Braxton smiled, "It'll be fun. We used to call it questions. Essentially, on your turn, you can ask any question that you want to know about me and I'll answer it, but you need to also answer it yourself. Alternatively, you can offer a piece of information about yourself that you think I don't know.
What do you say?" If she agrees Braxton took another quick bite of his food, "Great, why don't I start? What is your fondest memory?"

"Oh, uh, yeah, I guess we could do that," she says, seeming surprised at the request. "I, uh, don't know how much of my life is interesting enough to warrant, y'know, talking about, but I'll give it a shot."
"Fondest memory? Oh, uh, wow... there's been a lot over the years, I don't know if I can just pick one. But... uh, meeting you would be up there..." she finishes, a bit red, before hastily following up with, "Uh, what's been your favorite place while traveling, and why?"

Braxton's ears turned a bit red from the comment. "I'm afraid mine isn't so great as that. It was likely when Blaire first woke up and we knew she'd be ok. She gave a weak little smile and I knew that, for everything that had been sacrificed, there would be something good coming from our blunder.
Well You know I haven't been travelling many places, but I would have to say Deepgrove. It was the people really, they all seemed very genuine, and life seemed simpler there. Not so bogged down by the problems so many other cities have.
Hmmm... When I was much younger, I was at the beach once and spent most of the day playing there. I ended up mistaking another woman who was there as my mother and followed her almost all the way to her home. When I realised my mistake, I was so frightened that I ran from the woman and just tried to get back to the beach. The police found me at about midnight, still trying to find my way back, despite having walked in circles for the better part of the evening. My mum was worried sick, but it was while wandering the streets that I met one of the first people who joined my group of friends. He was an older boy named Sam, and he walked and talked with me for a few hours before he was called away as well. Sam was a friend of mine for the next seven years."

"Oh, that must have been worrying," she says, "But at least some good came out of it. You found a new friend, and no lasting harm was done. Not every story has such a happy ending."
After a little pause she seems to realize, "Oh, yeah, right, the game... Uh, well, you shared something about you, so I feel like I should do the same. Well, it's nothing as profound as yours, but, uh, you probably couldn't tell, but I have a pretty big sweet tooth. That's why I usually end up getting something with berries whenever I eat, because I just have to have something sweet with my meal, or else I tend to get a bit antsy..." She gives a small smile. "So, uh, yeah, long story short, that's why I eat a lot of berries. And why the only cooking I can do is baking."

Braxton smiled as he finished the last bite of his meal. "Heh, well fair enough. If I was going to ask a question then, what would you describe as your biggest weakness?" Once she answers "As for me... I think it might be how zealous I can get. I fight quite hard for what I know is right, even if it is to my own detriment."

"Hmm..." she thinks on that for a moment. "Uh, I'd say, it's as you've said before. I'm too optimistic. I see the best in people, I think they've always got the best interests of everyone else at heart. I've seen enough to know that it's probably not true, but I just can't help it. It's in my nature..."
"Now, uh... I've noticed that you don't seem very pious... You don't really appear to believe much in the gods, even though you're marked by one, or so it seems by your Aura. Why is that?"

"Well, I would say that I envy you. I wish I could see the world through your eyes. I do try and see the best in people, and I believe that people may redeem themselves for past evils, but I often find myself wary of people until I have been given reason not to be so.
I have not really been much for god-fearing, no. As to being marked by one, I find that interesting, but I couldn't really tell you much else about it, seeing as you are the first person I've met to ever mention it. I have never really been given much reason to worry myself with any gods. I think that, even if they do exist, I would not really change how I lived my life in any way. They have never done anything to interfere with my life, either negatively or positively, so I hold no particular allegiance or grudge. I do what I think is right, and no gods have ever seemed to help or hinder my efforts, so I figure, even if they do exist, they probably don't care about me enough to worry about caring about them."

"That's fair enough, I suppose," she says, nodding. "Why worry about things that haven't done anything to affect you? And, I suppose if nothing's happened because of it, you wouldn't know of being Touched unless you ran into another Reader like myself. I wouldn't imagine you would have, though."

"I suppose what's left to be asked is what prompted you to seek out the gods as you have?
As to whether or not I've met another reader, I wouldn't know if I had." He chuckled slightly and took another sip of his water, "Not easy to tell just by looking at them I would say."

"For me... it's a... rather personal matter." she says, hesitantly. "I've had dreams. I'd...rather not talk about it, right now, but... I believe that the gods are still out there, just waiting to be found. I have hope, and people need that in these times, too."

Braxton nodded, "I'll not pry, don't worry. Well if you believe so strongly in this, I suppose I should at least brush up on my knowledge of these gods.
Do you happen to know which god has cursed me? Or blessed me, I guess... and do you know why they would have?"

"Uh... I guess if I'd seen the god, I might be able to tell," she says, "but without doing that, I can just tell that there's a swirl of divine. And as for why?" Lillian shrugs, then gives a small grin. "It's sometimes hard enough to give reasons why humans do things, no?"

Braxton frowned. "I suppose, but I can't help but feel weird about the whole thing. I imagine that whatever did this to me did not have good intentions, and I hate not being able to know something's intentions."

"Why worry about it?" she asks. "If the intentions were bad, there's nothing you'll be able to do about it anyways, so might as well just figure that it's good."
...maybe that's not exactly the most reassuring thing to hear.

Braxton shook his head, "Alas, I don't really find myself so able to ignore these things.
Ohh I have an idea. What is the most astounding thing you've ever witnessed?"

"Huh... that's a hard one..." She thinks about it for a few minutes, before responding "It's probably not the type of answer that you want to hear, but... just everything humanity has done. All that has been built up since the dawn of the world. All the cities, the marvels of technology, and the bonds. Just thinking about it all...it's incredible." She becomes lost in thought for a few moments, before coming back to reality with a bit of a sheepish grin. "Oh, uh, yeah... sorry about that. I sometimes follow my train of thought as it leaves the station. What about you? What incredible things have you seen?"

Braxton laughed, "Well you've gone and stolen my answer, haven't you? I've not seen much by way of sights, but humanity can be the most appalling and the most wonderful thing. To witness people come together under a common goal and become more than the sum of their parts is, I think, the greatest thing I have ever seen. I have seen people rejected by society join together and fight to protect the very people that threw them out. Dejected individuals who did good for nothing more than knowing it was the right thing to do: that is what truly amazes me."
Braxton looked over to Lillian's plate, and back to his own empty one. "I am quite full now. That was lovely, how was yours?"

"It was quite good," she agrees. "Thank you for this meal, it means a lot."

Braxton smiled, "It is nothing but a gesture. I am glad that we have made it this far in such a short period. I know we aren't quite at the point of finding your brother, but I thought a little celebrating could help get us ready for the next leg?"
Braxton later rose to approach the counter and pay the bill.

"Ah, thank you for dining with us today, sir and madam," the person at the front says as you pay, "Did you enjoy your meals?"
"Yes, thank you."
