Lowell cracked his neck and sent the gang a text saying he'd be at his parents' and that they should send him a text when it was time to meet up before heading towards his parents' place. It wasn't too far from the main Silph building, in about as grey as neighbourhood as possible, but his mom still managed to keep a small garden and the flat was decorated in traditional Johto fashion.
He unlocked the door with his set of keys before knocking and hollering: "Ma, I'm home!"

With the evening here and night approaching fast Jane headed towards the bus station, with or without the cat in her hat. She wanted to make sure she was at her ranch to greet the guests (if they decided to be early). Plus she was curious to see how far the construction had come.
Wait ... Jane halted. Something was odd. Wrong even. A strange ... itching? ... feeling. Itching?! Oh great ... Who knew stray pokémon might actually have fleas. Well ... Probably most people. That's why they didn't randomly pet them. Erp... Hmph. Hindsight and all that! Jane sighed to herself and switched course to the pokécenter. They should be able to fix this right? They did fix much worse things - at least for pokémon ...

The Pokemon Center takes the Meowth to go get a flea bath and escorts Jane elsewhere to do the same. After a few hours, it's all settled. Jane is informed that both she and the abandoned Meowth are now parasite free and completely healthy. It seems some bad seed just up and left their Meowth on that bench as every so often some kind soul brings it in thinking its a Wild. The tricky part is, it's technically still owned, so a poke ball wouldn't work on it by default. However, recent changes in laws allow for ownership to be transferred by the Pokemon Center employees to (in this case) Jane. Then she can just recall it into a Poke Ball and take it home with her.

"Oh that's nice..." A red-eyed Jane thanks the pokécenter employee. Neither being flea-bitten nor flea-bathed had really been pleasant experiences so Jane was thankful they were both over. She also insisted that they (carefully!) de-fleaed her hoodie and old hat, since they had been in cat-contact.
Eventually though she could make another attempt at catching that bus - this time without ill-timed itches!

While Jane was being de-flea'd, they also cleaned her hoodie and cat-hat. They've been washed and sprayed so they're good to go.

Well that's really good service. Jane noted. She'd make sure to boost the pokecenter budget when she was the champion! *Cough* "when" *end-cough* Ahem. To the ranch!
Once at the small spot in the middle of nowhere Jane set up her camp. She'd love a cosy campfire, but the firewood she gathered didn't seem to cooperate. Eventually she just had Fluffy breathe at it until it was properly ignited.
Ahh this is really nice. Jane stared at the small fire and opened a nondescript paper bag containing lots of food suspiciously similar to the complimentary pokecenter breakfast buffet. Seeing that all of her pokemon were here at the ranch, she should probably have pilfered more. Ah well they could get a morsel or two each at least!
After dinner she just had a few craft projects to tinker with. And one more thing - to see if Sam could lure any (more) pokemon to her!

Sam's sweet smelling scent attracts a lone Pikachu. It spies Mawile and approaches warily, low to the ground, and ready to bolt away at a moment's notice.

In the morning, Song retrieved her Pokemon from the center and hopped on the public transportation toward Jane's ranch. She left out both Shui and Si to busy themselves with exploring as she walked from the bus stop toward the clearing her new friend had described. They returned with a berry and a couple of coins. Jane's Ranch
Only a ranch in the most technical of terms, it was clear that the small compound was quite new. While several poké-pens and shelter existed the main human habitat was still under construction. Thanks to the rapid speed of the Pokémon Construction Company one could almost guess what shape and colour the house would eventually have (mostly because there were a barrel labelled 'red' and 'don't eat the paint' next to the entrance).
Jane herself could be found wrapped in a blanket and sitting next to a small campfire in the middle of the courtyard. It looks quite cosy - good thing it isn't raining right now though. She has a small pile of Shards next to her and she appears to be carving them into smaller pieces and puzzling those pieces together into a multi-coloured sphere, with the help of some art n craft supplies. Her Flareon is out, occasionally trying to nibble on the shards but always pushed away just at the last moment. Eventually the Fire pokémon notices that they have guests and hops forward to greet them and Jane looks up.
"Oh hi!" she smiles. "I hope finding your way wasn't a bother! And good morning to you too!"

Janice appeared soon afterwards, still known to the group as Aurora Fullbright. She seemed to be having a conversation with someone as she approached from the distance.
"Well, yeah, but... what do you mean? Look, it'll be fine. It's worked out alright so far, hasn't it? Been a lot of fun too..." She paused for a moment as she turned the corner, her Alakazam walking wordlessly alongside her with a concerned? perplexed? expression. "Oh, hohoho. That. Well, there'll be time for that later I'm sure." The Psychic-Type narrowed her eyes for a moment at her trainer's reassurance, causing Aurora to splutter for a few moments before finding an answer. "Look, I actually mean that! C'mon, Cipher, cheer up, we're there!"
Swiftly, Aurora composed herself and looked up at the arriving trainers. "Oh hey there! This is the place, right? I love it. Got its own decor and everything." It was irritatingly rustic and quite frankly rather twee for her tastes. "So, we're just waiting for our... fourth, right?"

The next morning Lowell spent some time training with his pokemon then headed to the local mart to seach for a Metal Coat for Axel.
Afterwards he made his way towards Jane's ranch, waving as he entered.
"Mornin' girls. How'd your yesterday go?"

Jane have the approaching Alakazam a long and cautious look. With a few glances at Aurora of course. But nothing bad seemed to happen immediately so Jane decided to drop that odd feeling for now. Or make an attempt at least. Just think about something else!
"Right-right." With something to talk about, besides that weird thing, Jane felt much better. "This is it! So far. I *ahem* - the contractors - are working on the actual house. But at least we have this open space to practice on. And plot without anyone noticing! Except the contractors ..."
"Oh look! And there's Lowell!" Jane unwrapped herself from her blanket and stood up, so she could wave back properly. She grins and then briefly makes a grimace. "Good morning to you too! Yesterday was yesterday and I sure hope it stays there! Bleh. Hah let's not dwell on that."
"But today is a new day!" Jane beams and picks up the talisman of shard-shards she was working on. Then she puts away the remaining shards and the other supplies, stuffing it all into her bag. Then she was ready for ... well whatever they were going to do. "So! What are you guys up for? I think I need to prepare a bit for the Saffron City gym. It's probably next on my to-do list."

"I'd love to dwell on yesterday, actually. I need more of yesterday. Yesterday was a good day for making money and winning battles, yes sir" Lowell said as he made himself comfortable somewhere.
"Well, I have to give Axel the Metal Coat I just bought so that he evolves into a Scizor. After that? A planning session sounds great"

"Well what are you waiting for?" Jane sticks out her tongue and then laughs. "I don't mind Scizors today!"
Seeing as the proposed evolution would result in a massive fire vulnerability Jane made sure to catch and pick up Fluffy the Flareon. Just in case!

"We took a lot of good notes yesterday. I didn't share yesterday, but I can tutor any moves that I record in my logs. If there's a move you want to learn that one of our other Pokémon already knows, I can transfer the knowledge between them with some training."
Song sat near the fire with the murkrow and infernape near her, having just returned from their scavenging. She looked at what Jane was tinkering with. "Those are pretty." The dark bird hopped a few stepped toward the shiny crystals but didn't attempt to snag one... yet.
"My goal at the moment is to earn enough money for a flight license and catch a few of my team members up in strength before heading to another city for a badge." The girl seemed in no real rush, preferring the methodical approach.

Aurora folded her arms, taking in the three before her. "I saw you at my match yesterday against the gatekeeper for the Gym. I won after you left, by the way. So I'm technically cleared to begin the Gauntlet today." the girl began, looking over at Song before taking a glance back over to the others. "I myself was going to have a little look around, maybe try and get some money for something before challenging the Gym proper this evening. I'd say I'm ready as it is..." A tilt of her head down at the Alakazam, who simply nodded in return.
"This is Cipher, by the way. Been with me since the start." She started cheerfully, her eyes never betraying anything, before leaning forward and beginning again in earnest. "You have to beat a gatekeeper to show you can handle the Gym. The Gym itself is three trainers without a break, and then you get a choice of three ways to fight the gym leader. There's normal, where it's a normal Pokemon battle, Advanced, where it's a full contact throwdown between you and the Gym Leader herself in addition to the Pokemon battle and then..." She rolled her eyes, taking a step back. "If you're an idiot, there's this "Hard Mode" thing where you can fight the Gym Leader and her daughter, with all 10 of their Pokemon. Just in case you didn't know."

"...do they at least give you some extra-special prize if you beat the mother-daughter combo? Because otherwise that just sounds like masochism" Lowell said. He dropped to the ground and sat cross-legged, releasing his armaldo who got comfortable to the youth's left.
"I might hold off on the evolution until I have better options to deal with fire. Kiva and Clair are already pretty vulnerable to it and all, and Jamke here plus my Masquerain can only do so much. But there really aren't many bug-types that deal well with fire, so I might have to end up raising another Surskit"
He shrugged before returning to the topic at hand.
"Going at the Gatekeeper today and clearing that sounds like a fairly decent plan, honestly. Then maybe looking for a set of wilds to strengthen our teams for the match-up. The whole thing sounds like an attrition battle which I don't think favors you particularly A, what with psychics not often being too bulky. No clue about Jane's team, but I'd like having another effective attacking option even if my pokemon's neutral attacks are still plenty strong."

"Mm. I only raise Psychic-Types, just like you only raise Bug-types. I've found that there's plenty of durability in Psychic-Types, you just have to know where to look, and what to train." She put a hand to her covered mouth, apparently in thought. "The plan was mostly to use the heavy type advantage to blast through my opponents before they could really lay a finger on my Pokemon, types allowing." She sat down too, Cipher following suit and laying her spoons on the ground. "Speaking of attrition battles, as I recall Bug and Fighting don't do much to one another. What wilds were you thinking about?"

"This is a gym, so if you don't beat the leader you've essentially failed. It wouldn't surprise me at all if the gauntlet of trainers fought recklessly simply to damage your psychics and make the leader's time easier. I'd expect some Pangoro or Scrafty too which, while I'm sure you have answers to Dark-types, could stop the momentum of your steamroll"
Lowell then pulled out a small booklet where he had notes about his plans for the different bad matchup gyms that Bug had.
"Bug doesn't do much to many types, but it's pretty good defensively against Fighting. Axel and Cozette, which are part flying, give me some fairly decent match-ups and Stefan doesn't do resists because of his ability. Kiva knows Psychic too so I'd say offensively I'm not in the worst of shapes. And the fact that they're bugs means that I have no Pokemon weak to fighting on my team at the moment"
He looked thoughtful for a second or two before continuing his answer. "On the wilds front, the common Kanto bugs are actually pretty fantastic against fighting. Butterfree is a flying-type while Venomoth and Beedrill are Poison-types, so one of them has an offensive advantage while the other two end up being rather bulky on the defensive end. My biggest struggle is probably gonna be the inevitable fire/fighting, and I think that's gonna be this guy's job"
He pat his Armaldo's head, earning a chittering sound in response.
"Getting him was a stroke of luck but he's really helped round up my team. Even then, though, I'm often trying to create mismatches to get on even footing. Bug's offensive problems don't make my life any easier"

"Oh, I know. In fact, the gatekeeper came prepared with a Pangoro. Fortunately, I have ways of dealing with those slow brutes." She remarked, looking back at the bug boy with a vague glimmer of amusement. "And I have considered that possibility. Needless to say, I know how these gyms work." She gave a very slight chuckle. "Incidentally, were you planning on fighting yourself? That is an option, after all, and I'm sure more than one of us has combat abilities they'd like to test out themselves."
