The girl has a look of disbelief. "You're trying to stop the spread of corruption... by spreading corruption. In what possible twisted logic does that even make even a modicum of sense? Seriously, do you hear yourself talk?" It seems like it's enough of a logic bomb for her that she's momentarily stopped attacking, though.

"Look, Rainbow came back to our time from that future I just described to you. She's looking for something called the 'Yellow Star'. We thought it might be with one of the meteorites." Beatrice nurses her wounded arm. "We need to see it to get a baseline... and maybe take a sample for testing. She might be able to tell you more."

The girl just stares in disbelief. "I'm sorry, what in the world would get you to come up with such a load of garbage. People don't come from the future. Especially not to take stuff like this to it. Why would you take corruption to a corrupted place, anyways? And I haven't seen any yellow in the meteor. It's all dark. Why exactly do you expect me to believe this drivel?"

"Rainbow didn't teleport or turn invisible, you'd have felt her move to break away from you. She arrived in much the same fashion when I first met her. I would not have come to an island that is a radioactive wasteland and teeming with berserk Pokemon besides if I did not have good reason and was passionate about it. That is why I'm here, believe it or don't. I don't care. You could have knocked me out in two strikes if you'd chose to, but here we are. Your move." She gestured with an open palm at nothing in particular. "I came here expecting to be strong enough. I was fine through the Sharpedo attack, you've been the first person or Pokemon I've seen since landing."

"There's a simple reason for that," the girl states, flatly. "This is my town. Anything that comes in here, or that crosses my path while I check up on the surrounding area, I kill it. They're better off that way. Poor things. But, if I leave them around, they get all uppity, because that's all they're capable of. And a few of them even hurt. If you go out beyond the limits, you'll run into one."
"But, fine," she wipes her blade off with a knife before sheathing it at her side. "give me proof of what you say, and I'll see about sparing you. Easy enough to finish what I've started."
The air is thick for the few minutes it takes for Rainbow to return, who appears back into existence still clutching her shoulder, before buckling to her knees on the ground. Looking up at the Dewford girl, she mutters something that sounds fairly impolite.
"So. Your friend says that you're from the future. That you have something 'vital' to do. Prove it."
Rainbow looks up at Bea, questioningly.

"I fought her to the best of my ability Rainbow, she'll kill me if you can't give her more than your word. I told her about the yellow star, and she has been adamant that the meteor here is only dark in composition." Bee's brow knit and she took a moment to slow her breathing. "Do you have the strength to take her forward a few hours? Say to sunset today?" The girl fished a patch from her bag, peeled the back away and gently applied it to the time traveller's wounds.
"She said the meteors were planned." The trainer added as an afterthought. "That Altered were created to take advantage of what they do. That a man did something so horrible to try and rule a region. I'd never heard any of this."

"No, probably not," Rainbow says, nervously. "People takes... a lot of strength. More than anything else. But... uh does anyone have something distinct? That they don't have an attachment to, but isn't easily duplicatable?"
The Dewford girl thinks, and then reaches over to pull a chunk of wood from the debris before deftly carving 'AW' into the painted surface with her blade. "There." As Rainbow reaches for it a second one of her appears, also with the item in question, and they both immediately begin wincing, obviously in pain. IT's noticeable that the paint on the newly arrived item begins to flake away, and the wood begins to turn to dust, until the original Rainbow vanishes, presumably into the past, and the one left just... slumps against the debris, breathing heavily, tears running down her face.
"That's... it all right," the girl says, quietly, eying the pair. "And whether it is actually time travel, or just an ability to create copies of yourself and anything else… well, killing you once isn't going to do any good." She sighs. "What is it -exactly - that you're wanting to do with this?"

"Rainbow has made it clear she isn't able to alter the future by changing the past, but she can try to repair the damage in her time with something from now. This is that yellow star I mentioned. I don't understand the intricacies of it, since meeting her I've done things and come places I wouldn't have without her intervention. I would like to believe I can impact change knowing what I do, but that gets into existential crises such as predestiny versus free will. Rainbow, will you know the Yellow Star when you see it?" She eases herself under the other girl, helping her to her feet."

Rainbow takes some deep breaths, clinging to Bea to stop from falling back down. "Maybe?" Rainbow says. "Probably not. I have no idea what it looks like. My only hope would be, like, if it feels like a breath of fresh air or something." She coughs. "While we're here, though... I'm reminded that even if we don't find the yellow star, we do still need some Aetherstone, if I'm going to bring things back to my time. I almost died coming here, the return trip'll be harder. Do you know of a way to purify what is here? Purge the corruption?"
"You think if we knew how to do that, that we'd have this problem?" the girl scoffs. "I know the League is trying to test things out, the idiots, but we wouldn't have this big chunk of corruption standing around if they'd succeeded." She shakes her head. "Nobody really knows what's going on with the stuff. The head scientist doing all the research on stuff like Hybrids and Shadowstone and whatever... she died in the Mossdeep Facility before their organization all crumbled apart. So, everything she knew died with her."
Rainbow thinks, before lighting up. "Wait... Mossdeep. Is this an underground facility?"
The Dewford girl blinks in surprise, before squinting and putting a hand on her sword again. "From what I've heard... never went there myself. How do you know about it?"
"Because if it's what I think it is, it still exists in the future! It's what we use as our Control Center, planning out stuff. Keeping records. Doing research. It's more advanced than anything else we have. A lot of Bondings are done there. And there's a machine there, that can purify Dark Aetherstone. Not a lot of it... but some. Enough to be able to launch back home." She gasps. "Bee! What if there's information on the yellow star, there? Something that might not have survived the ages, but was known in this time?"
The other girl sighs. "I can't tell whether you're genuine, or just incredibly good at lying. Because my every instinct right now is telling me that it's stupid to trust you. People have died over this stuff, and you want me to just let you take it. Can you give me a good reason? Not your whole 'future' garbage. A reason as a person."

"That facility will be just as off limits, if not more then Dewford, but you might be right. I've never been to Mossdeep, and this being someone's agenda is news to me." The teen considered the question the strange insectile girl posed and cocked her head to one side. Who was asking the question mattered just as much as the question itself.
"Rainbow, does lead or any other material contain the radiation so we aren't trailing contaminant? We aren't looking to make things worse, but I can't learn anything about the stone without having even the smallest piece on hand. Rainbow knows the risks better then I do, but I don't want her future to come to pass either. I have no idea what that means to her, or if multiverse theory comes into effect then.". Beatrice slid a patch onto her wound, which had mostly stanched itself by that point.
"We don't want the stone for personal gain, or power. We don't want to involve anyone else in our ongoings. I want answers, and to help Rainbow find the means to destroy the corruption. Now, or later."

"I don't know if anything contains it," Rainbow admits, "it's never been something we've had to actively worry about."
The Dewford girl sighs. "You need metal. Fairly thick, that stops the radiation. You find something like that in here, and you can take some. I'll grab it though, because you'll probably be torn apart if you try and approach. I know I'd have died several dozen times over the years. If I could die, that is. Well, not that I'm probably actually alive anymore. Often forget to breathe and stuff, after all."
"If you need to go somewhere restricted related to this... go to Verdanturf. Talk to the Gym Leader. Tell her that Alissa sent you. She's been a staunch supporter of people like me from the get-go. Uses Hybrids in her Gym - even did when they were nominally illegal. She has some clout in those matters. So, if you're on the level, then she can help. And she'll be able to tell if you are."
"But... yeah. First things first, you need to find something metal."

"Solenoid's not in the best way, but it should be able to help with that." Bee wrinkled her nose. "It'll be alright for a little while anyway." Torn apart was degrees of unpleasant that Rainbow hadn't gotten into, but she'd also said the stone was producing much stronger pollutant in this time, likely due to half life and decay. The initial would have been substantially stronger in that regard.
"Verdanturf's gym leader, alright." Beatrice released Solenoid close to her, affectionately tightening one of its' screws a little with her fingertips. "No fighting right now buddy, I just need you to find metal for us with your magnetic ability." As the Pokemon set about the task, she turned to Alissa. "So this guy, with his big scheme that brought this down on all of us, he's gone, right? He isn't still building an army or whatever?"

"Yeah, he's dead-dead," Alissa gives a mirthless chuckle. "That's what happens when you have to unleash your apocalypse-causing god-monster before you have total control over it, turns out. You get eaten. Too good for him."
Solenoid darts from rubble to rubble, looking for metal, which there seems to be a fair bit buried around judging from how much it's moving around, but it eventually settles on hovering over what appears to be a metal suitcase that's half-buried nearby. "Well then," Alissa says, as the group wanders over. "That's... convenient. I feel like it's shiny enough I'd remember seeing that before, but... maybe something shifted?" She looks to the others. "So, you said you were looking for yellow, right?"

"Right, but failing that we can purify the dark stuff at the facility in Mossdeep, if Rainbow is correct. We won't know till we get there." Solenoid was thanked quietly, and tucked away once more in his ball. "..." Bee wanted to ask what had happened to the apocalypse causing god monster, but for the first time in her life, she found...
She didn't want to know the answer. It was better to be able to sleep at night with that tiny kernel of ignorance.

"Alright, well," Alissa hefts the case, "I will be back. If it's not within a few hours, I'd suggest building a barricade for the night, because it means something's actually hurt me, so I'll be more-dead for a few hours. So something'll probably sneak into town. But, don't worry," she gives a cold smile. "No matter how vicious or how many things there are, doesn't seem I'll ever truly pass on."
"She's more right than she knows," Rainbow says, sadly, once the other figure is out of sight. "I... I recognize her. Took me a bit, especially with my shoulder, but she's the spitting image of the Silent Watcher. A girl who apparently never says anything or interacts with anyone, basically hides out at the top of a building. Has been around for as long as anyone can remember... I've only seen her a handful of times, but it's her. I'm sure of it."
She sighs. "I'm sorry, as well. You almost died here because of me. You're the only reason I'm alive at all, too..."

Bee watched Alissa go, and was thankful, but got caught up in thinking about time travel once more. "I knew there were risks coming here, and we looked out for each other and pulled through so far. That is what is important. It was scary, but we have leads and possibly a new ally."
Considering the rubble, and the uncertainty about a timely return of their new patron, the girl started the search for a defensible position. "Rainbow, where you can span, has everything you do before your own time already occurred, or does it only occur once you've done it, since it might not happen yet."
The concept that someone might live long enough to see the fall of society made her insides go cold. It wasn't any wonder Alissa stopped talking to people, she didn't comment on it, but her face said all it needs to. That was a sad thing.

"I... couldn't tell you exactly. Going to a time that I know about, my actions can be different than what actually happened. Though things'll even out. If I don't know what's happened before I span..." she shrugs, before wincing at her shoulder. "I couldn't tell you how I affect things. I might have no effect on local timelines, I might be integrated with them. I literally cannot tell you by definition of not knowing. Why do you ask?"

"Well, there are a number of universal theories of time travel. One is that time directly follows the time traveler. The real timeline is the one that occurs after all the changes you have enacted in it go through, from the one furthest back in the timeline, forward. We know this one to be false because of your explanation of time correction. It is also the most unfortunate one, because your future is uncertain. You can't move into a forward point in your personal timeline, because on that scale, it is the same point and speed you would have otherwise been moving."
Beatrice selected a pile of rubble that was more small pieces, and began scaling to the top, to hollow out a nest of sorts in a high point where they might take shelter and have a fair chance of spotting or combating an incoming threat. "That is, from what I understand it, a theory of linear time. There is also the Cloud theory, and the Multiverse theory." Chunks of rock, metal, and dirt flew free as she went at the mound with her gloved hands. Her injured shoulder burned still, but she ignored it. The patch would do its job. "The Cloud Theory states that all events happen simultaneously. At which point, your spanning is more like moving through points in space then it is along a sequence. It doesn't matter when you moved to a given time to accomplish the objective, as long as you did at some point. It would explain things like finding a solid metal suitcase that Alissa had never noticed before, or an egg that appears from nowhere on a populated route. You hadn't seen it yet, because you hadn't personally encounter it, even though you have already accomplished the tasks outside of your core timeline."
Dusting her hands off by clapping them across each other, she admired her handiwork, fists on her hips. "The last theory suggests that every decision made creates a parallel universe. In that instance, the reason the timeline doesn't change for you is because you can't follow the split with your powers and sensiibilities, but it's all theoretical science. No one has ever proven time travel before."

"So... wait," Rainbow says, pausing in her help, "you're saying that I might have come back later to now in order to help us along the way? If that's the case, then why wouldn't I have given anything more helpful? ...and why wouldn't I have felt myself. I sure did with that demonstration back there..."
"I do think I understand what you're getting at with 'personal timeline', though," she says, nodding, "Like, my memories that I get now don't get transferred to a previous me, even if I go and say hello to them, nor do I know them if I head to that point in time."
"...I'd like to hope that I'm not just creating a new world every time I span," she adds, gulping. "That would just be cruel..."

"Consider, you don't know what made your bonded partner sick in the first place. With experience and a better understanding of its abilities, or more perception and experience with the timeline itself, maybe it paved the way for your eventual return to this time. Its younger, healthy self, also being a time traveler, can exist in all points of time that you can. It is not the same being."
