Braxton put two of his potions on the table and said, "Could I trade these in for a pokeball please?"
He put the extra 50 required on the table and tried to strike up a conversation with the shop clerk.
"By the way, I am looking for anybody that might remember something that happened about 20 years ago. Do you happen to know anybody that might be able to help me?"

"Uh, I don't know, you looking for anything specific, or what?" he asks. "Because I can remember twenty years ago...barely. But I expect that's not what you meant. If you're looking for major events, town history, the like, I'd suggest trying out the library. If it's important, it's probably in there."

Braxton thanked the shopkeeper and left the shop.
Looking on the map Kelly had given him, he made his way to the library and entered.
He looked around inside for a bit to get an idea of how extensive this library would be before approaching a librarian.
Excuse me, Braxton started in a hushed tone, I think I might need some help. I am looking for some sort of mention of somebody who may have come through here about 20 years ago. It is a long shot. I do not know too much, but if you could help me it would be appreciated."

The library is a fairly small, cozy building, although it's cram packed with books, and it appears to have a smaller second floor. Unfortunately, the reference section...is rather arcane. You can't make out how the books are categorized.
"Oh?" the young woman asks. "Do you know anything about this person? Did they stay for very long, or do anything memorable? Because if hey were just passing through... we probably don't have anything."

Braxton scratched his jaw line as he thought. "Based on pictures, I know that he was around my height. Slightly thinner build than mine, and he kept his hair long. It was jet black and he had very dark brown eyes.
He would have been travelling through with a group. They may have hid their motives, but they should have been on official business. His name was Jackson Rannells, though I doubt he would have used that name. To be perfectly honest, I do not know much about the nature of his trip, nor if he would have stayed for long. I am asking on the off chance that there is some known record of a group of strangers travelling through led by a man of that description. It is a long shot I know, but I am searching for the legacy of my father, so I am asking everywhere. Anything you might be able to offer to help is appreciated."

"Ah, I'll see if I can come up with anything, sir. Just hold here a few minutes." She boots up a computer, wiping dust off, and proceeds to do a lot of typing, before returning. "I'm sorry, I couldn't find anything. You're welcome to look through our library though. I do wish you luck, sir."

Braxton nodded. "Thank you for your help."
He knew nothing about this library, or even where he would start looking for any information. He decided to leave this for now. It could take him hours.
He headed back to the pokemon centre, intent on inspecting those pages.

"Oh? You're back quicker than I expected," Lillian says, with Cyrus sitting on the table in front of her. "Did everything go all right with those people you wanted to talk to? I can see that you're disappointed about something."

Braxton looked down to his feet. "Unfortunately not. The area is blocked off by the police, so I could not find them. I did a bit of shopping and went to see the library. You should go see it sometime. I think you might like it. I am sure you would find great stories in there.
I think I will be looking at those papers we retrieved from Kelly. What have you been doing while I was gone?"

"Not too much. I've been talking to, or at, or whatever, with Cyrus." She smiles wryly. "I think he understands me, even if he doesn't always listen."

Braxton released Blaire and Ruairidh from their pokeballs. "Right, I am going up to read for a while. Feel free to stay and relax with Cyrus and Lillian here, as long as you're alright with that Lillian."
Braxton walked up to where he had stashed the papers to read over them.

"Yeah, it's cool," she says. "I'll be down here if you need me."
Back with the file, you open it up to see that there is a series of 6 pages, each with a heading and some scribblings on them, as well as a bunch of numbers which…apparently mean something.
Rothana Tablet All tests have returned negative results. If there ever was any true power, it has long since been utilized. Disappointing. It does appear likely to have been constructed as a receptacle for it, though, given the text and the embedded crystals, though auric energy, rather than divine. [There is a series of undecipherable runes next] “He who has little of the soul may partake of the gifts of he who had much.” Charming.
Crystalline Skull Unknown origins. Supposedly soul traps. I’ll need to investigate further. [Further down the page, after a bunch more numbers and crossed out scribbles] Indeed, it does appear to be an energy siphon in the guise of a focus. Sadly, it appears to be crafted by mortals, and has also not seen much use. After imbibing the energy, I’ve only measured a 3.2% increase. Not enough to make the effort worthwhile.
Mechanical Pokémon Said to be crafted by an actual Chosen of Regigigas. Despite the common name, these golems are powered by raw sparks of divinity, rather than actual mechanisms, making them infinitely adaptable. Of the original twelve, I have thus far only been able to locate three. The rest are lost to history, presumably languishing in a tomb somewhere. Maddening. [There are many, many numbers and letters, separated into three columns, one having markedly less writing in it.] Despite the disaster in neglecting to pay attention to the failsafe on one of them, this has been a fair success. Unfortunately, the destruction of the Growlithe-bot did a fair amount of damage, and I was unable to shield it all, so accurate measurements are impossible. I estimate at least a doubling in my capabilities, and that was just from two sparks. I need more.
Amulet of Al'Akbar Supposedly this contains the soul of a great warrior. I will have to ensure if there is, that it does not overwhelm my own. [There is a small amount of numbers surrounding a drawing of an ornate talisman, much less than the previous pages.] Lying swine. I suppose he thought that Gengar bound within would kill me. I will have to teach him his place.
Runecircle Stones [At the bottom of a long page of distressed scribbling] Unequivocal failure. Any attempts to drain power from them resulted in greater and greater lengths of power loss. Whoever or whatever made them knew what they were doing. No further attempts will be made unless further information comes to light.
Soul Dew Apparently this is the very thing made directly by the gods. I have no idea how those idiots came into possession of it. This is the motherlode, and I believe that it is enough to begin my ascension. At the very least, it will put me above all other mortals. But, I must not be hasty. This much energy released improperly could level the city. I will determine how to best deal with it over the next little while.[There is a sketch of...Lillian's pendant. Unlike the others, there are no numbers whatsoever, or any other writing below.]
You recognize all of these names, some more than others. All from legends of the past.
The Rothana, a sect of Aura Guardians, who lived in the mountains, and eschewed all technology. The Crystalline Skulls, purportedly a set of thirteen relics that have mysterious powers. Mechanical Pokémon, the greatest inventions of the warrior-smith Archimedes. Al'Akbar, a ferocious champion of Zygarde who singlehandedly brought the previous regime to an end, before being trapped in an amulet by his brother, a powerful mage of Diancie. The Runecircle Stones, well... everyone knows those. No one knows what they're for, but everyone knows them. And, the Soul Dew. Said to be entrusted to a pair of humans by the Eon Duo at the beginning of time, it has disappeared several times through history, only to reappear in the hands of those chosen by the gods to help restore hope, love, and peace.

As Braxton poured over the papers, he was extremely confused. So little of this made any sense. He rubbed his eyes, a dull pain having formed behind them. He sat reading for about an hour reading over it. Well, it would seem my search is coming up empty handed. Perhaps this city does not have the information I seek. [/color]
Braxton got off his bed and rubbed the weariness from his eyes. He gathered the pages, stretched, and went back downstairs to find Lillian at the table. Approaching her, he pulled up a chair and sat across from her.
"I uhh... I think we might need to talk. Can we go for a walk?"

Braxton shrugged, "I don't know if distressed is the word. I am frustrated because my searches for my father have come up fruitless, but I did find some information in those sheets that you need to know about.
Shall we?" Braxton had walked over to the door and held it open for her.

Braxton tried to ensure that there was nobody that seemed to be tailing them before he spoke Perception check for people tailing us "It would appear... that I may have found the reason that Kelly was so interested in your pendant. Based on what she has said, she seems to think that it was made by the Gods. She seems to think that your pendant was created by Latios and Latias. Whatever it is though, it seems that she wanted it for part of her... 'ascension' or something. She seems to be much more nefarious than I first though, and it sounds like she is quite mad. However, I am worried that she will be trying to get it back. Given that you and your brother seem to be linked to it, you may be in danger too.
I don't want to alarm you, but I think you need to be aware of this."

Braxton doesn't see anyone following them, or, indeed, really anyone out at all. Too hot out right now for any sane person to be out in it without a good reason.
"Well, ah, I already figured it was something like that. I... uh, may not have told you everything." She runs her fingers through her hair nervously. "Y'see, my brother and I, we're Aura Readers. That's one of the main reasons for us looking for the gods. Divine things have this...feeling to them in their aura, if you know what to look for. I can't really describe it to someone who doesn't have the Sight. You have tinges of it, too, in your Aura. It means you've been blessed by a god in some way. Or cursed... I can't tell." She looks at him pensively.

Braxton kept walking. His shoulders sagged a bit. "Well... ah. Well thank you for letting me know that. I guess that is how you are sure in the Gods' existence and such?
Auras... as in what Ruairidh channels? Sounds interesting. What do you get off me when you read my aura then?
Cursed by a God... probably sounds about right." He laughed, "But that is more reason than ever to get you and Cyrus up to scratch on defending yourselves, lest some scoundrel attempt to rob you again."

"Yes, that is in part why," she explains. "But I have also seen things that could not be explained in any other way than divine intervention."
"Yes, like that. I see what he wields. As for reading you? Aura reading is not very precise. A kind and gentle person, who normally has a bright aura, but it can be darkened by anger. An untrustworthy and deceitful person can brighten their aura by being in a good mood. And then...there are ways to hide the readings. Kelly was good at that. I did not see the danger until it was too late. You have a darker aura than usual, now. I imagine that you're feeling disappointment, possibly betrayal at my keeping this from you. I'm sorry at that. I needed to know that I could trust you. I know now that I can."
"Well, even a curse can be seen as a blessing if you have the right state of mind," she says wryly. "And, I suppose. I still would prefer not to fight, if I can. Sometimes it can just make things worse."
