Decision made, the three of you set off. The weather has cleared up fully from the last couple of day, and the sun is slowly heating up the day. Jean-Marie leads your group to the mountain path leading out of town, and you set off for the day's hike.
The main path connecting Pyrite with the rest of the Wildgrowth Highlands is well maintained and marked clearly, making it easy to follow. It also makes it surprising that a couple of hours in, you find the path blocked by a pile of debris and gravel, part of the mountain wall seemingly being knocked loose in the storm. The pile is about three, four feet tall, and seems to have settled mostly over the last couple of days. You think. Probably.

Robin is smiling as he strolls along the path, Rowan again hanging over his shoulder like a strange handbag. Hard as it sometimes is for him, he doesn't try to force conversation - going too far with that runs the risk of souring his companions and he can't risk losing any more. Besides, he's sure they'll learn all eventually.
When they come to the piles of debris, however, he stops and raises an eyebrow. "Well, that ain't ominous or nothing." He chuckles and raises his voice a little, not so much it'd be noticeable but making sure anyone around could hear him. "Normally, I'd think a barrier like this'd be for an ambush, but I'da thought they could come up with something better than that."

Benji is more chirpy than usual as the trio travels through the path, as it's his first time crossing the mountains and the excitement is clear on his face. He makes small talk, using his pokédex to take photos and record parts of the trek, although his mood does get somber at times when he checks to see if he has any messages to Vess and learns there are none. Still, the walk is pleasant with his two companions, and Yash looks eager to explore as well, abandoning his usual spot on Benji's neck to run alongside the mountain walls sniffing at bushes and holes.
When the group arrives at the apparent blockage, he initially thinks nothing about it until Robin mentions a possible trap. "What?" he asks with a confused expression. "Who would want to ambush whom? Isn't this normal in mountains, like landslides and all that. I read about it somewhere..." he says, quickly going through the pamphlets in his bag before giving up with a sigh. "Well, nevermind. Oh, I think I know who can help us!" he says with a grin, grabbing a pokéball and releasing his machop.
"Hey, buddy! How are you feeling, rested enough?" he says, patting the pokémon's head. "So, we have a situation here that could use someone who's really strong. That clearly isn't me, right?" he smiles and points at the debris. "We need to clear that out. Wanna help with the heavier ones?"

Jean-Marie's brow furrows, pushing a fist against her chin in thought. "You may be right, it may be a trap. Perhaps we should be vigilant should an attack be launched at us. It would be courteous to the others traveling on the road, though, so we should clear it regardless." She reaches into her pack and pulls out a ball, releasing its captive. The brown shrew uncurls and looks up at Jean-Marie expectantly.
"Souris, would you please help our Machop friend clear this blockage?"
The little Pokemon flexes her claws and approaches the pile.

Robin chuckles at the altruism of his companions before lowering Rowan to the ground and releasing Aubrey.
"You two be okay to keep an eye out for anything weird while we work?" he asks, eliciting a firm nod - of his second, vestigial head, since his main one had his legs attached - from Rowan and an affirmative hum from Aubrey, the little bug relishing the sunlight she had so recently discovered.
That done, Robin rolls up his sleeves and sets to work helping - while he's always been a bit ashamed of how little his rough lifestyle has helped his physical prowess, he has enough strength to help a little. Besides, as the only one of his team with hands, he figures he'd better do something to help.

As Benji, Robin, Maha, and Souris get to work clearing a path (to varying degrees of success), Jean-Marie spots an irregular shaped rock poking out on the right side of the pile, a little ways in, and soon after, she spots another peculiar rock, on the other side of the pile. The first rock seems familiar somehow, and you quickly realise you saw something similar yesterday, in the mines. It seems there is a Geodude hidden in the stone rubble.

Cocking her head to the side, the young trainer points out the hidden Pokemon to her companions.
"It seems a few of these rocks may have some opinions about being moved." She approaches the Geodude slowly but harmlessly. "Hello little stone, would you mind moving you and your friend out of the way? This road is traveled often by humans and you are liable to being disturbed again."

There is a beat after Jean-Marie speaks, before the Geodude erupts from the pile in a shower of gravel, looking rather unhappy. It proceeds to express this displeasure by ramming bodily into Jean-Marie. Soon after, the other rock Jean-Marie had spotted starts moving, and a small crustacean becomes visible from inside of it, also looking less than pleased. We have entered combat. Jean-Marie steps out of the way in the nick of time as the boulder careens past her. "Someone is upset, I see. Souris, help me out here!" The Sandshrew stops digging and faces the angry rock, her claws lengthening into deadly blades.

Benji watches as the rock pokémon appears and Jean-Marie tries a diplomatic approach and is immediately attacked in return. "Oh, no, that was not nice!" he exclaims, immediately noticing the arthropod in front of his machop. "Guess they don't want to cooperate. Maha, let's leave the rocks for now and deal with these two, ok?"Benji quickly grabs the beads on his hair, guided by touch and memory to find his target. As he uses the connection of the small orange figure carved in the shape of a machop to generate a defensive charm around his own pokémon, Maha immediately steps forward and punches the dwebble with an overhand strike. Actions: Maha will use Karate Chop against the dwebble! Accuracy Check: 0rFe1Y9|1d20 vs. AC 2 Damage: 2d6+23 Fighting, Physical damage
Benji will use the Sage Feature, giving Maha 8 Damage Reduction. 1d20·2d6+23

Robin gives a melodramatic gasp. "Now that's just awful - she asked real nice and you still attacked her." She shoots the Geodude a hurt glance. "You're going to attack a lady like that? Well then..."All of a sudden, she dashed forward and flicks its rocky hide between the eyes before hopping back. "Let's see if that applies to me too!" She gives a grin, purposely leaving ambiguous whether she means him attacking her applying or her being a lady." 1d20·1d20

After Robin's feint, Jean-Marie curls her ball into a fist, pulling wisps of shadow from the rubble pile. A shadowy boulder coalesces around her fist and she smashes it into the jaw of the 'dude. As she does that, Souris takes a swipe of her own as the rock tries to deflect Jean-Marie's strike. Actions: Jean-Marie is attacking with Feint Attack targeting the Geodude. The Dwebble cries out as Rowan rams into it, chips of its shell breaking off. The Geodude, looking caught off guard by Robin's behaviour, continues to express its aggression towards Jean-Marie, as it tucks its arms in and rolls at her, using its momentum to land behind her... or at least, it tries to, as instead it goes wide and slams into the wall, chunks of rock flying loose. Geodude uses Rollout on Jean-Marie! AC3: d3zQ2mhb1d20, DB5: 1d8+19 Physical Rock Type Damage.

Robin: Swift: Activate Quick Wit to use Flirt Maneuever on Geodude AC6: QJexUtqN1d20 Standard: Taunt on Geodude AC3: 1d20 Shift: Move Charm roll: 3d6 End Result: Geodude is infatuated with Robin for 1 full round. Robin raises an eyebrow at the Geodude's focus on Jean-Marie and Souris, figuring it might be a good idea to try and draw some heat away from her. "Hey, no need to be like that, Geo M'dude!" He says as he scampers around the fray. "You seem like a sporting type - and real tough, to boot." He whirls around and kicks a loose pebble at it, trying to get its attention. "So, maybe you should pick on someone your own size, huh?"Unfortunately, a moment later, he realizes he missed the mark, both literally and figuratively - the pebble flies far over the Geodude's head and, in both literal size and power, Jean-Marie is far closer to the Geodude that he is. Still, she suppresses a wince at the failure, keeping her confident demeanor up. 1d20·1d20·3d6
