[Unlike the previous game, this is open for everyone]
Growing up, you have witnessed the history of the Pokemon Battle sport in making: the excitement of watching two gigantic Pokemon throwing everything at each other, the battle of wits between the best trainers in the world, the flawless execution of a game plan, the drama and gossip of the trainers, the rivalry of the greatest to ever train a Pokemon and so much more.
It is with the desire, to one day be among the greatest(or any other agenda that motivate you), that you have decided to apply at one of Varius' finnest Pokemon trainer academies. The admission test really thinned out the herd but with talents and perhaps the smile of Lady Chansey on your side, you were among the chosen.
But your journey did not start there, not yet. It took years of training and education - four, to be exact - before you were an official Pokemon trainer. This is your time, your opportunity to write something in the history of Pokemon Battle and Coordination.
Hello there, I am Goliathus and I am recruiting again for what I will call, "a vanilla sandbox with a lot of mods". The players are playing the graduates of Varius' local Pokemon academies at the beginning of their journey to catch'em all/be the best. The standard roadmap of "8 gyms -> league tournament -> elite four" is different in this game but the general idea of progression is still there. You will be acquiring Pokemon, training them up, battling against other trainers for a higher spot on the ranking ladder and winning tournaments over the course of the campaign.
On May, I was pondering about running either one of three games: reboot of this, a sci-fi or a fantasy. As recent games have covered both the sci-fi and fantasy genres well, I believe a reboot of this would be most ideal.

Expectation
- Team XXX is not a part of the campaign. Btw, XXX is not the team's name, I just did not bother to give them a name because they are not important. It is the law enforcement force's job to do something about them, not Pokemon trainers. Unless your character has a link with them or is trying to actively engage them, they will not interfere with your life for the most part.
- I have come to grasp that I am a slow GM and I tend to be more thorough with menial stuffs than others so feel free to tell me if the story is progressing too slow to your liking. I still have to point out that I am slower so if you are looking for a fast-paced story, you are unlikely to find it here, just putting it out here right away.
- I tend to post a lot of questions for applications, arguably more than other GMs. Please don't try to take that as an insult or harsh criticism or thinking that your character is not good enough or me trying to control what you do, because all of the above are not true. I am just easily intrigued by background and stuffs and hopefully you can see my questions as compliment of you making an interesting character.
- Heavy usage of fancy graphics. I used to RP on Proboards and I am a fan of the fancy graphic stuff you can do here. As this is my only Proboards RP I am on currently, I will not hold back on using all the template and such. If you are bothered by heavy graphical usage, this is likely not the game for you.
What Not to Expect
- Horror. Even a newborn has bigger balls than me when it comes to horror and my lack of experience in that field means that I am unlikely to provide a spooky experience, especially atmospheric. I do enjoy researching supernatural stuff and I do watch some of the least scary ones like zombie(which I love) and modern vampire so I am not completely lacking in knowledge in that part, just experience, and hopefully I can at least provide a reasonable experience if anyone is shooting for a Ghost trainer.
- Mechanical challenge. I don't have a whole ton of experience in the system yet and I rarely min-max so if you are a looking for a mechanical challenge of your super-optimized superteam of six against a well-designed power six of the NPCs, you might be disappointed by the quality I am putting in front of you. I do try my best to provide challenge to my players but I don't think I can be on a super optimizer's level.
Character Application
I will be taking 2-3 players. Maybe 4 at maximum if the quality of applicants are good, but I have learn that overextending myself is not good, so don't put high hope on that. Do note that this is more of a beta campaign, the world is currently being build, hence the lack of information on the cities and not even a map, and we will be building the region together. All the systems are also untested so far so do expect changes if I deem it necessary.
Recruitment will end on 2359 GMT, August 10. I reserve the right to pull the end date forward if all the apps are done much earlier than that.
In terms of IC time, the game will be starting at Day 1 of January 1090.
Starting level is 3 for trainer and 8 for Pokemon.
The minimum age of a character is 18 and there is no upper limit. The four schools do not discriminate their applicants based on their age. If you want to play a 80 years old Master Roshi-ish character who goes into the sport because athletes get all the hot girls and at 80, Pokemon Battle is the only sport he can do at a peak level, go ahead.
The character can have different goals than being a world winner in Pokemon Battle or Coordination. This is a sandbox after all, so if your character is looking to become a police officer after trying out this whole Pokemon Battle thing, we can work on that together. The character can be an auxiliary police member and be engaging in police duty from time to time. All I ask from you is to stick with being a Pokemon Trainer/Coordinator for at least a while. After mid-game, if we get that far(just being realistic), we can do anything like opening up a shop for a tycoon experience and whatever.
Do the standard character detail like personality and such in any form you'd like but the things below must be included:
School: Do take note that just because you are from a school doesn't mean you have to be stereotypical. You can be from Cobalion but not follow the Cobalion System or be a Keldeo graduate but not dwell into artistic interest. And oh, one VERY IMPORTANT thing: your character MUST like representing the school. Your character can hate this whole "team, school, unity" bullcrap inside his/her heart but he/she must at least like it on the surface. After all, the school has provided him/her the chance to be something that is not accessible for majority of the population and I am shooting for a "school loyalty" vibe in the campaign as college sport is part of the influence here.
Favorite class: Feel free to make up the class, anything related to Pokemon is fine. Even none Pokemon class is fine, like history or geology for instance as long as it makes sense for the school. For instance, chemistry makes sense for Cobalion College but not for Keldeo Academy.
Starting package: You have 8 points to spend on the following things. Please list them out either in your application post or in your sheet for easy reference:
[The starting package is going through a revamp, please do not think about this part for now]
- You can have multiple of the same package.
- Whatever your choice, you will be starting with a Pokedex, a Smartphone and a Trainer License. The Trainer License is essential, the Pokedex and Smartphone you can do without if you choose to, such as playing a technophobe.
- Cosmetic or RP-oriented item like a family's pendant is free, as long as it has no mechanical impact.
- Do note that survival gear isn't absolutely necessary in the beginning if you prefer to use your money elsewhere or RPing as someone who doesn't necessarily enjoy the wild all that much. Trains are available for easy travel to the next city so one way to start out is to just go to locations near the city for Pokemon searching and using trains to travel around. The downside is that you may find a higher variety and likely rarer Pokemon deep inside a forest than its outskirt. Unless you start as a Survivalist with a Pokemon that can help you in the wild, you are unlikely to be able to reach the heart of the forest on your first day so don't sweat too much on the downside, just make a character that you will enjoy. There are plenty of ways to get Pokemon as an urban-oriented trainer though, like trading or side quest for example so playing someone with near-zero survival skill forever is not a major hindrance in the game, even if you are planning on going solo most of the time. And you don't even have to invest in Survival skill yourself, just find some Pokemon with high Survival skill and they will be your guide in the wild, be creative.
Starter
Unlike a typical game, you will not be choosing the starter's species yourself. You do have control over the Pokemon's gender, personality and such. ICly, all starters come from ranches around the region and professors(the school kind, not lab) are assigned to distribute them among the students they are assigned to. Three choices will be presented to each students by the final week of their school year. If rejected, which is allowed, two more choices(consist of rejected Pokemon) are given to them on the next night. If rejected again, a random unknown Pokemon will be given at the graduation day. If you for any reason would like to get a random unknown Pokemon, do tell me right away so I don't have to go through five Pokemon for you. Here are two examples I have written for my players on another site:
Sample 1
Sample 2
For more example, look at the previous Varius game on this site.
Allowed Materials
Banned
*Experimental drug might show up in the campaign, but probably illegal and very expensive.
**I am still figuring out how to fit Arcanist into the setting so any Arcanist character might need to do some background adjustment after I have read your application.
Application - Extra Notes
This time, there will be a pre-game chat: Join Here! Joining the chat is optional, if you enjoy pre-game chat and find it helpful for things like asking questions and chatting with other potential players, cool. If you don't find pre-game chat to be useful and/or enjoyable, you can ask me stuffs in this thread. All the relevant questions that come up in chat will be put into the FAQ below for ease of access.
Applicants are free to make up anything for the region and to the character. I give absolute freedom to the applicants to write the story they want for their characters. All such info will be canon upon acceptance. I am a big fan of crafting a personal experience for my players, using what is given by the players themselves. Thus, creativity regarding what's around your characters are encouraged. You can develop his family, rival, hometown, religion, his region assuming he's a foreigner, tie with some kind of mafia organization and anything you can think of, really, and you should expect them to be a part of the story.
Like last time, do expect questionnaires for your characters in this thread after your submission.

Trainer Rank
Every trainer will start their career from E rank and work their way up to S rank. To advance up a rank, the trainer has to accumulate 10 promotion points(or PP) to qualify for the rank tournament and then win the tournament to go up a rank. The Pokemon Battle and Coordination Association(here on out as PBCA) reserves the right to promote a trainer without having a promotion tournament win.
Tournament
PBCA official tournaments are run at the end of every month over the course of a year(also known as a PBCA season). Each rank will have its own tournament and there might be different formats and rewards. Participating in tournaments is the most common way to earn PPs. The first and second places are sure to earn PPs. Third place and below is decided upon the amount of participants. There will also be Academy Tournament on occasion, in which trainers will represent their school with pride as they take on the rival academies on the field.
Gym Badge
Gym Badge is an alternative way to earn PPs. In this setting, gym badge is similar to merit badges for the trainers to showcase their talent outside the arena or to provide another type of challenge. As tournament is the battleground for trainers, gym badge will not be battle-oriented or even important. One can play this game without challenging gyms. Many of them are mini-games or skill challenges, or something else that can test a trainer's skill. While combat is required in some gyms, the basic idea here is to offer trainers some variety as to how they earn their PPs. ICly, for trainers who prefer to keep their team and game plan hidden until the promotion tournament, gym badge is the way to go. There are also trainers who specialized in gym badges than tournament, some even view them as collectibles or as something for their resume once they retire from the sport.
Elite Four & "World Cup"
Elite Four is the name of the region's champions, winner of the prestigious (shamelessly unnamed-for-now) Tournament that is held on every November, of the past four years. Every four years, a world tournament will be held and the Elite Four of different regions will gather and fight against the best of the best in the world. Winner will have his name cemented in the Hall of Fame and forever be remembered in Pokemon sport history. The default end-game goal of a trainer should be winning the "World Cup"(which I will come up with a better name eventually), the equivalent of beating the Elite Four in a classic setting..
Season & Passage of Time
One thing I am emphasizing in this campaign is the passage of time. It is meant to be more realistic and hopefully provide and extra layer of immersion to the players, who will grow and mature alongside their Pokemon. Each month will be 7 in-game days and a year is 84 in-game days. I might make further adjustment after the campaign if I think the pace is not right. Season is also in for immersion purpose and also, enhanced Pokemon behavior. For instance, you might stumble upon a cave and see a ton of Ursarings hibernating inside on winter while on spring time, that same cave is where Charizard mate and guard their babies.

Four Schools of Justice
Cobalion College
Cobalion College has been "The College" for quite some time now, especially in the early era where its alumni simply dominate the sport over the others so much that the top rank competition looked like a Cobalion College event rather than an inter-school competition. The other schools eventually caught up and the competition were closer nowadays. Still, there is no denying that Cobalion College is the leading school in the region today and remains as the school with the highest student intake every year.
Cobalion College's success in the sport is not without a reason, they have a system since their establishment that holds strong even in today's competition: crafting a perfectly balanced team of six Pokemon with excellent type synergies. Widely dubbed the "Cobalion System" by sport fans nowadays, the system involves finding a perfect fit of six Pokemon, preferably in different roles, and tries to minimize as much weaknesses as possible as a well-balanced team. Just like any well-crafted team of any sport, role is huge in this system. Most teams start with two attackers, commonly known as sweepers, two defenders, commonly known as tank, and two utilities or supports of any kind. Every trainer has their own preference and will adjust their team accordingly but the philosophy of a balanced team with near-zero weakness(especially on typings) is always true. The system has been "attacked" many years on the internet for being too systematic, treating Pokemon battling like a complex quadratic equation and using Pokemon as just tools to succeed rather than loyal partners and fellow living things in battle. Cobalion's defenders are winning the battle though because this system is widely used by many competitors in the scene, no matter what school they are from, because it is simple, effective and a solid foundation to crafting a winning team.
As time passes by and the game innovating itself every year, Cobalion System is no longer the "ultimate strategy" in the Pokemon Battle landscape. Nowadays, it is used more as a reference than the actual formula. A fair amount of Cobalion trainers still use them, so are a fair amount of trainers from other schools, many have move on to find the next big thing. Rumor has it that the Cobalion College is theorizing a whole new ultimate formula, but no information of such thing can be found. All the students and teachers deny the claim of such thing even existing.
Cobalion College has a specific focus on Pokemon types, mostly because it works so well with their system but also because they believe it is only natural for take advantage of what the nature has to offer. Water puts out fire is such an rudimentary concept that children are taught in elementary science, so why not utilize that knowledge to the fullest in Pokemon battling? Most, if not all, Cobalion College's students can remember all the dual types chart by the end of year one and can effectively utilize typing advantage in battles.
They recently started a(n) (optional) battle breeding programme, specialized in breeding Pokemon for battle or contest purpose. Just like how all the Pokemon racing stables would breed their racing Pokemon, each and every parental pairing is based on things like lineage, move sets, personalities and such, to give them the highest odds of creating the next arena destroyer in the future. Just as expected, this programme has invited even more controversy about Cobalion College being the cold-blooded, result-driven maniacs that do not really love Pokemon but the idea of winning with them.

Terrakion College
Terrakion College is supposed to be the rival of Cobalion College in the early era yet their performance has been ever disappointing. An underachiever for six and a half decades, Terrakion College has gone through a lot of innovations and changes but none has been able to bring them great results so far. Sure, they do have some excellent alumni, even a few champions, but many have argued that the few brilliant individuals can be a champion no matter what school are they from. They are just that talented and they just so happened to be a part of Terrakion College. As for the majority of the Terrakion alumni, it is agreed among fans that they are just one bar below the average bar of the competition, with less of them in the highest level of competition on average throughout the years. Some even go as far as to say that those who apply for Terrakion are only doing so because they are not accepted into other schools, which is actually untrue because these schools are not allowed to reject a student unless in special circumstances. More so, Terrakion College still usually has the second largest intake of student each year, mostly because it is located in an area with higher population density but still, its performance has not make future Pokemon trainers not wanting to go to them.
Terrakion College's philosophy and core teaching is a widely criticized subject of the school. Somewhat contradicting to the Cobalion's view, Terrakion College believes everyone is different and everyone shall find their own system rather than being forcefully shove into a system with everyone else. The college's task is merely to discover and refine one's talent into the highest level possible and let them walk their own path. It sounds like a very generous idea with a fair dose of liberty in it but the result is not showing. Does it mean that Terrakion just does not get the more talented people over 65 years of education? Or maybe the philosophy is simply flawed?
True to their individualistic view, Terrakion College has the best breeding programme and training among the four schools. A true presentation of their philosophy, it is widely believed that they are so good with it because they genuinely believe that every Pokemon is uniquely awesome and so put all their heart and love into their breeding effort and adolescence training.

Virizion Academy
Virizion Academy has a ten years delay of opening time due to some issues with the local government and was forced to play catch-up right from the beginning, using various tactics just to attract enough students in the first few years of establishment. Virizion Academy has eventually become a force to reckon with, shaking up the sport with all the innovative strategies created by their students. It is their alumni that put up a serious contention against the field full of Cobalion System users and challenged the perspective that Cobalion System is the only way to succeed and compete at the highest level. Most Virizion products are a joy to watch as they usually implement uniquely interesting strategies in battles.
Virizion Academy knows that they cannot compete with Cobalion College when it comes to a systematic approach of battle and Terrakion already has the biggest heart so Virizion puts their focus on adaptability and innovation. Virizion Academy believes that everything systematical is counterable and readable so it makes sense to be able to adapt to any situation. At the same time, innovation and creativity create unpredictability and situations not seen before for their opponent to solve in an instant. This is especially true when it comes to all the battling moves Virizion alumni used on their Pokemon -- they tend to have one or two rarely seen moves on their Pokemon to use when special situation arises. Many Virizion alumni also run unorthodox strategies like weathers, baton passes, status spam and more. If you can think of a strategy, there is a chance you will find someone from Virizion Academy to be experimenting with it. It is also worth mentioning that Virizion Academy did very well on team battle(and so far has the highest win rate on team battles among the schools), largely thanks to creativity when finding strategies pairing for their Pokemon and all the different combos. The first inter-school duo(in the old time, most teams were formed by schoolmates but it has changed since then; you can find all sort of pairing now) that became champion is between a Terrakion and a Virizion.
Virizion Academy trains their students well when it comes to finding a solution creatively. Puzzles are a very common method used in their programmes and they have extensive studies on Pokemon moves, from new move creation to the study of the "move glossary". Virizion Academy is likely the most worldly of the schools as they actively study films of Pokemon battle in other regions and have a mandatory world culture subject, all to give their students a better understanding of the big, wide world and perhaps inspiration for the battling and coordinating.

Keldeo Academy
Shaking up the Big 3 landscape is the Keldeo Academy, and shaking up the landscape it did, and no one really saw it coming at such a rapid rate. Indeed, it was very tough for the Keldeo Academy to break into the scene and it was largely thanks to its founder's reputation that they were able to attract some students to begin with. The founder and Terrakion alumna, Priscilla “Lady of the Lake” Emmitt was one of the most talented trainers/coordinators in the region. There were only a few who choose to commit to both battle and contest and only a portion of them could get to the highest level on both and Priscilla happened to be one of the best on both of them. A few years after retirement from the scene, Priscilla set up Keldeo Academy and some people were willing to give it a chance, and a chance was all Keldeo Academy needed to insert themselves as a legit school for Pokemon education.
Just like Virizion Academy, Keldeo Academy knew they have to distinguish themselves from the others to attract students and they did just that. Keldeo Academy was the home of many artistic students and promoting creativity in a different way from Virizion Academy. They were able to incorparate many artistic feat into Pokemon battling, like cooking, photography, dancing, music and even rhetoric. No one ever game plan against a dancing Snorlax that is as agile as an Ambipom but they do now with Keldeo Academy in the game. The Keldeo crowd always has an edgy atmosphere around them and some people consider Keldeo Academy to be the "hipster school" but real artists could care less about these labels, especially when they are from the mass of Mareep with the artistic appreciation of a...Mareep.
Keldeo Academy was the school that brought Pokemon contest into mainstream in the region. Before Keldeo Academy, the Pokemon contest scene has been lackluster for a while. The Big 3's performance in this department was simply not good enough and foreigners were the constant winners in the big contests around the land. The Keldeo crowd was the one to balance the scale and they have been very strong in the contest scene ever since then. Keldeo and the foreigners were competing at the highest level for a while now but the other three schools have been putting more effort into coordinator training ever since.
In terms of battle scene, Keldeo has done okay so far, a few breakout stars here and then but never overwhelmingly so. But, when you take statistic into consideration, that Keldeo has the lowest intake per year on average, and they were the youngest school in the region, not even the haters would deny that Keldeo has been doing an excellent job so far. One cannot say the same to Terrakion College though, which has been taking more bullets as every new school seems to be over them in time.

Established: Year 1058
Independent
Not everyone has the luxury or interest to go through three years of school to become a Pokemon trainer. Some in the more rural areas prefer their own form of education and training and some others believe(or prefer) in their homeschooling ability more than the society's education system. It is for people like these that the Pokemon Battle and Contest Association create these tests for, ten years after the establishment of Keldeo Academy. Any adult can apply to take the same series of exams alongside the students of the schools and those who pass will be rewarded a trainer license just like any of the graduating students. Applicants are free to go to any of the four schools to take the exam.
Pokemon battle enthusiasts who think they can become an official trainer without the proper education will be disappointed by their chance, as the passing rate of an independent exam taker is about 15%. While the passing rate might be intimidating, it is largely skewed because most people who apply to this are people who think Pokemon training is easy and can be done without any training, maybe with both hands tied behind their back too, and the exam has no sympathy to any kind of delusion. Those who take Pokemon training seriously have no problem with what is tested.
There are only a handful of independent trainers in the scene and most of them walk a lonely path, without the support of neither the school nor the fans. They do not put up great results either; not many can go above the B rank for their whole career. All of these are reasons why it is much better to join any of the schools.

Foreigner
Foreigner used to be a sub-group of independent, as they are not associated with any school, but as these foreigners are Pokemon trainers and coordinators from other regions, their performance in the competition eventually opens up this new category for themselves. Unlike the independent, foreigners are a strong threat to the local contestants and some of them, two to be precise, even go as far as to become the champion of the region. After all, most Pokemon trainers and coordinators who look to go overseas are established and experienced. In fact, it can be intimidating for an inexperienced Pokemon Trainer because they are requested to take the same tests as the local to be able to get a trainer license. To be fair, the tests are easy for any trainer with their knowledge but when they see that other regions have no such restriction, most of them are going to the other regions. Experienced trainers can get the license directly by proving their qualification through many ways: showing their matches and such on video(Internet makes everything easy), showing their Pokemon Battle achievement like badges and trophies or having a letter of recommendation from credited people like a professor.
Just like any pro sport environment, foreigners largely play the "Heel" role, or Away team, in any competition. Fans enjoy booing and trying to annoy them as they are fighting against any of the four schools. Despite the hostility and perhaps a hint of xenophobia, there are a few cases of foreigners becoming fan's favorite after competing in the scene for a decent amount of time. In the recent years, as the region are more open to the world than ever, fans are not as hostile to foreigners as the past but any newcomer does still have to expect to be booed for a period of time.

All sorts of fluff information.
Elementalists
It is widely accepted that human are the ultimate creation of Arceus, created by fusing all 18 elements into a single being, which explains the adaptability of the human race and also the lack of obvious weaknesses to any element. However, no one knows why some turn out to be elementalists while others are normal. In the past, elementalists are widely regarded as the chosen of the Gods, the few who are born to lead mankind to a better future, and that is why they wield the God's power. Modern science does not believe in that though and consider elementalists to be a result of mutation or genetic dysfunction, that makes a single element stands out among the eighteen of them in someone's body.
Either way, elementalists are not easy to be in today's world. In the past, as mentioned above, they are feared and respected for their power; now, they are feared and be considered dangerous without care. That is why Varius has set up a special academy(for their 10th to 12th grade) for the elementalists to learn how to control their power. Elementalists that are interested in becoming Pokemon trainers are allowed to join the Pokemon Academy, they just need to take some extra classes about their power while being there.
For those who have their power awakened before 10th grade, or even born with, are required to wear some special equipment that forcefully shut down their elemental power. This is for the safety of the society and is not optional. For those who acquire their power later, they are still required to go through the special academy. The employed and/or a parent will be given monetary compensation while they are there.
Post-graduated elementalists are highly sought after by the military and police forces for their ability in physical conflicts. Science departments are also willing to pay highly for voluntary test subject. Others simply go back to their normal life and live just like a commoner, with no interest in using their power to do anything. Some even goes as far as to put the power controlling equipments back on themselves just so they can be treated no different from ordinary human being.

Pokemon's Perspective - Capture
Every Pokemon in the wild lives by the unwritten law of jungle -- the strong survive and the weak are expected to die after losing a battle against their predators, becoming food for the fittest and a few days later, back to the soil as fuel to keep the circle of life going. Hence, Pokemon are usually appreciative when they live after a defeat and are willing to do what are asked for them, if that is the reason they are still alive. It is well documented that Pokemon do make use of other species, like the Combee family have been known to kidnap Weedle from their nests and use grown Beedrill as soldiers for example.
Getting caught by a human trainer is far from the worst fate for a Pokemon and most Pokemon will not complaint about it. It does take some time for them to get comfortable to the real lifestyle though, be it getting used to the trainer or bonding with teammates. Anxiety and fear are not uncommon for a newly captured Pokemon but most of them keep these feelings to themselves so they appear normal to others. It is the Pokemon trainer's responsibility(and an essential subject in school) to help new members of his/her team settling into the new environment.
Urban Pokemon though, act very differently from wild Pokemon, as they have been around human being and their society since the dawn of their life and most of them are well-trained by their owners for tasks like Pokemon battle, coordination, or any other tasks they are likely be doing in the future. Hence, they are very comfortable working with trainers right away after getting picked up.

Pokemon's Perspective - Inter-Species Friendship/Compatibility
Naturally, Pokemon stick with their own kind but it is not rare to see individual Pokemon of multiple species grouping together and befriending other species, for many reasons. One reason, closer to the law of jungle, is mutual benefit, like a lone Ariados teaming up with a lone Scyther on food hunt or the classic Mantyke and Remoraid duo. Another reason, this one closer to humanity, is genuine friendship or romance. Researchers have positive evidence that Pokemon do enjoy companionship, more than just their own family, and there are plenty of video documentaries, photos and paintings around the world on this subject. One famous instance is a painting named "Rapport", depicts Pokemon of various species sharing berries and listening to Meloetta alongside a small pond in a forest.
What if you just put two random Pokemon in a room then? How do you determine what might happen inside the room? Scientists have been doing some serious research on these and have come up with several factors so far. First and most important is egg group. Pokemon in the same egg group are very compatible with each others and are very likely to become friends or lovers if given enough time to interact.
Secondly, diet and habitat. Two herbivores or a herbivore and an omnivore will have an easier time bonding together as they are not a direct threat to each others, assuming the omnivore will not go crazy over meat. Herbivore has a natural fear of carnivore deep inside their gene, decreasing their chance of befriending each other naturally. Pokemon of the same habitat understand each other better and some scientists even suggest that Pokemon languages are divided by habitat so you have Fish Pokemon talking "ocean language" and mountain inhabitants talking in "mountain language" but that is still a hypothesis at this point.
Another factor is typing. Pokemon are not stupid, a Water Pokemon isn't going to just walk up to a Pichu and hug it. They usually keep their distance from those they are weak against to increase their chance of survival in the unforgiving wild and that attitude carry on after capture.

Trainer as a Profession
It might be true that people from another planet, universe or dimension might find Pokemon to be very interesting creature but for the people in Pokeverse, they are just everyday's animal. They will be amazed by great feat like a Magikarp leaping over a ten meters building but they will not care about a Bulbasaur strolling around in a forest.
Adding to the fact that trainer or coordinator is a very risky career path in terms of job safety and income regularity, it is not hard to understand why not many people pursuit this particular career. Largely seen as a dream job like pro athlete or singer than reality, Varius region produces around 100 to 150 trainers per year, with the maximum recorded so far being 204.
Gettng a trainer's license is merely the beginning and it is sad but true that not many trainers make it big in this cutthroat profession that shares no mercy to the unsuccessful. Many trainers retire after merely a few years. Common reasons are irregular income, repeated sports injuries and giving up after reflecting their performance and know they won't make it big.
Of course, all of them are the trainer's personal decision. There are trainers who fight in the lower divisions for many years now out of their sheer passion for the sport, living a frugal life or taking another job to supply their income. On the other side of the spectrum, there are plenty of trainers who leave after getting to a decent rank to pursuit other interests like opening their own fashion line and so on.

Education in Varius
First to ninth grade are considered essential by Varius' government and cover all the fundamental and basic knowledge for the new generation. After graduating 9th grade from secondary school, graduates can choose to work immediately or pursue further education in various high school or college around the region. High schools are general school that most people ended up enrolling into while college are very specific to a subject, like science college, medical college, Four Schools of Justice and are made for those who want to pursue a career in a highly specialized field.

Starting Cities
These are the cities you will be starting in in the beginning of the game. Your character doesn't need to live there before entering the school. Players can come up with their own hometown.
West - Cobalion - Aerawatch City
- Located in an area going H.A.M. on industrialization.
- Second most modern city of the region, losing only to the capital.
- High tech, high life.
- Tourist spots: science-themed theme park, museum, lab tour(not always available).
East - Terrakion - Assedo City
- The old capital; now a place where traditionalists live and proud of.
- Strong history; an area full of warfare in the past and a hotspot for historian and archaeologist.
- A place with strong Varius root and presents the most authentic sides of Varius to the world.
- Has the population with the highest average age in the region.
- Not very popular for tourists(the city has been accused for being xenophobic and unfriendly in the past) but some come here because of interest in Varius's past.
North - Virizion - Portwich City
- Hosts the largest port of the region and thus, has the highest tourists traffic of the region
- High cultural diversity, has the most ethnically diverse population of their region thanks to the influx of immigrants
- One can find all sort of exotic goods from here and people speaking different kind of languages
- World Performance Centre, where one can come to watch artistic performance of all kind from international artists
South - Keldeo - Dinsifora City
- Located in a rural area.
- Technically a city but no one would argue if you say it's just a big town. In fact, it is after the establishment of Keldeo Academy that it is promoted to a city.
- Sister city of Ravergamo, the art capital of Varius
- Has a "medieval village" sort of vibe but with modern tech.
- Consider a center spot for travelers to the more rural part of the southern area so there's plenty of people come and go everyday.
- Cabins built in the surrounding wood are sold at a high price(and safety measurement are taken to prevent wild Pokemon from disturbing the area). There is a petition campaign going on, asking the government to stop "selling out" and using Pokemon's natural habitat for profit.

Misc. Info of Varius Region
- The new capital, Nova Grandis,is located in the middle of the region, a gigantic modern planned city most newly built by the elite designers, constructors and other professionals of the needed fields from the world. Most major Pokemon activities like tournaments are run there.
- One of the biggest scientific achievement in the capital is the Tower of Babel. An organic Pokemon storage(human-made Safari Zone in a sense) and research center that pierces through the sky and goes deep into the ground. Inside are various zones like volcanic zone for Fire Pokemon, oceanic zone for aquatic Pokemon and vice versa. In my world, Pokemon cannot be converted to code(which to me, is more of a Digimon thing, so I will not be using that) and be stored inside a PC. Instead, they are stored inside this Tower of Babel. Trainers trade the right for researcher to research them for a place to live and caretaking service.
- Trainers cannot have more than six Pokemon with him/her at once for many reasons. The official-to-the-Pokeverse reason is having more than six and the trainer will have too much things to focus for his/her attention, which is true. Another big reason is safety measurement; a potential criminal can pretty much raze a city if he is allowed to bring 400 Charizards with him. Pokeball scanners are commonly found on city's entrance.
- For delivery services, trainers can request for a the ToB delivery service with the official app on their smartphone for various requests but most commonly, to take a Pokemon just caught back to the ToB. A ToB worker will soon arrive to the spot to pick up Pokeball
- ToB delivery service also handles trainer travel comes tournament time. Trainers get free ride - usually on top of a bird Pokemon - from anywhere in the region to the capital and then back to the same spot. For trainers with phobias related to air travel, they are allowed to claim for reimbursement for their train ride to and back from the capital OR be hypnotized by a Pokemon from the ToB worker for the course of the flying trip.

Homebrew - Poke Edge
Land Mobility
Prerequisties: Water Pokemon
Cost: 2 Tutor Points
Effect: Change the Pokemon's Overland speed to [(Swim Speed / 2) + 1]. This Edge may not be taken with Advanced Mobility(Overland) but can be furter boosted by increasing the Pokemon's Swim Speed.
With a fair amount of training, Water Pokemon can use their Water energy to condense the water vapor of its surrounding into a water-like surface. This allows the Pokemon to flow and glide slightly above the surface like it is swimming in water. Due to the constant need of said conversion and gravity, the Pokemon is unable to levitate above the ground surface without getting pulled down. It is documented that some wild Pokemon know this technique as well, mostly for survival purpose like having a better chance against fishermen or other Pokemon predators on land.

Pokemon Loyalty
Wild Pokemon usually start around 2 for loyalty, some might start a 1(or 0 in very rare case) for various reasons like hatred toward humankind, unwilling capture or possible hostile trainer action before capture.
Urban Pokemon mostly start at a high 2(2.99 is still 2 but will go to 3 very fast) or 3 as they are more comfortable to the whole ordeal.
Just as the book has stated, befriending Pokemon will yield higher starting loyalty. Starting loyalty are also subject to change in every encounter. If you save a regularly bullied Bidoof from a bunch of bullies and proceed to treat it with love, starting at high 3 or even 4 is possible.

Pokemon Skill Background
All Pokemon have their own skill background. All unlisted skills are untrained by default aside from education skills, which start as pathetic. I am sure one can find a lot of uses for them in the campaign, even the non-combat ones. Say you are playing a high intimidate, low charm guy who just saves a kid from a bully, instead of trying to calm the crying kid with your scary face, you can send out your charming little Pichu to cheer the boy up.
Pokemon Control
Pokemon control is shared by the player and the GM. As this is largely a solo-oriented game, unless the players all start up in the same school and team up immediately, the GM will be taking control of your Pokemon for the most part as to provide you with extra interaction and also to annoy you if you happen to have a Pokemon with a particularly annoying personality. When players are interacting with other characters, they are free to control their Pokemon but do expect some intervention from the GM on the troublemakers who just don't play nice with their trainers. Unless the player specifically asks the GM to control his/her Pokemon in combat, the player will have full control of their Pokemon in battle and contest.
Judging Social Rolls
Social rolls are not absolute, especially to strangers. Also, proper RP will help your mechanical chance in social situations. For instance, no stranger will not find your 4'11" character scary even if you roll 36 on intimidation on your initial greeting but if you then immediately pull out two knifes and shoot them exactly an inch away from their groin area, and then proceeding to roll another 36, the man will spill out what he knows while peeing in his pants. In short, Roleplay > Rollplay, social rolls are enhancers, not absolute.
1 Point - 500 PokeDollar2 Points - 1000 PokeDollar2 Points - Starter Package: 3x Pokeball + 3x Potion + 4x Enriched Water2 Points - New Trainer Discount Coupon: 40% off a single Equipment, Held Item, Evolutionary Item, Vitamin or TM(Consider this a future investment)3 Points - Survival Package: 1x Single Sleeping Bag + 1x Single Tent3 Points - Pokeball Package: 5x Pokeball + 1x Premier Ball + 1x Special Ball of your choice but not Friend or Luxury Ball3 Points - Crafting Package: Your pick of crafting kits and groomer's kit worth a maximum of $2,0003 Points - Discounted Weapon: Fine weapon of your choice5 Points - Deluxe Survial Package: 1x Single Sleeping Bag + 1x XL Single Tent + 1x Lighter + 1x Flashlight + 1x Water Filter + 25ft of Utility Rope5 Points - Full of Balls Package: 10x Pokeball + 2x Premier Ball + 1x Special Ball of your choice but not Friend or Luxury Ball

A tall, athletic girl whose goal is to become a famous criminal alongside being a Pokemon Trainer.
File 1 - Scraggy, F
File 2 - Buneary, F
File 3 - Abra, M
File 1 - Scraggy, F
Height: 1' 8"
Weight: 29.5lbs
This Scraggy seems to believe she is the hand of justice, as she takes any matter in hand to help out the "right side". Righteous in her own way, she is seen around the barn protecting the weak and settling various matters. While she has her hands on everything, she has a particularly high hatred on bullying and is always there to keep the bully away. Her position means she has very few friends but that does not prevent her from doing her thing.
You might imagine her as an intimidating figure, sort of like a police officer, and no one would dare to mess with her but in truth, she was a regular laughing stock in the barn. For a Scraggy, she is...don't tell him I said this, like John Terry(one of your classmates, "famous" for his horrendous dexterity and near-zero athletic capability. Some of the other classmates wonder if this dude would be able to hit anything with a Pokeball when he's out in the wild).
I am going to explain this here because let's be honest here, your Pokemon knowledge is going to be a problem when you are out there like John Terry with Pokeball throwing. Scraggy has an extra layer of skin that they wear like pants. Extremely durable by nature, Scraggy will pull the skin up to shield themselves from attack but the downside is that their hands are needed to hold this "skin-pants" up. Scraggy, as a whole, know how to wear and use that skin since their birth but this one, in particular, is super clumsy with it. Pokemon in the barn loved to tease her and forced her to chase them. She would then chase them on full speed and eventually steps on her own skin and falls down. She did try to get off her skin for a chase but then her skin was took by one of the Pokemon and they were playing "pass the ball" with it, making the Scraggy went round and round like an idiot until the ranch owner stepped in.
Despite all of the clumsiness and righteousness, this Scraggy is a good girl and is willing to do what is asked. The ranch owner never really had a problem with her, aside from the rare occasion where she headbutt-ed a Pokemon too hard while defending against the bullied. I think this is a fairly easy Pokemon to handle, even you should have no problem with it...unless you plan to do things against her codes of moral. You are not going to do bad things, right?
[This Scraggy isn't the smartest out there, you can always guile her into doing the wrong thing while letting her believe she is doing the right thing in a Robin Wood sort of way.]

File 2 - Buneary, F
Height: 1' 4"
Weight: 11.9lbs
Gentle and charming, this Buneary is a popular figure in the barn, always surrounded by multiple Pokemon - mostly male - at any day and time. She is like a noble mistress, if a Buneary could be one, as her mannerism resembles one of a well-mannered human being than a critter in the wild. Well, at least that is what the barn owner told me, I personally can't differentiate this sort of nobility, pretentious crap as a man of normal society so don't blame me if this is wrong.
One thing I can affirm you, is that this Buneary has a body built for sports...or battle, probably, but I like her in sports better. If I were a sport scout, I would take her for my gymnastic team but for you, just make sure you utilize her flexibility and acrobatic feat and you will do fine. Buneary, if you are not aware which I believe you are not, have excellent acrobatic potential but this one is especially great.
However, you might need to be careful with this one. As a trainer who have been with few dozens of baby Pokemon and also the father of two children, I can tell you now that this one could be a spoiled B-word - brat, beyotch, take your pick - and a huge pain in your ass if not taken care of properly. This is the problem with Pokemon and human alike, if you give them everything they want when they are very young, they will take everything for granted for the rest of his life. This Buneary is like a little princess in the barn so I doubt she will be satisfied without those attentions suddenly. Finding some other Pokemon who can either keep her in line or support her blindly will likely help the situation, depending on your personal approach to your Pokemon.
I recommend this to you as I believe you can make a great tag team with her. Both of you are very capable in the physical department and I am sure the both of you will have some fun together. She also offers you many options, as she is likely good in coordination if you ever want to try that and has the same potential on battle.

File 3 - Abra, M
Height: 3' 0"
Weight: 43.8lbs
You are a big girl now -- and I don't mean your height. You should be very proud of your height though; there are plenty of athletes out there who would want your physical gift from Arceus Himself. Anyway, you are a big girl now so I am going to share some life experience with you. To be successful in your career, whatever it may be, you have to have friends from many other jobs and to keep them close, you have to take shit for them and this Abra, is exactly that.
This Abra knows how to use his talent in teleport and uses it well. A ultimate prankster since day one of his life, he is a huge source of terror and chaos in the barn. Some Abra are fine with simple pranks but this one really has the brain of a prankster and I have seen better pranks from him than some of my students in the past when looking at the many videos provided by the barn owner.
One thing that makes him so good in what he does is his attention to detail. A patient observer who takes his time to look at everything to a micro level, he finds the weakness of his victim before planning a prank on him. I myself am not very fancy on observation so this doesn't really impress me. Nevertheless, it's for you so, your call.
As for why I recommend this to you aside from the fact that I HAVE to, there is none. My advice is simple, stay away from this useless species known as Abra. Picking a Abra is stupid, all it can do is teleport around until you eventually land a punch on his face, just like I did when some idiots tried to prank me on high school and I have been "prank-free" since then.
[You know that your P.E. professor hates Psychic type. He is a very simple man with typical Jock-ish view on Nerds and this article is likely biased.]
[Just explaining, as a GM, I am not giving this Abra to the character because I am sabotaging her character. It's more of a mechanical pick as I think teleport is very useful to a criminal and I personally enjoy a love-hate relationship between a trainer and her starter.]

A competitive trainer looking to make it big very fast and very hard.
File 1 - Elekid, M
File 2 - Shroomish, F
File 3 - Panpour, M
File 1 - Elekid, M
Height 2' 3"
Weight 57.6lbs
This little buzzer is one hyperactive Pokemon and garners himself the nickname "Energizer" from the ranch owner. Despite his active nature, he is willing to listen to command and can follow all things requested; it's just that after he is done, he slip away and do what he want, usually running around like the kid he is. The hardest thing for him is probably sit in a spot without doing anything, the best record he has so far for this is 3 minutes and 18 seconds.
Personally, I see him as an athletic freak as he is oversized for his age -- average of Elekid is 2' 0" and 51.8lbs - he is over both and he is still growing. You might think he is slower but no, he outrun a lot of other Pokemon, even some faster species like Shinx.
This Elekid has some attachment to Fighting type as well as he spent plenty of time sparring with other Fighting types around the ranch. I have put him through some tests a few days ago and what the ranch owner said are true. He almost outwrestled a Machop and he threw some good punches in the boxing test. With proper training, I see him being a very good fighter.
Oh yeah, he is still a little too young - the ranch owner pretty much shoved his Pokeball to me and asked me to take him away - so expect child-like behaviors from time to time. I don't think he is going to be too much trouble though as long as you keep an eye on him and give him some free time everyday to do what he wants -- I don't think I have to repeat what you are taught again, you scored like 90 and above on every caretaking subjects so you will be fine. This is also part of why I decided to give this one to you, you can handle him.
It is true that Elekid is rather one-dimensional on movesets - no record of them automatically learning moves other than Normal, Electric and a single Fighting move - and I do understand your preferred approach. I am thinking that if you eventually become a great tutor or have enough money to hire one, you should be able to teach him a more varied moveset. The region has seen some great Electivire in the past and I am sure you can show the world another one.

This Shroomish is hard to read, the one thing I am sure of is that she likes to play guesses with her Effect Spore. She likes to spray her spore around and see what effect do they have this time. If she jumps up in joy, she makes the right guess; otherwise, she appears a little sad...until she finds another victim to test her spore on.
She also has a weird behavior of eating her meal from the smallest piece to the largest and she would line them up from left to right in a straight line before consuming them one by one. She plays with her food on occasion and might have hidden talent on arts or geometry. She can form a perfect form of different shapes with berries but after she is done with them, she will put them back into a straight line before consuming them.
Aside from that, she does not seem to do much else. The ranch owner says that she can be seen sitting quietly and alone on the quiet part of the ranch and will sometime laugh on her own. Maybe she likes imagining things and be alone? Or maybe she just have not found a good friend yet? We will be leaving you to find the answer.
She appears to be a complete introvert -- like it isn't obvious enough from what I said above. The ranch workers have try to encourage her to play with other Pokemon but she much prefers to sit aside and watches others play.
She does like raining though and it is on rainy day that she is most active, like surprisingly active. She dances around in the rain like she were the lead dancer in the movie of the same name and maybe you can try capture a Pokemon with Rain Dance and see if they can become best friend.
I am giving her to you because I think she is very easy to handle and if she can evolve into a Breloom, that is one solid Pokemon with some tricks up her sleeve given enough tutelage. If you would prefer to start with something milder, this is the choice.

File 3 - Panpour, M

If you hate silence and much prefer a noisy environment, then this Panpour is the one to get. I have been around many talkactive Pokemon before but this Panpour has to be on top of that mountain. He seems to have an opinion on everything you do and will express them right away without caring about your feelings yet you cannot say anything about him without hurting his feeling or make him angry.
This Panpour is also very high of himself and feels like everything he does is the right way to do things. He likes being in a commanding position and totally enjoy telling other people or Pokemon what to do. My suggestion for you is that never to put him and another Pokemon with leader quality in your team at the same time or I am sure major conflicts will ensue. This is not to say it's all bad though because this Panpour happens to be very good at commanding as there are many occasions that Pokemon have done their tasks faster under his guidance. You just have to accept a second-in-command and work with him.
One big reason I think this Panpour is good for you after I check your result is his knack for survival, which is one of your lowest scored subject. This Panpour is urbanly trained but has the heart of a wild child, sneaking out of the ranch a few times - and clever enough to be asking other Pokemon to do a lot of things to keep the ranch owner busy so he can sneak away - into the nearby forest. With him at your side and you being a good listener, going into the wild will be much safer for you.
Another thing to know about this Panpour is his extra large appitite. You better ready your money for your food expense because this Panpour can eat. In fact, food is part of why he sneaks out of the barn many times. The barn does provide him with substantial amount of berries but he just wanted more. Too bad he isn't something like a Grimer, otherwise you might be able to train him to swallow his opponents in battle.
And don't worry about him not listening to you, the ranch trainer has been putting a lot of hours to make sure he will listen to a trainer's command, no matter how much he thinks his own is better.

Nature: Proud/Decisive/Adamant/Bold
Ability: Decoy/Gluttony(either one fits him, a leader and a big eater)
Background: Wild Commander
Increased: Survival/Command
Decrease: Charm(too bossy for others to like him)/perception(relies on survival and instinct more than pure observation)

- Taskmaster: Every academy teaches their students to take proper care of their Pokemon and encourage uses of Pokemon Center. The rough philosophy of Taskmaster just doesn't fit. I would allow Taskmaster if I am opening up "Independent" but since I am sticking to the four schools, no Taskmaster.
- Type Sync: I know this is canon now with Alolan form in the game but my stance is still the same: I am sorry if I disappoint the fans of type syncing but I personally don't enjoy it. I think it is more challenging and fun for a Fire Ace to craft a team with the current list of Fire Pokemon instead of having 95%(counting out the legendaries) of the whole Pokemon roster at his disposal. Limited options mean one has to think how to utilize them to their best. I also see the possibility of an optimizer type-syncing whoever he wants into a specific type to form the ultimate single element team that is previously impossible and then raising a lot of balance issues, not a good thing in my book. This doesn't mean type-shifted Pokemon will not be in the game, just rare, and this ban is more on players cannot type shift a Pokemon themselves.
FAQ
For misc. stuffs I have not written in full and also a compilation of applicants' questions.
Q1. Is there any chance I can play an underage character?
A1. While I can submit to the premise that people in the Pokeverse mature much earlier than people on Earth, it just doesn't fit this game, with Pokemon Trainer being a profession and a career, and the whole education system and such. The only concept I can think of is a genius, but if you have other ideas in mind, do tell.
Q2. How intelligent are the Pokemon in this game?
A2. Pokemon are closer to their anime counterpart in this game so they are more human-like in a way. They can generally understand what you are talking about as long as you are not throwing all the fancy words at them. A Pokemon in the wild isn't going to understand what is a "computer" or "automatic door" but they do know "flower" and "mountain. A clever Pokemon growing up in a lab, and pay attention to the scientists' conversation, will understand things like "test tube" and such.
Q3. What kind of battle formats are there in this game?
A3. All of them. Pokemon battle, full combat battle, 2v2 and 3v3 in both Pokemon-only or full combat, contest, whatever you can think of, they exist in this game. For team format, you can team up with either PC or NPC or both. ICly, most trainers find their niche and stick with them, only a few try to do many things at once.
Q4. Can I apply with multiple characters?
A4. Yes, feel free to go with as many as you want.
Q5. Can I have gun as my weapon?
A5. No, for two reasons. One, gun technology is underdeveloped in Pokeverse and guns are considered dangerous and exclusive to the military and special force. Two, guns don't make for good visual experience, an important aspect of any major sport, to the viewers than classic ranged weapons like bow and arrow or kunai and shuriken that can be seen flying through the air and hitting the target.
Q6. Is there a region map?
A6. No, for multiple reasons. One, I am absolutely bad at mapping. Two, I personally like the "explore and discover" approach. It's the same way I feel about the Pokemon games where I just go out and learn about the region step by step, town by town. Three, I kind of like the ability to make up places as the RP progress and slowly paint out the whole region that way. I do have a basic idea on the region's structure and what cities are available to put out there, I just have not land them all over the region. Four, it allows players to made up their hometown and so in their applications if they want to. One key aspect to this game, in my vision, is that we are on a journey to exploring the region together.
Q7. Can I at least have some info on the area around the starting cities?
A7. I am sorry but no. I just want people to pick a school because it fits their character or they like what the school represents or any other reasons, not because they are playing a Fire or Earth trainer and pick the school that has a volcano or desert right next to it.
Q8. If I am starting as an Elemental Ace, does that mean I am guaranteed to start something of said type?
A8. In the previous game, this comes up and my answer is that if you don't pick a Pokemon of said type, you will have a few days to find one in the wild to retain the Ace. I will try my best to put one in your way if you don't intentionally miss your chance. If that fails, you can re-distribute your features.
Q9. Can I re-use the idea from the previous rendition of the game?
A9. Go ahead.
Q10. What other regions are out there? Are the canon regions in?
A10. All canon regions are included so feel free to be someone who come from those places. Aside from that, the only homebrew region is the Qianhe region that is based on the oriental, particularly Japan, S.Korea and China. If you want to play a foreigner with a very oriental vibe(like a former K-Pop star, former idol that is "graduated" and out of work, a puroresu wrestler, a descendant of a samurai bloodline, Chinese chef looking to create the ultimate fusion food), you can come from there. Again, players are free to make up their own region if they want to.
Q11. Normal or playtest cheerleader/researcher?
A11. Pick the version you like and make it clear in your profile.
Q12. Why are you not using February Playtest?
A12. I am looking for a time to read it again and decide whether I want to use it.
Q13. Alola Mon, in or out?
A13. In.
Q14. What's the availability of tutor?
A14. You will have to find one ICly but they are available in the world. However, they do charge a good chunk of money so you are unlikely to use them a lot when you are in the lower ranks.
Q15. Can I start with Type Ace, even though I am not sure what I have for starter?
A15. Yes, you can. You are unlikely to not get one among the choices and I will allow you to have multiple days to find one. If all things fail, you get a free allocation on your features.
Q16. Is Stat Ace the same as Type Ace?
A16. No, you must meet requirement for Stat Ace before you can get into them. You can, however, put your "initially planned" starting features with Stat Ace included and see if you can start with it. If not, you will have to re-allocate your features immediately.
Q17. So, Jailbreaker. Can I relocate my Pokemon from a normal Pokeball to a Modded Pokeball after capture?
A17. Yes and no. For Power Mod and Learning Mod, no because they seem pretty powerful and awarding a full team with it upon becoming a Jailbreaker later on seems crazy. Also, I don't like Friend Ball - you make friendship in my game through roleplay, not mechanics - so there's likely a recipe change for Learning Modification. Fabulous Mod, yes, since they only cater to a narrow usage that is Contest and preparation is a very important aspect of Contest. Also, 2 contest dices are not as powerful as 1d4 levels or Mentor-ish move learning.
