Kane brings out takumi as well. It seems the pokemon has grown to find the concept of MORE nio viewings to be exhausting, but Kane maintains an ironclad grip around takumi's waist as he sings the Nio theme song quietly to himself, making sure not to disturb the other residents in the home.

"Oh Hello there?" Elise said as she placed her guitar aside her.
"There there." Elise said as her arm calmly went to the unknown pokémon and she tried to pat on it's head.

Ira The first page with actual writing after the first page begins with a bad poem: "Minus three, then binary." That last one is easy to figure out; the entire page, and some pages after it, are written in binary. But other than that cryptic clue, the only thing on page one is a drawing of a robot from some bad Science Fiction B-Movie. Page Code: 010101000110110001110010011010010110000100100000011101100110110001110010001000000111100101100010011010010110011001100010011100110110001000100000011010100110001000100000011001100110001100100000010001100010000001110001011011000110100101100001001000000111011001101100011100100010000001110001011001010111100001110001001000000111000101100101011000100110111101100010001000000111100001101111011000100010000001101100011100010110010101100010011011110010000001110100011011000110111101101001011000010111000000100000011011000111001001110001001000000111000101100101011000100110111101100010001111110010000001000110001000000111000001111010011110000110111101111010011000100110100101110110001000000111100101100010011010010110011001100010011100110110001000100000011001100111000100100000011010100111011001110000011000100110100101100011001011000010000001111001011100100111000100100000011001100111000100100111011100000010000001110001011011110111001001100010001000010010000001011010011011000111001001101011011100010110100101100010011100000111000000100000011101000110110001101111011010010110000101110000001011000010000001110100011001100111000101100101001000000111101001101100011100100110101101110001011010010110001001110000011100000010000001101101011011000111000001110000011001100111100101100110011010010110011001110001011001100110001001110000001000010010000001000010011110000111101001100101001000000110110001101011011000100010000001100110011100000010000001100110011010110110010101111000011110010110011001110001011000100110000100100000011110010111011000100000011100000111000101101111011110000110101101100100011000100010000001111010011011110110001001111000011100010111001001101111011000100111000000100000011110000110101101100001001000000100110101101100011010000110001001101010011011000110101100101100001000000111100001101011011000010010000001101010011110000110101101110110001000000110110001100011001000000111000101100101011000100110101000100000011001010111100001110011011000100010000001100101011100100110101001111000011010110111000000100000011110000111000000100000011101000110001001101001011010010010000100001010010001100010000001110100011011000110101101100001011000100110111100100000011001100110001100100000011100010110010101100010011011110110001000100111011100000010000001111000001000000111010001101100011011110110100101100001001000000110110001100011001000000110100001100110011010010110100101100010011011110010000001101111011011000111100101101100011100010111000000101110001000000101100001101011011000010010000001100110011000110010000001110001011001010110001001101111011000100010000001100110011100000010110000100000011000010110110000100000011100010110010101100010011101100010000001100001011011110110001001111000011010100010000001101100011000110010000001001010011110000110111101100010011000100110110100111111 Elise The little Pokemon huddles behind a pillow, not moving as Elise pets it on the head. It feels squishy, like a ziplock bag filled with warm pudding. Daisy and Blossom look curiously at this peculiar creature, unsure of what to make of it. After Elise finishes petting it, the little Pokemon pulls the pillow out of the pillowcase and then hides under the pillowcase. Elise hears it give a faint whimper. Kane Hau give a chuckle as he sees Takumi getting held close, but completely misreads it. "My Pokemon are big fans too," he says. "So are some of the others that live around here. Watch." He inserts the first VHS and presses play while his Pokemon open a window. As the Nio theme drifts gently across the Alolan night, small flying Pokemon like Starly begin to gather in the room.

"Who knows?" Hau says with a shrug. "Maybe they like the action. Maybe they like Nio. Or maybe they like it because the Guardian Deity does."

Hau shoves Rotom under a pillow. While the spookydex emits muffled protests, Hau says: "Every island of Alola is protected by a Guardian Deity- a powerful legendary Pokemon. Melemele Island's deity is called Tapu Koko; it's a hot-tempered, very fast Pokemon that is curious about humans- and is a big Nio fan." Rotom frees itself from under the pillow, but before it can speak, there's a smell of ozone and a rush that causes the blinds and posters to flap wildly and the sheets on the bed to fly off and hit the wall. Rotom is slammed into the wall by the rush as well. Floating above the bed is a Pokemon even taller than Ira. It has wild eyes and smells strongly of ozone, and two very large arms. It also wears an official Nio t-shirt, with wider sleeves than usual to accommodate the larger arms. Hau smiles and spreads his arms in a gesture of welcome. "Tapu Koko, you're just in time!"

Kane had to catch the PJ editions of his Nio hat before it went flying off upon the arrival of the guardian deity. He was immediately awestruck by the mere speed of its arrival. Though, it was equally intimidating, and Kane was rarely intimidated. I mean, he had no problem staring down a psychopath hellbent on killing him earlier that day, but this way was like A REAL SUPERHERO!!!! Kane's normal atmosphere of red bull fueled youthful exuberance was replaced with a meek shyness that made it difficult for him to speak to the creature
"Uhm . . . h-hi Tapu Koko . . . It's really nice to meet you"

Elise too didn't know what to do, mostly because she didn't know what was scaring the strange pokémon so much. The whimper caused Elise start playing her guitar again, as to say that she's not angry. While playing she keeps watching what the pokémon will do, part out of curiosity, part out of pity.

As Elise plays her guitar, the squishy Pokemon moves until it's standing in her shadow. It then flips the pillowcase off its head and begins mimicking her movements again. As it does, Elise notices her skill with the guitar somehow increases again... ***** Tapu Koko inclines its head as it looks at Kane, seemingly unsure what to make of him. Then it sees Kane's Nio PJs and nods once before taking a seat in front of the TV; it then thinks a moment and scoots over, looking at Kane and patting the ground next to it. As Rotom breaks free of the pillow and begins snapping pictures of the Guardian Deity, Hau grins at Kane, saying "See? It likes you!"

Kane gleams red in his cheeks after getting a positive reaction from one of the coolest pokemon he's ever had the pleasure of meeting. While maintaining a vice grip on Takumi, Kane shuffles over to Tapu Koko's side. While the show went on, Kan found himself constantly glancing over to the pokemon, completely enamored by it's aura.

Tapu Koko doesn't speak, growl, grunt, or make any noise. Instead, it just looks at Kane and gives a nod of acknowledgement and turns back to watching the show. *** As Elise finishes with her song, Daisy and Blossom cheer. The squishy Pokemon keeps an eye on Elise to see what she'll do.

Ira raises an eyebrow at the page full of ones and zeros. Binary wasn't difficult to translate, just time-consuming. Plus, it wouldn't be much of a code if it was just straight translated, though he's not sure what "minus 3" means in this context.
Maybe you take away the first three numbers and translate it from there? No, that can't be right, the first number would be a 1, which doesn't work in binary - all letters begin with 0.
Shrugging he begins the laborious process of translating them. At first, it appears to be complete gibberish - Tlria vlr ybifbsb jb - suggesting either a cipher or that he's translating it wrong. However, the cluster of "B"s suggest the former, as does the repeated "qe" start of the ninth and tenth words.
Hoping that he's not just wasting his time, he continues to transcribe it. Six more words in, he strikes gold for identifying it as a cipher - the word "qebob" repeats, which is astronmomically unlikely if it's not a substitution cipher.
Smiling, he goes through much faster, eventually writing out the full piece:
Tlria vlr ybifbsb jb fc F qlia vlr qexq qebob xob lqebo tloiap lrq qebob? F pzxozbiv ybifbsb fq jvpbic, yrq fq'p qorb! Zlrkqibpp tloiap, tfqe zlrkqibpp mlppfyfifqfbp! Bxze lkb fp fkexyfqba yv pqoxkdb zobxqrobp xka Mlhbjlk, xka jxkv lc qebj exsb erjxkp xp tbii! F tlkabo fc qebob'p x tloia lc hfiibo olylqp. Xka fc qebob fp, al qebv aobxj lc Jxobbm?
He sighs. It seems as though the easy part's over and now he'll have to figure out the cipher... until his eye catches the clue again.
"Minus three... Well, it's definitely substitution, so it probably means the letters. Moving them in the alphabet, maybe? But does it mean go three back from this or that they're already three back? And does the original letter count as one?"
He pauses in thought for a minute before shrugging. Well, one way to find out.
He picks a word - the aforementioned qebob - and applies each possibility to it. So, it either translates as Nbyly, Oczmz, Sgdqd or... There.
"There! I've got it!" Ira exclaims quietly, not noticing the pun. Now that he's figure out the means, he starts going through, putting each letter forward three until the message reads clearly.
"Would you believe me if I told you that there are other worlds out there? I scarcely believe it myself, but it's true! Countless worlds, with countless possibilities! Each one is inhabited by strange creatures and Pokemon, and many of them have humans as well! I wonder if there's a world of killer robots. And if there is, do they dream of mareep?"
Now there's a thought. Ira thinks for a moment. Admittedly, they already knew about the existence of other worlds from what the professor had told them, plus it was an established idea. Only last month, The Real Truth magazine had had a letter about the possibility of aliens coming from another dimension. Of course, Ira had dismissed it at the time - as if aliens are the real threat.
Still, this book, assuming it's credible (which he's beginning to suspect it might be, given what he's heard), seemed to confirm it and suggest that there was more to it - other humans. And if there are, who knows what they want. Though he has his doubts about robots and dreaming.
And speaking of dreams. He looks up at the clock, noticing how late it's gotten. Deciphering the text was fairly time-consuming. Shrugging, he gets up to prepare for bed.

As Ira shuffled down the hallway, he hears the sound of the Nio show being played (at a reasonable volume, thankfully.) Looking in to see how his brother and cousin are doing, he sees that Kane is sitting next to a large, spikey-haired Pokemon that smells strongly of ozone and is wearing an oversized Nio t-shirt.

Thanks! Were you trying to help me? She said to the shadowlike pokémon after the rest of the group was done cheering.

Ira blinks, a little taken aback by the sight. Huh. Now there's something you don't see every day.
He quietly steps into the room and waits until there's a break in the episodes - he's not about to spoil his little brother's enjoyment of the show. Also, he probably couldn't if he wanted to, since Kane tends to become selectively blind and deaf to all non-Nio things when it's on.

The shadow Pokemon cowers from Elise for a moment before nodding cravenly in response to her question. It then flinches at the sound of shouting coming from down the hall; though the voice is unmistakably Rotom's, it's a bit muted. Elise can attempt a DC 11 Perception check to make out the words. On a success, she hears what Rotom says (written below) clearly. On a failure, she does not. On an automatic failure, she thinks they're in great danger. *** The last episode (on that tape) ends. The Pokemon in the room, and Hau, take a moment to get up and stretch, only to be surprised by Ira's sudden appearance. Only Tapu Koko is unmoved. "Ira!" Rotom shouts, darting over to the boy. "You missed the first half of season one! The fighting, the action, the amazement! Everything! Also, who would've thought Tapu Koko is a big Nio fan!?!" It gestures the big Pokemon with the mohawk.

Kane gets up and heads over to Ira
"He's an island deity here. The ISLAND GOD HIMSELF is here watching Nio with us! I'm not sure where he got the shirt, but he LOVES the show!"
Kane's clearly enamored with this island deity.

Ira raises an amused eyebrow at Rotom. "I live with Kane. You really think I haven't seen every episode at least three times?"
His attention then falls to the new arrival as Kane introduces him, looking him up and down appraisingly. "Island deity, huh? Well, normally I'd assume you came here looking for worship, but in that t-shirt... yeah, I'm thinking that's not why you're here."
He quickly looks over Kane and Hau. Hmm, no signs of mental tampering, so he probably doesn't have those kinds of powers. Still, best to be careful, t-shirt or no.
After a few moments he nods. "Alright. Good to meet you, Tapu Koko. Always a good idea to get to know the major players in an area if nothing else. Plus, you gave Kane someone else to watch Nio with," And maybe actually socialize with, but can't expect miracles, "so you got my thanks for that. Long as you don't try to mess with him or Elise, I think we'll be cool." He finishes, aware of but not bothered by how easily this pokemon could blast him to atoms if he did want that.

Elise smiled at shadow. Then she heard Rotom shouting something about danger in the next room.
"Wait here." Elise said to the shadow pokémon while dashing out of the room.
"Whe... where is that angry Snorlax?" Elise asks as she arrived at the room in full speed. Looking around she couldn't see the snorlax anywhere.
