You awaken to brilliant white light and questions sleeting through your head. The random and nonsensical questions echo back and forth inside your skull until you answer them. Finally, after what seems like years the questions grind to a halt. The light fades away and you find yourself in a strange circular room, the walls and ceiling look knobbly and organic and are a bleached white. A raised dais sits in the center with four plinths on it. You see another figure across from you. Out of the corner of your eye, you can see that there are two other figures, one on your left and another on the right. Before you can get your bearings a towering inferno of blue flame explodes to life at the center of the room. A sneering face materialized within, always seeming to face in your direction, it speaks with a raspy voice that washes over you like waves of heat.
“Oh hey! You all finally finished the questionnaire, about time too. Great! You can call me AL!”
The face closes one eye in an awkward facsimile of a wink.
“I guess I’ll give you the spiel then. I’ve brought you here to play the Game! You will use the creatures that inhabit this place to complete certain challenges. Do so and you’ll be rewarded, fail and well… I always have new teams running through. Entertain me and we’ll get along fine.”
AL makes a crackling sound that could be construed as laughter if you stretched the definition a bit.
“Now then, you four will make a team. Together you have three main goals. The first is to reach the end of eight… let’s call em’ “zones”. Navigate them and defeat the creature guarding the exit and you can move on to the next. Complete all eight and you can move onto the final challenge. The second goal is to defeat other teams, every time you do so I’ll give you something big. Thirdly, keep it interesting!”
The billowing fire shifts and sputters, four protrusions reached out and touch the top of the plinths. They retract a deposit a strange assortment of items on each.
“Based on your answers to your questionnaire you each have been assigned a “class” a “starter and an assortment of items, once I’ve finished take the package nearest to you. If you concentrate on the word “class” you’ll find all the information you need has been placed inside that tiny skull of yours. Now, one moment.”
The fire seems to swirl in one direction as the face screws up in concentration. The walls of the room begin to ripple and flow like water until they create eight archways. As you gaze through them you can see picturesque landscapes beyond. One’s a desert, another is a castle on a hill, yet another is a city with building haphazardly strewn about. A few strange contraptions flow out of the ground, glassy screens glowing.
“That should be it then. If you need to get in touch feel free to call.”
With that, the pillar shrinks as quickly as it appeared and vanishes. Leaving the four of you alone together.

Layl gives out a loud sigh as she looks around, making sure to pat down her clothes to check how damaged they were. Finding herself with magically repaired clothes, she quickly turns to wave at her fellow teammates. "Hello there! It's nice to make your acquaintance. You all can call me Layl!"
She gives a small curtsy as she says it, her mouth turning up into a smile, and her eyes crinkling slightly as she tilts her head to the side. The sight around her wasn't even a single bit unusual to her, so she took it all as casual as she could. She quickly shifted her weight and began skipping towards the plinth before her, eyes widening as she stared at the vaguely, key-shaped blade stabbed into it like it was her own heart. She shakes her head and grabs the weapon fast, flipping it in her hand into her normal, reverse style grip.

After the pillar of flame had receded, Yoko took a long moment to take in her surroundings. Where in the world is she? The last thing she remembered was being in the talent agency's waiting room, where she was getting ready for her interview. She remembered there not being a door when she went to leave and the lights going out, but after that, she cannot recall anything. How did she get here? Had she been knocked out and kidnapped? Who are these people? Why is there a lizardman? What is this "Game"? Who is this "AL"? She had so many questions to ask, and she had doubts that any of these people would know the answer. For now, all she can do is play along.
That face in the fire said we were supposed to take the package nearest us, Yoko recalled, looking over to plinth nearest her and walking towards it. On it, there was six small red-and-white balls (one of which has a water drop symbol a little bit above the button), five spray bottles labelled "Potion", two yellow-gold-ish octahedrons labelled "Revive", a sleeping bag, a tent bag, a flashlight, a first aid kit, a water filter, and three different weapons of a simple quality: a katana, a bō ((OOC: it's a quarterstaff of Eastern origin)), and a composite bow complete with a quiver of arrows. The weapons and survival stuff she could understand, but what was the other stuff for?
There was also thankfully a backpack, so Yoko spent some time putting everything but the weapons the ball with the water drop symbol into the backpack, then turned her attention to the ball she didn't put away. Why is this one different from the others? she thought as she turned it over in her hands, before then experimentally pressing the button on the ball. The ball suddenly expanded to a size that fit perfectly in her hand, much to Yoko's surprise, and when she pressed the button again it shrank back to its small, compact size. "Cool," she cooed in awe of the device, before then pocketing it away and turning her attention to the three weapons. She experimentally picked up each weapon in turn and tested their weight, gave a quick nod of approval, and then put them away also ((OOC: I don't know how, so don't ask how)).
With her backpack all loaded up, Yoko finally turns her attention to the three strangers in the room with, then considered whether she should introduce herself to them. After some careful consideration, she decided that it would be a good idea to do so, especially since AL said they would be working together from this point forward. Deep breaths, Yoko. You can do this. Remember your time in the drama club, she told herself as she looked down, took in a deep breath, held it for a moment, then exhaled, calming herself down. When she lifted her head, she beamed a brilliant smile, and confidently crossed the room towards the others. "Good day, everyone. My name is Yoko Miyamoto, but you can call me Yoko if you'd like. Since we're going to be working together for the foreseeable future, let's all get along, shall we?" she introduced herself to the others, giving a stylish yet polite bow as she did so.

A subtle tension. That one was anxiety or restlessness, yes? An unpleasant feeling that had crept its way into Shossk's being, likely due to being in an unfamiliar place with three unfamiliar humans, he concluded for himself. It was very rare that his companions left him unsupervised with people he did not know, people that would be very likely to take exception to his visage and mannerisms.
The towering bipedal lizard strode forward to the plinth with a softness of foot that belied his size, turning to study each human in turn through slitted pupils. All of them had a slightness of frame that seemed to indicate they were all female, but he couldn't be sure of that. In fact he wasn't sure if the smallest one was a human or an exceptionally tall halfling. All these human-like races tend to look the same.
The humans take turns introducing themselves, but Shossk finds it difficult to pay much attention.
"I amm Shossk," says flatly, his voice deep and slightly gravelly, yet his speech is clear and carefully modulated. He turns his attention back to where AL's face had disappeared.
Along with the tension he notes that his innards feel... heavier than they should be. What is this feeling? It was unpleasant, and it was accompanied by a question.
"Where are myy companions?" The lizardman asks into the empty air, putting emphasis on seemingly random words, like someone who isn't quite used to speaking Common and wants to make sure he is understood. "Are they ssafe?"

Shossk feels a brief flash, an image of each of his companions emerging from a portal one after the other which then closes behind them. He sees confusion begin to set into their faces as the sudden premonition fades.

In his mind's eye Shossk notes each of them: Torvin, Lianna, Grumosh, and he focuses especially on Veska. Shossk feels the weight lift away from his innards, but as he notices his companions look about, presumably for him, the feeling is supplanted by a twisting tightness. The last thing he sees is the little kobold, Veska, throwing a stone at the empty air where the portal just was as she chastised him for being a 'stupid idiot crocodile-brain', before the vision fades. Shossk blinks, his mouth hanging open slightly as he gazes at the empty air. After a moment he seems to come to, looking down and busying himself with the plinth's offerings. Apparently they were supplies to help them in this AL entity's 'game', each plinth's offerings tailored to their corresponding 'player'. There was a recurve bow and a quiver of arrows, some bags of caltrops and smoke bombs (which Shossk seems to recall making, somehow?), some medicinal items and basic travel supplies, and then there are some more exotic items. What's strange is that despite not having seem several of the items, Shossk already seems to know what they are. There were two bundles of magic cloth: a pair of enchanted foot wraps that grant additional speed (Running Shoes) as well as a cloak whose color and patterning shift to hide the wearer depending on what's behind them (Stealth Clothes), both items tailored to Shossk's prodigious size. Finally there were five strange spheres. Four of them were identical, but the fifth had a symbol engraved on the front, of a winged bullseye. Unlike with the other items, Shossk had no idea what these objects were. Items accounted for, Shossk once again looks up to the three humans. "I am Shossk," he repeats. "I amm of the lizardfolk. Being away ffrom my companions is unpleasant. I wissh to return to them."

It was supposed to have been over. Except, Iris didn't get to return home. Quite the opposite, in fact. She now stood, once again, somewhere she was not only completely unfamiliar with but also had no reason to believe she would ever end up at. This time, at least, she wasn’t alone. Three others, two human girls and a Pokemon, stood with her, surrounding a floating head of fire that nearly imitated various facial expressions, dipping into the uncanny valley.
Too many questions and not enough answers floated through Iris’s head, so she focused, refusing to be drag herself down with uncertainty that she could not fix. First, she needed information. She listed closely to the fire head’s talk so that she would not miss any of the precious information that the head gave to everyone, but also keeping in mind that everything could be a lie or half-truth. Then, in a little bit, she would need to inspect her equipment, which had just been deposited in a shower of fire upon the marble(?) plinth in front of her. Suspicious and more than a little iffy to be using items created or even just summoned in such a manner, but she would need to make do with what was given. Beggars couldn’t be choosers, after all. She’d learned that already.
Once the explanation ended, though, and the eight ways rose out of the ground for the gamers to choose from, Iris drew her attention inward to her most important piece of equipment: her body, which now felt just a little bit off. Checking the class thing AL mentioned showed her why. Her stats had, in a sense, been dropped to a lower level and rearranged. She had lost a lot and gained very little. Annoying, but not the biggest problem. She could always relearn about the gems and legends she had forgotten and as she still had her gifts, she just needed to retrain them. No, there were things she missed far more than her powers.
<Gerard. Xenna. Nico. The kids. Mrs. Goodwill. Everyone. Are they safe?>
She hoped they were. She prayed that they were. She thought that they were. None of the three with her looked like any of them.
Then what about her Pokemon?
<Turk. Amy. Dot. Bruno. Dratini. Where are you?>
She couldn’t find their Pokeballs anywhere on their body, and the idea that they could have been safely taken elsewhere without her was unimaginable. It was an unwritten rule that Pokemon in Pokeballs didn’t work that way in her world.
<And of course, Victini. He’s not on my back as a sword, but I suppose I don’t have to worry about him, being a god and all.>
While the others acclimated to the change of scenery in their own way, this was how Iris worried all while moving forwards. Greetings were shared by the others as Iris moved around some sort of computer terminal thing. Wow, it had been a long time since she saw one of those. Never one that was particularly good at technology, she ignored it for the moment, subconsciously expecting someone else to figure it out and share the knowledge and consciously deciding to move on to the next step.
Then, very deliberately, she walked up to the stocked plinth.
On the way there, she pauses once. Amid everyone else’s bustle and introductions, the strangest one of all had asked the exact same question she had. Iris stared blankly at the unknown Pokemon, she assumed he was a Pokemon and that he was a he, and then gave a sympathetic smile. ”I wonder that too,” her first words were a response to the Pokemon that could speak the same speech as humans.
<Strangers, right> Iris remembers, <That’s what they were to me once, too, so on this adventure I’ll also grow close to these people, I guess?> as she gets a good look at everyone for the first time: the two costumed girls and the talking Pokemon. Another first was the realization that her first adventure had ended only to be thrust into a second adventure. It felt a little strange, such a dissociated view. She’d never considered the island’s challenges and all the chaos involved in trying to stop a doomsday vote as an adventure. It had always just been a matter of survival with a healthy dash of discovery mixed in, but nothing like “adventure 1.” It was interesting to think about, but with a shake of her head, Iris refocuses.
She turns back around to her plinth and looks at her last hope. Her last hope for her Pokemon, that is. She could feel it. Why? Because at the very tippity top of the pile of supplies was one Moon Ball, an obvious starter if Iris ever saw one. Incidentally, she had also received Amy and Turk in a Moon Ball. Of course, in this situation, her starter could only be one of them. However, if that had to be the case, then she hoped that within the pokeball one of her two companions awaited her. She had to believe in the little things.
<It makes sense,> Iris convinced herself as she took the last few steps to the plinth, <and if that’s the case, then I have a chance of finding the rest somewhere in these eight zones AL talked about.>
However, just in case that the Moon Ball contained neither of her trusted partners, she hoped for, <At least an Eevee,> something she had some confidence in training, raising, and loving as any Pokemon deserved to be.
Iris paused with her hand on the ball. Part of her expected an answer to her prayers. Expectations of disembodied voices like that sort of came with the whole experience of being trapped on an island with frequent contact with gods. She received none, but of course, that was the obvious likely result. The gods were fickle, and now that she was no longer touched by Victini, there were no legendaries who had any reason to bother with her silly questions. Alone, Iris popped open the Pokeball, and in a spray of light, she finds herself facing…
She faces…
”GYAAAAAH!” without warning, a sudden scream from Iris echoes through the small room. The stress and anticipation that had been building up since starting this game explodes in that instant to take the shape of a wild, yet unnamed conclusion. With a grimace, Iris stumbles back and away from the reason for her distress, her emotional high ending in an accusatory, ”Y-you!”.
The “you” in question, a red and black fox-like creature, stands frozen in shock, very clearly startled by the greeting her trainer had thought fitting to give. Such a cute little thing. No apparent reason for Iris’s outburst could be seen from either her demeanor or appearance.

Layl had already started rummaging through the stuff on the plinth, mostly just tossing it inside the backpack that came along with it. She had just grabbed the strange, dark orb. As she picked up the orb and turned it around in her hand, she heard the loud gasp from the shorter girl. She glanced over to see her staring at the newly arrived...fox? It looked like a fox in Layl's opinion, she shook her head at the other girl for freaking out over a fox, before looking back down at the ball in her hand. Immediately upon seeing a red heart-shaped emblem engraved on the black ball, she panicked. "H-Heartless!" Layl shouted as she gripped the ball and threw it across the room, hearing it clash against the wall in a clatter and a sound she had heard not a few seconds earlier come from it's direction. She shakily brought her eyes to look at where the ball landed.
She stared at the black and red fox, same as the other one the other girl had released. The fox looked over, seemingly agitated at the other fox in the room. Layl had just thought it was ridiculous for the girl to scream at the fox, but now she understood. She readied her blade and stared down the fox across from her. Her body tensed as she prepared to dash over and protect the other girl. "I see now! Don't worry, I'll take care of them!"

As Yoko returned to a normal standing position she took in the reactions of her would-be companions, and was disappointed to see that none of them were paying attention to her. D-don't worry about it, Yoko. They're just... overwhelmed, that's all. Just like you are right now, she tried to justify to herself, keeping her disappointment and embarrassment of being ignored to herself. For now, Yoko turned her attention to study her companions, starting with the most obviously different one among them: the lizardman. Learning that the lizardman could speak didn't come off as a big surprise to Yoko; she had an inkling suspicion that he(?) could speak, and it seemed her intuition was right on the money. She was, however, surprised that he could speak her language, or that she could understand his language, if the case may be. Going off the lizardman's lisp, probably the former... she should probably stop referring to him as "lizardman". He said his name was "Shossk", right? With emphasis on the second s? She would have to check later.
The next of her companions she regarded was the girl with the key-shaped weapon. She said her name was "Layl", right? The weapon definitely piqued Yoko's curiosity, but other than that, there was nothing of much interest to note of the girl aside from her young looks. Probably still in high school, Yoko mused to herself, and she turned to regard her final companion. The first thing to come to Yoko's mind was 'short', immediately followed by 'young'. It was hard to tell from this distance, but Yoko suspected that she (Yoko) was at least a head taller than her. Comparisons aside, it seemed that the girl knew what she was doing, and was apparently familiar with the strange devices Yoko was clueless about. Yoko's eyes widened in surprise when she saw the girl open up one of the ball devices to produce a strange creature she had never seen before. It looked like some sort of fox, but Yoko had never seen one with that kind of fur pattern.
Most curiously, however, was the girl's reaction to the fox, and Yoko flinched when the girl screamed. A short moment later, the "Layl" girl had grabbed one of her own ball devices and reacted weirdly also, before then throwing it across the room and producing an almost identical fox creature. Yoko paused then as she came to a conclusion: did they all have one of these fox creatures inside one of those balls they were given? Pulling out the small ball marked with the water drop again, Yoko tried to open it to no avail. It was too small and tight. She pressed the button to expand the ball to its larger size and tried again, this time finding success as a stream of white energy spat out of the ball and to her feet, materialising into...
"A... a fish?" Yoko asked to no one in particular, staring dumbly at the strange fish as it flopped uselessly on the floor. She didn't have a strange fox like the other two did, but a strange fish instead? ... wait a minute... she had a fish! Panic immediately settled in as Yoko suddenly started looking around for a pond or a fish bowl; something to stick the fish in before it suffocated! "Help! Does anyone have a fish bowl?!" she shouted in dismay to the others, flailing about almost as uselessly as her fish in her panicking.

Shossk merely looks to the others as they release creatures from their respective spheres, two oddly colored foxes and a fish, and watches all three of them shout and posture and flail about. All this fuss over three comparatively small animals... a slight tingling and feeling of levity suggests it's entertaining. Perhaps fuel should be added to the fire?
Shossk takes his own marked sphere in hand, pressing the button twice as he'd seen the others do. A fourth flash of light briefly shines out, and a large owl materializes on the plinth.
The owl looks up at the lizardman, sweeping its 'bangs' out of its eyes with a wing, and waves hello. The commotion in the room catches its attention, and it spins its head to take in what's going on, just as Shossk did. The owl stifles a hooting laugh with its wing. Apparently the scene was funny.

The situation quickly devolved around Iris at such a rapid pace that there was no way she could miss it. Another Zorua appeared on the scene. Someone yelled to ask if anyone had a bowl for their Remoraid. The other girl, the one who released the second Zorua looked like she was about to murder it. The Pokemon had just released another Pokemon, the latter of which was laughing at them.
On top of that all, Iris's own Zorua was still there, staring at her. The Zorua's stare had only broken once, to look warily at the other Zorua when he was released. Iris couldn't yet rule out the possibility that had unnerved her so much, the possibility that this Zorua was just some scheme by her enemy Zoroark to break her into tiny little pieces.
However, it looked like if her Zorua really was out to get her, then it was going to win this time. Apparently, no one seemed to have a flying clue what they were doing with their Pokemon. Seriously, who just calls their starter "Heartless"? Who in their right mind would try to travel with a fish bowl? Iris couldn't just sit back and let this chaos continue, especially as she felt like she was responsible for starting it. Fitting, Of course utter chaos would work to that bastard's advantage, assuming Iris's extreme suspicions were correct.
Whatever Iris thought, a starter was a starter. She might have considered using Judgement on her Zorua when it first appeared, but she was quick to recede to a more careful position that didn't involve hurting her... "partner." This was even truer for the trainer of the other Zorua, the one who didn't have terrible memories tied to Zoroark. Iris was partially responsible for whatever misconception the key-wielder had, so she had to fix it. "Layl! Wait! It's Layl, right?" she sought to fix things by shouting, "What are you doing?! Heartless or whatever their name is, that's your starter, put your... weapon? thing? down!".
"And you," there was a simpler matter to fix as well, "Yoko, was it?". As someone who felt responsible, she was backpedaling hard from her own panic to try and instill some semblance of order back into the group. However, Yoko's problem perplexed Iris in its... um... completely unneeded flailing? <Why is she panicking over not having a bowl for her Remoraid? Sure, it's better for her Remoraid, but it's not like they're going to die without one,> was what Iris really thought but it sounded a little mean, so she instead said, "Um... You... You're not planning on walking around while holding your Remoraid in a bowl, are you? It'll be better to just... carry it..." The advice felt sound. Iris was pretty sure in it, but again, the simplicity of the matter made her doubt that she had answered the right question. That sort of feeling.
It seemed that the Pokemon duo were doing just fine.
To each person Iris addressed, she turned her head to look at them and rather rudely jabbed a finger in their direction when she called to them just to make sure she got their attention. Although, once attention had been gotten, her finger, hand, and armed lowered politely.

Layl maneuvered around room til she was standing beside the shorter girl, listening to her as she got into position near her. She lowered her weapon, but held it ready just in case the...'Starter?' wanted to attack. "I don't know what a Starter is, but that...thing! came from a ball with the Heartless emblem on it, you can't really blame me for being cautious"
Layl glared at the two foxes with worry, though neither really seemed to follow the Heartless mindset, in fact the one she had released was glaring at her with a look that she could only comprehend as 'Really? You're doing this now?' Layl also had to admit it was pretty cute, at least. The girl did seem to recognize what it was though, so while she would keep her guard up, she would listen. "Oh, and yeah, it is Layl, how about you?"

Yoko whirled around to face the girl that had called out to her, a bewildered expression on her face. Did she not know the basic facts about fishes? "I can't just carry it around! It'll die if it isn't in water!" Yoko argued while gesturing to the strange fish, which was still flopping uselessly by her feet. However, there was something that the girl said that threw Yoko off. Wait, what did she just call it? A "Remoraid"? What the hell is a "Remoraid"? This fish? Is that what it's called? A "Remoraid"? She was still panicking over the fact the fish she had given was now dying (which it isn't), but now there was confusion mixed into her facial expression. Does this girl know what these things are? As Yoko was thinking this, the lizardman seemed to have similar thoughts, and he just then voiced those thoughts. "Y-yeah! What the lizardman just said! (I think he said his name was Shossk?)" Yoko quickly added, also wanting to know the answers to those questions.

Now that you have all started to get your bearings and have had time to acclimate to your current location you manage to get a better idea of the room and its contents.
When you give the material the room is constructed from a closer inspection it is apparently made of some sort of crystalline substance similar to an opaque white quartz, hard and smooth with fine cracks and occlusions running through it that cannot be felt on the surface. Every inch of the room covered in organic patterns that are almost fractal in nature repeating from the very structure of the room down to the smallest point the eye can see. They seem to be fluid. When your eye leaves them they seem to change ever so slightly. Structures in the room seem almost like liquid patterns caught, suspended in time.
The room is circular, around 200 feet in diameter. it has a high domed ceiling, at least 30 feet up. There are eight large pillars at equidistant points spread in a circular pattern halfway between the wall and the center of the room. Each pillar has support struts jutting off of them at odd angles connecting with the floor and ceiling almost randomly, looking like cobwebs hanging off of some great ancient bone. The contraptions that had appeared out of the ground are around 4 1/2 feet tall, each seems to have been formed directly from the floor, seamlessly blending in as if they had originally been carved from the same piece of material. Each one has a different symbol embossed on the base, one is a coin, another a Pokeball, a third has a fence and the last has a simplified version of the face of AL. They are located near the center of the room at equal points. At the center of the room are a raised dais and the four plinths on top. the room almost seems to flow toward this central focal point, all the patterns spiraling into the rooms central singularity. Around the wall, there are the eight archways each leading to their designated location but between each is a door. They are each also embossed with a stylized symbol of their own. A knife and fork, a bed, a flexing arm, a toilet, a couch, a field, a hot spring. The last door remains unmarked.
When you stand before each archway and give the landscape beyond a good long look this is what you see.
The first you stand at (arbitrarily) shows a deep lush jungle beyond. The landscape choked with a variety of foliage filled with the trunks huge trees, vines and colorful blooms. You can see the half buried remains of some sort of red clay structure jutting out amongst the leaves, mostly consumed by time and moss. A large river runs languidly through the background, dark and turbid. It too is dotted with plant life, the occasional ripple belies life beneath. Through a few scattered patches, you can see light filtering through from above the canopy. The hint of a blue sky just beyond the wall of green. As you watch the landscape seems to bob up and down slightly in the archway, the motion isn't violent and if you hadn't been sitting there staring you would not have noticed but it is there. You can almost feel a perceptible wave of muggy heat emanate from within.
The next archway you approach contains a dark and dreary landscape. An obscuring fog seems to engulf the land, it seems to ebb and flow like waves. As you look at the scene a castle standing on a large cliff seems to jut out of the fog, large and imposing the edifice seems to cause the very fog to shy away. You can see that the structure is very old, ivy and moss speckled the sides of the building. It has several high towers twisting out from within the solid walls, dingy red banners drape from their windows. As you watch the other portions of the archway you can make out more cliffs, almost as if some giant had taken a sword and rent the very land. A village can be seen on another of these cliffs, barely visible amongst the fog. You can also make out that the landscape is dotted with small gray protrusions, they are hard to make out and seem well worn.
After the dreariness of the last arch, the next contains a fantastic burst of color. Giant coral reaches above waves of brilliant blue green. Each piece of the mass is a different bright shade and each has its own unique shape. As they reach above the waves they intertwine with one another making a web of connections that stretch beyond your ability to see. The bright blue sky frames the vivid colors making it almost hard to look at. At the bottoms of each cluster, there are golden sandy beaches dipping deep into the crystal clear water. In the distance, a few ships can be seen sailing between ramshackle ports. The smell of fish and salt hangs heavy in the air just beyond the archway.
A web of chrome, neon, and clean plastic can be seen through the next archway. It appears to an assembly line of some sort, large arms complete a variety of tasks such as placing pieces onto conveyors, fitting delicate machinery together and welding components to one another. What the arms are building is not easily discernable as none of the arms appear to be working on the same project, each completes its task and the piece moves on through the wall. High above the factory floor tall mirrored glass windows stand like sentinels watching the bustle. Several side passages are open in alcoves on the walls leading off in random directions. As you watch you notice that every so often the entire operation shifts, arms that had once been completing a task shift to a different conveyor and begin working on something completely different. It's hard to make out the pattern in it all but it seems to be working on one.
A huge mountain climbs into the sky in the following archway, near the top it is capped with snow and a lava flow can be seen seeping down one face. Near the bottom, there is a ring of dense pine trees that slowly becomes sparser the higher up the slope your gaze goes. As the vegetation becomes rarer it becomes easier to see that the face of the mountain is covered in cave faces, marking the peak like holes in a termite mound. The surface is uneven, covered with shelf and secondary peaks that sometimes allow a copse of trees to grow far higher than any of the others. At a point that there are no more trees, you can also see that there is some sort of buildings built into the face periodically on the side that is unmarked by the lava.
The next shows a cityscape filled with massive buildings that seem to claw toward the sky like a twisted hand. When you stare hard at the buildings it's clear to tell that they are of poor construction, large portions are left unfinished and some of them seem to be barely held together. As if a construction crew had been paid by how many they could construct rather than having them stand for any amount of time. They are covered with colorful advertisements and banners haphazardly placed on the learning shells. Every once in a great while they all seem to sway as if they are trees in a breeze, afterward they settle back to their original position without a sign of collapse.
This archway shows a vast sprawling desert dotted with bright green cacti and the occasional bright blue of an oasis. In the distance light green clusters of cacti seem to for dense forests that stretch out to the horizon. From the center of one of these a large red pyramid emerges, hazy in the heat haze. Closer to the archway smaller pyramids and other smaller constructions can also be seen, made of yellow sandstone and half buried by the blowing sand. A ramshackle village can be seen clustered around one of the pyramids that also has an oasis nearby. The wave of dry heat from the arch is almost overpowering.
Immediately in front of the final archway, it appears to be nighttime. A stack of strange rough objects sits in the gloom. Each appears to be a large differently colored rectangle that varies in height, they are covered in different colored runes and symbols. The stack appears to reach to the top of the ceiling which itself consists of extremely wide wooden bars about as wide as you are tall that have about the same amount of space between. In the spaces, some sort of fuzzy fabric can be seen poking out. In the distance, you can see a large wooden pillar and a wall of dark fabric covered with stars at the edge of the ring of light that the archway projects into space beyond. The floor is also made of wide wooden boards and appears to be covered in a thick layer of dust. You get a musty taste in your mouth just sitting on the edge of this archway.

"Iris," was the only response to Layl that Iris could eke out before she was addressed by the other two.
It wasn't so much that Iris felt a greater need to answer the questions that Shossk and Yoko asked, but that the questions themselves left her in shock. The Pokemon had just asked about Pokemon. The girl not only followed up in support of the question but also thought that fish couldn't survive out of water. Just what kind of inland rock did she live under? No, that couldn't explain it. Crazy. They were both crazies. Iris looked at them like they had just lost their minds.
Layl, luckily enough, escaped the crazy categorization for the moment, if only because her confusion and caution had been so vague. Iris didn't know what a heartless emblem (an emblem without a heart?) was but she assumed it was some sort of criminal organization or the like she didn't know about. Referring to a Pokemon as a "thing," was a little on the harsh side, but she had also just done the same with her own Zorua... Even now, the thought, "her own Zorua," sent a shiver of unease through Iris.
"What in the name of Arceus are you two talking about?" Iris asked the two, incredulous and the "are you crazy?" look still on her face, "Don't you know what Pokemon are? I mean... You! Shossk! You're a Pokemon, yourself. A talking one is rare and all of the ones I've seen were special in some way, but... I don't know what else you can be other than a Pokemon with the way you look. Have neither of you ever seen any of these Pokemon before? Your region doesn't have any of these evolutionary lines? No, before that, Yoko, have you never seen a fish in your entire life? What kind of fish will die if it's not in water for a few days? That's just... so... so... sad for the fish. I don't even know where you can get that idea." All semblance of being polite and inoffensive had left Iris. Her pathetic guild could only hold on for so long, after all. She was as frank as frank could be, and right now, frank Iris wanted answers of her own more than giving answers to the, to her, common sense questions asked.

Shossk blinks.
"Iss that your word for common animals?" Shossk shakes his head, causing his dorsal spines to sway to an fro. "Nno. I am lizardfolk. We are reptiles, but we are nearly as intelligent as the humanns, the elves, the dwarves, and most of the otherr races. You are nnot the first to make that mistake. Many humanss have never seeen my kind." And if Shossk had been most other races, being mistaken for some common lizard might have been insulting. As it stands, Shossk's gravely monotone indicates he is merely stating what he sees as fact.
Shossk to the 'pokemon', narrow pupils examining each in turn. "Are thesse creatures not of the Feywild? They look to bee colorful echos of the owls, the foxes, and the fish founnd on the Prime Material. Thiss owl is clearly morre intelligent than those found in most foressts. It undersstands humor."
The dartrix rubs the back of its head in pleased embarrassment, blushing invisibly underneath his feathers at the praise.

Layl looked around at the confusion seemingly apparent on everyone, though she wasn't quite sure if Shossk was that confused. She always had trouble telling apart emotions of those who look drastically different from her. Layl shook her head, she was a Keyblade Wielder! If these people were lost on another world it was her duty to protect them!
"Don't worry, I believe I can explain why we're all confused. Now I know this might be confusing to understand, but we're all from different Worlds" Layl tried to keep her voice steady, she needed to keep control of herself so she could help these people. Yes, she was lost herself but it seemed she was the one with the most experience dealing with strange and unusual worlds. "So because of that, we all obviously don't know things that other's here might, but if what Al said was true, we can focus on it and the information should come running" After saying that, Layl turned towards Iris. "And even if it doesn't, I think if we just take time, we can explain everything to each other. We just need to be patient and talk it over" She then offered an awkward smile, trying to ease the tension a little.

The human girl was smiling. Is this the appropriate time to smile? Shossk makes an effort to pull the corners of his mouth backward and up, baring his sharp teeth in a facsimile of a reptilian smile. Shossk holds the smile there for one, two, three... then he lets the smile instantly drop, his face back to its usual neutral state. The dartrix quietly edges a few steps away from the big lizard.

"Hey! I have so seen a fish in my life, but I'm starting to think that maybe you haven't! Every fish I know of can't survive out of water for very long, and you're telling me this one can? How am I supposed to believe that?!" Yoko snapped back when Iris accused her of not knowing her facts about fishes. Just the notion of a fish being able to survive out of water for an extended period of time was incredulous to Yoko. It just went against everything Yoko knew about fishes. Speaking of fishes, her Remoraid was still flopping about uselessly by her feet, seemingly forgotten in all the commotion. "And no, I don't know what these "pokaymon" are!" she then added as an afterthought, unfamiliar with the term. She probably pronounced it wrong, too, but that wasn't important to her right now. Yoko then listened quietly to what Shossk and Layl had to say on the matter, understanding some of what was being said.
And then Shossk smiled.
Wow, that is, uh... that's a sight I doubt I'll ever forget, Yoko internally commented, a shiver running down her spine at the sight of the lizardman "smiling". In a bid to distract herself from the scary display that is now firmly planted into her brain, Yoko tried to make sense of what Layl was suggesting, if what she was saying was to be believed. They were all from different worlds? How does that even happen? It would make sense, though, considering how vastly different Iris' knowledge of fish anatomy is when compared to her own. And then there's Shossk. There's no way she could justify that as a guy in a costume. Not after seeing that smile. For now, she just has to believe that what Layl is saying is true. "If - and this is a really big if - we are in another world, how are we supposed to get back to our own worlds?" Yoko asked then with some hesitation, her attention squarely on Layl.
