Layl chuckled at Yoko, that was kind of the point, wasn't it? Getting to know each other tends to help you learn what you can talk about others with. She walked over to the table and sat on one of the stools, patting her lap to invite Nacht into it, which he gladly jumped onto. "I think that's an easy thing to remedy, Whats some things you like? Hobbies? Things like that. We could start with food, since we are in the lunchroom. My favorite food is Sea Salt Ice Cream, how about you all?" She had started to tap her fingers against the table, the sound faintly noticeable beneath her voice. Her other hand began scratching Nacht under his ears, a faint humming sound coming from the kit as he purred in content.

Iris As you take a taste of the cube you are hit by a wash of flavors, each individual and yet intermingled. For a moment you taste blueberry pie that had been removed from the oven a short while ago cooked by someone you love dearly then you would swear it tastes like a home-cooked casserole, then like a luxury steak bursting with richness. The taste vacillates wildly through the spectrum until the morsel is no more and you are left with an empty spoon.
Yoko As you open the door the word "Katsudon" catches in your mind echoing back and forth. Once it swings open you find a freshly prepared bowl of the egg rice topped with Pork cutlet dish made the way you like it.

Iris body basically goes "zing!" when she's hit by the rainbow of flavors. She could have sworn her hat jumped off of her head right then, but of course it hadn't. That just wasn't possible. What did happen, though, was Iris loudly recommending, "Dude! Everyone should try some of this!" while scooping out another small chunk, only a little bigger than the first and offering it to everyone in general. There was definitely a flavor overload, so better to take in a little at a time.
"Oh, and in the meantime," she doesn't forget the reason why she kept everyone in the kitchen even while swinging around a spoon of questionable food, "Those not eating should go through their bags and bring out any items they don't understand. I recognized everything in my pack. Heck, it's exactly what I had in it before coming here except for the TM... but even the ones that are exactly alike are probably just copies. Anyways, let's make sure that we're all on the same page with items. Items can be important in Pokemon battles... probably."

Layl asks what everyone's favorite foods are. He just glances around the table even as Iris exclaims at how pleasing her food is. "We havve chosen our favored meals. I ennjoy meat with fruit glazes and sugars. It iss usually a rare treat."
At Iris' suggestion to identify, and perhaps Identify, the group's items, Shossk obediently retrieves the four summoning orbs from his pack and lays them on the table.

Still holding up the spoon, Iris identifies the "summoning orbs" as, "Ah, those are Pokeballs, specifically the most basic type, fittingly known as a Basic Ball. They allow for easy storage of Pokemon if it's cumbersome to have them outside. Not sure how, but it's technology. I'm sure of that. If you hit a wild Pokemon with a Pokeball that isn't already claimed by a Pokemon, then the Pokeball can attempt to capture the wild 'mon. Oh, but Pokemon that already claim a ball can't be captured. There's a safety mechanism in the balls that prevent that so that trainers don't catch other trainers' Pokemon. Um... success rate of capture depends on the quality of the Pokeball, like I said basic is the lowest, and how tired/hurt the wild Pokemon is. If the rules in this game are like my world, you can carry at most six Pokemon with you. Even if they weren't, I'd recommend an upper limit of six. Like I was telling Layl earlier, it's hard to give each Pokemon the appropriate attention the more Pokemon you have."

"Similar to a Dominate spell," Shossk offers thoughtfully. "Is there no duration? Are the creatures permanently bound to one's will?"

Iris just sort of frowned at Shossk, a little concerned over the conclusion he came to. "I... I...," Iris wasn't even sure how to answer the question. It was true that, generally speaking, even wild Pokemon were inclined to follow the lead of the trainer that caught them, which was a sort of bond born out of the show of dominance that had been displayed at the time of capture, but it wasn't complete domination, nor would Iris describe it as the Pokemon binding to the will of the trainer. Her mind flashbacked to a certain violent Pancham, and Iris suddenly figured out a pretty good way to describe what it meant to capture a Pokemon in a Pokeball. Motioning to the Dartrix she gave an example, "Okay, wait, let me just say something. Look, I'm not sure what you mean by Dominate and bound to one's will, but in my world... Well, let's put it this way. If your Dartrix suddenly decided it wanted you dead, nothing you say or think, aside from convincing it otherwise, will stop it from attacking you. A Pokemon is free to act as it wishes even after capture, a good number just tend to follow the orders of the person that captured them out of their own free will. The advantage a Pokeball gives is 1) preventing a Pokemon from being caught by another, 2) convenient storage, and 3) an easy means to restrain a Pokemon if it does act up. After the initial capture success, it's very rare for a Pokemon to break out of its Pokeball without the trainer releasing it." Iris frowned really hard as she spoke. She was very, very serious about Shossk understanding that Pokemon weren't just creatures he could call upon simply to fight for him. Earlier, he seemed to understand easily enough about having to feed and take care of his Pokemon. Iris just hoped that it was easy for him to wrap his mind around Pokemon as creatures that followed his command by choice rather than force. If she could, she would have liked to address how their Pokemon actually weren't that different from them, but she could feel that would over complicate things. Maybe she can address it a little later after everyone had gotten used to giving their Pokemon orders so they wouldn't try anything funny in a fight.

Yoko's eyes lit up when she saw the steaming katsudon, and her mouth started to water she began imagining how it would taste. She quickly set Bang down on the table before then reaching into the refrigerator and picking up the bowl. It was surprisingly warm to the touch, and she could see steam emanating from it. A part of her wanted to question how it got there, but that mystery can wait until after she had finished eating it. With katsudon now in hand, Yoko closed the refrigerator and turned to go sit down and eat, until she realized one little problem: she didn't have anything to eat it with.
A quick glance around the room confirmed that there were no chopsticks (or any other eating utensils) readily available, so Yoko turned her attention to the cupboards. Figuring that at least one of them would have what she needed, she walked over to the nearest cupboard and opened it, and inside she found exactly what she was looking for: a pair of chopsticks. This was the second time in a short period of time that she's needed something and she found. Is today her lucky day or something? Or does it have something to do with how this world works?
Putting that matter aside, Yoko should probably stop ignoring Layl now. "Well, my favorite food is katsudon, which is what this is," she answered as she walked back over to the table and set her bowl down beside her Remoraid, before then pulling up a seat before them. "It's basically egg rice with pork cutlets and some seasonings, but it's so good." Once she was comfortably seated, she put her hands together in a similar fashion to a prayer and muttered, "Itadakimasu," and with that she picked up a pork cutlet and took a small-sized bite out of it. It tasted exactly the way she thought it would taste: absolutely delicious! She gives an approving hum of the taste as she savors the bite in her mouth, before she then swallowed it down and resumed talking.
"As for my hobbies, I like to design and make costumes and dress up in them. In fact, I'm wearing one right now," she said with a hint of pride, and she stood up and did a little twirl to show off her design. "I've been doing this for about... eight years? Maybe ten now? I've lost track at this point, but I've been doing it for while now, and it's been really fun." At this point Yoko sits back down and takes another bite out of her pork cutlet, then turns her attention to Layl. "What about you? What are some of your hobbies?" she then asked, putting the ball back in Layl's court. If anyone was paying attention to Yoko's speech and mannerisms, they would notice that there was now a surprising lack of nervousness in Yoko's actions.

Shossk blinks and tilts his head fractionally, considering for a moment. "Bounnd demons do everything inn their power to escape or mmurder their captors. These creaturess have shown themselves to bee intelligent. Would they not do the same, iff given the freedom?"

Layl starts to chuckle nervously, her hobbies probably weren't normal...by any persons means. Well, no time to find out how weird they actually were. "Um, my hobbies are beating up peoples corrupted hearts and collecting Lux and materials from them for synthesizing cool gear...That's normal, right? O-other than that I like sightseeing, it's kind of something I do often since I have to travel the worlds to do my job" She stops tapping the table, her hand instead going to fiddle with one of the ribbons near her neck, trying to ease her nervousness. "Um...I also like tying ribbons, but I don't know if you could call that a hobby..." Yeah, Layl was confident that her hobbies were strange and weird, it's not her fault she wasn't normal! Her other hand came off of Nacht, as she finally pulled the ribbon out of it's loop and brought it down to the table to tie it into a basic flat knot, her hands twisting and turning the cloth into the familiar shape around her finger. "Ta-Da!" She presented it to Yoko by pointing the now adorned finger in her direction.

"I'm not really sure if that's normal or not, since I'm not from the same world as you," Yoko admitted when she was asked if Layl's first hobby was normal or not. She quietly listened to Layl as the other girl shared her hobbies with her, with Yoko having a few bites of her meal as she listened. When Layl started doubting whether she could really call what she liked doing hobbies, Yoko quickly started thinking of something to say to lift the other girl's spirits. "Well, there are people out there that like collecting seashells and they call it a hobby, so I don't see why you can't call your ribbon tying a hobby," she replied after a bit, hoping that her words would help make Layl feel better.
Yoko then watched with some curiosity as Layl started weaving her ribbon into a basic flat knot, and when Layl presented her now bow-adorned finger to her, Yoko praised the girl. The knot itself wasn't as extravagant as some of the work Yoko had done before, but Yoko decided to keep that to herself when she saw how proud Layl was of her own skill. "Hey, what did you mean by beating up people's corrupted hearts? Is it something like fighting evil monsters that are born from the hearts of people?" she asked then, going back to a thing Layl had mentioned earlier.

<Layl's first hobby sounds more like a job?> Iris thought to herself, unable to say what she wanted because she was still in the middle of this conversation with Shossk, <And what's this about beating people up to whack the corruption out of them? Is she some sort of magical girl?>.
To Shossk, she tried to answer in a way that made sense, "That's the thing, though. You have about as much control over it as you would have over me. Pokemon can be tamed and befriend but not... well... just look over at your Dartrix. Does it look like it wants to escape and murder you right now? Or at Layl's Zorua or Yoko's Remoraid. They're all willing to listen out of their own free will, even if that will happens to have been programmed into them by AL. Likewise, they can stop listening to you out of their own free will. Where I come from, at least, you have to respect your Pokemon as living, breathing, and thinking creatures. It's not just the right thing to do, but it's also because if you don't, your Pokemon probably won't listen to you, and since it's impossible for most people to understand their Pokemon... well... Then there goes any chance at working together."

Shossk stares at Iris for a moment. He glances at the dartrix, then turns back to Iris, his head lowering a scant few millimeters in the motion. "Howw vital to our success will thesse creatures be? I do not know iff I will be able to understand them."
The dartrix pauses at this, food still in mouth, to spin his head towards Shossk. He chokes down his food, then gives a low coo towards his trainer.

It didn't look like anyone was going to take up Iris's offer of trying out her strange, gelatinous blob, so she ate what she had on her spoon. While the flavors popped in her mouth like so many firecrackers, she mulled over how to answer Shossk. "Absolutely, I'd wager," she replied after swallowing, "I don't know anything about what we'll face, but my gut tells me that AL isn't the type to give us more than what we'll need. There's no fun in watching if there isn't a challenge, right? If you're still not sure, then I'll be showing you how to command them after we finish here. You should hold onto your judgement until then.". She scooped another spoon full of jelly to continue eating her fill as she turned around to a cupboard. Mind focusing on a variety of fruits and vegetables, she opened the cupboard hoping to find sustenance for the yet unfed herbivores of the group.

Shossk didn't say anything at that. He only spoke up when Iris went to return her food to get more. "You willl need to return the plate. The magic will nnot allow you more than one."

"Mrphg," was Iris's full-mouthed response to Shossk's helpful advice, given right as she opened the door to the empty cupboard. She had revealed a banana last time. How strange. Then again, that might have been because the gelatin was still in the fridge. Turning around, Iris downed what she had in her mouth and chewed over this newest dilemma. She wasn't sure how quickly she could finish the gelatin. Its flavor explosion certainly made it a treat, but she wasn't feeling hungry enough to eat it all...
Iris sighed and turned to Layl. Interrupting her little bonding period with Yoko, Iris called out, "Layl! Really sorry," she clapped both hands together and briefly closed both eyes before opening one in a gesture of, "but could you get some food out for the Pokemon? Dartrix is feeding happily on meat, but Zoruas and Remoraids are herbivores. If you could get out... um... fruits and vegetables. You know what? Berries. Yeah, berries are a safe bet. If you can get out any berries, they should be able to snack."

Layl unravels the ribbon once more, before quickly tying it back in it's proper place on her outfit. She began nodding as Yoko said almost exactly what they were. "In essence yes, Heartless are beings born form the darkness of the heart. They are what happens when a human becomes corrupted by darkness. If you have a strong enough will you can abate the process but you will eventually turn into one. It's only if you let yourself fall far into darkness that you have to worry...not that I would want to fall into it even a little..." After she says that she winces as she realized she has already started her own descent into darkness, at least if this Shade Caller was what she thought it was. Maybe it wasn't? A girl can dream.
Layl was just about to open her mouth again when she hears Iris ask for help, she nods to confirm she heard and headed over to the mysterious cupboard. So she just needed to imagine it supposedly, well no time like the present! Layl conjured to mind an image of a cornucopia filled with various fruits and veggies, mostly with gourds and corn, and the occasional pumpkin. Alongside the cornucopia she imagined a large glass with a Sea Salt Popsicle inside it. With that thought in mind she opened the cupboard.

While Layl pictured the complex layout in her head she got the impression of the image sticking and multiplying for a brief moment, when the cabinet fully opened the cornucopia sat there just as she had imagined it. It takes up most of the cabinet and some of it spills out onto the floor.

Yoko listened with great interest as Layl began to explain, and Yoko couldn't help but liken the Heartless to something out of a superhero show. "So what happens after you beat up these 'Heartless'? Do they explode and the person that spawned it goes back to normal?" Yoko then asked as Layl got up and walked over to the cupboards, twisting around in her seat to keep her attention on the other girl. Seeing the vast assortment of fruits and vegetables spill out of the cupboard caused Yoko to get up and walk over. "Here, let me help," she then said, already moving to pick up the food that fell onto the floor.

"Thank you! And...sadly no, they don't turn back...we purify the heart and it goes to Kingdom Hearts...at least that's what everyone says...I'm personally not really sure what all happens, but I know we can collect Lux from them afterwards" As she said this, Layl picked up the cornucopia, trying her best to keep it straight and prevent more of the fruit from spilling. She let out a grunt as She realized how heavy it actually was, but she managed to get over to the table before she dropped it, some of the fruit spilling out. Layl let out a few pants at the effort she exhausted. "That was harder....than I thought...maybe I shouldn't lift...heavy fruits"
She took a moment to rest, giving an apologetic look towards Yoko as she picked up what had spilt out of the cupboard and maybe a few from her weak hold on the cornucopia. Layl let out a few pants at the effort she exhausted. After gaining back, her breath she gave a shout to Nacht"Nacht! You should eat some fruit!" Nacht proceeded to ignore her offer, instead taking a husk of corn before scurrying under the table to naw at his prize.
