Sawk Endures the Fell Stinger and prepares for its next attack. It knows it can't take another hit, so it throws one last Fire Punch to try and deal some damage, or score a burn.

Mienshao opposes! Stealth: |HnyeNeF5d6+1
Mienshao is ready for this trick, and sweeps a long sleeve/arm in front of its face to gracefully bat away the sand.
It leaps up and aims a kick at Armaldo's head. Ayame continues applying Focused and Inspired Training/Orders. She also spends an AP on this.

Clair crumpled to the ground, causing Lowell to curse. He was already in the motion of going for his next pokeball before remembering about the three pokemon rule and cursing harder.
He recalled Clair then went to hand Ayame her money.
"You know, for someone who seems to have such disdain for 'underhanded tactics' you sure have everything here stacked for you to win. You've got two other trainers coming before you to whittle down your opponent, and a rule that means two of my Pokemon who could have contributed easily to that battle were benched so that you win this. So don't you dare judge me for trying my best and using everything I can to prove that even though everyone looks down on my team, we deserve to be respected as well"
He then gave her the 464 poke he owed her and gave her a wave as he left.
"Good fight, though. Felt like just a couple coin tosses didn't go down my way, but I'll be back tomorrow. Give a call if you want to have another battle outside of a gym setting, though. Just for fun. It's hard to find good sparring partners, you know?"
He passed by the Pokemon Center and healed up his team before returning and finding Jane/Amelia.
"Well, that went downhill real fast. I wonder if Nal called all other gym leaders and said 'there's this really pale kid that only uses bugs, so ready a team just to dunk him' as revenge for our battle? because really... Toxicroak, two Fire/Fighting pokemon, Fire Punch... Even the Poliwrath would have been good against me if I didn't have the one specific bug that destroys it"

Before he leaves, Ayame has a rebuttal to his stress-induced rant.
"It's called a 'gauntlet' for a reason. Everyone goes through it in order to earn the right to challenge our Leader. You knew what you signed up for when you decided to challenge this Gym. The 'Gatekeeper' trainer explained everything to you. If you don't like the way the Gauntlet is run, then you are free to find your next Badge elsewhere, Lowell.
That aside, neither I, nor any of the other trainers here were judging your tactics. Admittedly it is frustrating when your opponent flees an attack rather than stand and take it, but your judgement in such a command is no less sound than any other's. If your Pokemon can avoid damage, why not do so? It's hardly different then use of Shield Moves like Detect. I meant no disrespect to your team, and the fact that you made it as far as you did while severely disadvantaged is a testament to your skill as a trainer and the strength of your Pokemon. I do look forward to facing you again, though if you want a full match with me outside of the Gym I'm afraid you'll be waiting for awhile.
On a more personal note, if you want a challenge, you could try battling my younger sister, Juri. She lives with my other mother in Pewter City, and works at that Gym. I'm sure you've met her if you have the Desert Badge."

"Ya, ya. Whatever lets you sleep at night, darling. I wasn't complaining about the rules, if you noticed, even if they go against my entire philosophy as a trainer. Let's not kid ourselves, eh? You hated both times I fled, and it wasn't just frustration. Plus I already went through that one gym, thank you... Did she tell you to load in on Rock Tomb just to mess with me? They also loved to throw rocks at me back when I tried that one"
Lowell gave a wary glance at the thought before shrugging.
"You're no fun, though. Hasn't your family ever told you that variety is the spice of life?"

"If you want to get technical about it, yes, I prefer my opponents not run away. It seems cowardly. However, I also have acknowledged that in a pinch, it is a valid strategy. Something about 'pick your battles', I believe. As for Rock Tomb? Nobody told us you used Bugs at all. If you use your high movement to your advantage, why should we as Gym Trainers not use certain types of moves to our advantage to counter your own?"
Ayame quirks an eyebrow.
"I take my job seriously and so I'm 'no fun'? Okay. Whatever you like. My sister is the 'fun' one."
