Nette is usually not paying much attention to the little things and now is no different, failing to note both the marks on the trees or Helios sleight-of-tag. She does notice the rushing water and joins Bee in staring longingly at the resource node. With a small frown she tries to think of something smart to solve the situation.
"We still need to map that side right?. Otherwise we can't map the whole place ..."
Nette's frown deepens as she wanders back and forth next to the water. Hmm hmm hmm. Think of something smart! she thinks to herself, barely noticing Olivers words. It takes a moment for her to actually process what he was saying.
"Axe the trees?" Nette burst out and spun around, hampered a bit by her roots. "Genius!" she continued and headed towards the treeline, looking for some small trees. Huh. They got pictures. Sorta like those hmm 'tattoos'? Then she picked up her Mawile and directed her towards the trunk of one of the smaller trees. "Can you bite off this?"

Unfortunately the nearby trees all show their age in their durability and thickness so the tiny Mawile turns back to you and gives you a look much a kin to raising an eyebrow before shaking her head. A small noise comes from everyone's rings as you hear the familiar voice of your guild leader. "Oh hello everyone. I was finally able to reach team 1, they worried me for a moment but seem to be doing fine. As I told them, your first mission is more a test of your ability to map than to fully explore. So while you should do your best to explore as much as possible, sometimes the terrain or even FOEs might prevent exploration of certain areas. If you can't get around them, don't worry and just map out as much as you can. Your success won't be in jeopardy if you had to leave certain areas unchecked. See you soon!"

"Ah phooey." Olivier says. "Well, at least we tried to find a good tree! Maybe next time we can get a good bit of rope and create a little makeshift bridge that way!"
Then, doing a bit of a spin, he looks down the line at the rest of the forest. "I don't know if we're quite done yet! Why don't we keep looking for a bit longer! There has to be at least one Search Point that hasn't been maliciously plucked by the strings of fate!"

"Well, that sounds like a pretty clear sign to me." Bee still shoots a slightly resentful look at the take spot across the water before turning back toward the passage. "At least we don't have to get around that FOE back there! Let's see what's off to the south!"
She glances at Olivier when he makes a similar suggestion. "What he said. There was a fork down there, too, right? Which way should we go first?"

"Aww..." Nette sighs when her poor Mawile can't find any trees small enough to even wrap her jaws around properly. The small pokemon seems a bit dejected by the fact so Nette quickly snatch her up for a encouraging hug.
With a small frown Nette adds her input to the fork-in-the-road dilemma and looks to Helios. "Mmm I don't think I should pick the way ..."

"I've also been a bit pushy methinks! Perhaps another person should pick besides me as well!" Olivier says, nodding ecstatically. His eyes move over to Helios, at whom his eyebrows begin to waggle triumphantly.

Helios looks over his options: there is a path to the north, and a path to the south. Neither of them really look any better than the others (and he'd need to go down both eventually anyway), so he falls back on the time-tested choice of adventurers everywhere: pick one at random and never look back!
"Let's go this way," he says, pointing at the southern-most path on the map. "I'm still not going first, though. Lead the way, tree girl."

"Yes! Let us rally behind our lovely forest sprite!" Olivier says, clapping his hands together with happy ecstasy. This plan suited him perfectly!

Nette and her mawile bravely leads onward, only a tiny bit more wary for Phantump-ambushes or snoozing FOEs. This is going well. Yey! she thought to herself, the lack of mawilable trees already forgotten.

Bee huffs quietly as the other two seem to have decided to defer to Helios, who she's taken a bit of a dislike to, even if she has to admit his shiny lights trick came in handy with the Phantump. His attitude just doesn't sit well with her.
Still, she falls in behind them, taking up the rear with Lance snuffling along beside her. Between her mapping and her bow, she's pretty okay for a rearguard, especially with Lance there to take hits if they need to. "Next time I'm just gonna flip an Ental," she mutters quietly.

The path before you goes forward before turning to the right and coming to a dead end. The other path however extends far forward before coming to a room with a single patrat drinking some water out of a very small pond in the corner.

"Ooh! Oooh!~" The elf-man emits with a tremble. "Eichornchen! It's a ground squirrel!"
The lunari man child puffs himself up proudly and thumbs his chest. "Leave this to me my beautiful associates! I'm going to catch it!"
Then, before anyone can react, Olivier dances into the clearing. He twirls his staff around majestically and points it toward the sky as he kicks up off the ground and leaps like a nimble ballerina. He crooned broadly, waving his arms like a majestic duck. "Yooo hooooo! Hello little squirrel thing! It is I, the one called Olivier! Gaze upon this form of beauty!~"
Saying thus, he swan jumps and twirls, laughing with the noise of a clear bell. Nee holds on for dear life. He subtly reaches up and removes her from his head, a silver light enveloping his companion. Olivier smiles broadly at her, teeth glowing white light marble. "Aha! Little one! Do not be afraid of me! For in battle and in life, you shall become my bosom companion like little Nee here! A partner! A friend!"
With a little toss, Nee flew into the air skyward, waving her arms frantically. Thankfully(?) Olivier caught her with his staff so that she now stood on the end and much farther off the ground than she would actually like. As always, Olivier was oblivious to her fears.
He had only eyes for the Patrat now.
"But! I am afraid that we must acquiesce to tradition first! The law of nature dictates that I must first prove myself to you in the language of the most base! Therefore, little one, Adventurer Olivier the Magnificient Challenges you!"
With a quick motion, Olivier flicked his staff; catapulting Nee into the fray!

Enraptured by the strange dance Nette gazes upon Oliver with wonder. This was one city-folk tradition she had never seen before! How very odd! But very energetic! Poor Nee didn't seem to enjoy it too much though, so Nette decided to move in her direction to protect the cottonee from any more harm. (aka- preparing to intercept attacks against Nee) edit: Seeing as Nee is protected, Nette will probably only intercept status attacks or more of Olivers shenanigans

The dead end kind of vindicates Bee's opinion that they shouldn't let Helios choose the directions. But she finds herself wondering if the other passage is ever going to end - she thinks they've gone much farther east than they were even when they started by now. Bee... just kind of stares for a moment. I don't think he knows she doesn't like it... But it looks like Nette's keeping an eye on her. So Bee steps toward the edge of the room, keeping a wary eye out - especially since this is a Patrat, she's expecting them to get swarmed again. Small rodents seem like they'd be more likely to do that than Phantump. She casts about for any sign that there are more Pokémon ready to ambush them. Perception to spot an ambush coming: 20!

Seeing that combat is about to go down, Helios moves to block the room's entrance so the Patrat can't escape, ordering Solaire to do the same.

The patrat is too busy drinking water to notice the approaching adventurers and turns around only to get a face full of fluff. The patrat is currently blinded but grapples Nee. Patrat rolls a 3 in the opposed grapple check. Roll the higher of your mon's combat or athletics. Combat will begin afterwards.

Nee bats the little Patrat's paws sideways as she positively bristles with angry cotton balls. No touchies! The battle is joined! -- Nee rolled a 9 on Athletics. No grapples today!

Bee draws her bow tight, aiming carefully. Firing into the melee is tricky, but Bee's sharp eyes help her find a good shot where her bolt of ice can hit home without harming Nee. "Come on, this way... got it!" She fires the shard of ice right at the Patrat. Bee uses Ice Shard! Accuracy Roll: 15 vs AC 2; 16 Physical Ice damage

"Ha!" shouts Helios, "I've been waiting all day for this! Behold, my lances of light!"As he gestures, beams of light spear down from some distance above the patrat, blanketing the area so it could not avoid them, while also avoiding striking Nee. After the beams hit, a shimmering, translucent barrier about the size of a buckler forms between Helios and his target, hanging in the air to intercept attacks. Used Swift, augmented with Directed Barrier (No AP due to Signature Manipulation)
28 Normal Special damage Helios gains 6 DR vs Patrat for one turn
