Since Shossk finished his display of Orders, Iris focused her attention on Yoko. It looked like the girl took inspiration from the Lizardfolk's impressive display. Good, that was a great way to learn. Iris waited patiently as the gears turned in Yoko's head, and when she started speaking, Iris nodded encouragingly. Yoko started a little passively and intimately for orders that needed to be given in a fight when she and Bang probably wouldn't be next to each other. It was a little long... No... it was still going. Yoko was still talking, and even when it became clear that this not going to work in a fight, Iris just didn't have the heart to stop Yoko's precious first attempt. Yoko just looked like she was trying so hard and so diligently.
However, it was clear this wasn't going to work. Not only was it too long, Iris noticed that Bang was also confused about what he should be taking from the long-winded message. "Y-yoko," Iris reluctantly called out to her punnily named companion. A hand landed equally reluctantly on Yoko's shoulder. Said hand clenched the shoulder and pulled upward, not enough to force anyone but enough for Yoko to feel what Iris wanted. If it wasn't obvious, then fear not because Iris made what her hand wanted clear, "Yoko, first of all stand up. You don't want to be kneeling and talking to your Remoraid in the middle of a fight," as well as a few other things, "So... good words. Great for training, which I forgot to talk about, so thank you. However, you're taking too long. Cut it short. Um... like... short reminders, I guess. Maybe something like taking only one part of what you said and using that. You can cycle through the rest over the course of a fight. Does that make sense?". Iris's hand had since lifted from Yoko's shoulder to make little motions here and there to represent what she was talking about. She didn't look too sure of herself because she couldn't think of a single example to give. If it was her commanding either Turk or Amy, then she could get away with what Yoko did by virtue of channeling. However, Yoko didn't have that... At least, Iris didn't think Yoko did. The four of them would need to come together later to figure out what they each did. Despite her hesitation, though, Iris finished on a rather deadpan note, "Also, send your Remoraid out a little further. See how fast it can move because I promise you these fish can move on land just... just not very far... at all, but that can be fixed with training if you put effort into it. Your orders need to be able to make an impact on your Pokemon from afar, anyways. I mean, it's not like you're planning on only training Bang and holding him whenever you fight, right?"

Hearing Iris call her name and feeling a hand rest on her shoulder, Yoko turned around to look up at Iris and asked, "yes, Iris?" Since she was asked to stand up, Yoko did so, returning back to her full height, then listened quietly as Iris began pointing out the issues with her orders. It definitely saddened her that she screwed up her first attempt, but she tried her best to not let it show through. "Y... yeah. I understand," Yoko answered with a weak nod of her head, her tone and actions betraying a hint of sadness.
When asked what she was planning on doing with Bang during a fight, Yoko went quiet once again, though it wasn't because she was avoiding the answer. She honestly didn't know the answer herself, but after a while she gave a weak shrug of her shoulders and answered, "maybe. I don't know. I didn't think about it." Yoko then turned her attention back to Bang, who was still looking up at her expectantly. "Bang, can you, um, go over there? I-if you can, that is," she asked in an unsure voice, pointing over to a stray patch of grass about 4 meters away. Bang's eyes followed his trainer's pointing finger, and he started flopping his body in an effort to move over to the indicated patch of grass.
It took the Remoraid a good amount of time (roughly 40 seconds, if someone was counting) to finally reach the designated patch of grass, and Yoko bit her lower lip nervously as she turned to see Iris' reaction. "I think it might be better if I just hold Bang," she said then, feeling that it would be the best course of action after witnessing that display.

After Layl and Nacht had a moment to themselves, Layl finally picked up on the fact everyone had moved on to Orders when she overheard Iris explaining Yoko that she didn't need to do it like she had been...not that Layl knew how she had been, she and Nacht were kind of not paying attention a few minutes ago. So, Orders? Let's see how well that works. Layl looked at Nacht, giving him a nod as she pointed toward one of the training dummies. "Alright Nacht, It's time to show me how fierce you can be! Rip it to shreds with Fury Swipes!"
AC:5 Roll: 18 Five Strike: 2, 2 hits Damage: 20 Nacht nodded and ran at the dummy, jumping up towards it's chest and giving two swipes of it's claws, ripping out some stuffing, but not doing much more than that. Regardless, Nacht looked back with a pleased look on his face, puffing up his chest as if he had done amazingly.

Shossk and the dartrix stare at Bang as it slowly flops along, tracking it with their heads.
Their attention shifts as Nacht receives his orders and oh-so-viciously tears into the training dummy. The results were not impressive, but Shossk could tell it had been close to a critical hit. Shossk brings his hands up and starts slapping them together, awkwardly imitating Iris' motions when she applauded the dartrix's strike. This was a suitable time to applaud, was it not? His companions had taken him to two separate tournaments, and the crowds seemed to applaud even marginal success by the competitors, though not as fervently. Shossk continues clapping for a few seconds too long before abruptly dropping his hands to his sides.
He looked back to Yoko. He glances between her and Bang. "Yyou have not ordered your creature to attack. Iff you are not a leader, thenn direct it to fight as you do."

When Yoko turned to see Iris's reaction, Iris, who had been attentively observing Bang, gave a smile and a thumbs up. She just wanted Yoko to know what her Remoraid could do on land alone. What Yoko did after learning that was up to her. Iris had already mentioned that training could somewhat fix the problem, so she didn't repeat such information as it wasn't important. Some very awkward clapping captured Iris's attention before she said anything to Yoko, and she looked around until she saw that Layl and Nacht had caught up to the rest of them. Nacht looked happy, which was good. Layl looked happy, which appeared to be pretty standard. Seeing that the pair was doing just fine, Iris returned her attention to Yoko. "Go on," Iris encouraged, her words coming after Shossk's, and hinted at what was to come, "and after this, we'll hold some mock battles so you guys can see what types do and why they're important. Don't worry, there seems to be a Pokemon Center- er... I mean. One of the computers looks like it can heal your Pokemon."

Nacht was emboldened by Shossk's clapping, puffing up his little chest and looking like the proudest puffball the world over, Layl joined in, after a moment. The move could have done much better, but encouragement helps one to grow, besides, they were training, nothing too serious. After giving Nacht some attention, Layl turned towards the group, particularly Yoko, to give encouragement. "I know you can do it! Give it your all, Yoko!"

Yoko nervously looked around at her teammates as they each gave her words of encouragement, now feeling pressured to succeed. She couldn't bring herself to tell Shossk that she hadn't actually fought for real, and as such she couldn't follow that part of his advice. However, the directing part gave Yoko another idea, and she turned back to Bang. "Okay, Bang! Don't rush. Take your time to line up the shot, then fire! Use Water Gun on that training dummy!" she called out to Bang as she pointed to the training dummy that they had attacked before. With clear instructions to work with, Bang turned to the training dummy and narrowed his eyes, before then shooting yet another strong torrent of water at the training dummy. Yoko used Focused Orders on Bang. Bang then used Water Gun on the Training Dummy. AC 4: (13) + 1 = 14 Damage: (4 + 1) + 8 + 20 + 10 = 43 Water-Typed Special Damage Once the attack was over, Yoko turned around to look back at the other three expectantly. She got it right this time, right? She wasn't sure if she got it right, but she had a feeling that she got it right. But she wanted to be sure, hence why she was looking at the other three expectantly. After a while, though, she realised she hadn't actually asked for their opinion yet, and she quickly corrected that. "Did I do it right? I feel like I got it right this time. Hey, I did it right, right?!" she asked nervously, her eyes flickering to each of her companions in turn.

Iris was no expert, but it looked like everything worked out. When Yoko turned to her and the others for their opinions, Iris gave her full support with a smile and the words, "Yep. I'd say that you did. Good job, Yoko and Bang." It wasn't just Yoko and Bang who deserved praise, though. Everyone else did as well. They'd all progressed really quickly, and Iris expressed this as she turned to face the others, "You all as well. Good job, everyone. Alright, one last thing about Pokemon battles and I'll discuss training, which is exactly what it sounds like. After that, we'll be done, and we can discuss what to do next." She walked backwards as she talked, her steps taking her into a position where she could address everyone at once.
"Now," Iris started to explain the next step, pausing after the first word for dramatic effect before continuing, "like I said, we're going to run a mock battle to get used to Pokemon types and what they do. Let's get set up on the field. Um... I know that there are only two trainer spots, so just set up anywhere on field in a sort of triangle. Have your Pokemon about... um... I think 4 meters apart is a good start?". To make the room needed, Iris brought the dummies down, sinking them back into the dirt floor. Just to make sure everyone was on the same page, Iris double-checked, "Are we all okay with this idea? Or would we rather not?". After all, Iris could always just explain types and their importance. It wasn't impossible, just long-winded like everything else.

Layl gave herself a moment at Iris' request, letting herself think it over. A spar wouldn't be bad, it would help her and Nacht bond, though admittedly, Layl thought she was a bad leader. She's better off at charging in than actually giving commands. After mulling this all over, Layl turned towards Iris and gave her a nod. "Okay Nacht, you heard her so get in position! I'm pretty bad at this so feel free to do what you want if you think I'm making dumb choices, okay boy?" And now she was treating him like a dog, and she knows it wasn't well received by the half-lidded stare she was receiving.
Nacht rolled his eyes at her after a moment, before trudging on over to the middle of the field and getting ready for a fight. He gave Layl a nod to confirm he heard her and began looking around, staring firmly at Yoko and Shossk for a moment, and then turning towards the Dartix, giving the owl the same treatment as he memorized their forms in his head.

Yoko was very hesitant to jump straight into a mock battle so soon, but after a while she could see a few reasons and benefits, with the most important one being familiarization. If she could familiarize herself with how these Pokémon battles are supposed to work now through this mock battle, then she'll feel much more confident later on when she ends up in a real battle. After coming to this conclusion, Yoko gives a nod to Iris and responds, "sounds good to me." Yoko then walks over to Bang and picks him up, then walks onto the field and sets herself and Bang up on the field. Once she and Bang were set up on the battlefield, she turned back to Iris and posed her a question. "How are we supposed to do this? Do we just, like, have our Pokémon beat each other up?" she asked.

(Welp, when I was told the internet would be back up Friday, they meant next week, not today. I can still post, but it'll have to be short and without formatting tools.)
Shossk nods an affirmative before moving to a spot roughly 4 meters equidistant from the others, the dartix fluttering over next to him. The owl spins his head to look at each of the other combatants(?) in turn.

"Well, normally, you'd be right, Yoko," Iris answered with a smile, surveying the three surveying Pokemon in a very relaxed manner. She had one leg crossed behind the other and her hands clasped behind her head. Once it looked like everyone had settled and got their fill of looking at each other, she continued with a clap of her hands, "However, before I let you loose, let's run some demonstrations on types. As a short introduction, Pokemon types determine the strengths and weaknesses of Pokemon and their damaging moves. For instance, one of the first type matchups we learn is grass and water. That being said, Shossk, your Dartrix is a grass type, and Yoko, your Bang is a water type. Why don't you two try ordering your Pokemon to attack each other with a move that's their type? Remember, make sure that Bang hits Dartrix with a water type move and Dartrix hits Bang with a grass type move. Um... For now, don't use orders. We don't want to try to seriously hurt each other... any more than they're already going to get hurt."
<Hm... and what to do about Nacht?> Iris wondered to herself after giving her instructions. In this trio, Nacht's typing made things a little awkward. A little feeling in the back of her head told her that there might be something in the move lists of the others to solve this dilemma, but the only way she knew how to get that sort of information was to channel the Pokemon. Honestly, Iris admitted to herself, <I sort of wanted to save that... for whenever I got to speak to my Zorua.> However, there wasn't really any point in saving herself like that. With a mental sigh hidden by the more dominant thoughtful expression on Iris's face as she watched the results and reactions of her instructions, Iris waited for the moves of Dartrix and Bang to resolve themselves. Then, once there was no chance of causing a slip-up, Iris very politely attempted to channel Dartrix (swift action) and then Bang (standard action turned into swift action). Usually, friendly Pokemon didn't mind her presence in their minds... but she also couldn't blame them if they were wary of the intimacy channeling brought.
If her channeling was admitted, Iris wouldn't attempt to force it if she was turned away, then Iris's primary objective were the moves that the Pokemon knew. Due to the nature of channeling, though, she'd probably also get other bits of information in the process.

"Um, okay," Yoko replied to Iris, and then returned her focus to Bang. "Bang, use Water Gun on Dartrix," she instructed, and Bang in response fires off his most powerful non-crit Water Gun at the Blade Quill Pokémon. Bang's Speed is 15 and has no Initiative modifiers, so his total Initiative is 15. Bang will be using Water Gun (AC 4) on Dartrix, rolled an 11 for the Accuracy Check. If it hits, it will deal 50 Water-Typed Special Damage. When Iris attempts to channel Bang she is quickly met with what appears to be a reflexive resistance, though it quickly passes when Bang realizes it's Iris, and soon enough a connection is established. The earliest memory Iris can see in Bang's memories is the first time he was sent out of his Poké Ball and met his new trainer. At this time in Bang's memories, the emotions that Iris can feel are curiosity towards his new trainer and discomfort at being summoned on land. The next memory Iris can see turns out to be a sequel to the first memory, as she once again gets to watch Yoko's panicked flailing, this time from Bang's perspective. As it turns out, Bang was also confused about why his trainer was panicking so much over him being out of water, though it made him extremely happy to know that his trainer actually showed a lot of care for his well-being. Through the next memory, Iris gets to see what was behind the door with the flexing arm symbol: a room filled with many exercise machines and weights. For the most part Bang felt indifferent towards this room and its various equipment, though that was completely replaced by excitement when he saw the see-through water tanks that housed strange training equipment within. His heart started racing when Yoko started carrying him up to one of these tanks, and Iris can feel just how eager Bang was to get in the water. Unfortunately, his trainer decided against it out of concern that the water might be poisonous to him. While Bang was definitely happy that his trainer cared so much for him, that was completely outweighed by how devastated he was feeling about not getting a chance to go swimming. In the next memory, however, Iris is hit by a wave of happiness and excitement. It was the hot spring room. That excitement started turning into despair when Yoko started walking back towards the door, and Iris could hear and feel Bang's anguishes at the feeling of being denied a chance to swim in the hot spring. However, Yoko instead closed the door, and Bang's anguishes were quickly replaced with confusion. Yoko then turned back to and walked around the hot spring once before setting Bang down on what appears to be storage lockers, with Bang growing even more confused. Bang then watched Yoko strip out of her gear and stored them in one of the storage lockers, and was then once again picked up by a now naked Yoko. Revelation then dawned on the Remoraid as he was carried into the hot spring by Yoko, and his excitement and happiness escalated to new heights. He's finally able to swim! He wriggled a little in Yoko's grip to send the message to his trainer that he wanted to swim, and his trainer granted him his wish after a delay. Iris could then feel through Bang a feeling of absolute bliss and contentment. The water was perfect, and it just sapped away all of the Remoraid's worries. Through the channel, Bang recommends to Iris that she should absolutely go soak in the hot spring if she ever needs to relax, and an audible female sigh informs Iris that Yoko was probably feeling exactly the same way. Iris is then treated to the rather amusing memory of Yoko accidentally ordering Bang to use Water Gun. Bang, not knowing any better, promptly blasted Yoko in the face with a way watered down version of the move, and watches his trainer stare back at him with a stunned looked on her face. A little bit after that funny moment happened, Yoko had decided that she was finished, and Bang watched his trainer exit the hot spring and walk back over to the storage locker. Iris is thankfully (or regretfully?) spared of any further shows from Yoko, as Bang decided to return back to his lazy swim about in the hot spring, content to enjoy the luxury a little bit longer. When it was finally his turn to leave the hot spring, a fully rearmed Yoko christened him with a name, which completely flipped around Bang's sadness at leaving the hot spring into happiness. The final few memories Iris can gloss over since she was present for those scenes, and the only feelings that Bang had of these moments were content and happiness. The memory slideshow then ends at that point and Iris can feel Bang waiting expectantly for her to ask any questions or comments.

Bang's water jet is considerable, but even so the water seems to flow off of the dartrix's leafy plumage (taking 21 damage).
Shossk nods. "Sstrike with your Leafage attack. It iss less damaging."
The dartrix ruffles the water out of his feathers, then launches a clump of foliage at the remoraid. Unfortunately it flops out of the way at the last second, and the attack leaves a pock mark in the ground. Again the dartrix spins his head to see if his trainer saw, then strikes the ground again, because that's totally what he meant to do!
Shossk paid no heed, instead focusing on the flopping remoraid. "I undersstand you do not wish to be harmmed, but this demonstration is pointlesss if you avoid the attack." The dartrix's eyes widen in recognition, and he spins back around to glare at Yoko and Bang. Yeah, he didn't miss, the fish jumped out of the way when he wasn't supposed to!
The dartrix is shocked out of his mock anger when Iris begins channeling him, though he does allow her in after a moment or two.
Like with Bang, Iris gets the information she wants, as well as some insight into what he and Shossk have been up to. Of note is Shossk's bathroom adventure, where the lizardman decided to start flooding the bathroom before just laying down in the tub underneath the water for a few minutes. The dartrix didn't understand that, was he a fish? And then there was the kitchen incident, and the image of the huge lizard ravaging the endless stream of meat in a frenzy continues to be a genuine concern to the owl Pokemon. Iris can feel an uneasiness concerning Shossk that accompanies the owl's eagerness to please.

In response to the accusations, Bang blinks his eyes a few times before then tilting his head (body?) in a quizzical manner, and Iris gets a feeling very akin to "why wouldn't I avoid it?" From Bang's perspective, it's only natural to want to avoid an attack aimed at you. Yoko, meanwhile, quickly gives an apologetic bow and nervously shouts, "s-sorry! We won't try to avoid the next attack if we can help it!" She held the bow for a few extra seconds, before then slowly returning to a normal standing position and turning to face Iris. "D-do we need to try again? O-or is that good enough?" she hesitantly asked.

The moves resolved, and Bang had seemed to sense some sort of instinctive fear for the Grass type attack that caused him to reflexively dodge from it. At least Bang's move had hit, though, showing a good case for the resistance example. Despite the power the attack seemed to pack, Dartrix only looked half as damaged as he should have been... literally. "Alright. Alright," Iris said mostly meaninglessly, buying herself a few seconds to adjust to channeling Dartrix and Bang while also deciding on what to do. In that time, she decided, "Well, yes, I suppose we should try that again, for the sake of comparison. A word of warning, it will hurt. When Bang hit Dartrix, the Water type move was not very effective against Dartrix's Grass typing. I'm not sure if you saw, but Dartrix didn't seem to take as much damage as he should have against the move, which was, by the way, very nicely executed. Good boy, Bang. Of course, as hard as the Water Gun hit, it still hurt. It just hurt less. This time, though, we're going to do the opposite. As Grass is super effective against Water, Bang is actually going to take more damage then he looks like he should. I think it's important to see both sides to really understand what super effective and not very effective mean." That was all the trainer said on the topic even though she knew she could have suggested that Dartrix could try holding back on his attack since it was going to hurt or that Remoraid should hold still and take the attack as an example. However, such decisions were up to the trainers and their Pokemon. Not to mention, as much as this was just a demonstration, it could also be considered practice. Dartrix just got a taste of the difficulty of hitting a moving target, even if the target is only a fish. Yoko and Bang, heck even Iris, weren't going to like it, but they were about the feel the pain of a super effective attack.
As for channeling, Iris received more than she expected from both of her targets. Dartrix was willing to share anything she wanted to know, but Bang was almost too eager to please, almost like a little puppy. The thought made her smile. Well, at least until she had to tell Bang to man up and get hit by something she knew would hurt him a lot. That... was hard to smile through. Iris just looked really apologetic. The memories of the past hour from two Pokemon was a lot to shuffle through, too much for what little time Iris had. Luckily, it seemed that AL hadn't touched her ability to handle the information that streamed in when she channeled, and she succeeded in grasping a brief understanding of the main points without her mind flooding. More importantly, she did gt a hold of what she channeled for in the first place, the move sets of Bang and Dartrix.
Bang's moveset was actually perfect. He had exactly the move type Iris needed to include Nacht and Layl into this demonstration, which was especially great because Iris had been at a loss on what to do with Nacht and Layl. While the Shossk pair and Yoko pair prepared, Iris dropped a hint for the Layl pair, "Nacht, Layl, after this move connects, I'll be needing the two of you, so hold tight for a bit." She didn't let it slip that she really just needed Nacht to take an attack, mostly because she was wary of what trick the Zorua pulled if it turned out that he wasn't happy for such an outcome. It would be fine in the end, though. It wasn't like Nacht would be taking any damage.
So far, so good. Even though Iris had called it a mock battle, she wasn't sure if they'd actually get to start battling. It was sort of just the first phrase she could think of to explain the idea of everyone's Pokemon hitting each other. Either way, she was glad that the participants hadn't actually begun to battle. Nice and orderly was a great way to keep things on track.

Layl snapped to attention when she heard her name. Honestly she wasn't paying attention until that moment, having ignored the things happening before her. Elemental weaknesses were a pretty common thing back home and honestly she didn't really need a review on it. "I think we're good Iris, It's just a lecture on elemental weaknesses and strengths. Don't use fire on a fire guy, and don't use thunder on grounded foes. Simple stuff like that, right? It's all basic common sense." Layl nodded to herself as she remembered her own past experiences. Everything made perfect sense to her. Ice and Fire are opposites so they beat each other. Lightning and Wind were the same in that regard. She really didn't need a review for this.
Nacht let out a yawn as he had eventually just decided to lay down. He had been itching for a fight but it seemed they were jus doing dumb stuff without him. He opened and eye and looked over at Iris when she said his name, but otherwise just continued to laze on the ground.

Seeing Shossk turn to her for her opinion, Yoko replies, "I think I understand the gist of it, so I'm good to continue as well."
