Erica stops when he hears someone rush after her. She turns and sighs, before holding out her hand to stop Dean.
"Dude, don't even. Trust me, I ain't worth it. Turn your butt right back around."
She continues to head out before waiting for an answer.

"Come on Erica, don't say that. You were right in there and she had no right to call you out while she doesn't even know you".
He slowed down and tried to get next to her before continuing.
"Not that I know you for that matter, but I sure would love to GET to know you. Let's just say this has been a bit of a rocky start for us as a group, but if I'm being completely honest here: I'm sick of Always being on my own. I did my last journey all by myself, but I've had more fun on these last two days as my entire time in Hoenn. Honestly, I really like being around you Erica, and Haruka too for that matter. Why don't we just find a way to work and travel together without wanting to scratch each other's faces off?"
Dean slows down, hoping Erica will do the same.
"I get it if you want to be by yourself for a bit, I can leave if you want. But....I'm not giving up on us just yet and I hope you'll do the same"

Erica turns to Dean and sighs.
"Dude, I 'will' blind you."
She stops and rubs her temple.
"Look, her words didn't affect me, ok? I have skin made out of concrete at this point. But stop getting all after school special on me, ok? It's throwing me off."
She thinks for a moment.
"Ok look, it's not like I dislike either of you. But people don't change. This is the way I've done things, and I'm not stopping. And that goes for her too. I don't expect her to change her worldview just to tolerate me. So if it'll cause tension, I don't have to be around. Pretty damn simple."
Erica steps back.
"And now I'm taking a step away to work while Pluc and Pulap get healed. Then I'll meet you both for the Professor, alright? Dang."
She goes to step off.

Dean decides to give Erica the space she needs, but not before giving it one more shot.
"Hate to say this, but you're wrong. People can change. Just show her that you do care about other things then making money. I don't know, maybe just talk to her and you guys might actually find out neither of you are that bad."
After his last couple of words directed at Erica, Dean heads back inside the pokémon center. He'll just take a seat somewhere and will wait for his pokémon to return from healing. In the meantime he'll skim his book and dex to see what else he could find out about the ranch in town.

Erica just shakes her head again and walks off somewhere secluded where she can work herself. She lays out her parts on a blanket on the ground, and begins to work on building a new case. She was thinking about doing two, but decides to hold off. Keeping something for her new 'apprentice' she may have picked up. Unless she gets money in between now and then, that is. She sits down, starting to build the base of the item, and this time trying a trick she learned. Although the one she saw the person try online had some sort of rubber material that bounced maybe like a foot. So she's trying a spring loaded system behind each case plate. Hopefully an impact will let loose each spring-loaded plate to bounce off. She can use this to position her pokemon even better in combat. Hopefully this will at least give her some sort of case in league combat. It ain't doing anything to either party, so hey maybe?
As she works she thinks. Should she say anything to Haruka? It's not like she was in the wrong... but was Dean right?
Eh, we'll deal with it later.
Once done with her bounce case, she pockets it and heads back to the center to pick up her pokemon before heading to the meeting location.

Haruka listened to Erica's short defense before she thought of a response to it. It wasn't the item she was blaming, power wasn't something that was inherently good or bad, it was what you did with it. She was blaming the salesman who gave people of questionable morals the sort of power they didn't need. And it didn't matter if there were other ways to abuse pokemon, this was still giving tools with which to do it. But before she could think of a way to word it, the girl left the pokemon center. Haruka watched her go with a stony face. If she didn't want to confront her own actions, then... fine. She was just trying to hide her own guilt with whatever front she was putting up and when she pointed out the implications of her actions, she couldn't handle it. That's all it was. But... what if she had...?
Haruka's rocky expression cracked into a grimace as she considered what she had just said. She... definitely thought she had a valid point but... had she gone too far? Maybe she had just been a bit too hasty in her judgement. So consumed in her thoughts, she didn't notice Dean walk up to her until he started talking. She was a bit taken aback by his vehemence, "I-I just thought..." she stammered as he continued. "No! I don't think I'm- I don't care about the battle! I care about-" she managed to get out before Dean stormed away. She stared after him in bemusement as her stomach began to sink. Where had the whole interfering with battle thing come from? She didn't think she mentioned anything like that while talking to either of them. Did... Dean hold her using her charms in the pokemon battle against her? She was just trying to help! Maybe they weren't valid for a usual trainer battle, but this was a special case!
Though his last statement about Erica confirmed her doubts about what she had said, causing what felt like a weight to settle in her chest. She... could have gone about this a different way than directly accusing her of valuing money more than lives! What had she been thinking? Sure, she had been angry, but... was that any excuse? That didn't make her any better than that rude jerk that tried to punch Dean... She slumped as she stared at the counter, she felt like sinking into the floor. She had really been rude to Erica...
The sound of the pokemon center door opening jolted her out of her thoughts and seeing Dean come in, she dashed away toward the rooms Rose had pointed out when she asked about a place to change her clothes. She rushed in and closed the door, resting her head against it. She let out a long sigh, she was positive both of them hated her now after that display... They probably didn't want to see her face anymore than she wanted to go through another argument with them. She'd just screw it up worse anyway. She sat there for a while, reliving the moment in her mind over and over before she realized she still had a prior engagement. Even if she had messed things up with Dean and Erica, she couldn't just... not go to the meeting with the professor. Even though they were probably going to ask Professor Lotus to take her off the roster for the group... Haruka got up shakily and shook herself. There wasn't any use in thinking things like that; whatever happened, happened, she supposed.
She changed out of her slightly dirty clothes that she had worn on the way to town into something a little nicer, a slightly better looking white blouse and a knee length red skirt, before peeking out of the room to see if Dean was still around. Seeing that he was, she waited for him to pick up his pokemon and leave. She... didn't really want to face him right now. Haruka closed the door, leaning against it once again, hopefully he'd leave soon so she wouldn't be late.

Dean tries to gather some intel on the ranches from his book, but there's not much more than a few comments about pokémon who have been domesticated for so long they can't be found in the wilds any longer, giving a few names the nurse said before. He notices most of the book does that, mentioning pokémon here and there by name, even showing some footprints, but never going into detail or showing pictures. Its focus lays more in plants and geographical features than the local fauna. His disappointment doesn't last long, however, as a luminous sign flashes in the waiting room to indicate his pokémon are ready. He returns to the front counter, where Rose hands him his pokéballs back.
"Here they are. Thank you for waiting," she says with a smile. "I'm afraid your turistar is a little hurt yet, as we couldn't hurry the healing process much more or it could cause some permanent damage. I recommend a good night of sleep and he should be good as new," she explains, looking around. "What about your friends? Their pokémon are ready as well," she asks in a cheerful mood, but she's not indelicate, doing no further questions after Dean's answer. The boy then makes his way to the front door and heads into town, not seeing any of his female companions. He decides to finally check what the stores offer since he skipped it earlier.
Haruka leaves the changing room a few seconds after Dean exits the PokéCenter, briskly heading to the counter. Rose is still there, her smile unaffected. "Thank you for waiting," she says, giving the young priestess her two pokéballs back. "Your pokémon have been fully healed. If you need anything else, please, don't hesitate in asking," she offers with a smile. When Haruka is ready, she leaves as well, but she decides to take a longer path to the lab, one closer to the wide plains of the south, where she can see the ocean and think about the events that followed her speech.
Erica spends her time in a more productive way, working on a new design. She has some trouble adjusting the intensity of the recoil at first, but as soon as she remembers to take into account the spherical distribution of weight, the project works perfectly. She's able to make it bounce precisely as she wants after a few tries, so she packs her things and heads back to the PokéCenter. Rose isn't at the counter when she enters, but the doorbell sound is enough to make the young nurse appear. "Oh, good! Thank you for waiting, trainer. Sorry that it took this long," she says, offering the girl her pokéballs. "but your pokémon are in perfect conditions. If there's anything else you need help with, I'd be glad to be of assistance," she finishes with a smile. Soon after Erica leaves as well, getting ready to the encounter with Professor Lotus. And to see Haruka and Dean again...
Haruka is the first to arrive at the lab, an average-size wooden building with two floors. The lights are on inside, so she decides to knock on the door, just as Dean turns the corner after his little visit to the shops. The boy makes his way to the door as well, arriving just as an assistant opens it to let both trainers pass, likely preventing an awkward moment of silence. At least that's what Erica thinks from her position, a few meters away watching the scene unfold, unnoticed. The girl had been there for the past 10 minutes, considering what could be waiting for her inside. And the chat she herself wanted to have.
Dean and Haruka are admitted inside a clearly advanced laboratory. Machinery are all around and about a dozen people are bent over machines and computers. The professor is at a table near the corner, a couple of assistants handing her papers, but as soon as she sees the duo, she stands up and walks to welcome them. "Dean, Haruka! I'm glad to see you both!" she says, shaking both hands before looking for a third. "Where's Erica? she asks, and almost as if arranged another knock comes from the door. The professor hurries to open it and finds herself face to face with the last member of the group.
"Erica! I was just asking about you!" she says in her cheery voice, guiding the three trainers to a side door, passing through a hallway before they are all in a small yet comfortable meeting room. She offers them seats around the round table, herself sitting on a chair. "Now, tell me what all you have done. How has Lima treated you so far?" she demands with honest interest. "Spare me no details!"

Erica nods as she gets back her recovered pokemon.
"Yeah, thanks. If I need anything else I'll bug ya, Rose. Bye."
She turns to leave and heads for the lab. She decides to wait nearby and case the place, afterall, meeting the others again and having the one on one with the Professor are going to be awkward topics. Not stuff she's looking forward to, so she sits and waits, going over Adrian's dex. Now that she knows he already has his replacement, this is hers through and through. A use could probably be found for it, outside a 2nd dex. Afterall, pokedexes are really powerful devices, and she's not in such a desperate need for parts now so she doesn't have to scrap it like the others she's... obtained in the past. She fiddles with it, mostly just seeing what functions remain usable before noticing the two others both seemed to find their way to the door. She gathers up and heads down. She waves the Professor off.
"Yeah don't worry Prof. Wouldn't want to keep you waiting or anything."
Erica quickly slides up in a seat, and she'd rather have the others pipe up, but when they don't she leans back and looks at the Professor.
"Easy, so far I'd guess."
She looks over to the others, and her gaze falls on Haruka again. To the shrine maiden, Erica only looks slightly more agitated than normal, but really doesn't seem affected otherwise. Erica wonders if it's even worth trying to be proactive in making nice with Haruka. It'd make Dean happy... but. Erica's not the one in the wrong here. So she decides to just poke the tension herself, and let Haruka stew.
"I mean I already have five pokemon. More than these two jokers. Although..."
She looks back to the Professor.
"From the way you seemed accepting of them, my cases didn't seem like they'd be a big issue in battles, but it turns out I'm not going to be able to use them mostly when facing down other chumps. Kinda left me hanging in the breeze with no pants, Lotus."

Haruka thanked Rose for helping out Kasai before leaving the pokemon center. She glanced around, making sure Dean had left the area before quickly going over the layout of the town and taking a different path. She quickly decided on one closer to the southern edge of town. While it wasn't next to the ocean, is was near it, which gave a nice view that she glanced at occasionally as she hurried along. Though she could have used the time to sort out her thoughts, she found that they just kept running in circles, going over what ifs. What would happen if they both decided that they didn't want to travel with her anymore? Would she just... have to go home? She just started, she wasn't ready to go back yet. What if they didn't, but... held it against her for the rest of the journey? That... wouldn't be enjoyable.
But it wouldn't help focusing on things like that... So, Haruka shook herself out of the cloud of worries and focused on what she could, which was the view and the walk itself. The town was nice and quiet, though it was a lot louder than her own village. Though... most places would be. Living near the ocean would be interesting though, she wondered how it affected the daily lives of the townsfolk as she went. She found herself in front of the professor's place soon enough, which felt a little... too soon. This... was sure to be awkward and Haruka wasn't sure what she could do to stop it. Though, she might as well get it over with. Seeing that the building was occupied, she knocked on the door and waited for an answer. Though just as she did, she spotted Dean coming around a building out of the corner of her eye. A brief moment of dread sunk into her stomach, which caused her to knock a bit more forcefully on the door; hoping someone would answer it quickly. She didn't... really want to have that conversation right now.
Luckily, just as Dean got within talking range, an assistant opened the door and she rushed through. Haruka felt a little flushed and flustered when they were brought to Professor Lotus and took several deep breaths to calm herself down as she shook her hand. She winced as the professor asked about Erica, though the door opened and admitted the missing member of their party, so Haruka was spared having to answer. She... still felt bad about what she said, but she was still convinced she had a point. Though... now wasn't the time to bring it up. As Professor Lotus asked how she was doing, Haruka drew herself together for a reply, "It's been... um... alright," she said weakly.
Ah! That wouldn't do, there wasn't any need to get Professor Lotus worried or dragged into this. Haruka managed to strengthen her voice as she continued, "There was a little bit of trouble with a group of Faintrick that tried taking our things, but we managed to beat them back. There was also a group of... particularly rude trainers that goaded us into a battle. We beat them of course, but... they were still rude. But other than that, things have been okay." Even if the last few hours hadn't been great, she had still enjoyed herself the rest of the way. She ignored Erica's dig at how many things she caught. She had less than her because she had standards when it came to pokemon, not because she wasn't good at catching things. "You probably already know, but I caught a Dustley and a Mefflora and they're both very cute! Are Mefflora rare around here? There was a girl I was talking to that said she'd been looking for one for a while," she continued, pushing the subject away from her own personal feelings on their journey so far.

When Dean went back inside the Pokémon center, there was no sign of Haruka. The more he thought about it, the more he felt he'd been a little bit too hard on her. He waited around for a couple of minutes before deciding to pick up his Pokémon and head out to the lab.
"Thanks for the good care Rose, I'll be sure to give Shuriken a nice long rest. I kinda asked a little bit too much from him on his first battle. I won't make that mistake again. See you around"
With a little bit of time left to kill before the meeting with Professor Lotus, he decided to browse around the shops for a little bit. He wasn't looking for anything in particular, nor did he have that much cash on him at the moment. After browsing the various items in the store he left empty handed. When he rounded the corner to the lab, he saw Haruka was already at the door waiting. When she was within earshot he wanted to call out for her to wait a little, but at that point the door was opened by one of the professor's aides. While entering he glanced around to see a well equipped lab, but no sign of Erica yet.
Almost right on cue, the third member of their group entered as well. Dean sure hoped that the time apart had done something to improve the girl's mood, but it was soon apparent that she was still not too happy about the situation when she made the unnecessary comment about her catching 5 Pokémon. Dean rolled his eyes at the comment, but decided not to answer. He let both girls finish talking before he started some of the things he felt the girls omitted from their recap.
"Honestly, I think we're doing pretty well out there. We've all caught some pretty cool Pokémon, not a double one between the three of us. We've encountered a lot of cool species so far and I plan on visiting the local ranch either later today or tomorrow morning to study some more. I'm impressed with both of my companion's battle prowess, especially considering them just starting out. Both bring unique qualities to the table I've not had the pleasure to work with before."
He quickly looks at both of the girls in turn, hoping that his remarks would not be taken the wrong way. He scratched his head before he continued, making sure to choose his words correctly.
"We did have a bit of an awkward situation come up this morning. After chasing away a group of Superboa that were trying to eat some mefflora, we stumbled across a bit of a peculiar sight. A couple of Pokémon that looked like Unown, but were much smaller were crawling around on a rock. When we went in to get a closer look and scan them with our dexes, the machines started acting up and we were not able to perform a proper scan. Haruka made some kind of 'thing' to ward us against evil spirits or something and one of the creatures jumped in it, almost like taking possession or something. Honestly though, I'm not the best at describing things like this, maybe Haruka or Erica can chime in."
Dean rubs his hands over his arms when he finishes his story. "Things gave me the heebie jeebies"

Haruka blinked as Dean spoke. Did he really mean that? Well... maybe she wasn't as worse off as she thought. Though she couldn't help a small voice in the back of her head that said he only said he was impressed by your usefulness in battle, not you personally. She shook herself as she heard Dean speak about the strange Unown they had encountered earlier. She had... completely forgotten about them after the most recent events of the day to be honest. She was supposed to be the occult expert! She should have mentioned that first thing...
She wracked her brain for what she had noticed as she spoke, "Ah, right. Those. They were... particularly strange for Unown. They acted more like... shadows on a wall, unable to leave the surface, rather than the usual floating around. I made a Cleanse Tag to ward them off, but one of them vanished from the wall and appeared on the back of the tag instead. I ah... left the Cleanse Tag behind since I thought it wouldn't be prudent to bring something I was unsure about with me." Haruka thought for several more moments, remembering the strange encounter, "This is just speculation, but... I think it might have been because the tag was... paper if that makes sense. It moved from the stone wall to the piece of paper... perhaps due to the fact that Unown are heavily related to writing. Maybe it preferred a more standard surface for such things? If it matters, they were an 'A' and a 'D' in Unown characters."

Erica blinked. She too, had almost forgotten. Maybe because of the fact that they messed up all her equipment so her brain auto-suppressed it for her.
"Oh yeah, those... things... Never going near them again. Anything that messes with my tech like that is a hard pass. HARD pass."

Professor Lotus listens attentively as the trainers speak. She raises her eyebrows at Erica when she pokes the others about the number of pokémon they have and when she complains about the cases, but say nothing. She accompanies Haruka's report with quick nods and smiles widely when Dean compliments his companions. But when the boy talks about the unown quickly followed by Haruka's explanation, her excitement becomes evident. "Yes! So you did find them!" she says, clapping her hand enthusiastically. "Great! We'll talk about them, but let me answer your questions first."
She turns to face Erica, a somewhat serious face. "I'm sorry, Erica, but I'm not that familiar with your work. I know only what Professor Juniper told me, including the fact you're incredibly smart, inventive and ingenious," she says honestly, looking the girl straight in her eyes. "I'm sure you'll find a way to use your creations in battle, but please remember your journey here is not only about that," she says with a smile. "Will you tell me your work hasn't been useful capturing that almost full team you mentioned?" she winks at Erica, "You are now properly funded, so use your brain to develop whatever you want and enjoy the fact almost no one in Lima knows what you can do with them. Like I said, I'm sure you'll find a way."
Professor Lotus then faces Dean. "I'm really glad to hear that, Dean. To be honest, we were a bit worried about their adaptation," she says, looking apologetically at Erica and Haruka. "but hearing from you they are that capable is really a relief. Well done, guys!" she says with a wide smile. "And it's a good idea to check the ranches. Many endemic species. Look for Mr. Hermann's," she says, echoing Selena's advice. "He's a nice man with a Santa Claus' complex."
Finally, she turns to Haruka. "I'm sorry your first battle was unpleasant, Haruka, but the experience is gonna be useful pretty soon," she says with another wink. "There's a Gym in the next city, if you're up for it" She then ducks under the table but continues speaking. "About the mefflora, they aren't exactly rare, but very elusive. They hide and flee, never staying too close to humans, so it's hard to get them. Not unlike faintrick and turistar," she says, taking a bag and placing it on the table, just in time to coordinate the mention of the pokémon with their respective owners. "They don't hide much but are very quick in running away from trainers. Neither is particularly uncommon, but they are really hard to catch." She carefully opens the bag, removing a small book from it.
"Now, about the unowns... We actually don't know much about what they are or where they come from," she says that very matter-of-factly with a grin. "Most of the research in this lab is actually about that topic. We do know a bit how they work, though." She opens the book to show many scriptures using an alphabet incredibly similar to unowns. "The Tanoby people lived in Lima about a thousand years ago, and they were very knowledgeable about them, but they only left some pieces of information around before they vanished one day."
She then takes another thing from the tab, this time some kind of scroll she quickly unfolds, showing 5 of the weird creatures on it. They aren't moving as much as they were on the cliff wall, but their eyes still flicker from face to face. "Here they are. Don't worry, they are pretty much harmless," she tries to tranquilize the foreigners, "but they are not normal pokémon. They seem to have an aversion to technology, so whenever we simply think about using a gadget on them, they mess it up. But only when we have the intention." To prove her point, she takes a pokédex from the bag and starts browsing the information on it, showing the trainers the screen working perfectly. And then it suddenly goes blank, a split second before she turns it towards the scroll. "See what I mean? We assume they are partly psychic like the pokémon, but they work quite differently." She puts the device away. "So far so good? We're getting to the good part," she says with a smile.

Erica speaks up to correct the Professor.
"Like I said, I figured I 'wouldn't' be able to use them but your tone yesterday seemed to suggest it was ok, or such a foreign concept that it didn't matter. I mean, I'll find a way around it. I always do."
Erica shifts uncomfortably in her seat, however, at the praise heaped on her. And that feeling is only heightened when her brain catches up with the fact that she mentions Professor Juniper.
Isn't that Unova's Professor? What the hell, how did SHE know about me? And then have the nerve to tell THIS one?Damnit. I thought I was always careful... Damn. Damn Damn Damn.
The feeling increases another notch when Lotus brings out the book with the lettering in them. Even though these aren't real, they still give her the same pause as before. Erica then 'was' going to bring up the logical problem in that the Professor admits they don't know much but have most of the lab dedicated to researching it, but decides against it. She then sinks in her seat when some are brought out.
"Yeah, FYI my 'intent' will be to never go near them again if I don't have to, cause when my tech doesn't work I'm basically useless, and they creep me out in the worst ways."

Haruka listened to the professor's words and cocked her head slightly, "Ah, well, I must have gotten lucky then, considering they ran straight past us while being chased by some Superboa... Though perhaps they're only hard to catch due to the approach most people make. I asked the Mefflora nicely if one of them wanted to come with me and Hana decided she would give it a shot. I imagine charging at them with pokeball in hand wouldn't make them keen on staying put..."
Haruka was somewhat distracted from her musings by the professor's actions. What exactly is she getting out? She examined the text that the professor brought carefully. Something about it looked... familiar. Where had she... ah! "That writing... It kind of reminds me of the carvings in the Ruins of Alph. Are the Tanoby people related to the Alphites? Or... is it just coincidence? Most early writing was inspired by Unown, I think, or... maybe it was the other way around. Regardless, they might have just made similar writings just due to that... Though... the sudden disappearance matches what they think happened to the Alphites too... Though, I'm not sure when exactly the vanishing occurred."
Haruka's rambling about the ancient past was interrupted by Professor Lotus unrolling a strange scroll, where 5 of those weird Unown were shifting across. Haruka suppressed the urge to bring out a Cleanse Tag as the Professor explained their traits. She raised an eyebrow when Professor Lotus said they were harmless, but said nothing. On the demonstration of the technology malfunctioning, Haruka piped up, "Technology acts strangely in the Ruins of Alph too, though not quite to that level... I think it's mostly radio signals and other things of that sort. Though... to be fair, I never got this close to a Unown there. The chambers where Unown have been spotted are closed to the public, so... maybe they do affect technology like these ones up close."

With the professor mentioning mr. Hermann's ranch, Dean was now dead set on going there to see what all the fuss is about. Selena mentioned the same thing, so it must be really worth it to pay the man a little visit.
When the conversation shifts to the Unown, Dean grows a little tense. He was surprised Haruka didn't mention them sooner, but he figured she might still be a bit shaken by the earlier confrontation. When the professor unfolds the scroll, he cautiously approaches but keeps a little distance just to be safe.
"Professor, sorry to ask it like this but why are you showing us this? Are these strange creatures the reason why you wanted to meet up with us here? I gotta be honest, I'm not much of a paranormal investigator."
Like before, he keeps his distance, trying his best to not look as creeped out as he felt.

"Well, we do theorize the Alphites are related somehow to Tanoby, but no concrete proof has been found yet," Lotus explains after Haruka's words. "As a matter of fact, we have found similar people in most areas of the world, always with the same type of alphabet and connection to unowns, but we need to study it much further. And that's where you may come in," she says with a wide smile. "While you do have the objectives given by the League - you know, testing the gyms and contests and overall structure for trainers - I do have a favor to ask you." she says simply, with honest eyes. "We really need to learn more about them, so we need many more Tanoby Unowns - that's how we call them," she interrupts her train of thought to explain, "so we can learn where they come from, where they go after disappearing etc... Many trainers stumble upon pieces of Tanoby knowledge and inadvertently find more words, so it would be very nice of you to do as Liman trainers do," she speaks amicably. "And you don't need to be an occult expert either! People from Lima are very accustomed to these creatures, who are quite commonly used." she explains. "Let me tell you what we know about them. First, they tend to appear away from civilization. The more secluded the place, the greater the chance of finding them," she explains, enumerating the information. "Second, they like to be in writing materials. That's why they gladly jumped from dirt to your cleansing tag, Haruka. They like paper, and they like papyrus even more," she says, taking a slip of the material from the bag, which somehow makes the little unowns shiver. "And third and more important: they form the words." She stops to give some dramatic pause, but the meaning behind her words is unclear. She slowly approaches the papyrus to the scroll, making the shadowy letters jump from paper to papyrus, one at a time. "Tanoby words, to be exact, which are not simply common words. They carry immense power! I'm pretty sure you're familiar with the myths involving Arceus and its many limbs," she says, pointing at the unowns. "Here, we have reasons to believe it's not only a myth."Once all 5 unowns are in the slip of papyrus, carefully organized to form a word - CISOM - Professor Lotus holds it with both hands over the scroll. "They always have 5 different letters, but that doesn't mean all combinations are words. When they are, though, they are capable of doing some incredible things by simply destroying the writing surface." She then suddenly rips the papyrus in two, and a loud snap is heard when a glow comes from the creatures. In a split second, the creatures are back to the paper scroll, where an orange piece of crystal now lays. Interestingly, though, only three of them return, while the "I" and "C" are nowhere around. "Damn. I was hoping not to lose any vowels..." Lotus says, collecting the paper scroll with an annoyed face and offering Haruka the orange crystal. "Well, wasn't it fantastic?" she asks with a smile. "I mean, from what I've heard, you have nothing like this back at the mainlands, right? Pure, unaltered creation," she says very excitedly, an almost manic glee in her face. "Sadly, we know very few Words of Creation, those that actually create things, and they are kept somewhat of a secret from common people. But we do know some that do other less dangerous effects, many very interesting for trainers. More interested now?" she asks with a wink. HarukaThe crystal is an orange shard.

Dean stares in amazement as the Professor performs, at least that's how he sees it, magic.
"Wow, how did you?, what the?, did they die just now?"
Dean's curiosity won over from his fear as he stepped a little closer to take a look at the orange object being offered to Haruka. He was definitely interested in how this worked, creating something out of thin air was just... impossible.
"Seriously though professor. How does this work? What happened to the I and the C?"
A knot started to form in Dean's stomach. If his gut feeling was any indication, there were dangerous powers at work here. He wasn't exactly sure if he wanted to be any part of this. His eyes were on Haruka, she was clearly more at home with the subject matter and he wanted to see what she thought of the matter.

Haruka listened to the professor's explanation, nodding occasionally as she spoke. When she asked for the favor, Haruka thought about it for a few moments before nodding hesitantly. "Well... if they're harmless and we're likely to run into them anyway... I don't see why not." Still... it seemed like she was building up to something. What was it? Haruka watched intently as the Professor brought out a slip of some sort of material and the Unown transferred over to it.
Her brow furrowed as she considered the professor's words. She was familiar with most of the myths behind Arceus as far as she knew, but what was she getting at? As she thought, the sudden sound of papyrus being torn in half and the following loud snap caused Haruka to flinch. The sudden appearance of the orange shard caused her to stagger back a step and her eyes to widen greatly. She took it when it was handed to her before inspecting it carefully. This was... she'd never seen anything like this before. It was amazing! The possibilities of what you could do with it... But... the absence of two of the Unown nagged at her a little bit.
Haruka stared down at the orange shard as she bit her lip, thinking about how to phrase it. "... I... am interested. I just have a few reservations about it. I'm going to have to echo Dean's question about where the Unown... went. Do they just... go somewhere else? Or were they... used up? Though... from what you said earlier, you're not sure about what happens to them? And secondly... You're sure this is... safe? I've seen the consequences of people playing with this sort of thing and... it isn't usually pretty," Haruka said as her eyes took on a haunted look. She shook herself before continuing, "... Though you said this sort of thing is... common in Lima?"
This was... crazy! Haruka had seen things that most people would throw her into an asylum for if she recounted them, but using Unown to just... create things? That was something she thought was under the domain of Arceus alone! Something this powerful had to have a downside... right?

Erica just stayed quiet as the events transpired. This is so far beyond her understanding. All this talk of ancient relics and gods and basically friggin magic has her on edge. One thing is for sure, she's not about to go hunting these things down. Sure the Professor 'says' they are harmless, and she's trying to be nice but... screw that noise. She understands none of this, and if she can understand it, can't take it apart to know how it works... then it's just blind use. And she's not about to be blind.
"Sorry. Nope. Just... nope. Can't do. I'll stick with the league testing."
She may not know her tech in and out to the point where she could make base components from scratch, but she understands how they work and how they interact. People and Pokemon too, she doesn't know biology, but she understands at least they are living creatures. Capable of being ordered, manipulated, loved, fed, and on and on... And then capable of doing all those things back at her. This is just... never. Just never.
