Victoria - Adventure Thread (Johto)

Thankfully, Miyako does not turn up until the following day; or, more accurately, her Chimecho shows up first and makes lots of noise. The woman herself arrives shortly thereafter.

"Ah, here we are. Good work, Chimecho." She praises the wind chime Pokemon. When Victoria comes out to meet her, she sees that Miyako appears to have finally replaced the crappy prosthetic arm she was wearing the last time they spoke. She also has her sword back, it seems. At the same time, however, she appears to have replaced her traditional miko uniform for more modern clothing; though still favoring loose-fitting designs.

Miyako nods at Victoria. "Yes. It is, isn't it?" She snarks, before her expression suddenly becomes serious. "Personally, I think delving into these alternate dimensions for the sake of 'fun' or 'challenge' is a stupid idea. However, one thing my sister and I can agree on is that nobody deserves to remain petrified for eternity. If that talisman she gave you really works, then you will have freed the souls of the fallen, if nothing else." She grimaces.

"Additionally, if others have been taken in there as we have been led to believe, then either that creature you told Aima about has a way out into this world, or more people than just you and your companions are able to enter unwittingly. Whichever is the case, it cannot be allowed to roam free. Such a creature is unnatural and ought to be contained or destroyed." She pauses to stare directly into Victoria's eyes. "If you're like Aima, which I suspect you might be, I don't expect you to have the stomach to do what is necessary unless forced. That's why I offer you this alternative." She produces the unique Poke Ball in question. It is clearly heavier than even a Heavy Ball, and there are strange runes etched into its surface. Her gaze does not waver. "I have only the one of these to give you. If it fails for any reason, you must destroy the creature. There is no other way."

The mechanics of this unique Poke Ball are as such: It operates exactly as if it were a Master Ball, but only works on the Union Cave Dungeon Boss. However, it not only does not work at full health, but it has a 60% chance of failure when used. The Boss can have a maximum of 50% HP remaining, but as long as it is not outright killed, the capture device will still work on it. When you roll accuracy to throw it, or when you touch the Boss's unconscious form with the ball, roll a d10. On 1-4, the ball fails to work properly and doesn't energize the creature. On 5-6, it energizes successfully, but breaks trying to contain the beast.

Surprisingly, Miyako nods in understanding. "Look, I get it. I'm not heartless you know, but honestly? The fact that there are potentially other people in there, dead or alive, means that this thing has attacked them before. It may be that it considers this 'Alternate Union Cave' to be its territory, and is merely defending itself in the best way it knows how, but what if it's not? What if it deliberately targeted people with intent to harm them and not just to protect its territory?" She queries. "We have no way of knowing. We cannot take the risk. If the device fails to contain it, you must destroy it. To prevent future victims, as you say."

Miyako nods slowly. "Right. Well, so long as the threat is neutralized I suppose it doesn't matter much the 'how'. I would caution you to not rely wholly on the device I made for you. It's a first rough attempt, and I don't know how sturdy it is. It may be that it will simply give out at some unknown point in the future should you succeed in containing the beast within it." She stands there awkwardly for a bit before quickly turning on her heel and heading back out the way she came in.

She looks puzzled for a minute before realization dawns on her. "Oh. That. Right..." She looks away, slightly embarrassed. "I haven't really given it much thought, no. Aima (and Leader Morty, surprisingly) actually bullied the League bureaucrats into giving me the stuff I need to make a new (non-combat) arm." She explains awkwardly. "Now that my penance for breaking their laws is finished and I have been granted all the proper licenses, everything else was returned to me. They're still leery of letting me have a cannon-arm though; not that I blame them overmuch..."

"Well, I suspect that if you do capture it, it will need a better ball eventually. As I said earlier, this one is only my first crude attempt. Unfortunately, as I crafted it specifically for this one creature, testing it is only possible on said creature. Can't know what I did wrong with it/what needs adjusting without seeing it actually contain something." Miyako points out. Victoria notices she carefully does not say anything either way about the offer of free workspace. Still, no accusations being throw about, so, progress!

"Right..." She mutters before stepping around Victoria and quickly departing, Chimecho in tow.

Apparently it was nap time for the two lovelies; though Whitney stirs a bit as Victoria enters.

Whitney snuggles up and goes back to sleep as Victoria joins them. Nap time!
