There's a confused noise from Blue, and it basically hooks its body to the side so that its face is upside down, staring at Parish. Noodle?

The Dratini's eyes seem to widen in understanding - head still upside down - as it dutifully takes in the explanation. It thinks for a moment, before nodding, and turning right-way-up again.
The earfins aren't really that soft, but they're more silky compared to the rubbery sleekness of the rest of the body. It's a little hard to pet, though, as it seems to keep moving around, curious.

Being in contact with the Pokemon is very soothing. The boy had never considered how much he relied on touch, nor how much comfort he took from it. Settling in the shallows, he mentally lost himself in petting the Pokemon, working his warm palms along its cheeks and down that sleek body. "Rebecca, what is this one?"

"It's a Dratini," she explains. "They're not very powerful dragon-types, and they're very rare and shy. It's very surprising to see one. Most people, certainly, only see pictures or Dratini-skin clothes. They shed their whole skin a lot because of the energy just constantly building up inside them. Energy that'll eventually end up helping them evolve."

I've heard Dragon Pokemon are really hard to raise, but Dratini is easily one of the nicest things I have met today.". Parish worked his thumb along the noodle's belly. There's a shiver from the Dratini that he takes to be a sort of shoulder-less shrug. It doesn't seem unhappy. In fact, it seems to get to pick and choose who it interacts with up here!
"Yeah, Dragon-types can be a bit hard to raise. Though many buck that stereotype. They're just not the ones that books and stuff tend to focus on, is all," Rebecca says, laughing. "Nobody wants to read about the ferocious goo blob. Ah... poor Goomy..."

Giving the dratini another stroke or two, the boy looks around, trying to locate Hero and Flying colors again. It was getting late in the day, and he was getting cold.

Colours remains staring inscrutably, but hasn't made any unhappy comments. While Hero gives some jubilant noises... though it's clear that, even if he won't admit it, he's probably a bit enthusiasm'd out. Stimulus overload.
The big-eyed noodle seems to enjoy the attention, at least.
"It's because the big, scary, authoritative, ones are very... in your face, and unforgettable," Rebecca explains. "So the quieter ones sort of slip under notice, and aren't remembered as much. They're not what people think of when they think of Dragon."

"Alright Hero, you can have a rest, we have places to go and things to see tomorrow.". Parish recalled the lampfish. "Flying Colors, if you are ready to hide, we can tuck you away too.". The boy slowly hauled himself up out of the water, and knelt to address the Dratini. "You are welcome to come away with me, but I don't know when I will return to the mountains. We'll always be friends now, even if you decide to stay here though."

Colours drapes itself over the boy's shoulders before going to get recalled. The Dratini mostly swims around the pond, circling, before going belly up for scritches.
"You sure jump to friends quickly, Parish," Rebecca says, with a good-natured laugh and a smile. "Doesn't it ever disappoint you if you don't see them again?"

"No. I don't know that I'll never see them again. Sure, the world is a huge place, and there are a lot of Pokemon in it, but I like to keep the good memories in my heart. Learn from the bad ones, keep healthy and strong from the good. We had a nice day together, and that is what matters the most."
Giving the Dratini's belly a rub, he got up the rest of the way. "Your lake is very nice. I hope your shedding is comfortable and productive, and that you become good friends with your noodle neighbors. Maybe I'll come back by someday and check on everyone."
