Leon walked up looking impressed "That was great Yue, not only were you able to get these little guys to let us through but were also able to get one to come along with you. You are quite the skilled young woman." he said smiling

Leon chuckled "If that's the case maybe you've got some sort sixth sense about this stuff. Would you like to keep leading us ahead? I've got a good feeling about it and we'll be right here if any trouble arises." he said motioning to himself, Alex and Brooke.

"Oh, in that case, we should catch up to him. Who knows what could be waiting for us here in this swamp. We don't want Alex facing something alone" Leon said heading off in the direction Yue pointed.

Seeing Alex run off into the darkness, Leon let out Rex pointing off toward his fleeing friend "Rex try to get to him." Leon said before making chase himself.

Rex speeds off after Alex, but very nearly trips when one of his paws gets stuck in a particularly nasty bit of goop. Leon stumbles a bit earlier, and Yue has similar problems. Yue's innate ability to see in the dark without a light reveals that there is nothing close enough to Alex she could have Poliwag knock over to slow him down or stop him. At least, not in time.
Alex, meanwhile, continues chasing after the lights until he is thoroughly lost. Alex has left the party.

Leon let Yue lead him on without any resistance, the girl seeming able to find her way around in the dark, Yue looked down at the girl "Yue, can you see any dry looking branches out of the muck?" he asked unable to search for something similar himself in the dark.

Yue guides Leon of to one of the dead trees. "W-Will these work?" She says, trying and failing to keep the panic out of her voice.

Leon felt the branches "Yes they're dry enough, give me a moment and we can keep moving." Leon said as Yue saw and Brooke heard him break off a good sized branch from the tree, then tear off a bit of cloth from both his sleeves wrapping it around the end. Leon knelt down slightly getting some muck putting it underneath the cloth on the stick to prevent the fire from spreading down to his hand.
Leon then held the makeshift torch out to Rex "Alright, light this up for me boy" he said as the fire dog, let out a bark shooting out a small spark that lit up the cloth. "Thanks, boy," Leon said petting Rex, before standing up "Alright we have light again. Now we just need to pick a direction. I think we should keep heading this direction. Alex should be around here somewhere." Leon said pointing towards the east.
With a second in the light of his torch, Leon had an epiphany "Alex still has my lantern, If Rex can follow my scent to it, we'll find Alex!" Leon said holding his arm out to Rex "Come on boy, try to find my scent." he said Rex taking a moment to sniff Leon getting his scent before trying to find a trace of it.

Rex sniffs his master, then sniffs about the ground, then the air, searching for a scent trail. After casting about some, he barks and bounds off towards the west-southwest. After a bit of a false start, Rex tries again. This time he's sure he's found the right path! He skirts past Point 9 and straight for the alcove at point 10. There, he (and shortly thereafter, the group) find a sleeping Alex surrounded by floating candles with purple flames. He seems alright, just asleep, but those candles seem... off. At the same time though, they seem so nice. A nice little light in the darkness of the swamp. It's so... comforting.

Rex ran into the alcove, barking at the lights, Leon following soon after both ready and alert until the light began to comfort them. The two trying to focus to stay awake. Rex managed to stay up, but Leon fell over asleep. Rex looked over at his sleeping master, worried nudging him a bit with his snout, before connecting his sleeping state to the lights, realizing his master needed to be up Rex sparked the back of Leon's shirt setting it on fire. When the flames touched his skin Leon jolted awake flipping over to put his shirt out in the muck.
(Rex Succeeds, Leon Fails, Rex does a minimum flame struggle on Leon to wake him up -9 HP from Leon after Defense)

Yue runs around trying to grab the pretty purple lights, while Bubbles shakes her head. Cuddles thinks it looks like fun and joins in, hoping up as high as she can to try and tackle the lights. Dukes and Cinnamon curl up next to each other take a nap.
