"Hmph!" That's actually a pretty reasonable imitation there, though in Clay's case he's trying very hard not to look concerned for Flower. That was a pretty rough hit... but she's not down and out by any means. "Show her how scary you can be, Flower!"
She winks out suddenly, like her whole body was a suddenly-snuffed flame... then reappears suddenly behind Fennekin to give her a sudden shove.

The nimble fox seems to sense Flower coming and leaps out of the way at the last moment. It performs that weird mystical thing again. The girl smirks, sensing she has this in the bag.

Whatever the heck that fox is doing, it's enough to take Flower down. The squishy wax body isn't so great at handling physical attacks.
Clay makes a frustrated noise. "We never settled how many we were using. Two on two? You can't keep getting lucky hits in forever." And unfortunately Clay can't keep on being a graceful loser all the time when it happens for days on end.

"Okay then..." He hesitates for just a moment - does he pull out Sandy and interrupt the poor Mudkip's recovery for a chance to hit a weakness he knows, or does he go with the injured Red Child's powerful jaws? He doesn't know what other Pokémon she might have in store...
"Red Child, let's get 'em!" He stoops down to give the injured Growlithe a Potion, in hopes of bolstering him a little. Here, drink this... Don't worry, we can take her.

"I've had a rough week, okay? I was on my way back to the healers when you almost ran me over! I mean, I guess it's not your fault... I dunno how you can even walk in that silly outfit."
While Clay is busy insulting his opponent's fashion sense, Red Child manages to wriggle free of the mysterious aura before it can press in on him, and leaps forward to bite at the fox!

The Fennekin yips in pain as Red Child tears into its flesh, rendering it unconscious. If the rich girl wasn't scary before, she certainly is now. She quickly sends out another Pokemon, this time a floating ball of purple gas with a face.

Wow, that's a scary face. And "Gastly"'s is pretty spooky, too. Clay's grinning again, he thinks he might just stand a chance here after all. "I bet this is another spirit... but I know what your teeth do to those. Go for it, Red Child!"
Red Child evades the floating face's gaze when its eyes start to glow, and charges in, trying to sink his teeth even into the insubstantial body.

As Red Child's teeth somehow find purchase in the spectral form of Gastly, he suddenly lets go, confused as an unsettling purple aura envelops him for a moment.
Spite! No more biting!
"Finish it off, Gastly! Ominous Wind!"
The spirit obeys, sending waves of purple energy at Red Child.

The ghostly wind is more than Red Child can handle, but at least it's not quite so humiliating a defeat now. Clay huffs as he recalls Red Child. "Well, I guess I said two, didn't I? Good match. Had you on the ropes for a little while at the end there at least."
He shakes his head. "I don't have a whole lot of money but I can dig something up here..." She looks like she's got more than enough money of her own, but it's the principle of the thing.

"I don't need your money. Just get out of my way." The rude girl recalls her pokemon and walks past Clay, promptly ignoring anything else he may say or do.

Clay makes a hissing, popping noise once she's brushed past him, saying something very rude in candle-speak, seeing as the Gastly is already recalled and can't hear him do it. Clay has decided that candle language is very good for insulting people without sounding outright hostile - sadly most insults in Infernape are pretty loud and attention-drawing.
Then he turns to trudge back to the guild hall. Time to go see the healers... again.

The healers are now all quite familiar with Clay, and he once again gets an earful about taking better care of his pokemon. Especially ones that are already injured from before!

As they break up, Clay rounds up Sandy and Baloo and swims out in the direction of an interesting rock formation in the water. He's only got the one ball on hand, and its pattern makes him think it might be good to use it on a sea-dwelling Pokémon. He clambers out onto the rocks, wet clothes clinging, and starts looking around to see if anything might be living out here. Baloo follows him on the rocks while Sandy paces him in the water. Wild Encounter search! 1 of 3 from Survival. Shiny roll: 1d100

Out in the distance, Clay spots a yellow fin break the surface of the water briefly. Could be a Pokemon!

Hey, see that, guys? Let's go check it out! Clay gestures to Sandy and Baloo and they start paddling out towards it, though Sandy has to hang back to let the silly mammals who can't swim as fast as him keep up. Clay makes a low hooting noise the troop used to keep in contact over long distances, hoping to catch the attention of the fin's owner. Hello, anybody there?Channeling Sandy, also Baloo if there's enough time. Yes, I know I can't command both at once, they're just both out, whoever's not battling will probably hang back.
