The Geodude falls to Jean-Marie's attack before Souris can even react, and the path is silent for a short beat... before a pale yellow and blue, rounded serpent like creature burst out of the rubble, making enraged hissing noises as it goes straight for Jean-Marie, driving its drill shaped tail into her. The Geodude is knocked out! Dunsparce emerges from the rubble and moves to Jean-Marie. Dunsparce uses Rage! AC2: OhKLSEuJ1d20, DB4: Physical Normal Type Damage. Dunsparce is Enraged Rage Save DC15: 1d20

Benji sighs in relief as soon as the second pokémon falls to the joint efforts of the party, but his calm quickly shatters as the dunsparce appears and quickly strikes Jean-Marie. Almost reflexively, he grabs the black bead representing the girl and traces a protective barrier around her. Actions Benji uses the Sage feature on Jean-Marie, granting her 8 damage reduction for 1 turn.

Rowan: Standard: Rollout on Dunsparce AC3: IRMaPWRo1d20+1 2d6+20 Physical Rock damage Rowan grunts in annoyance as the Dwebble is taken down, as he was looking forward to doing it himself. He'd always had a fondness for taking down those with a type advantage, even if he'd had few opportunities to thanks to Robin's preference for escaping trouble. Still, he smiles as he sees another foe come out and darts around Maha to ram into the Dunsparce, continuing to build up speed. 1d20+1·2d6+20

Grunting in pain as the drill digs into her side, Jean-Marie attempts to retaliate in kind with another blow with her offhand, but her strike goes wide. Surging with aggression, she smashes into the Dunsparce again with her shadowed fist, sending shadowy pebbles flying from the point of impact before they fade into the ground. Then, assessing the positioning of her allies, she jumps over to behind the snake to provide further flanking.
Actions:
Jean-Marie is attacking with Pack Hunt targeting the Dunsparce triggered by Rowan's Rollout.
Pack Hunt Attack: YTpH_Unq1d20 vs. AC 5 (-2 Evasion from flanking) Damage: 1 tick of damage.
Jean-Marie is attacking with Feint Attack targeting the Dunsparce.
Feint Attack Attack: 1d20 vs. AC - (roll for crit chance) Damage: 2d6+20 Dark, Physical damage.
Jean-Marie moves from I3 to K3.

Maha smirks as the bug falls, showing his muscles to Rowan tauntingly. His smirks quickly fades though, as he notices the grass pokémon was quicker reacting to the new foe, and he follows with a grunt, running around to prevent it from fleeing before slapping it with a quick strike. Actions Maha moves around to K3 and uses Karate Chop on the dunsparce. Accuracy Check: p_uuc6V61d20 vs. AC 2 Damage Roll: 2d6+23 Fighting, Physical damage. 1d20·2d6+23

The Dunsparce cries out at Maha's strike, and slams into the ground, knocked out. You wait for a few moments, almost expecting something else to pop up, but nothing does, and the path remains quiet. Dunsparce is knocked out Everyone gets 10 exp. This experience can be split among all your Pokémon, but at least half needs to go to the Pokémon that participated.

Benji holds his breath for a second, waiting to see if anything else would come out... And then releases it in a long sigh. "Well, that's it, I think," he says, looking around. "Good job, everyone!"He approaches his machop with a smile, patting his head. "Well done, Maha! You are really strong, aren't you?" he says, pinching the pokémon's muscles. "I think Yash was lucky you held out on him. Uhh, don't tell him I said that," he says with a coy smile. "I think we can move those rocks now."As his machop resumes the work of moving the stones out of the path, he checks on the unconscious pokémon. "You poor things, I know you were just trying to take care of your home... But don't worry, we'll just organize things here and leave you, guys, in peace." He then carefully tries moving the fainted pokémon to the sides of the road, next to the rocks there so they can be safe even after they're gone. All 10 XP went to Maha.

Rowan narrows his eyes a little at Maha but remains quiet - while he's not quite the expert on dealing with others socially that Robin is, he knows better than to make an enemy when he doesn't need to. Still, he considers the Machop for a while, thinking that it may still be worth indulging in a little friendly rivalry.
Meanwhile, his trainer spends a moment regarding Benji, noting his compassion for their opponents. Had it just been her, she'd have... well, she probably would have run rather than face two or three opponents at once, but if she did win, she'd have just moved on to avoid running into any problems. Still, she didn't begrudge Benji, she just notes his disposition for the future.
In the meantime, she joins him, moving the Dunsparce while leaving the heavier Pokemon to him. "Might be worth covering them up a bit so no passing 'mon sees an easy target," she suggests before giggling. "Never thought I'd suggest burying someone alive to help 'em out, but hey, being a trainer's all about new experiences, huh?"

Jean-Marie sighs in relief, her shadows falling away and slinking back to their rightful owners.
"Well, that was a fun distraction." She and Souris help move and cover the fallen wild Pokemon before returning to clearing the path.

Benji finishes hiding the fainted pokémon aside, before remembering about the pokédex and its function and quickly scanning out the pokémon. "Dunsparce and dwebble. Huh, the yellow digging snake is a normal-type. Weird," he says to no one in particular. He then pats Maha's head for the good job, before recalling him into his pokéball and releasing Yash back onto his regular position around Benji's neck.
"Guess that's it then. We probably should have capture one of these, right?" he asks the others as he starts moving ahead. "As I understand it, we can have up to 6 pokémon with us, so we probably should do that for the versatility. Or do we only capture those that we really want? 'Cause I'll be honest, I'm not sure I know which ones I want yet..." he says, before yelping as Yash nibbles his ear. "Ouch! Other than Yash, of course."

Robin chuckles. "Well, way I see it, you shouldn't feel like you need to. You see one you want, you catch it. If you don't, you leave it. Not like we'll be short on 'mon to meet." He shrugs as he lowers down, Rowan leaping into his hands before he puts him over his shoulder once more. "'Course, I'm looking to be a bit more discerning, type-wise - part of having a Gym, after all, but I kinda doubt I'll be short on plants to find, know what I mean?"

After putting aside the beaten Pokémon, your group once more sets to clear the road, but you soon realise that at the pace you're working at, it would take up most of the day, and well... you didn't go out on a journey to do construction work, right?
As such, you decide to call it quits after thirty minutes of depressingly little progress, and you instead carefully maneuver your way across the loose rubble, crossing it without too much trouble (or angered Pokémon).
This little road bump dealt with, you continue your journey, and a few hours pass uneventfully as you hike through the mountains, until Benji, quickly followed by Jean-Marie, start hearing loud clanging noises, of metal impacting metal with some force.

"...besides, it's not like we're the only ones who'd want the path clear," Robin says, attempting to cheer the others up after they decided to leave the road partially blocked. "Heck, if we were, it wouldn't be a problem anyway. Someone'll be along and take care of it - someone way better equipped than..." he trails off as he noticed the others' faces register the noise. "What's up?"

"Yeah, no kidding. Those rocks were way heavier than I thought," he agrees with Robin, still a little bummed. "Let's hope it gets cleared soon." He suddenly stops, hearing the weird clangor.
"Oh, it's... Metal, I think?" he answers Robin's question, turning around to find the direction of the sound. "Metal striking metal, don't you hear it? From... that way," he says pointing towards where he thinks it comes from. Yash also perks up from his spot on Benji's hoodie, propping up on his trainer's head to hear it as well, just as Benji starts slowly moving in that direction.

Jean-Marie instinctively adopts a crouching position when she hears the sound.
"Yeah, I hear it too." She approaches the sound slowly, watching her step for loose sticks and gravel.

As Jean-Marie and Benij inch their way forward, the noise becomes louder, and more aggressive. Soon, as you move past a bend, Jean-Marie spots the source of the noise, and quickly halts Benji in his track and points it out to him.
Two black and white metallic behemoths, Lairon, are duking it out on a higher plateau to the right of you. They haven't noticed you yet, but the path leads right underneath the plateau. As the Lairon clash into each other, you can almost feel the rock tremble with the force of their attacks.

Benji adjusts his posture for stealth as Jean-Marie crouches, unsure why, but trusting the girl's decision for caution. As the group arrives at the scene, he is glad for the sneak approach, although he doesn't know if the beasts would have even noticed them, focused on the battle as they were. It takes Benji just a small glance at the fight to quickly form a decision on his head, turning to look at Jean-Marie.
"Nope, nuh-uh!" he whispers, frantically gesturing back the way they came from. As soon as they get some distance away, he continues. "That looks waaay too dangerous. We need to get Robin and decide on a plan," he explains, unconsciously hugging Yash tightly. "One that doesn't involve those... What even are they??"

Jean-Marie nods, affirming Benji's plan.
"Yeah, I do not like the look of those beasts. I do not know what they are, but I believe they are well above our ability to handle. Perhaps we should go off the path around them?"

Benji quickly scans the pokémon from the safest distance he can, before backtracking with Jean-Marie to meet Robin.
"So, bad news. There are two... lairons, " he says, checking the screen before showing it to Robin, "fighting ahead. They seem to be really strong and definitely made of metal, so we think it's best we avoid whatever it's happening there. They are in a highland and obviously distracting each other, so we think we might be able to sneak past them if we go around their area. Or we could camp here and hope they get tired soon, but other than the fact we don't know how long that would take," he says, before suddenly sounding a bit too frantic, "there's the fact these things exist around here and more might come so I would really like if we just get away as soon as possible," he concludes with an uncomfortable smile, hugging Yash.
