What a flight. Almost no legroom, the free snacks were too salty, the drinks were overpriced, the onboard movie was horrible (and they charged exorbitantly high prices for earplugs and blinders), and the only good part about the trip- seeing Indigo Plateau from 30,000 feet up- was ruined when the pilot revealed that he was flying the wrong way to bring you that view. Seriously. Do not fly United Pokemon Airlines. But was it worth it to see Alola? Absolutely. In total contrast to Great Uncle Stan's filthy cabin, everything here seems to be pristine and clean. The sun shines more brightly than you remember, the air smells fresher, and the people seem more cheerful and less crazy than the ones at Stan's hometown. As you disembark the airstair onto the tarmac, you notice a crowd of people and Pokemon ahead, out of the way of the airplanes. They're clearly waiting for new arrivals, so your cousin Hau must be waiting for you there as well.

Kane gets off the plane, cramped and cranky. That was so not accommodating for a 6 foot sword, but there was no way he'd be putting it with the other people's luggage. He spent the entire trip with his leg clutched to his chest, and now it felt like they were never meant to be fully extended. Upon seeing Hau and the crowd, Kane feels uneasy, and stays behind his siblings.

Ira's head darts out of the plane's door, looking left and right for anything unusual before the rest of his body follows. He quickly descends the stairs and looks over the crowd, scanning it both for Hau and for anyone looking at him or his brothers oddly.
In the back of his mind, he's aware that this is a bit excessive, even by his standards, but he's been in a bad mood for the entire flight. Tight, cramped conditions are not his thing in the least - no room to dodge or manuever if anyone comes at you.
Of course, open spaces aren't brilliant either, since there's so many vectors of approach, so he makes sure to keep close to his brother and sister and subtly moves to be between them and the crowd, just in case.

As you make your way through the crowd, you notice a withered looking skeleton standing there, covered in cobwebs, clad in rags, and holding a placard bearing all your names.

As Kane taps the skeleton, a nearby onlooker smiles and shakes his head. "Don't worry, kid, it ain't real," he says. "Some other kid showed up about 30 minutes ago and put that costume on as a joke." On cue, the "skeleton" removes the wig and skull mask, revealing the grinning face of your cousin, Hau. "Hey, you made it!" he says cheerfully.

Kane screeches like a little girl . . . a heroic little girl. As a kneejerk reaction he starts smashing his sword on Hau's head.

"Come on big bro, I wanna leave the plane too!" An enthusiastic Elise said to her bigger brother as he was waiting a sec to looking around. She had been a little moody during the flight, but once the promised land came in sight she cheered up considerably. Unlike her brothers she had no problem about going to the crowd and try to find cousin Hau somewhere there!
A scream left her mouth once she saw a skeleton in the near distance. First she was thinking about the lines of 'what happened here' and 'whose corps is that?' But as it became clear what was going on the girl scared face made place for relief.
"Gosh Hau!" She said while wryly smiling about it a bit.

Hau takes the foam sword smacking his head in stride. Removing the costume, he says "Sorry about scaring you like that, but Grandpa Hala and I had a bit of a bet going as to when you'd get here." You remember Grandpa Hala from the family reunions. He's a friendly man, very large and very strong- a friendly slap on the back is enough to send you sprawling. You remember him performing amazing tricks of strength- like hauling a loaded bus that ran out of gas to the nearest rest stop, five miles away. You also remember him talking about his job as an Island Kahuna- you didn't get most of it at the time, but it sounded like he served double duty as both a Gym Leader and a member of the Elite Four, or their Alolan equivalents. You also know that Hau's parents- your aunt and uncle- join your parents on their annual cruise, and Hau stays with Grandpa Hala for the duration. Honestly, I thought we'd be getting Vin, not Elise. Ah, well. This will still be interesting either way.

Ira starts as he sees the skeleton, darting forward, ready to jump in the way if it attacks Kane.
He looks it over as it starts to move, body tensing as it reaches up to its head. As it takes off the mask, however, he relaxes a little as he recognizes Hau. After a quick check for Psychic residue (eyes normal, movements normal, expression no weirder than usual for being bonked by Kane), he relaxes all the way.
"Sure," he grouses, unimpressed by Hau's explanation, "that's a good reason for scaring us like that." He sighs. "Anyway, how are things over here?"

Hau shrugs, unperturbed. "Some months back, we had an issue, but it wasn't big, and not many people know what happened. Everything's fine now, but nobody's allowed to talk about the incident. Orders from the International Police. If anyone asks, we're just supposed to wave our hand and say 'Never mind all that.'" Seeing Ira reflexively inhale to ask about the incident, Hau waves his hand and says "Never mind all that. C'mon, betcha never seen the cool Pokemon we have here in Alola!" He gestures for you to follow him, even taking some of your bags for you as he does.

Kane, upon realizing that he was not actually in danger, regains his composure, and strikes a trademarks cold hearted hero pose.
"-tt-, I wasn't scared human. That was an otherworldly warcry, designed to strengthen my fortitude in battle. Not that I really needed it to handle a simple skeletal wretchling, but if life on the road has taught me anything . . . it's that you can never be too careful"
Kane looks up to the sun. It hurt. Alot. But he was convinced it made him look cool.

Ira freezes for a moment before exhaling, embarrassed at being pre-empted. "Friggin' figures." He mumbles to himself before raising an eyebrow at Kane.
Suppressing a smile, he puts a hand on Kane's shoulder. "C'mon, hero, let's see what kinda place we'll be dealing with." He follows Hau, keeping his eyes on his surroundings and his hand on Chase's Pokeball.

"Gee I thought someone had died!" Elise laughed away the joke after recovering from the shock of seeing a walking skeleton. She thought a bit about what could have happened here. It seemed rather weird to bring it up and just drop it, kinda like ignoring the snoring snorlax in the room but if Hau said they'd best don't think to much about it it's probably not that important.
"It's alright to be scared, brother! I was scared too." She flat out admitted.
"Wow thanks! I wonder what kind of pokémon live on this island!" She said as she followed Hau to wherever he was going.

Kane breaks character as soon as Elise addresses him
"I said I wasn't scared!!"
He then follows the rest of the group

Out of the airport, and onto the streets of Hau'oli city you go! You recognize most of the Pokemon you see- Snubble, Spinda, Lilligant, and more. However, you do encounter one Pokemon you don't recognize- a giant of a Pokemon, standing over 30ft. tall, and looks like a walking palm tree, with stupid grinning faces on the "coconuts" growing out of the top. Hau indicates that Pokemon with a smile. "See that? That's an Exeggutor. They only grow like that here, in Alola, due to all the sunlight."

Kane arches his head far back to see the top of the pokemon.
"Hmm, a truly noble steed! This creature would be the perfect thing to ride into battle! Hau, how do we own it?"

"Cool!" She nods in agreement with her younger brother. "It would suit your Fa.. euh... sword. I mean." She joked after her brother stated he wanted to ride it.

"Hrm." Ira looks at the giant pokemon appraisingly, particularly the gormless expressions on its heads. "Sticks out a little bit." In a moment of self-awareness, he looks at himself and his siblings. "Though I guess that's not a concern for us. Still, might be a little big for us right now."

Hau shrugs in response to the question. "There's two ways. One, bring an Exeggutor from another region and raise it here for a few years, or just evolve an Exeggcute in Alola." He gestures to the scenery around you as he continues. "There are other regional variants here, besides Exeggutor. The Rattatta family, Marowak, the Sandshrew family, the Vulpix family... quite a few." He smiles at you all. "Of course, that's not including the Pokemon unique to the region as well." He indicates a bouncing, smiling fruit-like Pokemon, helping its trainer hawk fresh fruit to customers.
