The plate is gone. That must mean-
Shossk catches himself. He slows down... and thinks again. Flank steak with blueberry sauce.
He opens the door.

The words "Flank Steak with Blueberry Sauce" catch in his head and echo back and forth. Once the door swings open he sees that there is, in fact, a steaming steak sitting there.

Shossk should not have this power. Gruumosh would have bodily removed Shossk from the room and destroyed the kitchen if he were there, for fear that Shossk would begin channeling Yeenoghu or Laogzed or some other god of insatiable gluttony.
As it stood there was no one to stop Shossk. First the steak in blueberry sauce, then veal chops in pomegranate syrup, then bacon coated in sugar, plate after plate of candied and sweetened meats traveled from refrigerator, to table, to mouth, and back again. Sometimes the table was skipped entirely as Shossk gorged himself on this once-rare treat.
The humans can likely ear the din all the way in the lobby, the distant sounds of dish clattering, meat tearing, and occasional hissing reaching out to them, with a blur of activity seen through the open doorway.
The dartrix at this point has wisely cleared out of the room, standing just outside gawking at the spectacle.

Eventually Yoko gives up on trying to figure out the purpose of the kiosk and steps away from it, and as she did so she felt a light rumble from within her, originating from her stomach. It was only then did Yoko realise how hungry she was, and her eyes drifted over to the door marked with the fork and knife symbol. She started walking towards it when she stopped herself. She had already wandered off on her own to satisfy her needs without asking if any of the others would like to join her - though in that case she could justify what she did as her wanting privacy - anyways! Before she went off in search of food, she first turned around to address Iris and Layl. "Hey, um, do you girls want to get something to eat? I'm feeling a little peckish myself, and I think I saw Shossk go in there earlier," Yoko offered; "I mean, if you don't want to, you don't have to, but I just thought I'd offer before I walked off (again)."

Layl was so startled by Iris' outburst that she froze for the whole speech. Shossk had ran off because of it, and there was no point in ignoring it, plus she seemed to be really passionate about it, might be a good time to get to know her for now. Layl turned back towards the shorter girl and tried to show as much enthusiasm back. "So, Eevee's are known for being able to evolve? Through the power of elemental stones? I often have to use stones like that to imbue equipment with powers back home, is it anything like that? Also, I would raise 20 of them, sure, but I would want to have settled down first before I take that task on!"
Nacht was still backpedaling away from Iris as the outburst from nowhere had scared the little guy, he just kept backing up until he ran into the wall. He started glaring at Iris for scaring him like that, his little tail hitting the ground angrily as he sat on his haunches.

Iris was more than okay with returning the enthusiasm Layl reflected back at her. However, just as she was about to answer, she found her mind... blank... She couldn't find the information she wanted to know, like it had been wiped from her knowledge. Of course, she'd already noticed that she had gaps in her knowledge, when she was looking into what she could and couldn't do. Still, Layl was asking now. Iris had to try. Spondered for a bit, finding that the information just wasn't there, only a memory of a memory of it. Concern causing her to frown and bite her lip, she tried for a good minute before shaking her head. She could not answer Layl's question, not as well as she would have wanted to, at least.
It was while she thought that Yoko suggested eating. Iris politely declined, "No, thank you. I'll eat a little later. I'd suggest you eat light as well, I think we should get to practicing Pokemon battles pretty soon," with a shake of her head and a wave of her hand. Of course, she also looked towards the kitchen from which various noises of concern originated. She couldn't see Shossk, but she could see the Dartrix. She didn't even need to channel the owl Pokemon to figure out what was happening. "Um... If you could," Iris did ask for a favor, "Try to restrain Shossk as well? It's not good to battle on an over-full stomach... usually..."
Then she turned to Layl, an apology practically written on her face. "Sorry about that," Iris explained herself as she rubbed her head, "I knew all about this before, but now... I think AL messed with my knowledge a bit along with my powers. I knew so much about stones and myths and the like, but now it's all gone... I feel like I remember that there used to be stories about legendary weapons crafted from the power of Pokemon, some interpretations might have used stones. I know that I used to make held items and accessories from shards I'd find while dowsing, but... man... I can't even remember how to dowse properly now."
Nacht went... unnoticed. The Zorua was tiny and, well, Iris still didn't feel very comfortable around his evolutionary line. Iris did hear his tail hitting the ground, but she didn't look at him, afraid of what kind of rude behavior she'd possibly show without meaning to.

Well, Layl was disappointed by this revelation. It was rather unfortunate that Iris' seemed to know nothing about the stones anymore. She herself often found them but admittedly the Moogle's held the art of synthesizing them into items, it was unfortunate that Iris couldn't teach her more on the subject. Layl's disappointment was obvious on her face as well. "That's too bad, these stones sounded interesting, and synthesizing is something I always wanted to learn... oh well. I'm not really in the mood either, Yoko, sorry" She shook her head, a sigh escaping her lips as her shoulders sagged. What Iris said was true though why she wanted the Pokemon to fight was concerning. "Why do you want us to practice Pokemon...battles, as you put it. These little guys look too young to be able to fight properly...if at all?"
Nacht's glare went from Iris to Layl in an instant at the perceived insult, He could totally fight! He just needed the opportunity to fight and he would show her how it's done.

Iris frowned at Layl, quite confused by what Layl meant about the Zorua looking too young. Now she had to look at Layl's Zorua, and when she did, her thoughts were only confirmed, <Yeah, he doesn't look young at all.> She said this out loud, "Yeah, he doesn't look young at all. What's more, they're supposed to be our partners in this game. Barring the creation of a moral dilemma to spice up the drama, I don't see why AL would give us a Pokemon that is too young to fight." To Iris, at least, it was all straightforward. There was no need to ask questions, not when a Pokemon was willing to fight, like this Zorua seemed to be saying with his glare right now. However, she understood how easy it was to think the other way. There were plenty of people in her world, entire organizations in fact, that believed in some variant of "making Pokemon fight is wrong. Before Layl could ask, Iris addressed this with her own take on the matter, "Now... I know it probably sounds terrible to you, making other creatures fight for us. There are a lot of people in my world who think like that, but not everything is black and white. In my experience, most Pokemon actually want to fight, or to put it in a better light, to challenge themselves and grow stronger. It's part of their basic instinct because of evolution. Like I said, though, not everything is black and white. There are also plenty of Pokemon and trainers, or rather owners, who live together without really caring for or maybe even vehemently hating battles. Really, it's up to you and your Zorua to figure out the answer yourselves. My advice, though, is to at least become familiar with commanding your Zorua. I'm sure your Pokemon, if he cares for you, will also like to know that there is something he can do to protect you, even if it is just as a last resort."

Layl blinked for a moment, not young at all? That seemed a bit weird, though she admitted that she knew nothing about Pokemon. She started looking back and forth between Iris and Nacht, finally realizing Nacht's glare. Why was he glaring at her? Did he understand her completely? He might have, plenty of animals show more intelligence based on the World. "Well...it sounds a bit strange, but if you'll show me how I'll give him a chance. If he can't keep up with me I'd prefer him to support us, We'll just have to see if he can fight proper or if we need to teach him some support powers....Which might be harder than I thought because I just realized that I don't have my Cure spells anymore...or any of my spells actually" And so Layl freaked out inside her head, checking over her info in detail realizing that most of her magic is gone. In fact only the basic magic of her Keyblade has been retained it seemed, and a spell she wasn't familiar with. Well now she definitely needed a partner. It seemed she was a fledgling yet again. Her face paled a bit as she turned to face Iris once more. Layl had this fake crooked grin on her face like something was horribly wrong but she didn't want to acknowledge it "Well apparently I'm not as strong as I thought, so maybe I will lose to the little guy, especially if he has magic, I don't think my knowledge was messed with like you, but my abilities certainly were."

After hearing both of their answers Yoko gave a light shrug and mumbled "at least I asked" to herself, before she then headed straight for the door the Dartrix was currently standing before. As she neared the door she could hear many noises coming from within, and she nervously peered around the door to look inside. Her eyes widened as she watched the lizardman wolf down many different kinds of glazed meat, many of which still appeared to have bones in them, and she grimaced whenever she heard the snapping of said bones. How was she supposed to stop the lizardman? Would he eat her if she tried to stop him? She suddenly felt very scared and nervous about having to deal with this, and she tightened her grip on Bang a little more. "H-hey, Shossk! Y-you should really slow down and savor your food!" she called out with some apprehension, nervously stepping into the room.

Shossk snaps his head around towards the voice to stare at Yoko, his pupils constricted to thin slits with a chunk of meat still in his jaws. He holds for a moment, blinks, and then, more slowly and with considerably more self control, tosses the meat chunk down his esophagus.
"Thiss... food is without end," Shossk breathes out, breathing heavily and rapidly licking the various glazes and juices smeared all over his maw. He gazes down at the tattered remains of pork on his plate. It had been a long time since he'd descended into a feeding frenzy, something his people did to gorge themselves with as much food as possible when either the site of a kill was unsafe or because there was too much meat and no way to preserve it. In the Grishak swamps, you never knew when your next meal was going to be. As an adventurer there was no need for this adaptation, but he'd also discovered sweetened meats since then, of which he was rarely able to enjoy. He supposed this new scarcity had brought that part out of him again.
It wasn't until now that he felt his stomach was straining, stretched uncomfortably near its limit. Shossk takes a deep breath and eases himself into a seat. "Youu are right. Ssuch feeding is not needed. I wass overcome by my ffavored meals. Tthey will be here when I returnn." Nevertheless, he continues to lick residue off his face and hands.
At this point the dartrix cautiously waddles in. He flutters up onto the table and starts pecking at and guzzling down scraps of meat still on the plate.

There was no way Yoko could hide the relief from her face when Shossk actually listened and stopped gorging himself, though she was still shaking with some nervousness. She carefully watched Shossk as she walked further into the room, not daring to take an eye off him for fear he'll just turn on her, and she found herself staring very intently at the lizardman's teeth and claws. She never noticed how sharp they were until now. They were also absolutely soaked with residue. "U-um, you said there was a bathroom, right? Y-you can wash your hands and face there, i-if you need to," she nervously suggested after a bit, hoping that the lizardman will take her advice and leave the room.

"I would bathe to wash away bllood or filth. There iss no need for me to wash," Shossk states, intently licking under a claw. He stops suddenly, eyes turning to Yoko. "Iff I repulse you then I will leave." There is no animosity or threat in his voice, just the same gravelly monotone he always has. Besides his unfeeling nature, it hadn't been the first time he'd been shooed away from an eating area. Usually it was his companions that did so, especially Veska.

"Right then," Iris proceeded, "We still have on more mystery terminal to figure out, but we can do that later. If it's some introductory training, we have everything we'll need. Training about Pokemon and training about how our new abilities work. Come on now, let's get the others." There was a wave of her hand to gesture that Layl should follow her and a smile that was trying to help dissipate the uncomfortable expression that had crossed Layl’s face. Layl’s discomfort reminded Iris that she needed to stay strong and collected.
Where was Iris going? To the kitchen of course, where everyone and their Pokemon was at. "Yo-ko!" Iris punned as she slid half of her body into the room, the "yo" being said in greeting followed by the "ko" to finish her new companion's name. Terrible greeting pun aside, Iris noticed, "Ah, you haven't gotten anything to eat yet, have you?..." That certainly clashed with the plans she had in mind.
She'd noticed that the rooms appeared to be self-containing. The onsen's steam did not leave its room. The bathroom was flooding to at least ankle-height by now without a drop of water spilling outside. Iris made an educated guess that food from the kitchen would not make it outside. She could be wrong, but she didn't want to test it out at the moment. After some obvious contemplation, Iris shrugged with a smile, and if Layl happened to have followed along, she would grab Layl’s wrist and walk into the kitchen with her. ”I suppose a light meal before some exercise never hurt anyone,” she reasoned with absolutely no basis for the certainty she spoke with, ”Come on, Layl, and Yoko, looks like we’ll take you up on your invitation to eat together. Shoss, you probably ate already, but sit with us anyways. Did you feed your Dartrix? No, doesn't look like it. I'll get something for him and the other Pokemon to eat.” She did notice that Yoko looked nervous, but Yoko had been looking nervous, like, at least 80% of the very short time Iris had seen her. Her intuition (incorrectly) told her that it was just because of the general situation and not about anything specific, so Iris rolled with it.

Just before Yoko could give Shossk a response she heard her name being called, and she turned to see Iris standing in the doorway. She internally groaned at how terrible Iris' pun was, but she didn't let it show on her face. When she was asked if she had anything to eat yet, she shook her head and replied, "no, I haven't yet." She didn't want to admit that she had been scared by Shossk, but she couldn't conceal her nervous glancing back at the lizardman every now and then. She impatiently waited for Iris to get to the point, in which time her glancing back at the lizardman started to increase in frequency. Hearing the decision to eat together lifted Yoko's worries a little, up until the point she heard Shossk will be joining them, and her eyes widened a little and she glanced back at the lizardman once more. "Um... o-okay," she nervously agreed after a brief delay, finally pulling her eyes away from Shossk and focusing on Iris (and Layl, if she walks in as well).

Nacht decided to follow Iris silently, she was giving him a chance to fight after all. Layl on the other hand, was confused on the fact she had clearly said she wasn't in the mood to eat. She sighed and shook her head, before walking after Iris. No reason for her to not join them, even if she doesn't eat, they can still talk. There's no problem with joining them for that. "I'm going to pass on the food, but I'll join you all simply because it will give us a chance to talk more, besides, maybe Nacht is hungry. Plus I haven't even said much to Yoko at all, no time like the present!"

"Did you feed your Dartrix? No, doesn't look like it. I'll get something for him and the other Pokemon to eat.” The dartrix spins his head around at Iris, beak full of glazed pork. He chokes it down, not unlike his trainer before him.

Iris had been walking to the refrigerator and by the time the Dartrix spins his head to her, she had reached her destination. "Fine. Fine. I won't worry about you then," she laughed as she opened the door, an assortment of berries filling her mind. When she looked into the fridge, she expected to see a bowl of berries. However, that was not to be case. Instead, the gelatinous cube stared back at here, right where she had lifted. Iris stared back. Iris closed the door and reopened it thinking of berries and fruit. The cube remained.
Unconcerned with any electricity bill it might raise, Iris stared at the cube of mishmash with the door open for who knows how long. Eventually, though, she reluctantly takes it out and sets it upon the table without a word, closing the refrigerator door behind her like a good kid. Part of her wants to throw it out. Part of her was now curious. Bravely and boldly, Iris sets off to find a spoon, and when she finds one in a drawer, she returns with it. Spoon in hand, she digs out a very, very, very small scoop of the gelatin and taps her tongue against the sliver of a sliver of mystery food.

"I don't really know what we could talk about though," Yoko admitted when Layl brought up how little they've interacted with each other, before then turning her attention to the rather large jelly cube that Iris had pulled out of the fridge. No matter how she looked at it, it just looked like a cube of jelly. What was wrong with that? Just staring at the cube reminded Yoko of her near-empty stomach, so she turns her attention to the various cupboards and lone fridge. What am I in the mood for... Yoko mulled over what she wanted to eat at that current moment, and after a while she gripped the door handle of the fridge and opened it while imagining her chosen dish: katsudon.
