She laughs as she considers that, but yeah it tracks. She's a handful.
Victoria stays with Aima for a while, even enjoying some tea and chatting more, before getting ready to leave.
"Ok Aima, I just wanted to see how you guys were doing and catch up a bit. But I think it's time we go onto Olivine now."

The Gym is pretty shmancy. All shiny and metallic. Surprisingly, there are no Gym Trainers within to bar the path or "test" challengers. Instead, it's just a straight shot to Leader Jasmine. She smiles softly at Victoria as she approaches, seeming to have this 'harmless grandmother' look to her.
"Hello! Welcome to Olivine Gym. May I help you with something?" She asks politely.

Victoria looks around. The gym is nice, for sure but... where's the traps? And puzzles? And trainers? She looks to May/Kay and shrugs before approaching. Jasmine's just 'there'. This is all strange.
"Uhhhh, yes hi Jasmine? I've come to challenge you but..."
She looks around again.
"It feels weird to just 'do' that, though."

Jasmine laughs softly, her eyes twinkling with mirth. "Oh dear, have the other gyms so spoiled you with their traps and trials that you can't accept a simple fight?" Before you can even think up a response, the gym doors are slammed open and a teenage boy with dirty-blonde hair storms in, shouting.
"Grandma! I'm here to challenge you!" He shouts. Wait...did he just call Jasmine 'grandma'?! Is...is Jasmine married?! With grandkids?!
Jasmine sighs. "Hello again, Daisuke. You know I would be happy to fight you again, but it'll have to wait until later. You see, I already have a challenger that I was trying to have a nice conversation with."
The boy, now identified as 'Daisuke', crosses his arms petulantly and scowls at Victoria. "Hmph! You're not worthy to challenge Grandma Jasmine yet! You'll have to go through me first!"
When Victoria looks at Daisuke, then back at Jasmine again, the Gym Leader merely shrugs as if to say 'you have your "test" now'.

She is then quickly interrupted by a boy who- Oh wow Jasmine's a grandmother? Looking like that? Where's the damn fountain of youth keeping all these gym leaders looking great? Because DAMN. She's then quickly challenged, and throws up her hands.
"Maybe I shouldn't have tested the universe...But yes! I accept your challenge!"
She smiles and readies her pokemon!

Victoria feels a little bad beating him like that. Daisuke gave his all despite the CLEAR power difference. She recalls Essen after that and walks over to him.
"Hey you know your grandma doesn't play around right? She's REAL strong. I see you are going heavy steel like her. Makes sense. Steels are pretty strong. You've seen Raum already, and I have an Escavalier too. But your team needs some training. I mean you've got evolutions left and all. So you've got plenty of room to grow still!"
She has an idea and fishes something out. It's one of her Ultra balls, she draws a 'V' on it and hands it over.
"'V' for me, Victoria. I want you to use this, and make an awesome new friend. Use 'that' ball there. Because you'll need a filled out team to fight me again. Because I'm officially challenging you to a re-match at the silver conference. If you get in and it's actually 'in' the conference, great! Or if it's the day before outside, that's fine too! You've got Jasmine's lineage in you, and if I'm the first person to beat you like that outside of her, then you'll want to come back and fight me, don't you? So... what do you say?"

Daisuke is at a loss for words. Jasmine, for her part, merely smiles at the interaction. May is holding back squee-ing at the awesomeness of the whole 'mentor/rival' thing. Daisuke opens and closes his mouth several times, trying to find the words to use. Eventually he settles for a "gruff" nod. He takes the ball almost reverently and places it in his bag. Then he scurries off to get his team looked after (and possibly brag to friends about this awesome trainer he just fought  ). Jasmine is still smiling in that knowing manner that all grandparents/elderly folks have when Victoria turns back around to address her. "You dealt with that quite well, Victoria. I daresay you have the right attitude for a burgeoning Champion. Once your Pokemon are healed up, we can hopefully begin our match and see if the skill you displayed against my grandson will carry you through against my own team." She states. |

Victoria sees May trying to suppress a squee and giggles. When Daisuke agrees, she beams as he runs off. And she blushes when Jasmine tells her she has the good quality of a champion.
”That’s a lot coming from you, thanks Jasmine! And yes, let me heal, cause I’m ready!”
She goes off to heal and quickly comes back.

As her strongest pokemon literally does nearly nothing to the Steelix and gets flicked away, there's no way she needs to continue at this point. There's a 'wall' and then there's a sheer cliff. She holds Leibling close and just turns and leaves.

Jasmine frowns sadly. Yes, she wants to challenge people, but so often this is the end result. Perhaps if Miss Victoria had brought more special-attacking Pokemon? Steel-types are well-known for being physically bulky, though Jasmine has trained hers to be almost as tough on the other side as well. Jasmine hopes Victoria will return someday to try again. It hurts a little when she's considered by so many to be 'too good' or 'impossible to beat, so don't even try'.
Outside, with Victoria & Co., May gives her girlfriend a big, slimy hug. So cheer up a bit, yeah?

She's not going to 'not try', but having her strongest pokemon basically treated like they both were at the beginning by the Steelix (Aka the whole reason for her to fake a personality), hurt deep. Not to mention seeing Leibling do so 'little' to it with an attack on a weakness.
Vicky doesn't really react to the hug, it doesn't really help right now. (Well a little, but Vicky would rather pout right now.)
"Alright we just gonna try the other one. Guess that means going back on the ferry..."
She goes to buy tickets.

Tickets for the ferry are an easy buy, so a few hours later, with May never having stopped hanging off of her, Victoria arrives in Cianwood City once again. It's getting on a bit late, so the Gym has already closed for the night. It'll be open bright and early tomorrow though. May is determined to make Victoria stop being all pouty through the power of hugs!

It's kinda hard to knock Victoria (and even Leibling) out of their funk of feeling right back to when they started again, and that's most of the trip over. May's 'trying' and that's appreciated, but Vicky's now mostly in her head figuring out what to do for Jasmine. She's not really sure right now. But at least Cianwood will be straight forward fighting type. Something she should be able to handle.
Once they get there and it's late, she checks in for the night.

May does not let up, making sure to cuddle Victoria close all night long. Poor Vicky is clearly not in the mood for happy-fun times, but cuddling is always allowable!
