"There's one thing that all Bagon, as a species, share," Rebecca explains. "The dream of flying. And so...well, they do that." She gestures to the cliff. "It's the closest thing, and I imagine that they hold out hope that one day they'll just... hang there. Miss the ground. That sort of thing."
"Their life is a tough one. Because once they've finally gotten strong and determined enough... they evolve into Shelgon, which I imagine must be torture for them. Even less able to run and jump, covered in a thick shell. But once their anger at the confinement builds? They erupt into a Salamance, one of the fiercest predators around, and master of the skies."

"That sounds like quite a journey.". Parish approved wistfully. "Going out for something you really, really want. No matter how it looks to other people. How long it takes. How awkward it becomes. That's really inspiring, even if it is a little hard to watch."
He made towards the heights, gauging the height of the fall. Dragons Drop, that was a good name for this spot.

"Just be careful," Rebecca cautions, laughing. "People don't tend to have quite as hard heads as they do. So... sometimes you also have to know when to quit."
The drop looks to be about thirty or forty meters, and now that Parish knows what to look for, he can see the dragon futilely flapping its arms as it jumps once more.

"If I had some canvas, a bit of wood, and some leather strapping, I could build them a little glider.". Parish mused as the little Pokemon went sailing over the cliff once more. "That could be a really fun day project between missions. It's trying so hard, I hate to see it come up empty handed... Unless you want to take it riding?". He posed to Rebecca.

"Would it really be worth it, though?" Faith asks. "You'd be giving it its dream, of a sort... only to have it fall away as soon as it no longer had that glider. If it broke, or got lost, or anything else."
"Is that truly helping? Or is it giving it hope, only to cruelly yank it away, leaving it with but a taste of what it could never have? For it to truly fly, it has to do it on its own."

"That's not really any different with how people look at A-2 or A-7. I can't give it the strength it needs to reach a third evolution. If it takes a bad fall and doesn't make it, it might not ever realize that dream either. It already knows it is something it really wants, and is willing to risk its life in pursuit of that. Why make that a requirement?". He tucked his hands into his pockets and moved to one side of the trail for when it inevitably trudged by again.
"Having a glimpse of what can be drives people to push themselves even harder to achieve it.". A pause. "Or dependency and entitlement. Hmm."

"There's not necessarily an obvious right answer." Faith says, shrugging. "It's just not always so clear cut as good intentions might make you think. Sometimes you might not know until it's too late. And sometimes you'll never know the consequences."
"Besides," she adds. "It's a Dragon. It's likely too proud to accept any help."
"A regular fountain of joy over here..." Shane mutters.

"Faith would know more about helping too much or too little then me. It was just an idea anyway. Any help I give it is more likely to hurt it anyway, because it is changing the conditions its instincts work under. It knows how to land, and adding any weight in the wrong place shifts its balance, which for something that wants to land on its head, would be bad. That sounds really weird to say. Anyway, I want to go for a dip today, not jump off of a cliff!"

"It's just that sometimes, you need to wonder if you're actually doing the right thing..."
"Getting a little bit heavy here, I think," Rebecca interjects, laughing. "Let's just... keep climbing."
The four climb up, past the spray of a waterfall, before finally reaching a solid plateau. There's a pond there, clear but descending into dark depths, that trickles off into a small waterfall. The larger waterfall has a much larger pool of water further beyond.

"What do you think Hero, ready for a swim?". The fish burbled excitedly as he gave it a toss into the smaller pond and kicked off his shoes. "The water is bound to be colder, and less oxygenated. I might want to take it slow.". He declared before jumping in, mindful of his friends.
"OHhhh!". The boy surfaced sputtering for a moment. "SUN WARMED JUST MEANS LESS COLD!!! EEEESH!". Treading water briefly, he dove with his glowfish.

"...ah, yeah," Rebecca says, laughing. "Most mountain water is fed off snow. Even if the white rockmakes it hard to tell here. One of the few places in the region that regularly gets it. Probably should have warned you a bit more, since... well, you aren't quite as world-wise."
"...you okay in there, Parish?" Shane calls, looking in after the boy and 'mon. Granted, given that they're underwater, they can't exactly hear the question, but...
As Parish dives down, Hero alongside him, the darkness parts before the light. It... really doesn't seem all that different than above. Same rocks, same patterns, everything. ...and then he looks down and sees a bit of a glint in the darkness. And a pair of eyes staring at him, red irises intently drilling into his own.

Parish offers it a wave from in the light but stops his descent, remembering the eel-thing from the ocean. He wasn't nearly in that deep, he could still see some light though it was far away. He gestures for Hero to get a little closer. The cold has really moved under his skin, a lot of vascular heat lost through those gills.

There's a squinting, and then a sudden rush of pressure as whatever it is zooms straight towards him and Hero. Parish finds himself thrust upwards at a tremendous rate, before breaching the surface atop the head of a pale serpent with long red ears(?), and a red-and-blue scaled tail. It lets out a melodic trill.
And poor Shane appears to have been sprayed with an absolute torrent of water, given how soaked they are. So much for not going swimming.

Water blows out of his nose, mouth, and gills as he expels the contents of his mouth and lungs, an excited, concerned noise following when he finally breaks water. "Hahaha! You had me worried! Such an intense expression!". He gently patted the creature's neck, noting that it was also not the kind of snake that went blblbl. Someday. Someday.
"Sorry Shane! Sorry! I still wasn't sure what it was and it made the first move! Still don't really know what it is! But I found it!"

"It's fine..." Shane says, despondent. "I should have expected it with my luck..."
"You really do have the worst luck, it seems."
"It's a Milotic," Rebecca says, laughing. "Very gentle, so you don't need to worry. I'm surprised to see one lurking about up here. They're usually more eastern-Hoenn, near Fortree and Mauville. Granted, Feebas do have a habit of turning up in unexpected places sometimes..."

"I'll admit I wasn't expecting a ride when I went down there.". Parish declared rosy cheeked. "Did you guys know how fast you lose body heat when your vascular system is partially exposed?"
Gently rubbing the back of the Pokemon's head, he got as comfortable as he could and focused on her. Excitement, and a pleasant rush of good feelings coming with the handshake, a greeting of fine tidings and high spirits.

"Look, I told you you probably didn't want to go swimming..." Rebecca says, laughing. "But, I dunno. Some people seem to be part Beartic about that stuff."
The Milotic seems very calm and passive. He's mostly curious about the people, and interested in their reactions. There's definitely some mischief in there, though, and he seems very pleased with spraying Shane.

"The wet one is Shane, they've had kind of a rough time lately, probably don't eat enough but likes Faith's cookies. Rebecca is the one enjoying herself the most, and Faith is the quiet one.". He goes about his introductions, pointing out each human. "I'm Parish, and the little fishblob next to you his Hero!"
"Ouuuuuuu!". Hero waved with a stubby fin.

There's a gentle "mrrrrrr…" from the Milotic, before he bows his head down to the water's surface to let the pair currently on top step down onto the ground. The serpent just takes in the scene before it, before seemingly getting distracted by something behind them.
It seems like the Bagon has reached its cliff again, and is making another leap.
"Hey! I eat plenty, thank you very much!" Shane complains. "...some say too much." The Milotic raises its tail out of the water and seems to be comparing the tail size to the human out of curiosity.

"Hey Bagon, wait!". Parish calls to the little dragon. "You want to make a friend and maybe stay in the air a little longer?" He starts to approach it as it readies for its jump. *Play?* He asks the Milotic, sharing with it how badly the Bagon wishes to fly, and it's repeat jumps.
