Leanne nodded "Then let's head forward. Would you like me to walk ahead while we're traveling?" she asked half because she knew Brooke was a ranged fighter and would appreciate a buffer, and half as a gesture of good faith so Brooke could keep an eye on her at all times as they traveled.

Brooke and Leanne set out for Celadon Castle Town just as soon as they are able. It's a several-hour journey on foot, and by the time they reach the gate, it is well after nightfall. The guards on duty halt them at the gate, claiming that it is shut for the night.

"Please kind sirs, We were invited to the city on the whim of one of its residents. They did not inform us of any curfew on the gate. Could you please find it in your heart to let us in, or at least suggest a place where we could lodge for the evening?" Leanne asked putting on the biggest pair of puppy dog eyes she could.

The first guard seems to consider this a bit, but his superior quickly steps in.
"Afraid we're not to open the gates after nightfall. It's always been the law. After the sun sets, the gates remain closed to all. Even were it the Queen herself out here we'd not open it until dawn. Not our fault if you don't know the rules." He motions at the few, scattered camps about just off the road. "Might be you could shack up with some of those folks, or you could just camp for yourselves if you've not the will to walk back to Saffron this same night. Surely it breaks my heart to have to turn away two young ladies that're out by themselves at night, but rules are rules and the law is the law."

In place of puppy dog eyes, Brooke pulls out the temporary pass that'd been included with the letter and silently displays it to the guards.

The guardsman peers at the pass. "Seems legit, but it doesn't mean anything to me. Can't open the gate at night by the Queen's Decree."

Leanne nods a bit "I suppose we'll need to camp out here in that case, At first light will the gate open or will we need to wait for a specific time good sir?" she asked politely.

Brooke shrugs, not terribly bothered about the prospect of spending the night outdoors. Yue's family is almost certainly abed already, they aren't going to be meeting anyone tonight. "Alright then. You mind if we set up camp right over here?" She motions to a spot just off the road, maybe a dozen paces away from the gate.

Leanne looked back to Brooke and looked to where she was pointing "Will that spot be alright if I transform back?" Leon asked as Leanne thought 'Well I don't feel tired right now. If push comes to shove and I start feeling sleepy, I'll head off somewhere private once Brooke falls asleep' Leon made a small agreeable noise as Leanne nodded "That seems like it will work, we'll have a view of the gate so we'll know when it's open" she said.

"As soon as the dawn's first light touches the gate, we're to open it. If you're camping out here, you should know the time by when the others begin to move about. Camp wherever you like, so long as you're not in anybody's way." The guard explains.

"I'd take first watch," Brooke says once her sleeping bag is set up, "but with the guards right here, I figure we don't need a proper watch schedule. Gonna leave Sharp out just to be sure, though." She tells the Spearow, "Screech and start peckin' if anyone gets close. And keep an eye on Ribbons over there."

Leanne nodded laying against a tree setting Clefairy in her lap 'Clefairy can you let me know if I'm close to running out of energy? It looks like I'll need to pretend to be asleep until my watch' Leanne thought closing her eyes pinching her own thigh lightly to make sure she didn't fall asleep.

Clefairy acknowledges Leanne's request and lies down next to her to get some rest of her own for a bit.

Leanne waits for her watch, then for Brooke to fall asleep and Sharp to be distracted. Leaving Clefairy and Rex at the campsite to keep watch as she slipped off into the woods finding a secluded spot as she sat down leaning against a tree as she yawned finally letting herself fall asleep. Some hours later Leon awoke leaning against the tree 'I guess we share an energy reserve. If she falls asleep I'll be asleep too when she changes back.' he thought standing up making his way back to camp, sitting down in Leanne's spot and keeping an eye on the gate.

The first thing Brooke notices upon waking (a little later than normal; yesterday really took it out of her) is who showed up in the night. "Leon! Where'd you come from! Are you all right?" The second thing she notices is who isn't there. "Aw, hell, she slipped away! Sharp, you were s'posed to keep an eye on her!" The Spearow squawks... defensively? Complacently? She can't tell. "Yes it does matter, she had Rex with her, birdbrain!"

Leon smiled a bit "I'm alright, I'll vouch for what she's said so far. We've been kind of magically linked, but that same magic keeps us from being in the same place at the same time, which is why I had to wait for her to go to come back. When we're in a less busy place and we're not worried about Yue, Leanne and I will demonstrate so you can get a better understanding of what's happening," He said wanting to assuage her fears that some shyster had run off in the night.
"But thank you for worrying about me and watching out for Rex. I hope that dealing with Leanne wasn't too difficult," he said glad she cared about his pokemon's safety that much, waking the flame dog up who looked up at Brooke barking happily.

Brooke relaxes as she sees Rex. "Oh. Good. Guess she was tellin' the truth after all, then. After everything that happened yesterday, I didn't rightly know what to think. You really are okay? No more of those... I dunno what to call 'em. Fainting spells, I guess, only it looked like it hurt a lot more than fainting. Where'd you get up to yesterday? I couldn't find you anywhere."
Sharp raps her on the head. "Yes, yes, you did good, I'm sorry I called you a birdbrain."

"Yeah, I think that was caused by talking about...you-know-who. Right after I mentioned her I just got this increasingly bad headache until everything went dark. When I woke up, this Clefairy came to me, and let me know I had some new powers. Apparently, some people I used to know are trying to use her kind Fairy types to wipe out Dark Type pokemon like Rex. So I was given the powers to fight them. However, the power is supposed to be secret to most people so I needed to find a place I could be alone which I did in the Vermillion Plains, and that's where I learned about Leanne and our new arrangement. I was nearby but Leanne needed to be out at the moment. So I know what's going on, about this Shinobi person and is going to check on Yue." he explained motioning to Clefairy, having an expression that showed he understood it sounded pretty nuts but hoped she'd believe him.

"... sounds complicated," Brooke sums up. "I never heard of Fairy-types, but I reckon there's a lot I haven't heard of. So she filled you in on what we're doing here, huh? That's good, I..." She frowns. "Hang on. How'd she tell you what's going on with Yue if you can't be in the same place?" Unlike yesterday, she doesn't sound suspicious about the inconsistency, only puzzled.
