"Well... just know if there's anything you feel you can't talk to me about, okay?" Rebecca says. "And, yeah, there are some decent local bakeries in Rustboro. Haven't been there for ages, but we can see which ones are still there..."
Shane seems a little awkward, just staring into the pools of water, presumably trying to give the others their space.

"Come on Shane! We are going to go get therapy cookies where it is dry and warm! And then go home and do a dinner. Maybe they will have my deployment for me when I get in too, that would be nice!"

"Ah, yeah, sure," they say, hopping up. They seem very eager to get back into the warmer climate of outside the Falls, even if it's late.
The group makes their way back to the city, the sun just barely beginning to crawl down low enough to slightly tinge orange. Shane heads back to the portals ASAP, while Rebecca and Parish wander, eventually finding a local bakery still open. With some cookies (and other assorted baked goods) in hand, they head back to the campus.
There, Parish does find on his terminal that his assignment's indeed ready to go. It seems like it's not a particularly warm place. There's ice and snow, to a degree not seen so far in either of the realms he's found himself living in. The sky is a familiar blue, though, it seems, and a sun shines that's only a little larger and duller.

"Guess it's paws and heat radiation tomorrow.". Parish comments looking over the assignment. There hadn't been much cause to go snowshoe before, but keeping above the snow and ice would keep his energy up, instead of slogging through it as if it were sand. Having committed what he could to memory, and musing on the class of world that it was, he went looking for Faith. She should have been back by now.

Parish looks all through the compound, but he finds no sign of Faith. If she's here, she's secluded somewhere like her room. Nobody that he asks seems to have seen her since this morning, at least.

Tapping the side of his head thoughtfully, Parish released the Cybercell Combee and presented it with the sweets he had purchased for Faith, passing a mental image of the girl to his Pokemon along with instructions to wait near her room, and to present the goods to her should she arrive later. It could rest or lounge if need be, but otherwise should remain in sight of her door.
With that arranged, he gently rubbed the side of one of its panels, and headed off to sleep. It was an adventure tomorrow. Well fed, and well rested were the best beginnings.

The bug seems eager to have a task to do again, and dutifully zips off once the package had been secured to hooks in its underside. It almost seems to hum as it flits away.
The morning comes sooner than he might like, with the Combee hovering right at face level outside Parish's door, faces bright and cheery, and empty-handed. There's a feeling of satisfaction of a job well done.

"Hey! You did a great job!" Parish cheered it on as he sidled out of his room in his uniform, survival pack tucked under one arm. "Hopefully you're not too tired from being up so long. Do... do you get tired? Either way, I'm glad you enjoyed the task, I'll make sure to send you to deliver things more often." Parish was almost uncomfortably warm, and a little tired. Thermal adaptations were taxing by most standards, and the wide, flat insulated feet took some getting used to, but none of it really merited complaint.
"Come on, let's head to breakfast, and go play in the snow."

There's a happy humming of a different turn as the bee bobs along next to him. This early, there's not a huge amount of people in the mess hall, but there is food, like there always is.
Neither Faith nor anyone else he recognizes is there, so he goes to the indicated room to where the portal is. Almost immediately entering the room, the temperature is much, much more comfortable for him.
"All set to go, Parish?" the voice of Rebecca asks, over comms. "Nervous or anything?"

"None of my Pokemon are very well adapted to the cold, so traveling with them won't be ideal. I'm not really used to being the only body in a given space. Alright you, time to take a break. Going to be Oops and I, and he'll probably stay mostly to my immediate vicinity." The Combee disappeared to be replaced by the small, angry looking bottle-ghost. "Hey Oops! We're going somewhere cold today, so you'll want to stay close unless things get hairy, okay?"
"Do I have a particular assignment, or am I just seeing what I can see, Rebecca?"

"You're flying solo now, Parish," Rebecca says, laughing. "You're free to do as you want. Command might say something if they see something interesting, and pass that along, or if their readings show something important... but, all in all, you're on your own. It's your choices that matter."
"But don't feel you have to be pressed to 'do' something. You can take things at your own pace. Things can often be uneventful."

"That's such a strange concept when it's introduced. Is this what adulthood feels like?" He pads through the portal mid-conversation as though it were the most completely normal thing ever and surveys the immediate landscape. "Your elders and peers preparing you to be on your own and then it's into the wilderness to make your own path through the snow."

"Hahaha, yep!" Rebecca says, a smile in her voice. "That's a good way to look at it, really. You're an adult in the world of Explorators now."
The surrounding area just seems to be a sea of white. Thankfully, he at least has his portal sense, because it would basically be impossible to find in this featureless scape. Beyond the immediate area, though, there seem to be a few options. What seems to be a forest off to one side. And hills and mountains off to another. Yet another way, the flatness just seems to continue onwards.

"Falling Star missed the woods from back home, but it was really hot there and he is ornery. Maybe he will like the woods in a colder climate?". Parish headed for the forest, and released the boat nearer the trees. "What do you think, Star? Better then the flower field back home? There's big sturdy trees."

The trees aren't even really looked at, as the boar jumps several feet up upon touching the snow, and seems very, very confused at this thing. AAAAAAAAA it's cold. AAAAAAAAA it's up to its snout. AAAAAAAA what is it?????
In the end, trying to ram it away being fairly unsuccessful, the boar just holds stock still.

"It's okay, it flattens really easy and it won't hurt you, look like this.". Parish flopped into the powder and rolled back and forth in the snow until there was a patch of solid, albeit with a lot of melting. "It's like if the ocean around your island were solid!". Parish thumped his spot a few times for emphasis, down on all fours.

There's a lot of snuffling at the snow, and gently prodding and experimenting with the various different consistencies, and feeling how cold it is, and just... staring. Before eventually Fallen Star follows Parish's lead, and belly flops down in the snow before rolling around.
He comes up covered in powder, but does a proud snort, like he showed that snow who's boss. Honest.

"That's it, if the snow gives you any trouble just flatten it.". Parish laughed cheerfully. "Look, there's trees here too! I remember how much you liked those!". Parish thumped on one of the rimed trunks, getting a light dusting of powder snow for his trouble.
"There's hills and big open fields too.. and I bet there is neat stuff past those fields, but we have all the time we need to just be here and have a good time."

The enthusiasm seems to bleed over into Star, and it attempts to ram one of the trees... but these ones are definitely more sturdy than the island ones, and hold firm. Well, hmph. He didn't want to knock over the stupid trees anyways...
The trees themselves are close to the plants from home, but seem a little bit weird, with bark patterns and branches and stuff seeming more... geometric, and less random and natural. Or maybe that's just what natural is.

Parish spends a bit of time tracing the markings on the bark, feeling it, as though aiming for some kind of deeper pattern recognition. "Birds and nesting mammals usually prefer softwood, we probably won't find any nests in the trunks themselves but maybe under the roots? ... What does the ground look like here?"
Down, down through the powder he dug in search of land, disappearing into the snow.
