As soon as the first drain connects, the Golduck retreats! It clearly didn't expect the stupid grass snake to stay put long enough to hit it. Looks like you'll need to go in there after it somehow. Or find another entrance to its lair.
Based on Jane's limited knowledge, Golducks are amphibious, kinda like frogs. They cannot hold their breath forever, but they can easily outlast a human, and probably other land-dwelling Pokemon as well.

Drat! She had hoped that those shenanigans would work! Oh well! Jane herself swam over to the cave and took a brief look. Maybe she herself would be able to explore it? Probably. But she'd need a bit more breath! So she grabbed a hold of Ana and motioned to the surface, leaving the cavern unguarded for now.
Or did she? Tia was still around watching, waiting. The Dragalge knew that their prey still lurked inside the cave - guarding the prize. And her instincts told her what do do - remain still and become one with the seafloor, with the rocks and kelp and whatnot. Eventually the frog might get curious and then ...
FcoOPhTq6d6+4 Stealth. (Tia also has the Stealth capability so she's extra annoying to spot!)
Once back at the surface Jane took a few quick breaths and let Ana do the same before diving down once more. She grabbed a steady hold of the Serperiors tail, so they could keep pace, and directed the team to search the immediate area around the lair but still out of sight from the one known entrance!

Looking around the area reveals no alternative entrances/exits to Golduck's lair. That doesn't mean there aren't any, just that they aren't underwater. A quick glance just inside the entrance, however, reveals a vertical shaft that Golduck likely used to escape pursuit. It likely leads into a drier area where the Golduck makes its nest. Invading a Wild Pokemon's actual nest seems like a terrible idea, but it did steal from her for some reason. Whether it somehow smelled the food in her bag, or is just a klepto is uncertain. Upon closer examination, Jane believes she herself could possibly shimmy up there, but her varied Pokemon would have to be carried inside their balls to get in or out.

Hmrhm! Jane floated back to the surface to consider her options. She hadn't found a better entrance - and the duck hadn't tried to sneak out either. So she guessed that there really only was the one she had already found. She really didn't want to go underwater cave-diving. But on the other hand - she really needed her bag back!
So ... Yeah.
Another deep breath at the surface and then she was hitching a ride with Ana back down to the cave. She recalled the Serperior and without any more hesitation started diving into the cave...

The path in question seems to go up rather than down, so up she goes. It takes several minutes to navigate the tunnel, simply because it is so long. By the time Jane reaches an air pocket, her lungs are burning and she's gasping for air. Luckily, said "air pocket" turns out to be a large cave. Unfortunately for Jane, it's quite dark in here. She can only see a few feet in front of her. She does, however, hear some sounds across the way. Sounds like.. Psyduck?

All right all right! Breathe. she thought to herself and took a few deep ragged mouthfuls of air. That was scary! But the hardship had only made her more determined to get her bag back. Now - how do do this? She needed someway to spot the Psyduck and her bag. Maybe Fluffy? But she wasn't sure how much air there really was in here. Didn't want to risk burning up all the oxygen - not yet at least. So instead she went for Hind - he would be able to see with his Darkvision! She released the blimp from his ball, trying to spot as much as she could in the brief flash of light, and then commanded quietly: "My bag. Can you see it?"
Hind looked around in the cavern. They weren't supposed to go back to the rock tunnel today were they?

Hind spots a whole collection of Psyduck. Baby ones, in fact. There are two Golduck nearby as well, with one apparently feeding the young via the usual method: carefully giving each one bits of tiny insects wrapped in strips of vegetation. Apparently it decided some of the stuff in your bag made for excellent "extra food" for the baby Psyducks. Hind can also see that the Golduck that isn't busy with the young is staring it down. It may not be able to see in the dark very well, but the sound of a Poke ball combined with whatever sounds Hind and Jane made alerted it to an intruder. It quacks loudly in warning, suggesting that Hind should back off.
Hind does its best to communicate these things to Jane, who was unfortunately blinded by the flash of the Poke Ball, her eyes having previously adjusted to the dim light.

All right. There was something there. And since it was quacking, it was probably the Golduck. Plus a few friends? Hind didn't seem overly worried so they were probably not about to be devoured by a horde of ducks just yet. So. Now to get the bag back. She had a faint awareness of them being psychic - so maybe that was an angle to go for? Worth a shot.
Jane cautiously advanced a few meters in the direction of the ducks, led by Hind. She tried as hard as she could to focus her mind on two alternating images. Herself looking really sad without her bag and then another vision of her - but with the bag and much happier. Hopefully this was something they could pick up. And understand!

It occurs to Jane that she heard someone say once before that Ghost, Dark, and Bug-Type Pokemon have natural ways to disrupt the abilities of Psychic Pokemon, which Golduck is not, but the Psyduck line is well-known for having minor psychic abilities (such as throwing random rocks at you from afar). The quack-growling becomes more intense as she draws nearer, followed by a blast of water at her feet (a warning shot).

All right. Stop. This wasn't working. Why... Hind! Right. Jane halted and returned her ghost type, instead switching in Nie - whom undoubtedly looked much less threatening. Also not a ghost. Clutching her fluffy shield tight Jane hoped for no more sprays of water and went back to thinking really hard!

The two Golduck move closer together, blocking line of sight to their hatchlings as they advance on you menacingly. Seems that they either don't care for your thoughts or aren't bothering to check them. They see you as a threat to their young, and, since you don't seem to be leaving, they are more than ready to drive you off.

"All right you stupid thieves. If this is the way you want it!" Jane glares at the Golducks. She hadn't come for a fight - but she wasn't leaving without her bag either. If they weren't appealed by the cuteness of Nie or her own pleading thoughts then maybe Ana's grassy might would cause them to reconsider their stance? So Jane quickly switched her Whimsicott for her Serperior.
Popping into existence with another brief flash of light Ana knew what to do. She recognized that look of hostility on the Golducks - and their bag-thiefy smirks. It was time to drain some criminal ducks!

The Mama Golduck is KO'd instantly, having been the more injured of the two. Despite this, it manages to Disable Ana's Mega Drain. Golduck #2 creates a shimmering screen in front of itself to block attacks.

Golduck manages to turn aside just enough of the attack to avoid being KO'd, and it Disables Leaf Blade. It then blasts Ana with a psychic attack!

Oh no! Ana wasn't sure if she could tell the diffirence between her head and her tail! Uhhh ... Also, all of her Grass moves seems to have been disabled. Darn! Hmm. What should she do? Maybe go for a Wrapping grapple - hopefully without tying herself into a knot!

Golduck struggles mightily against the blasted grass snake, but is quickly choked into unconsciousness. The now terrified baby Psyduck are quacking madly, trying to wake their parents. Jane the monster is now free to retrieve her bag, and its scattered contents.
Jane earns 60 poke xp.

Constable Jane dismisses Ana and sends out Teus. The Flareon could provide a smouldering light if needed and, with his excellent nose, help herd back any ducklings that were about to do something dumb. What should I do with them? Jane considered while she collected her scattered belongings. She thought briefly about capturing all of them - maybe their ranch could have a duck pond - but what if one got away? She was starting to feel a little bad about breaking up the duck-family. The other obvious option was just to leave. But then again how would ducklings with KOed parents manage? Poorly. So there were those bad feelings again.
Bleh. Stupid ducks. With a sigh Jane made her decision. First she opened her (hopefully) duck-proof jar of berries and (carefully) gave each psyduck a Pecha Berry to nibble on. That probably wasn't really enough to calm them down but at least they would have *something* to eat while their parents recovered. Then she moved over to the papa golduck, whom she figured was the least injured, and got to work with her First Aid Kit.

Hopefully it wouldn't turn violent immediately on waking up. Oh well if it did she'd just have to slap it and start over again ...

Now if the Golduck actually behaved - which it hopefully had - by now it should at least be good enough that it could care for the nest. With some rest it might be fit enough to gather more food tomorrow. All right - so probably one down. And a looot of time. Tia was probably pretty worried by now! She didn't really feel that she had either the time or energy to give mama Golduck the same treatment so she simply slapped her with the one Revive in her backpack. 2d6·2d6·2d6·2d6·2d6

The jar of berries did, in fact, prove to be duck-proof, though it looks like they did try to get it open at least once before giving up. Likely they didn't understand how to unscrew the lid and just tried to pry it open. After a few minutes, Papa Golduck starts to wake up. Mama Golduck is woken instantly by the Revive. They clearly aren't happy that the human is still in their nest, but this human has that nasty grass snake hiding somewhere and they're too hurt to fight again. They settle for quacking angrily until she finishes getting her stuff and leaves.

Not too grateful are they? Jane thought to herself with a snort. But she could understand that. It was time to get out. She wrapped the plastic bag around her backpack again, double checking that it was whole and secure. Then she dismissed Teus. After a moment of hesitation she sent out Nie and asked her to puff herself up with air. Might come in handy if she needed an emergency breath or flotation device! Then after a quick hug she returned the Whimsicott to her ball, took a deep breath and dove into the water again.
Hopefully without any more complications she retrieved Tia and returned to the surface again.
