'Brooke is a bit different then I thought she'd be from your memories' Leanne thought Leon replying "She must have been waiting pretty long" he said as Leanne thought 'It seems like she was, and she wants answers but I don't think the truth will satisfy her' "Then how about half-truths for the moment then when the transformation runs out I'll fill in the gaps" Leon said as Leanne nodded slightly.
"Alright to answer your questions, me and Leon are of the same blood that's how we know each other. He lent me Rex, because he thought I'd have better use for him at the moment, and at the moment something is keeping him from showing up, but I promise he's close by enough that he's informed of what's going on and I'll be acting in his stead." Leanne explained everything she said technically true.

Leanne tried to think of something but decided to be completely honest "It's magic because of magic him and I can't be in the same place at the same time, and I knew to come here because of this." she said holding up the letter Brooke left for her.

"... Magic," echoes Brooke. Figures. It makes sense, or as much sense as anything in this stupid mess, but she's got no way of checking whether it's true. She purses her lips, studying Leanne for several long uncomfortable seconds, then finally says, "All right then. Not sure I believe you 'bout any of this, but I reckon I better keep you close until I can figure out what's goin' on. Don't suppose you can tell me when Leon'll show up again?"

Leanne suppresses a giggle but smiles and says "Don't worry when he can show up again he'll be there like that." she said snapping her fingers as Leon groaned "I would have liked to explain it more first, but I suppose our first transformation back will be explanation enough" he said as Leanne looked at Brooke "Now could you explain the situation in greater detail to me? What's going on with Yue and how did you find out she was in trouble?" Leanne asked.

That doesn't answer her question at all, but Brooke suspects she's not likely to get a straight answer there. "Got a letter from someone calling themselves 'Shinobi'. Said they had Yue, and to come to Celadon to meet up. There was more, but I couldn't make head nor tails of it - Alex thought it might be a code. If that's so, though, I reckon we need more to work it out. He got one letter, I got another; I don't suppose Leon gave you a letter when he gave you his Pokemon?" She can't (or doesn't care to) keep all the skepticism out of her voice at that last.

"He found your note before he received a letter himself. But I can go try and get it from the postmaster if it's part of some code," Leanne said letting Brooke have her skepticism, knowing that she was asking Brooke to take a lot of information on pure faith

"... sure, why not. Let's go." If the postmaster actually recognizes Leanne as someone allowed to have Leon's mail, that'll be reassuring. If not, no harm done.

Leanne went with Brooke to the postmaster's desk, and portrayed herself as Leanne Hunterson, sister to Leon Hunterson who she believed the postmaster had a letter for, hoping her word would be enough to get the employee to hand over Leon's letter to her.

The postmaster stares her down for a moment, then retrieves the letter and hands it over without a word. Seems he had to take a moment to decide if this girl before him really seemed like she was related to Leon. Not that Leon has ever met the Postmaster. Either way, the letter is in Leanne's possession now, so all's well in that department.

Leanne thanked the postmaster for his time, promising to deliver the letter to her brother. Then walked away with Brooke opening the letter showing it to Brooke "Alright unless someone else received one of these letters we should have all the pieces to whatever this gobbledygook is at the top" she said motioning to the code fragment on Leon's letter.

Brooke manages to figure out that Leon's letter has the code for deciphering the message that is split between the other two letters. Apparently this 'Shinobi' guy went to great lengths to... give them the solution to his own puzzle? That doesn't make a lot of sense. Until Brooke starts piecing it together. She's not great at it, but from what she manages to gather from the broken up, encoded words at the beginning of her and Alex's letters, it seems that this guy is Yue's real father, and the man who held her captive for 13 years was her uncle, Shinobi's brother. Brooke is also able to learn that Yue is, in fact, in no danger at all, but with her true family. The rest of the encoded writing, which is likely a further explanation of events, is just a bit beyond Brooke's skill at figuring out. Even with the cipher code, it's all jumbled up. Likely this whole thing with the multiple letters and the encoded writing is a test of the character/intelligence of Yue's so-called friends.

Leanne looked conflicted when Leon said "You don't have to lie. If you're going to be working with her someday. I know you don't want that hanging over you" Leanne nodded and took a breath "Not exactly, I wasn't lying earlier when I said we share the same blood, but I'm not his sister. That was just the easiest thing to say to the postmaster, instead of the truth that Leon and I share this weird secret magic connection" she said looking over the letters seeing if she could glean anything.

"Well," Brooke reports after a few minutes, "the good news is, it don't look like Yue's been kidnapped. Assumin' this is all true, which I guess we don't know for sure, but hell if I know why anyone'd send lies in a cryptic coded message. Bad news is, her da got me all worried for no good reason." She scowls. "I oughta give him a piece of my mind over that."

"Yes, this does seem a bit of a roundabout way to let your daughter's friends know she's safe. Though considering he is claiming to be Yue's true father. Some quirkiness might be expected. I do hope this letter is telling the truth. That Yue has a family better than that awful man that locked her up. However, we should probably go make sure for ourselves that this 'Shinobi' is a trustworthy person. If you're up for making a trip to Celadon tonight." she said looking over at Brooke.

Brooke snorts slightly at Leanne's comment about quirkiness. All right, so whatever game Leon's supposed kin might or might not be playing, she does know a bit about Yue. "Yeah. I reckon I am. You need to pack anything before you go?" Normally she wouldn't be so quick to spend a night on the road for no reason, but it'll be easier to keep an eye on Leanne in camp than it would be in town. She doesn't mean to let Rex out of her sight until Leon gets back.

"No I have everything I need on me, I can leave immediately. Do we need to wait for Alex or are we going ahead just the two of us?" she asked believing that Alex must have some sort of pressing matter if he wasn't with Brooke at the moment.

"Said he had something urgent to do. I'll leave a note for him so he knows he probably shouldn't worry." But that if she hasn't contacted him within forty-eight hours, he should worry. Brooke isn't about to hare off into the wilderness with a suspicious stranger to rendezvous with a different suspicious stranger in a city she's never been to without taking some precautions.
