I decided to throw a second character application into the mix. Meet Jessica Evergreen, a Chronicler/Grass Ace, who is looking to save the world through journalism!

I've been telling myself not to apply to any new games, but damn, Goliathus... I might need to break that mantra for this. I keep coming back to it and telling myself But what if--
So you might have an app from me over the next few days. Excellent work on the opening informational post. One of the most thorough I've seen yet.

Since we're allowed to submit multiple characters, I'd like to also submit Esprit Moreau, A self appointed detective that can read your aura, and wants to raise pokemon for a living (Aura Guardian/Researcher/Mentor/Hobbyist)

seraphflonne 2. In my mind, they would just hate her right off the gate than even trying to pick behind the curtain(see through her facade), especially when she is making it hard for them to be close to her. 3. OOC request: recommend me a song that is related to 'lie became part of someone". lichlord Clarification on Q2: My question has nothing to do with the botany skill. I don't interfere with player's decision on features and edge unless it's a banned skill. At most I would ask why you pick feature A or B, but this is not the case here. I find the idea of people heading into a ghost forest hoping for medicinal aid to be something unviable in Varius region. I can see it being a thing if this is a fantasy game where rural area are poor and access to medical help is limited. However, in Varius, clinics and hospitals are abundant. People from the more rural part of the region can easily catch a train or walk to a nearby city for medical help instead of risking their life stumbling into a dangerous forest. Secondly, no one will know about this "doctor in the forest" unless she has actually healed someone before to start the rumor. All I see in terms of rumor from the background, is that there is a ghost girl in the forest. That idea I am totally buying it. The doctor in the forest, I see nothing related to it in the story. Plus, as I said, it's implausible. Personally, I would just take that out. Or maybe have her healing Pokemon in the forest or something like that. Or maybe she become some kind of helper to people who got lost in the forest, just so they can avoid the same fate as she was supposed to have. As for the ranger part, maintaining the ecosystem of the region is a Ranger's responsibility. And being abusive to Pokemon inside is a no-no either, same for wild game pouching. Also, ranger regularly patrols all the wild areas in Varius. Q3. If we ignore the mechanics, Rem has no knowledge of how to fight. She has learn nothing when it comes to fighting skill nor she is a Druid or Apparition that the "Blightbark Court"(you can make up a name yourself if you want) can show her how to harness the power of either the Grass or Ghost type. If we judge it based on the mechanics, Trapper teach you how to make trap, which isn't part of the ambush and Natural Fighter lets you fight better in a wild environment. None of them are direct fighting technique like say a Martial Artist's move. All I can imagine is that she is a frail girl, with not much of battle experience and knowledge, so I personally am not believing her to be a capable fighter. As for the reputation, I don't think the Blightbark Court are aggressive to the forest's pokemon? As you said, Lider welcomes Pokemon who make a home on it and they are protectors of the forest. I think the Weedles leaving the Turtwig alone out of respect of the Court OR Remedy giving some of her foods that she grew to the Weedles so they would leave the Turtwig alone. Unless you specifically want Remedy to be rather aggressive and violent, then I guess picking a fight would make sense. NQ1. Which brings me to a new question, what's the violent tendency of Rem? In the personality segment, you have mention death threats. What are her primary motive of doing so? Is it a scare tactics taught by the Court? Or she truly means it and enjoys the thrill of taking people's life...for some reason(explain if this is the case)? Or she just wants people to leave her alone? Assuming she grows up like a normal girl before the incident, I doubt she would mean harm to human, unless the Court really mess up with her brain, or her hatred of human being stemmed from her mother disappearance and her father abandoning her soon later. Damn, that's some deep mental scars on a 7 YO girl. NQ2. What's her like pre-7 YO? When I picture the character background like a movie, I always feel like some flashback on a pre-7 life is essential. oddeyes My bad on those questions, it seems I read a lot of the portion wrong. Infynis 4. Ranger is actually a decent job and it's closer to a 9-to-5 job than trainer. If we use real life as example, ranger will be like "hey dad, I want to become a police officer" while trainer is "hey dad, I want to play professional basketball in the NBA". And I really should have make it clearer that the Pokemon Academy actually train Ranger too. It's more of a post-game modification after the last iteration of this game went dead and I was like "the academy seems boring if it's just 200 students total". 5. The only issue I have is that rangers have been in Varius for a very long time. Though your points still stand even without that part. NQ1. How good are his parents in their trainer career? Why they choose to be trainers instead of just stickign to full-time theatre actress and pianist? 8. Hmm, my initial plan is that most science classes are only available in Cobalion except for something like Pokeball Crafting. Nature-based classes are covered mostly in Keldeo. Virizion's side-subjects are mostly culture-based and related-to-the-whole-world like World History, Sociology and so on. However, you don't have to choose a new edge. You can just say he learn how to craft apricorn ball on his own, or he joined some sort of Science Club in the school and pick it up from some seniors there and so on. Tons of ways to fluff that. If you want a real life comparison, it's closer to an aviation academy than a tech university. From what I understnad, aviation academy only teach you about aviation stuff. The Pokemon academies have more than that but not a whole lot more. drallore I should have strikethrough the Xavier's Academy part, was just joking around with the X-Men reference but yeah, the academy in Varius is sort of similar. An elementalist who wants to become a Pokemon Trainer would either be attending both academies(so a lot of traveling) or have an elementalist tutor who follows him around in the Pokemon academy. Just so I can have an idea on how he judges beauty(easier for me to know what to give and not give), please rate the following Pokemon in terms of their look, from 0 to 10 and give out reason if possible, in character: Garbador, Jynx, Drowzee, Stunfisk, Purugly, Bidoof, Barbacle, Muk Example: Muk 0/10, the opposite of "beauty", simply disgusting professorscamander Tragic backstories and orphans are done so often that it is kind of a cliche when it comes to antihero. A normal guy who just want to be one actually feels "fresher". I would say concept 2 is easier for me than concept 1. My issue with concept 1 is that I am not giving a lot of typeshift and/or shiny Pokemon and the concept is unlikely to be fun and enjoyable for you if you cannot find enough of those targets to catch. Nether 1. So Silas has become more of a theater guy now? Never really see that coming by reading 1.0. 2. Is he by any chance a wrestling fan? Arcran Bartender What makes him choose Varius over other regions? Other regions likely have easier route to becoming trainers(I keep them by default so meeting a professor and then have a journey or something like that. Except maybe you can't do that by 10, 15 seems fine). Also, what makes them interested in becoming trainers? All I read is they are bad boys at school, which isn't necessarily related to Pokemon Battle. cbeck785 This post in the previous thread holds true: I am still going through the remaining profiles, just don't want to hold a reply longer than it is now.

It's more of a post-game modification after the last iteration of this game went dead and I was like "the academy seems boring if it's just 200 students total". Okay, I guess I didn't make this quite clear enough. While being a Pokemon Ranger is a steady job, it's not something Marcus' parents see as good enough for their son. If he's not going to be inheriting the company, he had better do something that pays equally well! They're fine with letting him try to be a trainer, and then still having a spot for him at their company when he can't make it.5. The only issue I have is that rangers have been in Varius for a very long time. Though your points still stand even without that part. Alright, noted. I thought maybe that was something I could just fluff I've always thought of Rangers as something new to the Pokemon world because of how late into the series the games were released.NQ1. How good are his parents in their trainer career? Why they choose to be trainers instead of just stickign to full-time theatre actress and pianist? His parents weren't super successful as trainers, but being a full-time artist is equally difficult. What they ended up doing was using the experience they had from being trainers, with the Pokecenters and the PC systems (though not in Varius obviously) and whatnot, to start their business, which was very successful.8. Hmm, my initial plan is that most science classes are only available in Cobalion except for something like Pokeball Crafting. Nature-based classes are covered mostly in Keldeo. Ok, it's clear I'd have to chop up and edit too much of my original vision for the character to use her. And it seems you and I are one different wavelengths in terms of thoughts, as a lot of stuff has been mis-read on both sides.
I'm just going to pull Rem out of contention, and I might make another character, idk.

Silas doesn't particularly care about -actual- theater, so you'll rarely see him interested in taking up the stage in a conventional play - he does, however, enjoy being theatrical and over the top during matches. Improvisational recitation/theater is exactly the sort of thing that would help polishing up that skillset, as well as help him come up with quick answers to the occasional unexpected plot twist tossed at him. His main focus is still matches.
He's not an hardcore wrestling fan, but he probably does occasionally follow it - and takes notes. I see him as having a few personal favourites and following them when he has free time. He would enjoy it a lot more if storylines originated organically from victories and defeats instead of match results being mostly predetermined.

RE: Bartender
I didn't realize that the process was so much easier in the other regions! In that case, I'm going to make the two of them natives to Varius, just to have it make more sense for them to be going to the schools. In that case, they're there out of convenience; neither can really afford to move to another region, so they're going for whatever is easiest.
For why they wanted to become Trainers: For Dale, he wants that star lifestyle. Clubs, parties, women, all the nice window dressings that come with being a famous celebrity. Long term, he wants to create his Gym and Bar, but at the moment all he cares about is becoming famous, and beating down Chip.

Hmm, I was actually growing more attached to the pokemon hunter than the snagger one. And she doesn't plan to keep any of the shiny pokemon. She sells them to the highest bidder. Between that and the amount of applications out, it doesn't make sense for me to go with an application that I'm less excited about, so I think I'll just bow out gracefully here.

Ok, happy to help out with the pokemon descriptions! (in character of course :3). Also, now that I know that elementalists can have tutors following them around, I think I'll be adding that to Finn's backstory, since his family could probably afford one
Garbador, Jynx, Drowzee, Stunfisk, Purugly, Bidoof, Barbacle, Muk
Garbador "Ah - ha . . . ha . . . Wow that's ummm . . that's definitely a unique pokemon isn't it? I mean, it definitely is intimidating, . . . but if I were forced to judge just off beauty . . . probably 1/10. IM SO SORRY!!!"
Jynx "Aw~ She's definitely a little weird, but she seems fun! I'd give her a 4/10"
Drowzee "Wow, this guy looks ALOT like my grandpa. I don't think he's really trying for any beauty contests though, he seems like he's got a whole different set of skills. 2/10"
Stunfisk Haha! he's so cute! He looks really derpy. 3/10
Purugly ". . . ok this thing is giving me major attitude and doesn't have the looks to back it up. 1/10. Don't even feel bad about this one"
Bidoof "What a sweet little goober! I'm scared its teeth could eat right through me though . . . 2/10"
Barbacle "This guy isn't a traditional pretty type, but he looks really fun, and I've got a soft spot for water types X3. 4/10"
Muk "*tries best to hold composure and not vomit*, Um . . . I don't think this one's for me . . . 0/10"

Throwing my hat in for interest, probably going with a Bug Ace, not sure what else I'll be doing class wise.

I'm still working out the rough edges of her backstory and personality, but Yuna Voss is otherwise ready to be looked at. She, uh, doesn't have any trainer classes at the moment, as more of a personal challenge for myself, though it does actually make some sense for her character. She'll be proudly representing Virizion Academy!

I'm working on an application, but a question came up. Do you have any homebrew/houserules for the Coordinator class? Unless you're planning to run contests, the feature tax on its good feats is pretty sad, because too many don't have a use outside of contests

In regards to Stella Versa2. I imagine that is how everyone reacts, just wanted to leave a chance for some people to try if they wanted to, they would be denied either way. She's lonely both by choice and reputation. 3. Oh god, don't ask me for song recommendations, I barely even understand music sometimes, I just listen to what sounds good to me.

Greg Wallace, the Bug Catcher with a chip on his shoulder and a mediocre graduate of Terrakion is done. More or less.
