"I, uh, happen to disagree with you on this one," Val says. "I'm always up for a challenge... but this seems a bit too much. I happen to like these islands. And would prefer to be able to enjoy them for longer than a few hours..."

Matt does a headcount of the bugs, losing track after the first dozen "Errr, right. Well then what do you think we should do? Book it back to the others? Climb up someplace real tall?"
He snapped his fingers and pointed "Oh, I bet they wouldn't chase us into the water! We could go jump in the ocean!"

"Uh... I think climbing's a better idea," Val says, nervously, still backing up from the bugs. "I'm... not a big fan of the water. Besides, how would the others know where we went?"

Steven and Julie
"I'm not sure," Randy said. "When I came out here, I saw that the Durant had chewed through the power cable. As soon as I fixed it, the old loudspeakers started making this horrid screeching noise, and the Durant swarmed in a rage. They chased me up here and won't let me down, or anywhere near my tools," he said. "There's gotta be something amiss in the old control tower, but I have no idea what," he said.
The Durant continued to eye Sirius, Tear, Julie, and Steven angrily, but made no move to attack.
Matt and Valerie
Dinah looked at the assembled masses of insects, then at Valerie. Her look was a mixture of concern and seeking confirmation. Clearly, Dinah got the impression that any move on her part, like putting up a reflective barrier, would be viewed as an act of aggression and incite the swarm to violence. Are you sure you want to do that?
The pokemon started to form a semicircle around the pair and their pokemon, but gave them a wide berth. Some of them did, however, start moving toward Randy's toolbox and start dragging his tools away, deeper into the heart of the swarm.

Steven frowns slightly. "Guessing it's the noise... we should check out the tower, then. Do you have the keys?" he shouts up the Randy, "The door was chained up."

Steven and Julie
Randy pats his belt and you can hear a faint jingling. "Yeah, I've still got themy right here," he said. "I never got a chance to go look, but...wait. You're not thinking of going to check it out yourself, are you?," he asked, clearly worried for your safety. "I can't let you do that! It's been years since anyone went into that tower. Who knows what kind of shape it's in? And on top of that, the Durant would probably attack you if you tried to get near it," he added.

"We were just at the tower! There were no Durant there that we could see! Besides, what te hell else are we supposed to do?! Twiddle our thumbs and hope Santa Claus shows up to come save you!? Stop being so annoyingly responsible and toss me the Arceus-danged keys!" Steven shouts, somewhat annoyed.

Steven and Julie
Randy looked, and sounded, conflicted. "Even...even if I tossed you the keys, once you got in there you wouldn't know what you were looking at! You wouldn't be able to fix whatever's wrong...," he said, a defeatist tone to his voice.

Julie listens to the back and forth between Steven and Randy, and even considering the situation, she can't help but smile a little. Leave it to Uncle Randy to act more like a parent than her parents did. "We'll be fine Uncle Randy, we have pokemon ourselves, and it's not like we're going to be stupid enough to attack a huge swarm if we don't have to. Besides, I'll know exactly what I'm looking at, you're the one that taught me everything I know about machines! It took me about two seconds to figure out all of the equipment at the secret research station, I'll be fine!"

"Oookay... maybe not do that, Dinah." Val says, "Uh, maybe they just want the tools?" she asks, with some false hopefulness in her voice.

Matt frowned as the Durant began to circle them "I'm not a big fan of being surrounded like this....But, I wonder why they're keeping such a distance...."
As they began to pull away with the toolbox, Matt yelled out without thinking "Woah, stop right there!"
He bit his lip a moment later, whispering under his breath towards Val "Errr, sorry about that...It might be a good idea to start heading towards the others....At least we know what they are and where they're coming from"

Steven nods at Julie's statement. "Listen to the girl, we got this! You gotta trust us on this, cause at the moment, we're your only freaking hope!"

Steven and JulieUncle Randy seems conflicted...but eventually relents. "Alright Julie, just...be careful!," he said, taking the keyring off his belt and tossing it to the pair of trainers. DC:7 Athletics or Acrobatics to catch the keys, highest roll catches it. Don't drop 'em... Matt and ValerieThe Durant snap and snarl at Matt's attempt at command. Some of them seem to recoil back, inclined to listen, but there are just too many, too agitated to try and order around. You can see them carrying the tools, piling them up next to the old terminal building. With the tools in hand, they withdraw a little, though they keep a wary, angry eye on the two of you and your pokemon.

Julie's hand darts out and snatches the keys out of the air, then looks up to Randy with a smile. "Don't worry, we'll figure this out and get you out in no time!" With that, she begins carefully making her retreat from the building.

Steven gives a brief wave as he follows along Julie, gesturing for Sirius and Leila to follow him as he does so.

Steven & Julie
Keys in hand, you make your way back to the rest of the group without much difficulty. The Durant in the hangar seem far more interested in keeping Randy penned in than pursuing you, and you're able to make it back to the others...who you see are dealing with their own bug problem.
Everyone
Julie and Steven approach, their pokemon in tow, and keys in hand. Matt and Valerie are both edging away from another large cluster of Durant, who seem to have piled up all of Uncle Randy's tools...but the way into the control tower is open. Well, except for the door being chained shut.

Matt smiled a bit when he saw the others "Err, hey. How did the other building go? We pissed off some Durant. Turns out they didn't like me telling them what to do..." He laughs a bit nervously as he looked across the swarm again

"Uncle Randy is sort of... trapped right now. Surrounded by more Durant, hiding on a catwalk. He mentioned something being wrong with the antenna tower possibly agitating them, and I got the keys for the building, so let's go!" Julie holds up the keys and jingles them for a moment before running off towards the tower building.

The four of you approach the tower, the Durant swarm giving you a threatening glare the whole time. After a little trial and error, Julie is able to find the correct key on the key ring and open the door. Inside, the tower is quite run down. It is dark and dank, and you can hear the drip of water, though it hasn't rained on the island in days. The stairs seem to be mostly intact...and you can hear an electric buzzing noise coming from above, along with the occasional screech. Considering the power was cut by the Durant, the buzzing sound doesn't make much sense... Perception rolls as you go up the stairs for anyone venturing up. Also...roll me a d10. For reasons.
