Ah yes, the fear of abandonment rang through this spirit. He had hoped his action to restrain the Elekid would have won the spirit over, but of course it couldn't be that easy. How could he tell the spirit he meant well? Mere words would most likely fall flat. It had already been abandoned once, and words could only do so much. Plus, Quill couldn't be sure how effective he was with communicating with ghosts. Sure he got along well with Angel, but he didn't know how much of it was his own skill, or her amusement. Speaking of which, Quill felt an all too familiar thunk to his head. Spinning around he saw Angel's devilish grin, which turned into a cackle. He was a little annoyed, but a spark of inspiration hit him. Much like the stump of a Phantump. "You may have had some bad experiences with humans. But we're not all bad." Quill said, rubbing Angel's stump. "Just ask Angel here. I don't mean to brag, but I'm a pretty awesome friend."And with that he ushered his Phantump over to the Shuppet, trusting she would put in a good word for him. Sawyl kept up a confident grin in the face of the Carvanha's glares, though it probably helps that they're not directed at him. "Come on, Davy, we can deal with these two ruffians. Get 'em!"Davy clacks his pincers again and hops into the water, hurling himself at one of the Carvanha. For all Sawyl calls them ruffians, Davy isn't exactly much nicer, snapping his claws at the Carvanha to try and get a grip on its jagged scales. Same actions from Sawyl as last round - Shift to activate Flutter (+3 Eva, can't be flanked), Standard to use Inspired Training on Davy (Corphish gets +1 Eva and +2 to Save Checks). Davy uses Vicegrip on the Carvanha with 10 Initiative. eh7lEXbt1d20 vs AC 2; 2d6+21 Physical Normal-type damage. 1d20·2d6+21

Davy snaps his claws at the Carvahna but can't manage to get a grip on it. The Carvhana each begin glowing with a red energy. They open their eyes to reveal their eyes have gone red and they are entirely focused on Davy and Sawyl. The Carvahna have each used Focus Energy. Both Critical Ranges have extended from 20 to 17-20. The Magikarp keeps hiding from the terrifying Carvahna.

Sawyl swallows hard. Okay, that is a very worrying set of glares. "Okay, button up, Davy. These two look like they mean business. Harden!""Corph!" Davy raises his claws to protect his vulnerable face with the hard carapace, and darts from side to side confusingly, mimicking the swashbuckling moves of Sawyl's beloved piratical stories, the same ones that inspired his hat. Sawyl maintains his parrying stance; if the Carvanha decide to jump out of the water after him, he wants to be able to defend himself without exposing the cowering Magikarp to too much harm. Sawyl Flutters and uses Inspired Training once again! Davy uses Harden (+1 Defense CS) and activates his Adorable Fashion to get +2 Evasion for a full round (for a grand total of +3).

The two Carvhana realize you're going on the defensive and decide to go on the offense. One Carvhana jumps out of the water and attempts to bite down on Davy. The other throws a glare his way, Carvahna with 10 initiative attempts a Bite attack. fqX6QNBn1-20 vs. AC 2 1-8 1-8+10+2 =21 Dark-Type Damage
Carvahna with 9 initiative uses Leer.

Davy lets out a hiss as the Carvanha's teeth scrape on his carapace. They don't do that much damage, but they certainly hurt, and Davy flinches back from the attack, too rattled to strike back. "Come on, then! Why don't you pick on someone more your own speed?" Sawyl lunges at the Carvanha not so closely engaged with Davy, jabbing at the aggressive fish with his rapier to try and draw some of its attention away from Davy. Sawyl's strike rings true and the Carvahna moves back a little from the blow. They both take notice of you and the Magikarp. One of the Carvahna turns bright red and steam begins to pour out of it's ears. It launches itself at Sawyl. The second Carvahna attempts to bite Davy again. Drawing attention to himself might have been a mistake - but then, when can Sawyl ever resist a chance to be the center of attention? He avoids the Carvanha's charge nimbly, blocking it and turning it aside like it was a rival's oncoming sword. Intending to add injury to insult, he slashes at it once more, but the blow goes wild and his blade skates off the Carvanha's scales. "Come on, Davy! Get it! Vice Grip, then get it away!"Meanwhile, Davy is looking a little the worse for wear, his carapace cracked in a few places under his opponent's powerful jaws. He doesn't get discouraged, though, and his claws snap grimly at the Carvanha facing him, doing his best to deal a bit of real damage to his opponent. Then he plops back into the reservoir, trying to separate the pair of Carvanha from each other by luring one away. Sawyl's Shift: Flutter Sawyl's Standard: Struggle Attack on Carvanha 11. The second Carvanha is nailed by Davy's powerful Grip and is crushed. The Carvahna faints and falls into the water. Davy is harmed by the tough skin the Carvanha had however. The first Carvhana takes quite the blow from Sawyl's sword but does not faint like the other Carvhana. This Carvhana attempts to bite Davy as he heads into the Water. Rough Skin: Davy loses 1/10th his max HP. Second Carvahna faints!

The Carvanha's thrashing as it faints and its abrasive scales scrape up Davy a bit more. This is definitely a tougher fight than Sawyl anticipated, but they can't stop now. Luckily, Davy's tough shell still holds up well enough to keep the remaining Carvanha's teeth from making an impact. And now it's two against one. Sawyl lunges after the Carvanha - fancy clothes or not, one thing Sawyl isn't the least bit afraid of is getting wet - and stabs at it with his sword again from behind. "Come on, Davy, I know you can do it! Vice Grip!" On the Carvanha's other side, Davy turns to catch it in his powerful grip, clashing his claws in its face. Sawyl has to hope they can take it down quickly between them - otherwise it may be curtains for Davy without another lucky dodge. The final Carvahana falls unconscious in the water. The Magikarp jumps into the water and splashes happily. Carvahna faints!

It's about at this point that Sawyl realizes he could probably have ended the fight faster if he'd caught one of the Carvanha. He'll have to keep in mind that they're around here... maybe he'll get a chance for a rematch. In the meantime, he crouches down to examine Davy, wincing at the damage the Corphish took, and pulls out a Potion to try and deal with some of the injuries. "That was a little closer than I hoped. Sorry, matey. It'll be worth it, though." I hope. "Anyway, we took down both of them! Not a bad day's work."Next order of business: the Magikarp he went through all this trouble for. Dragon King of the River, Dragon King of the River. Just keep saying it. Magikarp grow into Gyarados eventually, it'll be worth it. It had better be worth it. He looks down into the reservoir with a winning smile. "So! Little rougher than we expected, but we got you here, right? You know, I'll bet if you joined up with us, you could learn to deal with bullies like them, too! I'm going to be one of the Seven Knights someday, you know. I'll need strong Pokémon by my side. "Perfect! You won't regret it, I promise!" Sawyl smiles as he opens his portal, inviting the Magikarp inside. What'd be nice is if I managed to catch something besides a Magikarp with a limp fin. I had that big battle and Davy being beaten up is the only proof I have, and now it's getting late. Maybe Magikarp can put in a good word for me. I wonder if it's true what they said about the Elder being able to talk to Pokémon...
He rubs Davy's head gently. "You should get in there, too. Get some rest, matey." If he somehow manages to run into an ornery Pokémon on the way back, he'll just have to deal with it himself. In between deciding what to name the Magikarp.

Sawyl heads back to the center of the courtyard with no dangerous instance between where he was and his destination. Oswald is standing there, waiting for Sawyl and the other future Knights to get back.

Bryant let out a heavy sigh when the Elekid stepped into the portal. He had a feeling his new companion would be a troublemaker and that he'd have to teach the electric-type how to work in groups and restrain himself.
"Well, now that that's done how about we rendezvous with the others? I might need to spend some extra time teaching my Elekid his place, by the looks of it" he told Quill.

"Oh, hello, Bryant!" Sawyl's looking more than a little ruffled after that fight, even if he doesn't seem to have been personally roughed up too much. "I wasn't expecting to be the first one back. Had a bit of an adventure, though I'm afraid poor Davy took the brunt of it. I'd be careful about going for a swim around here, if I were you; it turns out they have a bit of a Carvanha problem."
He hasn't been talking Oswald's ear off too much, yet. Telling stories is one thing, but Sawyl doesn't like repeating them too often - people start to pick holes in the logic.

Well, I suppose you'll need a name...I think Merlin should be perfect for such a calm, peaceful Pokemon!" Rinka happily puts his portal into his satchel, along with Caliber, and begins to jog back to where the group split up. Upon seeing three of his allies already there, he waved to them. "Hello everyone! I suppose you all successfully caught new Pokemon as well?"
