After a bit more wandering, Mayu finds herself in the Tundra biome. Before her, there is a Snorunt sitting on a rock, staring off into space.

Interesting. This, Mayu knows, is the juvenile form of the Pokemon whose DNA is blended into her own. She's never actually seen one before.
As with the Shelgon, she approaches close enough to be noticed but far enough not to seem threatening. Probably.

The Snorunt blinks, then turns to face Mayu. It seems confused at first, then appears to approve of Mayu. "Hello!" It chirps. Wait...did Mayu just understand it?!

Very interesting. Mayu can generally understand what a Pokemon is trying to convey, but never as clearly as this. It seems the link between species makes a difference. "Hello, little one."

"You smell like a human, but you also smell kinda like [Mama]." Snorunt points out. That last word was definitely not one that was recognizable, but Mayu's brain "translated" it as basically the term for female parent. "Why is that?"

"Because I am like a human, but I am also like your... [mama]," Mayu says, doing her best to repeat the unfamiliar sound. "I am a little of both."

Snorunt doesn't seem to mind your difficulty in pronouncing the new word/sound, instead choosing to continue this line of questioning. "Oh. Why?"

"Because that was how my parents decided to make me. They wanted me to be stronger than a human."

Snorunt seems at once surprised and understanding. "Makes some sense; humans are kinda squishy. I didn't know humans could do that though. Do humans evolve now too?"

"No. Not that I know of. Perhaps someday soon they will figure it out." Mayu pauses. "Or perhaps not. Most humans like to leave fighting to Pokemon. That is no way to evolve."

Snorunt agrees. How will humans ever evolve if they don't get fighting experience?

"Indeed."
"Have you lived in this place all your life?"

Considering that Snorunt has no memory of other places, it believes this to be the case.

"What is it like? They told me humans aren't allowed to battle Pokemon in here. I suppose Pokemon can still fight one another."

Pokemon fight each other all the time. Food, territory, grudges, etc. All are reasons to fight. Snorunt doesn't really understand the question.

"I wanted to know what living in here is like, compared to living somewhere else. But I suppose if you have never been outside then you wouldn't know." Mayu ponders this for a moment.
"Does your [mama] live nearby?"

Snorunt has been living on its own for some time now. Most Wild Pokemon are self-sufficient within a year or two, depending on species. They can often defend themselves, if nothing else, within a couple months after hatching.

"I see. Humans take much longer than that."
