Victor strode with a heavy sense of purpose to the now still ball on the deck and lifted it between his large fingers. Burden weighted on both his palm and his mind, the new comrades in arms he had bonded with had things well in hand. Better he return to the wheelhouse and ensure the ship maintained good heading. He spared no words to the task, they were beyond him in those moments.
His thoughts were on Precious and her feelings. They had known each other for a long time, perhaps longer then he had known anyone else, and the sting of her vines was not something unfamiliar. It was a sensation he wasn't want to revisit, but somehow her lack of striking out at him stirred a strange uneasiness. As though the more volatile action might've been an easier road traveled.

The Frillish, seemingly committed to the attack now, flexes the tentacles that it had used to latch onto the railing, and throws itself forward and to the right, landing with a wet "plop" at the juncture between Gladius, Skrelp, and the remaining Inkay. Its body inflates like a balloon for a moment, before a wave of energized froth spews forth, catching all three of the combatants within its radius. Bubble AC 2: 16, Special Water Damage: 31 The Skrelp, distracted from its initial target by this unexpected deluge, lets out a gurgling growl, rolling forward as if to strike the ghost with its tail... before spinning on its axis somehow, and slashing across the Frillish's face with black-and-purple glowing fronds. The Frillish is heavily damaged, and its complexion takes on a distorted purple cast. Feint Attack AC NA: 19 POISON POINT ACTIVATES! Physical Dark Damage, 26, Frillish is Poisoned The Inkay is flustered by the attack, but keeps its focus on the human, pecking forward with its beak against the hardened armor once more. Oh, good, the battle was almost over! By the time Dolly got over there, it would likely be done, anyway, so instead the colorful little bird perched on the railing behind Mantyke, making friendly bird noises at the flap-flap. Besides, her wing was aching, anyway, and she did NOT want to fly any more than was necessary after taking down those sea punks.

As the stream of bubbles came towards him, Gladius dropped his shield and hunkered down behind it, letting the bubbles crash harmlessly against it and flow around him. This left him someone open to the Inkay again, but he was able to easily compensate, such were his defenses.
Seeing Gladius getting attacked fro. Both sides, and freshly rejuvenated, Aquila swooped in, pecking furiously at the Frillish's unguarded flanks.

With Aquila's attacks taking down the Frillish, only a lone, injured Inkay was left on the ship. Well, besides the Skrelp and Mantyke, but they were friendly, and Erza and Gladius had seemed to take a liking to them. Victor caught one of the other Inkay, and judging by the display earlier intended to keep it...Catching another one would be kind of redundant, and honestly Gina wasn't sure if she WOULD be able to find more of her special kind of pokeball outside of her home island.
A white-and-red pokeball had found its way to her hand, and she glanced at it...The guy who gave her these balls in the first place said he picked them up from some faraway land, right? Which meant they were probably for sale SOMEWHERE. Maybe she could risk it and save the others for more special pokemon...She'd heard of ones that can sing and play music, and she REALLY wanted to catch some of those as well, though she'd much rather have willing teammates instead of ones beaten into submission. Maybe...She could sell this pokemon? To a good home, of course. Would that be bad? Then again, she WAS technically a pirate now, even if she didn't really feel like it.
...Gina could decide later. Before she talked herself out of it, she threw one of her precious balls at the injured Inkay, hoping she wasn't making a big mistake.

The ball flies true, smacking the Inkay on the mantle, and drawing in the still-smirking dark-type with barely a struggle. It pings even as it hits the deck, signifying a capture.
Thesea in front of you all is calm, the fight left behind as Victor once more takes control of the helm. You have emerged victorious 'gainst the dangers of the open sea!
Mon Experience gained: 144 Loot: Possible new partners?
The Skrelp and Mantyke seem content to rest for the moment, both looking worn out. The Skrep leans against the railings, watching the atoll that was likely its home for its entire life until now fade further into the distance. The Mantyke doesn't seem quite as concerned, merely resting after so much hard swimming.

Ain't never seen her so pissed before she weren't lookin' for a pamperin'. Victor leaned against the wheel and kept course. He hadn't been much for words since the Jailbreak. A free man again, he could spend the rest of his life fruitlessly searching for his old crew and for Precious' old master. He hadn't even begun yet, another part of his mind quietly retorted. The fishbacks were what tore that family apart, if he did nothing else, he'd make them pay.

With the battle at an end, Gladius sheathed his sword, slung his shield over his back, and took a deep breath. He wished he could've done more...but didn't want to risk damaging the ship, not being able to swim and all.
Aquila flew over, perching on his shoulder, and Gladius scratched behind the bird's head happily. "Good job, Aquila. Couldn't have done it without you," he said with a smile. Aquila cooed and cawed happily at the attention.
Now, however, Gladius turned his attention to their new passengers...in particular the blye, flat one. He walked over to where it was resting, squatted down next to it and removed his helmet, placing it on the deck.
"Wow...I've never seen a fish like you before," he said curiously, looking at the Mantyke, "much less a fish that can fly...I bet that's gotta be pretty handy," he said, reaching out to poke its flipper/fin/wing appendage.

With Stone keeping the ship on course and the danger out of the way Ezra breathed a sigh of relief. Pokemon were better than Marines but he was still glad that was behind them. He patted Ann and made sure that she was alright before looking over at the rest of the crew. She seemed to be alright, he was glad things hadn't escalated too far. Ann languidly floated around his head making happy noises as he turned to look at the others. It seemed everyone was in one piece and no one had any other life threatening injuries so that was at least alright for now. In the middle of the fracas, he'd seen Dolly and Aquila take a beating so perhaps he should ask to see if they were alright. Well, either way, they seemed to be out of harm's way, for now, time to see about the two Pokemon that had remained on the ship. It seemed that Gladius was looking at the tiny blue one so Ezra decided he would see about the other. Walking slowly and carefully toward the purple and brown knobbly creature Ezra raised his arms placatingly as he spoke to it. "Ah, you got stuck on the boat. We're not going to hurt you." Thinking for a moment he continued. "Better to be here than stuck in a war zone at least." Ezra glanced at the disappearing atoll. "Leaving home can be hard though." Ezra's charm: 10

The Mantyke doesn't seem to appreciate the prodding, looking up at Gladius... before unleashing a stream of cold saltwater in his face. Not exactly an attack, but certainly not a gesture of friendly interest.
Ezra on the other hand seems to have better luck. The Skrelp's naturally hooded eyes watch the medicine man with wary interest, listening to what he has to say. It nods slowly, hopping towards the scarred man, and giving a slightly defeated sounding "Skreeeeel..." as it looks backwards once again. It certainly seems much more at ease than the other one did, even leaning slightly against Ezra's leg for balance.

As the crew relaxed and Gina grabbed her ball, she noticed Erza and Gladius trying to make friends with the mon remaining...And one having far more luck than the other. Was Gladius seriously poking it? Well, the reaction from the pokemon was expected, but not as bad as it could have been. Sighing, the barmaid joined Gladius and the Mantyke, kneeling down and smiling warmly at the creature, an air of calm around her.
"Hey, try just petting instead of prodding him; like this." She demonstrated to her crewmate, running a hand down the Mantyke's back roughly where the spine would be. It was like petting a Herdier or Persian, except wet and a little slimy instead of dry and fuzzy. So nothing like petting either of those pokemon, really. "Think like he is; if you were him, would you want some big strange creature coming up and poking you in the side? You've got to reassure him that everything's all right."
Dolly floofed up her feathers and huffed on the railing, TOTALLY not jealous that some new pokemon was getting pets from HER trainer. Nope.

Gladius spluttered as the spray of seawater caught him unexpected, coughing it up and shaking his head. "Why you little, ungrateful...," he started, getting angry...until Gina stepped over.
Gladius had an irritated frown on his face. "Well, if the strange giant had just saved my butt from some dumb squids, I'd show it a little more gratitude," he grumbled. He tried to mimic Gina's motions, but Gladius was not a gentle man. His hands were rough like leather, and his petting a bit more firm. He continued to grumble as he attempted to pet the Mantyke. "...Didn't do this with Aquila...just wrestled with him..."

This bunch that fell in wit me... or did I fall in wit them? They're alright folks I guess, course Gladius fits the mindset of a real pirate, but I've known plenty o'em to be good men. Someone thinks o'im as property though, don't sit right on the mind, or the soul. Gina's a sweet lil maelstrom, with a big heart who don't take no manhandling from nobody. Glad she's aboard, but sorry it was at the cost o'er home. Ezra don't talk nearly enough for my tastes, but 'e seems the sensible sort. Ehhh Victor, what're ya doin'?
The weight of his body on deck, and the gentle rock and sway of the helm in his hands was soothing, dreamily reminding him of the life he'd left behind with all of it's ups and downs. The sweat and tears, the doctoring and encouragement, the pyrrhic victory. His white eyes took in the ocean ahead unblinking as he dove further and further into memories.

Reaching down gently Ezra scooped the Skrelp up gingerly as it didn't seem to be the most stable creature on land. As he was about to go check out the supplies on board he had a thought, turning to the rest of the crew he said. "Well, thank you all. I know I most likely wouldn't have made it out of that if you all weren't there. That goes for last night as well." Looking down as the Skrelp he continued. "Alright, let's go see if there's anything for you to eat. If things were that bad I bet you haven't eaten in a while." Walking with care to not further disturb the Pokemon Ezra began rummaging through the supplies with Ann doing lazy figure eights around his head.
After a bit of searching, he found a barrel full of some basic Poke-chow, it wasn't anything spectacular but it was at least something. Setting the Skrelp down gingerly Ezra took a few handfuls of the chow and set it on the cover of the barrel. Setting it on the ground he told the Skrelp. "Well, here you go. Better than nothing, we'll get something better when we get to the next island." Picking another handful up he fed Ann from his hand, she chirped quietly as she ate. He felt at ease for the first time in a while standing there, it had been a hectic period there and he really hadn't let himself unwind for a while. He knew in the back of his head that it couldn't last but at least it was nice that he could still have these moments.

The Mantyke responds favorably to Gina's petting. It squirms a bit under Gladius' stronger pressure, but the slime on its body combined with the slick wet deck means that if the man puts too much pressure on one side or the other, the little mon literally squirts out from under his hand. Which seems to amuse the Mantyke greatly as it begins to actively attempt to get under Gladius' hand, squealing in glee each time it shoots across the deck in a new direction.
The Skrelp allows itself to be picked up, looking curious and a bit anticipatory at the prospect of food that he doesn't have to fight for.
The atoll has faded completely from sight now, and the sun is starting to pitch lower in the sky. It'll be dusk in a few hours...

"Oh, you like that, do ya?," Gladius remarked with a grin at the squealing Mantyke. Gladius spent the next several minutes helping the Mantyke use the ship's deck as a skating rink before an idea struck him. Pausing for a moment, Gladius went and got a mop, bucket, and soap, and used it to cover the deck in slick, slippery suds.
"There. Alright then, let's see how long you can keep going for!," he said, pushing down on the Mantyke and sending it sliding around on the soapy deck.

The sun sets upon a tired and sudsy Mantyke flopping down into a bucket of ocean water to sleep, while a Skrelp curls next to its new friend/food source, belly full. Dolly takes extra time to preen her trainer's plumage before they sleep, snuggling close. Victor's sleep is troubled, his dreams disturbed by questions that he has no answers to.
The night watches pass in peace, clouds scudding across the moon and stars, but no inclement weather, attacks by Sea Kings or other powerful creatures, and no sightings of ships flying either Marine colors or Jolly Rogers.
The next day proceeds similarly, until early afternoon, when Aquila gives a cry from where he's perched on the top of the mast. Following the direction that the eaglet indicates, and with the assistance of a spyglass passed among the four humans, you are able to make out the form of a much battered and heavily patched ship. It flies a large brilliant green flag with a pistol crossed over a sheaf of wheat. The inter-oceanic symbol for a Sea Merchant.

After hearing the Aquilla's cry Ezra extricated himself from the sleeping Pokemon and walked over to the railing. Casually leaning against it, he looked out at the ship on the horizon. When someone was done with the spyglass he glanced through it, green with a pretty common insignia. "Looks like a merchant ship to me. Looks like they've been through a bit of trouble lately." Passing the spyglass on he continued. "I really don't have much in the way of cash right now, but it might be worth hailing them to see if they have any interesting news."

"I'll bring us alongside, but they're going to be awful confused as to why we're running the colors we are without being in uniform. Might take us for pirates, but most of that bunch just do whatever's best for profit. Also that chance they ask we deal with that bit of trouble and not think much of the dress." Victor shook his head, and brought the ship to the right angle to come up beside the maindeck of the merchant vessel.

As you pull up alongside the vessel, you find that it's a bit smaller than many of the Sea Merchant ships you're all used to seeing. And vastly under-crewed at first glance. Until you see the Minccino sweeping the deck, followed by a Tentacool on a small wheeled board, lugging a mop and bucket as it swabs the deck. A hammering sound directs your attention to where a new railing is being pounded into place on the far side of the ship by a Timburr, while a Magby holds it steady, and a Magnemite hovers overhead, using small arcs of magnetic power to keep a level steady. Up near the prow, a weathered old man appears to be sleeping, a Hoppip perched on top of the umbrella he's using to keep the sun off. As the little plant sees the ship pulling up, it bounces down from its perch, landing on the man's stomach and startling him awake. "Eh, what's that?" He gets up, turning to look as your pinnace comes alongside his own Caravelle-class ship. The old man begins hurrying over, the Hoppip clinging to his shoulder only by dint of grabbing a mouthful of his collar. "Ah, new customers perhaps? Welcome, welcome, to Gentleman Wu's traveling trade ship! Wu has what you need!" he exclaims in grandiose tones, while his pokemon simply roll their eyes and continue at their different tasks. The trader gives you all a smile as he helps you tie up to the ship and lets down a rope ladder.
