Snorunt thinks that sounds like a grand idea. Plus, talking with a human who can actually talk back is fun!
Snorunt is Female, level 21, Bashful, with Inner Focus and Winter's Kiss.

"Would you like to go in a Pokeball," Mayu asks, "or stay out and walk with me?"

Snorunt opts to walk for awhile. Should be fun!

Mayu wanders towards the taiga area, Snorunt in tow. She's not sure exactly what taiga is, other than cold; may as well take the opportunity to find out.

After wandering the taiga some, Mayu makes her way to warmer climes, first an ordinary forest, then a much damper forest. It's within this second one that she bumps into something somewhat unexpected. A Torterra. It appears to be mealtime for it, given that it's calmly munching on plants. It side-eyes Mayu, but otherwise doesn't react to her presence.

Oh. Oh, it's beautiful. The size, the sheer power, the aura of calm confidence... Mayu has already dedicated a fair amount of effort to training Delta, her Quilladin. But even so... she's tempted. She stops at her by-now customary distance to observe. Maybe a little farther away than the others, it really is awfully big.

Torterra mostly ignores Mayu in favor of crunching on plant matter.

That's about what Mayu expected, really. And... now that she's here, she finds she doesn't really have anything to say to Torterra. Does she want it to join her? Not really. Not that she'd say no, but... it seems a shame to take it away from home, just to travel with a trainer who might not even make proper use of it. She hasn't even got a ranch for her Pokemon; the electronic storage system has always seemed sufficient.
Perhaps she ought to get around to that.
"How are you finding the temperature?" she asks Snorunt. "Froslass are drawn to heat, even though too much of it is not good for us. I do not know if it is the same for you."

Snorunt doesn't seem to be having too much issue with the ambient heat. It's done a lot more walking just today than in most of its life prior. Not necessarily a bad thing, just a comment, really. Torterra eventually moves over to a nearby break in the trees when the sun happens to peek through. It settles in to just photosynthesize until it has enough energy for whatever the rest of the day brings.

"Good. Most places are warmer than your home, though not as warm as this one. It would be unfortunate if you had difficulty outside arctic climes."
Mayu watches the Torterra for a little while longer, and eventually decides not to bother it. In fact, she decides she's done with the Safari Zone: it was pleasant enough, but if she's not going to attempt to catch a Torterra, what is she going to try for? Snorunt was... something of a special case.

Heading out of Fuchsia towards Route 15, Mayu bumps into an overly-friendly Bayleef. For some weird reason, it seems to like her. It's being strangely affectionate.

This is strange. "Hello," Mayu tells the Bayleef. "What is it? Do you want something?"

"Bay!" It shouts before nuzzling Mayu some more. It accidentally knocks her over with its over-eager affections, then proceeds to bathe her face with its tongue. Not unlike a dog.

Ack. There is saliva on her face. Mayu didn't mind the Pokemon rubbing up against her, but this is a little much. "Please get off of me." She starts chilling the air around her, hoping this will make her too uncomfortable to lick. Grass Pokemon don't typically take cold well.

Oh god, why did chilling the air make things worse?! Bayleef seems to think that the sudden drop in temperature means Mayu needs cuddles to keep warm.

This is not working as intended. At least it's not licking her anymore? Mayu tries scritching its head, to reward this non-licking behavior.

The weird Bayleef croons appreciatively as it continues cuddling Mayu to 'keep her warm'. It takes much cajoling, but Mayu is eventually able to get the Pokemon to let her up. Before she can say much else, it has shoved its face into her bag and found an empty Poke Ball, with which it promptly captures itself. Pokemon get?
Bayleef is Female, level 22, with Overgrow and Aroma Veil.

Pokemon got, indeed. Clearly this isn't a wild Bayleef, no wild Pokemon is that friendly to humans. (Or if it were, it wouldn't stay wild for long.) Equally clearly, whoever owned it previously did not train it very well. Mayu resolves to correct this.
Onward along the scenic route to Vermillion.

Mayu comes across some weird person wearing some sort of...armor? No, wait, that's a sports jersey over top of that, so this guy is one of those 'sports' people. Mayu doesn't really care what sport he plays. All that matters right now is he's challenging her to a 1v1 Pokemon fight. He sends out a Gurdurr.

Very well. Mayu sends out her own Fighting-type for a proper martial arts duel; as usual, Alpha starts off with a blisteringly fast (if erratically aimed) set of punches.
