Even as Yue and Dukes fall asleep and Cuddles tries to catch the floating lights, Brooke and Sharp succumb to the sleep-inducing aura of these candles. Well this can't be good. So as it stands, it seems like Leon, Bubbles and Rex are the only ones capable of fighting the spectral candles and thereby forcing whatever it is they're doing to stop. Will you attack?

Leon watched as the Candle's flew off, taking a moment to collect the 2 balls he used to capture 2 of them, and picking up Rex getting him out of the muck. He went to each of his friends, shaking them a bit to get them up. Leon started with Alex handing him the injured Rex "Can you help him? He took a beating in a fight we just had." Leon said before moving on to Yue next when she got up he asked "Yue can you watch around us. I can't see well in the dark, but I think we need to take a rest." he said motioning to the unconscious Rex. Finally, Leon woke up Brooke before looking to all 3 of them.
"Those Litwick's laid all 3 of you out, I managed to scare them off and captured a couple of them. If you don't mind I'd like to take a moment to rest before we move on," he said before finding a dry place to sit down, catching his breath.

"Don't mind at all," Brooke muttered, rubbing her head. "Whoof. Whatever those things hit us with really took it out of me. Litwick, you said? What are they?"
She reached out to pick up Sharp, ruffling his feathers to wake him. This earned a sleepy cheep of complaint.

Yue tugs on Leon's sleeve. "Can I have one of those Litwicks? I'll trade you Puff for it."

Leon let out one of the Litwick's to show Brooke, when Yue tugged on his sleeve, after hearing her request Leon smiled "Sure Yue, I caught two so you can have this one." he said handing her the ball for the Litwick floating around them at the moment.

Almost immediately after the captured litwick emerges from its ball, the party begins to feel drowsy once again. It's far less potent with just one around vs a large group, but it's definitely noticeable. A quick recall stops that though.

Leon felt that shuddering, after quickly returning the pokemon, he handed the ball to Yue "Here, you can still have her, but please keep her in her ball for the moment. She has trouble controlling what's causing that drowsy feeling." he said.

"Yay! Thank you, Leon-nii-chan!" Yue says, hugging him. She snatches the Litwick's ball and gives him Puff's ball. She rubs her cheek against the pokeball. "I'll call you Hearth!"

Alex was roused from his long slumber with a splitting headache. He couldn't remember anything from a short time after they had befriended the poliwag until now. At Leon's shaking, he took the injured Rex into his arms. The dog was out cold, but breathing. 'That's a good sign' He thought as he went to checking the dog. Still reeling from the headache, he wasn't moving as fast, but he instinctively knew what to do and how it needed to go without thinking too much. He pulled out his first aid kit and began working on Rex.
"I'll be honest guys, I have no idea where we are right now. I think I blacked out. I remember befriending that Poliwag and then...nothing. Nothing until now. I feel like I'm to blame here. All I know right now is that I'm beat, I was asleep sure, but I don't think that was a normal nap. I feel more tired than when I started. We can't go much further without stopping for a break. Leon looks a little singed, Rex is coming around slowly, but needs a rest. Can we take a small break?" Alex asked the group in general. He knew it would be tough going, but this was tougher than he imagined right at the moment.
(Alex uses First Aid Expertise on Rex. Rex is full health, cleared of all status effects, and cleared of one injury.)

"Nii-chan? What does that mean?" Leon asked curiously hugging the girl back slightly, getting more comfortable with her clinginess, "Anyway with Hearth, you should be fine around her once we find some Cleanse Tags. It stops her from draining your spirit and making you feel tired." he explained. Leon nodded to Alex's request for a break "That's what I was hoping for." he said smiling a bit as Rex raised his head slightly after Alex's healing licking his cheek gratefully,

"You ran off after that," Brooke told Alex. "We lost you for a bit, couldn't catch up without the light; had to have Rex follow yer scent. I'd give you a talking-to about running off by yourself in a strange place, but it sounds like something funny was goin' on. Leon, could these Litwick have done that? Hypnotized Alex or what-have-you?"

Leon smiled a bit"Older Brother? So I've been promoted from Butler?" he said teasingly, but the others could tell he was actually quite happy to be called that. Looking over to Brooke when she asked her question, Leon nodded "Oh most definitely, you hear stories about them in places like this, most people call them will-o'-the-wisps. Something about their light is just entrancing. Calls people to them, these ones were most likely just hanging around when Alex got entranced, then when he started chasing them they either ran from him or thought he was playing a game. Since they didn't seem too aggressive," Leon explained.

"Oh good. Mind altering, playful tricksters that can't control themselves. And I just happened to chance across them. I'm letting you guys choose where to go from now on." He said still clutching at his head. The headache was subsiding, but he was still tired. Leon was tired. "So, about that rest, do you guys wanna help me set up a small camp? Somewhere without the playful will o wisps hopefully?" He said looking around for more.

"How about over this way?" Leon said standing up pointing into the darkness, "We came from this way so it should be safe." he said waiting a moment till he knew everybody was with him. Then started heading forward, not realizing he had the angle slightly wrong, heading toward the northeast instead of directly east.

While wandering through the swamp, Alex finds a few interesting-looking plants to get samples of for Grass Branch. No berries though it seems.

After the last lobster fell, Alex looked happy as well as a bit sad. They went through a fight mostly well, except for poor Leaf who got a bit banged up. On the other hand, Leon, didn't get a chance to catch one. Alex walked over to him and simply said, "Look Leon, you told me this thing turns into a dark type right? Even though you didn't catch one, I'd like you to have this one. I have Squirt so she really needs a better home. I hope D'Mara counts it as completing the mission even though you weren't the one to throw the apricorn. Without your help though, we'd be in real trouble with those candles still." As he finishes, he extends his arm with the Corphish's ball in hand. He hoped Leon would accept a handout, and provide the Corphish a good home.

Leon realized what he had done the moment the last Corphish fell, thinking that he had just sunk his chance to complete the mission when Alex walked up and offered one to him. Leon smiled taking the ball "Sure I'll take it Alex. Thank you, but here," he said putting another ball into his outstretched hand "You have this Litwick, It's the same case that you have. Rex already covers what this little ghost could and I only caught her to protect you guys. I'm sure you can give her a better home then I could in the long run." he said hooking the Corphish's ball to his belt where the Litwick had been.

"Thanks Leon, She'll be a definite benefit to the team. That is...if I don't fall under her spell again. We'll have to work that out." Alex says looking at the ball. He felt a cold shiver run down his spine at the thought of now having one of the tricksters on his team. He wasn't sure if he'd have the willpower to resist. Maybe he'll keep her in the ball for now until he gets a better handle on that power of hers.
