on board properly, his eyes scanning over you all... and constantly coming back to Gina for another once-over. He focuses on Victor though as the man speaks first. "Ah! You wish to trade?! Well Wu have many things fit for plant types. Nice bags of loam to nestle in, even throw in a clay container to keep from getting too messy. Perhaps a Big Root, keep them healthy in battle? Also very good for memory. And Wi have incenses, very popular, gives an air of majesty to a pokemon with the right fragrance. Or perhaps a nice ribbon, some sparkly stones? Wu offers many options there, from paste jewelry to some decent quality gems." Leaving Victor to ponder his options, Wu steps forward to Gina, taking her hand and gallantly kissing the knuckles. "Ah, you do this old fool's heart good. Has been very long time since such a vision has crossed Wu's path. And you have a pokemon you wish to trade you say? Hmmm..." He steps away, taking the premier ball with him and examining the readouts that it displays. He takes a few moments to think, pacing around slightly, and inadvertently herding the group on-board further towards the center of the deck, stroking his chin with the hand not holding the ball ̦́ͣͨ͛ͮ͛ͨͥͭͮͩ̚̚̚͢ͳͩͯͬͦͩͨ̚̚͟͡Ͳͪͬͣͨ͛ͦͣͨ̚̚͟͟͟͟͝͞͡ͱͣͮͮͮ̚̚͢͢͟ͳ̦ͪ̚͟ͳͩͯ̚ʹͬͩͣͨͩͨͮ͛ͮͮ͛ͮ͑ͯͣͭ͛ͪͪ͛ͬͨͮͦ̚̚̚̚̚̚̚̚͟͢͟͢͟͠͝ͳ͛ͪͬ̚̚͟Ͱ̵̨̡̠ͨͭͪ͂ͭ̚̚͜͟Ͱͬ͟ͳ̡̦ͩͩ͛ͮͧ͛ͭͥͣͨͣͮͯͮ͛ͦͮͮͣͧͭͮ͛ͦͥͣͨͮͩ̚̚̚̚̚̚̚̚̚̚̚̚͜͢͢͟͟͢͟͡͞͡͠͡ͳͩͯͬͦ͛̚͟͝Ͱ̦͛͛ͨͩͯͮͩͮͩͬͨͬͩ̚̚̚̚̚̚̚͟͢͟͟͡͞͠͝͠ͳͩͯͬ̚͟ͳ̚͟ͳͩͯͭͪͩͮͣͧͦ͛ͮ͛ͨͮͦ̚̚̚͢͜ͳ̚͟ͳͣͨ̚͟͡ͳ̵̨̡̠͍̦ͩͯͬ͛ͭͭ͛ͨͯͭͮ͛ͭͣͬͦͭͨͭͪͮͣͦͦ͛ͭͨͮͪͬͩͪͩͭͣͮͣͩͨ̚̚̚̚̚̚̚̚̚̚̚͜͢͟͟͜͢͟͢͟͞͝͝͞ͳ̡̜̜ͩͯͩͬͮͬͣͮͩͮ͛ͨͭͩͨͭͩͣͮͭͬͮ͛ͣͨͦ̚̚̚̚̚̚̚̚̚͟͟͢͟͞͡͞͝ͳ͛ͭͮͪͯͪͬͩͧͧ͛ͨ̚̚̚̚̚͟͠ͳͩͮͭͣͧͣͦ͛ͬͮ̚̚̚̚͢͟͠ͳͪͭ̚͟ͳͩͯͬ͛ͨͣͨͮͩ͛ͥ͛ͮ̚̚̚̚̚͜͝ͳ̵̡̨̠̦ͩͯͬͧͩͮͬͭͣͨͨͨͭͪ͂ͦͦ͛ͦͣͮͮͦ͛ͬͧͦͭͭͪ͛ͨͬͣͨͧͣͮͭ̚̚̚̚̚̚̚̚̚͢͟͜͟͟͢͟͟͢͞͡͡ͱ̶̸̨ͮͨͮ͛ͦͬ̚̚͟͟͟͢͟͟͜͞è After circling several times, Wu stops and hands the pokeball back to Gina. "Unfortunately Wu does not have any pokemon available at the moment. But! Wu is generous. Have some eggs, was traded as a favor. Found out later that the fool mislabeled them all! How can Wu sell egg that he doesn't know what will come out of?! But for a pretty lady, may be able to come to some sort of agreement. Last egg, was labeled Barboach. Hatched into Cubchoo. Cubchoo! Wu was mortified. Luckily client's daughter liked it more than thought of muddy eel. Can say though, all mon would be of good stock, at least equal to the potential this little trouble-maker would have. Would even be willing to throw in free pokeball for when it hatches." He gives Gina a lazy smile.
Back on the deck, the Mantyke seriously considers Gladius' words. After a few minutes it nods rapidly... before squirting him straight in the face once again. While the fighter attempts to clear his vision, he hears the tell-tale ping of a successful capture.

Being a barmaid in a tavern full of sailors and pirates and the like, Gina immediately took note of the staring and sudden attention she got, and came to the entirely-accurate conclusion that Gentleman Wu was, in fact, a shameless perv. However, he wasn't getting handsy or trying to get her to 'serve' him privately, so that made him better than at least 30% of her customers back home. And Ezra and Victor were up here with her, which was comforting; might be worthwhile to play it up, maybe get an extra egg or a Premier Ball for her trouble...Mainly the latter.
"Oh, that sounds wonderful!" Gina said enthusiastically, adding a little excitement bounce to catch Wu's eye. As if he wasn't already looking. She then folded her arms under her chest, further emphasizing them as she continued thoughtfully. "Hmm...This will be my first time hatching a pokemon, though, and I just don't know what all I'll need...Is there anything you can do to help a poor girl out?" She cooed. Dolly rolled her eyes on the railing as her trainer hammed it up, deciding to preen her feathers while they did business.

Gladius wiped the seawater from his face, but was pleased to have another crew member, at least. "We're gonna have to work on our communication, ya little squirt...," he grumbled, releasing the Pokémon back to its bucket. "But that does remind me...maybe this guy will have some? Every good pirate crew needs one...," he said, tapping his chin thoughtfully. "You and Aquila watch the boat." Gladius then went over to the merchant's ship, climbing up just as a discussion about eggs was taking place.
"I like eggs," he chimed in, clambering up onto the deck. "Scrambled, or hard boiled for me," he chimed in. He straightened himself up and started to look around the wares. Not seeing anything that immediately caught his eye, he turned toward the Merchant.
"Hey old timer, you got any black sail cloth and some different colored paint? You know, the kind you use to make a flag?," he asked bluntly.

After the others had said their piece Ezra chimed in. "I'm looking to get a few bits of medical kit, I might be interested in one of those eggs as well. How much would you want to sell one for?" Ezra scratched his chin thinking about his limited funds for a moment. "I've got medical experience if you happen to need something looked at I wouldn't mind making a deal." Ezra flashed the man a winning smile and put on his showman's face.

Victor watched Gina's display with a quirked eyebrow and a degree of hesitance. It was shameless, what she was doing clearly, but he supposed in her walk of life that was just the way of things. Being provocative brought success, and she was beautiful. With so many addressing Gentleman Wu at once, Victor excused himself back towards the vessel they'd left, though not far. Releasing Precious with more verbal gusto then usual, she wouldn't so much as look at him, but the Bulbasaur seemed surprised when he picked her up.
Her new owner had never been the physically affectionate type before his change, and always offered verbal affection in a dry begrudging sort of way that the Pokemon had chosen to ignore until their fight. This was somehow more genuine, but she didn't want to trust it even as those broad fingers worked at the lower edge of her bulb, one of her favorite places to be scratched. He remembered! He hadn't done it in all their time together... but he remembered... Her eyes lidded to irritated acceptance, and she left her chin rest on his forearm.
"Precious, you will always be special and beautiful." Victor cooed softly. "We're going to pick out some nice things for you, we found a merchant vessel." He explained. Her head rose and she considered him with sharp suspicion. "Saur?"

Wu's eyes track Gina's movements with a happy smile and slightly glazed eyes, while the Hoppip on his shoulder simply held on for dear life, though it managed to shoot Gina a look that was clearly readable as "Really? You had to do this?". "Ohhohohoho Wu will be happy to help the pretty young lady bring new life into world! Will throw in an Egg Warmer for free! Just need to keep egg warm and cozy and nestled in a soft place and will hatch very soon!" As Wu was speaking, the Timburr shook its head, and headed down into the hold, followed by the Magnemite. Wu's smile faded though as the lovely view was interrupted by Gladius' rough voice. He raises a brow as he takes a step to the side, coincidentally closer to Gina, to let him look Gladius in the eye without straining his neck. "Oh? Think you're a pirate? In such little boat, with only four people?" He chuckles. "Wu has seen worse starts, but you need to learn tact boy. What if Wu had been a sting operation by Marines?" He spits to one side, grumbling about tax levies, while the Hoppip takes a chance to get to relatively stable ground, jumping from Wu's shoulder to land on the brim of Gina's hat... and promptly slipping down and into the girl's cleavage as the brim of the hat flopped down under the weight of the mon. Surprisingly Wu still keeps half his attention on Gladius, rather than turning all of it onto the spectacle. "Wu thinks that you are not ready for such items. Not yet. None of you have claimed captaincy, none have shown to be more in charge than the other. Though perhaps the pretty lady should be in charge? She shows Wu much... respect, and bargains well." Wu turned to give Gina a smile even as he deftly plucked his pokemon back out of marshmallow hell by one of the leaves sticking out of her dress. He turns back to Gladius, looking more serious. "Wu has many other items, restoratives, utilitarian gear, even pokeballs. But for you? He has no material for a Jolly Rodger. Not until one is earned." ȠɅȺȽɂɎɌȅǹȺɌǹȰɎǹɌɉɈɄȾǹɒɈɎǹȿȾɅɍǹȺɌǹɂȿǹɁɂɌǹɐɈɋȽɌǹɁȺȽǹɅɂɍȾɋȺɅǹɐȾɂɀɁɍǹɍɈǹɍɁȾɆȅǹȻȾȺɋɂɇɀǹɒɈɎǹȽɈɐɇǹȺɇȽǹɂɆɉɋȾɌɌɂɇɀǹɍɁȾɂɋǹɌɂɇȼȾɋɂɍɒǹȺɇȽǹɃɎȽɀȾɆȾɇɍǹɎɉɈɇǹɒɈɎȇǿɇȻɌɉȔǹȲɈɎǹɁȺɏȾǹȻȾȾɇǹɐȾɂɀɁȾȽȅǹɆȾȺɌɎɋȾȽȅǹȺɇȽǹȿɈɎɇȽǹɐȺɇɍɂɇɀȇǿɇȻɌɉȔǹțɎɍǹɍɁȾɋȾǹɋȾɆȺɂɇɌǹȺǹȼɁȺɇȼȾȇȕȻɋȗè Dismissing the much larger man with surprising ease, the old merchant turns to Ezra. "Ah, Wu has many restoratives. And work? Hmm... Wu has crew to take care of things. But, Wu sometimes needs chores done. Wu has package that needs delivered to Koolari Island. Will give you letter of credit. Give to Brewmaster Shaw, and receive payment. Say, forty thousand Beli, to split? Would also allow for pick of one egg from extras, though will cost you two thousand Beli out of possible reward. Will allow for another three thousand in items to be bought on credit, but Wu will not go a Beli more than that." As Wu finishes speaking, the a set of cargo doors in the deck flap open, the Magnemite and Timburr emerging on a pulley platform that has a number of items of merchandise set up in mobile stands, and a crate packed full of straw, with nine eggs arranged around a strange artifact that is giving off some sort of field, visible as a shimmer in the air. Wu promptly scoops up one of the eggs, and offers it to Gina carefully. "Here. Wu thinks that pretty lady will do best with this one. Wu has good feeling about it."

After hearing the man's offer a few thoughts shot through Ezra's head. "What was the catch?" Reigned supreme amongst them but there were a few others like "What? For delivering a package?" and "I wonder how many ways Koolari is going to try and kill us.". Shoving these thoughts to the back of his mind Ezra smiled and nodded at the old man. "Sounds reasonable. But let me make sure everyone is up for it, one moment." Walking to the edge of the boat he called down to Victor. "Hey, I don't know if you heard that but the Gentleman Wu might have some work for us. We should talk it over." He gestured broadly toward the ladder before turning back to the others. "What do you two think?"

Gladius fidgeted uncomfortably under Wu's words and instinctively tensed, though he wasn't sure exactly why... Nothing the man had done had been particularly threatening. Gladius adjusted his stance.
"Maybe we're not ready for a Jolly Roger yet, and we aren't really a crew," Gladius admitted, "but make no mistake, I am a Pirate, and I'm going to be the freest man on the whole ocean, no matter what it takes," he said with firm determination, "and if you were with the Marines, well, then I'd fight you just like the last ones that tried to lock me up," he said with a wide, wild, almost menacing grin.
He perked up slightly at the name Koolari Island and walked over to the side of the boat with Ezra. "I don't see why we couldn't deliver his package, right Ezra? We were headed that way anyway," Gladius interjected. "I say we do it. What's the worst that could happen?"

"No, Kraken isn't getting anything." Victor rumbled to the Bulbasaur, though the slant of his eyes indicated a shift of attention towards Wu, he hadn't actually left the man's ship. It was rude to slip out during negotiations and also looked terribly suspicious. "Saur?" Precious asked in a wary but interested tone. "'E's the new guy, that's always how it's worked Precious, you know that. He wants to be better treated, has to show he's earned it." The Pokemon's head dipped again, and she seemed to be mulling through the circumstances. With Victor keeping her little body supported on one broad arm, and a finger working up under her chin, he turned towards Ezra.
"I heard'em. He ain't completely right either, not that Gladius ain't jumping the gun too." The cyborg shook his head. "Gentleman Wu, respectfully," He added. "Till we make landfall in Koolari, which was our course before you offered work, I'm navigator and captain of our 'dinky boat'. Flown pirate colors for years but never had the heart for piracy. 'Fore anyone agrees to anything on pay alone, it is good business practice to know what's in yer hold. So that said, what is your parcel and where's it going?"
Victor stood tall and firm, unflinching despite the reactions of his acquaintances. He was an old salt, and had been in the merchant racket for years now. "You are offered a degree of amnesty by your flown colors, where we're-" At this Victor shot Gladius a disparaging look. "Clearly not Marines. A shrewd merchant, and a generous one, are rarely the same man."

Wu was REALLY laying it on thick with the 'bring new life' line. But, hey, she got herself a free egg warmer. Not too bad for a bit of bouncing. She gave Wu a nod, smile, and "Thank you" before the guys started in with their...everything. The merchant didn't seem to take it lightly, either, which wasn't a great sign. And now there was a Hoppip in her cleavage, which Gina adjusted for the poor thing's sake. At least it was comfy for a moment before being plucked out during Gladius's scolding.
And now the real star of the show, the merchandise, raised up by the pokemon who snuck off before. Fabulous. Gina didn't fuss when he chose her egg, though did look curiously at the artifact...Given it was in the middle of a bunch of eggs, it was likely an egg warmer, like he mentioned earlier. Huh, she never saw one before. Fascinating. She pet her new egg lovingly and held it against her as the guys spoke about the potential delivery, with Victor pointing out the obvious 'we don't know anything about it' snag and acting all Captain-y...Or at least, what Gina thought was pretty Captain-y. He seemed to know what he was doing. Unlike Gladius, who just got chewed out, but also claimed himself as Captain...And then Wu tried to suggest her as captain during his speech, but she was CERTAINLY not Captain-y. She couldn't run a bar much less a ship.
In retrospect, it may have been a good idea to get roles settled after leaving port. Little late now. Hopefully there wouldn't be too much headbutting between the 'Captains'. She remained quiet and retreated to near the guys, waiting for a response as well. The barmaid would likely end up agreeing as long as it wasn't too illegal, since she kinda didn't have any money or means to support herself, given that her only job was now defunct and she didn't have any marketable skills besides being eye candy and having good balance.

Gladius bristled when he heard Victor chime in, and his ears started to burn.
"Wait, you think you're the Captain?!," he blurted out, going over to the side of Wu's ship and looking down at Victor. "That's not gonna work, because I'm the Captain," he said firmly.

"Oh god." Ezra thought to himself as he saw Gladius wind himself up over Victor's comment. Victor had a point but he knew this could get ugly. He edged away from the pair to give them enough room to settle their differences. He just hoped that things didn't get violent, he really wasn't equipped to pull two super humans apart. He decided to at least make an attempt at calming the situation down. "Let's figure out what Wu wants us to do, once we get the Koolari the pair of you can decide who's in charge. Maybe once we have an actual ship for someone to be Captain of."

"No, yer not." A sharpness bit into the lines of Victor's face as he looked up at the taller man, unflapped. "A real Cap'n holds what's best for his crew close to heart. A shrewd businessman, intelligent, connected, powerful. Yer a newly freed man looking out fer yourself, trying to play pirate all heavy-handed like strength and you be the only thing that matters." He was calm but vocal enough that it was clear he intended for everyone aboard to hear. The sort of projection one uses in their voice when there is to be no secrets.
"You go hunting for black sailcloth 'fore even addressing your fellow 'scapees about it. Gina ain't never been a pirate, and might want to just settle a new life. Ezra don't want to draw attention to himself." Finishing his statement he leaned in, his voice taking on a dangerous slant to it. "I served under your kind of Capn'ship already, I sure as hell won't again."

"For somebody who hasn't spent five minutes talking to me, you sure seem to think you know an awful lot about me," Gladius said in an amused tone, shaking his head. "So let's clear some things up."
He turned his gaze upward into Victor's eyes and locked in. There was an intensity to his stare, as if you could see flames dancing just behind his eyes.
"One," he said, holding up one finger, "I am the Captain, and nobody tells me what to do and what I am or what I ain't. Not you, not anybody," he said in a stern rebuke.
"Two," he said, holding up a second finger, "I hadn't asked any of you to join my crew yet. I wanted to get to know you first."
"Three," he said, raising a third finger, "being a Captain isn't all about what's in your head, being some kinda businessman, or even how strong you are. It's about what's in here," he said, thumping a fist on his chest, "an' from how you were in that jail, that's somethin' you lost."
"Fourth," he said without pause, holding up four fingers. "I was buyin' the cloth 'cause I planned to ask everybody tonight, then we could all design our Jolly Roger, at least everyone who joined the crew. Seems like it's a pretty good thing the old man didn't sell it to me after all."
"Which brings me to number five," he said, holding up five fingers. "If you've got a some kinda problem with me, and you've got somethin' to say, then be a man and say it," he said, leaning in towards Victor, the two barely inches apart. "I'm all ears."

Victor's brow settled low over his white eyes, expression becoming somber and sullen at the mention of losing his 'heart'. "I do have a problem with you Gladius. I've seen too many good men and women die for the sake of their passions. Their family. Me. Your heart can be in it until it fails, it will only carry you so far."
He felt heavy, storied, aged. There was too much to the twisting, whirring, and grinding in his chest. He didn't want to deal with this again, better to take whatever exit or fresh start may come. Sidestepping Gladius, Victor exhaled heavily. "Wu, I am handy with tools, could I pay my way to your next port of call with work?"

Wu has been observing the argument with rather obvious scrutiny. He's produced a pipe and his Magby lit it with a (very oddly well controlled) dribble of flame. Taking a long drag on it, he shakes his head sadly. "So, it seems the Anemone's venom has finally killed your spirit. Truly a pity. I imagine your old captain is laughing herself sick now, Victor Stone." His smile is grim. "Did you not know? Your former captain now stands among the ranks of the elite. One of the Shichibukai. They call her the Cerberus now, for she stands as a watchdog in the Grand Line, culling those pirates who wish to follow in Hatcher's wake." He takes another puff of his pipe, before blowing out an intricate smoke dragon. "Though if safe and quiet passage to some forgotten isle to spend the rest of your days is what you wish, I suppose I can accommodate you."
He turns to look at Gladius then, dismissing Victor totally. "The package I need delivered is merely a few barrels of spices for Shaw's personal rum recipe. He does a limited run of it every year."
