Haruka faltered slightly as her guiding light faded out of view. What was she going to do now? Her jog died back into a walk as she thought furiously. Well, if she was going to use that light as a lead... she might as well follow through. The best thing to do was to just... keep going in that direction and hope to run into something. Even though it was getting dark, she could still hear after all.
As she got closer to where she saw the light, she heard... movement? A lot of it too. It sounded like... a group of people, or pokemon, running through the brush. It was... really loud, so it was probably one of her traveling companions! That was a good sign, at least she wouldn't be both alone and hopelessly lost. She ran toward the source of the noise only for it to cut out completely, causing her slow down once again. Did... something happen? Her footsteps slowed to a halt once again as she felt a sinking feeling in her stomach. Now she had no idea where she was in relation to that clearing they had split up from and there was possibly something that might attack her nearby. That... wasn't good. She felt a little hopeless for a brief moment before a sudden rush of movement surprised her. A large figure crashed into her, causing her to flail wildly as she toppled over backward.
Haruka let out a yelp as she landed hard on her rear end, causing her glasses to become askew. She hurriedly readjusted them before looking up at the source of the impact. "... Dean? Oh thank goodness! I thought I was going to get lost out here. I um... sorry for running into you so literally." She glanced around for the third member of their group and found she was not with him, "Is Erica with you? Do you know where she is?"

When the Faintrick starts picking up the pace and stops moving around in a chaotic way, Dean is sure his plan had worked. Now all that's left is follow the creature to it's lair. While picking up the pace slightly to compensate for the sprint the Pokémon was taking. Within moments a giant oak tree showed up a couple of hundred yards away. He had a sneaking suspicion this could well be the hide-out they were after. His heart racing, Dean still tries to follow without being seen.
With his eyes peeled on the Pokémon in front of him, Dean is surprised as all of a sudden someone crashes into him. Still on his feet, he looks down to find Haruka on the floor.
"are you okay? No need to worry, we're able to track each others locations through the pokédex. We'll find her soon enough. Now's not the time though, I'm following that Faintrick to their hideout, guess it's that massive Oak tree up ahead. Let's keep our voices down and follow it. They are not getting away with stealing our stuff"
He extends a hand to help Haruka get off the floor before immediately taking off after the thieving Faintrick. "Now let's get our stuff back"

Taking Dean's offered hand, Haruka managed to pull herself back up. She brushed at her hands which had been scraped slightly, to shake all the dirt off of them before she replied, "Ah, yes, I'm fine. Just a little scraped. It was mostly my fault for not really looking where I was going." She readjusted her glasses once again before becoming pensive, "Huh... Really? I didn't know that you could do that with the pokedexes. Though... I suppose that isn't too surprising."
She glanced round the area as if looking for Erica despite knowing she probably wasn't anywhere nearby, "... Well... I'd prefer we found Erica first since we know where they're hiding out now... We don't really know how many things are in there and more people on our side can only be good, but... I also want to help you get your things back at the very least and those things need to be taught a lesson that stealing is bad. Though... I managed to knock out the one that took my pokedex and get it back, so... it's only your and Erica's things that have been taken... As well as probably many things from other people I can imagine..."

The duo of trainers march towards the large tree in the remaining rays of sunlight, unaware that Erica's following them in the shadows. The group moves together, the small crocoal the only pokémon accompanying the trainers, and as soon as they approach the great oak, two things become quite clear: First, they are definitely in the correct place. Looking at the treetop, a dozen pairs of eyes shine in the dusk looking down on the trainers. There's also a lack of movement, as the faintrick try not to draw much attention to themselves as they watch the group behind the foliage. Second, there's a large hole in the trunk about 4 feet high, and a light glow seems to come from inside, showing quite a large space inside. Perception DC 8There's quite a few pokémon on the tree. With a quick count, you can see about 20 or 30 faintrick up there.

Their destination reached, Haruka slowed to a stop as she took in the situation. Despite the darkness, the pairs of eyes were easy enough to spot and count... 1, 2, 3... 21, 22, 23... She could be wrong but... an amount of those things anywhere close to 20 was still way too much for them to take on. Even if Erica was around, it still would be... difficult if not impossible to win in a direct fight with that many creatures. "Dean?" she asked in a hushed tone, "... I don't think a direct method will work here. Fighting all of them at once with what we have doesn't seem... likely to result in a win. Maybe we can just ask for our things back with a promise that we'll leave them alone afterward? They don't seem to like direct fights... I want to teach them a lesson too, but... this seems unwise."
The only other solution she could really think of would be to scare them off or maybe set the tree they were on aflame, but... both of those had caveats. She didn't think any of the people in her group had a way to be scary in a way that would frighten a large group of pokemon like that off. And setting the tree on fire would probably have a lot of collateral damage and destroy anything that they had stored in the tree...

When Dean and Haruka reach the oak tree Dean let's out a quick 'wow!' Checking the tree for the Faintrik he easily spots a couple dozen of the pokémon among the foliage. He takes another good look at the tree and sees light coming from a big hole in the trunk. That must be the place where they keep their loot. Trying to come up with a plan he remembers a similar situation back in Hoenn, where a group of poochyena were causing trouble to travelers in the petalburg Woods. When he remembers how that situation played out he starts to form a plan and faces Haruka.
"Well this was unexpected. I didn't think there would be this many of them. Whatever we decide to do, taking them all on is not an option. I've seen this before though and I have an idea, but you're going to have to trust me on this okay? What I think we should do is step out and challenge their leader for our stuff. If we beat him and show them stealing is not the answer, we could end this without any harm coming to us or most of them. What do you say Haruka?"
Dean looks at the bespectacled girl expectingly, hoping that this would be the first time since they'd met that she'd agree with him.

Haruka listened to Dean's idea before she considered it, biting her lip. It... might work? She still had some reservations about it though... "... That... maybe it'll work? The only problem... I don't think these pokemon are the honorable type to begin with. Even if you can get them to agree to that sort of challenge, I think we'll have to keep a close eye on them so they don't do something underhanded. And even if we do win... I could easily see them reneging on the deal somehow. Though... they do seem fairly cowardly so a show of force like that might cow them..."
Haruka shrugged, "... My ideas have worse problems with them so you might as well give it a try at the very least.

"Okay, let's do this then" Dean says while slowly approaching the ancient tree. "Just make sure you and Kasai are able to give some backup in case anything funny happens."
Slowly moving forward, Dean grabs Sentinels pokéball and holds it tight. Even though they had been together for only a couple of hours, Dean was absolutely sure that his partner would have his back. From what he'd seen so far his Iguard was tough, strong and above all else fearless. Tension was clearly written on his face and even his movement felt a little jittery, but when he was close enough to be heard by the pokémon his voice was crystal clear.
"My name is Dean Masterson from Lavaridge Town. You took something from my friends and me and I'm here to take it back. To me, you are nothing but a bunch of cowards, tricking people and stealing. Where is the honor in that?"
Dean spits on the ground for emphasis, trying his best to look as intimidating as possible, fully aware he lacks both the build and the deep voice to help him out in that regard.
"I Deamand to see your leader. Face me and my partner in battle if you're not too much of a coward".

Erica was following, listening in the whole time. She wanted to make sure it was Dean and Haruka before she actually joined them, but she had an inkling that staying hidden was better. After all, if some of this group of Faintrick decided to round the back and follow Dean and Haruka, she'd have first crack at them. But as she listens, she shakes her head.
Seriously, Dean. 'Oh hey pokedexes can track people, but if Erica is paniking and alone... let's leave her for a while and undermine her by saving her pokemon!' I'll friggin remember that...
Now she's stealthing with her 'captive' mostly out of spite. At least Haruka seemed to care. Thanks, Haruka. As they approach the oak, Erica nudges her Faintrick to come with her off to the side, so she can see everything. And then she hears and sees Dean implement his plan. Erica facepalms.
You ain't a knight, dean. And this is literally a den of thieves! A human knight vs human thieves would still end like how I assume this will. But... if he can keep them distracted...
Erica sets down her pack, and rummages through it, until she finds her single repel. She then takes out Pluc's pokeball, and takes off the case she had on it, and replaces it with a Spray case! [For referrence, as it'll be needed in the future, I think: Gapic - Flash Case, Pluc - Spray Case, Faintrick - Lock Case] She holds out the repel.
Haven't needed one of these suckers in a long time. They tend to only work on small fry pokes that people got, which seemed less and less as time passed. But... well we are in a small fry zone afterall...
She fills the Spray Case with the Repel. She's only got one shot at this, so she waits and bides her time. If Dean keeps them distracted, she can nail the hole their stuff is in, cover that thing with Repel, and get up there herself and grab everything. They'll be too annoyed at the smell to come near. Getting away is going to be an issue, but they seem a little skittish. Distance might be all they need.
She waits for a reaction to Dean's challenge.

Dean steps up and utters a challenge, looking up to the pokémon and expecting their answer. But the only thing he gets in return is silence. The faintrick actually seem to cower more, many visibly shrinking behind branches and foliage to hide. The only reaction his bravado gets is the light glow inside the hole pulsates a bit, almost as if the light itself was alive. Well, at least that's all Dean and Haruka see. Erica is privileged to notice her own faintrick also react to the request, the possum pokémon slightly getting closer to her trainer with a nervous look. Pokémon Education DC 10 or Intuition DC 8Given the behavior of the faintrick up on the tree, it's clear they do not want to fight. They might defend themselves if attacked, but cowardice is clearly at their core. However, it's hard to assume they wouldn't have something like an alpha, given how social they are.

When his challenge goes unanswered, Dean can't help but get a little bit agitated at the cowardly pokémon. He turns back to Haruka and shrugs.
"This isn't working. We need to come up with another plan. Any suggestions?"
He did see the light inside of the trunk grow a bit brighter as he spoke to the group of Fsintrick, but he had no idea what it was. Curiosity was starting to get the better of him as he tries to wait what his companion had to say.

Haruka observed the situation a few feet behind Dean. As time went on, and the things didn't react, Haruka knew that Dean's challenge had not worked. She let out a sigh, she hadn't really expected something like that to work, but... it would've been nice if it had. Now onto things that had a chance to cause... bad things. She muttered a few words to Kasai as Dean asked her for ideas. "I... think I might have one. Let me try something. It might be a bit risky but... they seem pretty averse to fighting so it might work."
With that, Haruka stepped forward to take Dean's place. Hmm... would being scary the whole time work or should she talk in a nice tone to contrast the rest of her words? She wasn't sure she could pull of scary the whole time so... she started speaking with a deceptively sweet tone, "Hmm... you don't want to fight do you? Well, we'll leave you alone if you give us our things back. Just pass over whatever you stole from my friends... and we'll walk away. Easy, right? Otherwise..." She let the sentence trail off deliberately as she made an exaggerated thinking pose before continuing to speak. "Well, that's a nice home you have there, that tree. It'd be a shame if it... burned down," her tone swung over to vicious in the last two words as she adjusted her glasses to make the light reflect off of them in a way that blocked view of her eyes. She made a gesture to Kasai, who started letting flame build in the back of his throat, a orange-red glow emitting from his open mouth. "It seems like it'd be pretty easy to do. So I'd hand over the stuff if you want to keep your home," she stated in a matter of fact manner, trying to sound a bit flippant. Hopefully she pulled it off in a way to make them hand over their stuff, they had to value safety over some random trinkets that wouldn't be of much use to them, right?

Well that didn't work. Erica puts a hand on her capture to calm it down. She whispers to it.
"He ain't all that, don't worry."
As she looks back up, Haruka is threatening to burn the tree down.
Damn girl, you don't need to go that far. Guess it's up to me...
Erica readies the spray ball, hoping to aim just below the hole and let the repel loose. Then maybe she can get in there and nab everything, and they'll be too repeled to do anything and too cowardly to chase them.
She steps out from the brush and let's Pluc's ball fly into the tree!

Haruka steps up and gives her own proposition to the faintrick band and just like before, no answer comes from the pokémon at first. Once she threatens them a bit with Kasai's help, the reaction is a bit more noticeable, with many of them shivering in fear and a few even whimpering a bit. Despite that, none of them move from their branches. That is until Erica's ball comes flying from nowhere. The pokéball falls in a low arch, hitting the base of the whole before bouncing out. Gapic appears in a flash as the gas is sprayed, flying a little back to avoid the obnoxious smell. This causes a great commotion among the faintrick, and many of them shriek and get agitated, branches moving everywhere and making leaves fall to the ground. Despite the chaos and loud sounds, however, they all remain up in the tree. One other pokémon moves, though. Out of the hole in the tree, now drenched in Erica's repel, a bug comes crawling out. Its lilac skin is glowing lightly, but the end of its tail shines in a bright pulsating light. It seems to be trying to move out of the repellant's reach, dragging itself quickly around the large trunk, ignoring the shrieks from above. If you scan the glowing bug

Erica watches the chaos unfold with a smile on her face.
Excellent.
She recalls her own little captive and yells out to Gapic as she passes to watch out for her. She hopes they'll all stay away, and it seems that's the case. She heads to the tree, noting the glowing bug. She's tempted to catch it but the repel won't last forever. Priorities, afterall.
Erica tries her best to make her way to the opening, hoping that the goods are in there.

Dean is shaken by the sudden flash, but regains his composure as soon as he here's Erica is the source of the ruckus. When the pokémon exits the trunk of the tree the young trainer smiles a cheshire smile. He knew bug pokémon were good early captures. Especially since they evolve quickly. He also thinks the light from it's tail might be a good tool to help him catch other pokémon. And so it was decided, he really wanted to catch this pokémon.
He releases Sentinel in front of the creature and grabs the pokéball with the lockcase from his bag. There was no room for error here, it needs to be a one hit capture so no one can but in.
"Allright Sentinel, hit it with your pound attack"
At his trainer's command, the Iguard sprints forward, shield in front of him like a battering ram. He barrels into the worm pokémon with his shield. Wasting no time, Dean takes aim and lets the pokéball fly.

Sentinel advances as Dean orders, the small fleeing worm as the target. When the iguard approaches the trunk, the shrieks above increase in pitch and volume, warnings of all kinds, but he perseveres. As soon as his shield hits the cresclo, Dean's pokéball comes flying and barely hits it in the tail, sucking the poor worm inside. The device pings before even hitting the ground. Erica takes advantage of the situation to hurry to the whole, her mind focused on the loot inside. She easily climbs through, but as soon as she takes her flashlight to take a peek inside, glad to see a small trove of items, a loud thump comes from behind her as one of the faintrick finally abandons the safety of the branches, quickly followed by two more. While the two faintrick that fell last are basically equal to the ones the group has seen so far, the one who takes the lead is some kind of alpha. It's a bit larger and it has a scar on its chest, and it growls as soon as it's on its feet, its eyes focused on the trainer by the hole. DeanYou captured a Cresclo! Level: 6 Gender: Female Ability: Insomnia Nature: Curious Egg Move: Confuse Ray It has lost 25HP and has 2 injuries. You can distribute its stats as you wish. You can also pick one Egg Move to add to its Inheritance List, to be learned at a level corresponding to the September Playtest. Notice that, despite being a [Scene x2] Move, Confuse Ray is an Egg Move it already knows. ActionsErica, Pluc, Haruka and Kasai move before the enemies. Here's the map. Erica can see a lot of things inside the hole, from pokéballs to pieces of junk. If she wants to rummage through it all and get useful items mid-battle, she must spend a full action to get 3 items or a standard action to get 1. There's a total of 8 useful items inside, including what has been stolen. You'll recover them from newest (your stuff) to oldest.

Seing Dean go after the cool glowing bug deflates her a little, but hey she can't get all the pokemon afterall. As she climbs inside and spies all the loot, she hears some Faintrick dropping down. Crap.Erica goes to nab what she can before this turns topsy turvy, and gathers as much as she can, making her bug back as a priority. As she stuffs the loot into her bag, she hopes Pluc can help the others keep those Faintrick away until she gets everything out of the trunk so they can run outta there! She's not up for fighting everything here. After last time, Pluc has more or less learned 'Hey maybe don't go straight into the pile of enemies!' She takes a couple of steps back and unleashes a screeching blast at the 'alpha' one to get it to back off. Erica goes full action to nab 3 items

Dean quickly scoops up the pokéball from the floor and pockets it immediately. With some of the faintrick threatening to hurt Pluck and Erica, Dean turns his attention to the group. The one in the middle looked a bit more dangerous then the other two Faintrick and Silently Dean hoped for a bit more of an interesting fight. Gauging from the scar on it's chest, this one at least had seen some battles.
"Ok Sentinel, let's keep this momentum going. Our new is target is that large Faintrick in the middle. I want you to try out your rough swipe on him".
Iguard nods and dashes towards the Lead Faintrick. When he pulls one of his claws back, the tips take on a light green tinge before swiping at his foe.

Haruka stayed still as she waited for a response from the horde of pokemon in the tree. And waited... Aaaaaand waited. Her nose wrinkled somewhat, that didn't get a reaction? Was she not trying hard enough? Maybe she should have Kasai burn something for emphasis... or did they not care that much about the tree? She pondered the next course of action, maybe she should- Then suddenly a flash of light interrupted Haruka's thoughts, causing her to let out a yelp as she stumbled away from the source of it. Then, the appearance of a familiar looking bird made Haruka turn her head just in time to see Erica dash past her and stick her hand into the glowing space in the tree. Too shocked to react much, she stood there as a strange bug appeared then disappeared as Dean caught it. Well... she guessed she wouldn't have been that into it anyway... Haruka finally snapped out of her shock as the creatures finally abandoned their perch in the tree. Oh no, they were going after Erica! Kasai had better intervene before they attack her while she was getting back their stuff... Ooh, they were nicely grouped together... "Kasai, Coal Scatter! Focus on that mean looking one, maybe if we beat that one, the rest of them will leave us alone!" she commanded as she went into her usual stance to work her abilities. She focused, reciting the usual chant before she shouted out, "Reflect!" and clapped twice, causing a brief shimmer in the air around her and her teammates. Targeting the big one and the one on I6 with Coal Scatter in case it wasn't clear
