The combined lights of the flashlights reveal a long, dark tunnel which makes a steep drop. Following this bend shows hints of large crystalline structures. They line the walls like pillars, the light hitting them guiding you deeper in with their refracted light, painting rainbow patterns on the walls as you continue inwards.
Beatrix notices first that there is a large room coming up, with massive crystals sprouting from the water covered flor to the ceiling, and all around the air is frigid. She also notices various Pokemon flitting about, a group of Bergmite drifting in the waters, some Spoink jumping from crystal to crystal, and a few elusive Sableye lurking about and scattering at the hint of light. The group is now a bout 5 meters higher than the water, and a nearby crystal can serve as a ramp down to the waters.
Buck and Elliot can only spot the Bergmites and Spoink, the Sableye too elusive for them.

Elliot is entranced by the crystal formations, and begins to examine them and the surrounding rock for any hints of shards or fossils. "Hey guys, can we take a break here before we move on? I'd like to see if I can find anything, and this place is perfect for fossil formations!"

Buck, having little interest in pigs or icebergs (already somewhat wary of them after hearing how many shipwrecks they've caused) does nothing with them, and instead inspects the crystal to see if any of them are worth selling.

Beatrix urges Indiana into the water and stands astride the Rhydon's back. Pokemon are such marvels, solid rock being able to swim as it can. She wasn't willing to get in the water herself. With all the bergmite floating about it was likely cold.
"Buck, you're surprisingly calm given all the ghosts in here, specially these gem-eyed, sharp toothed little monsters." Beatrix indicates several of the Sableye with the tip of her rifle. Tapping the back of Indiana's head with her foot, she gestures towards the pillar in the middle of the pond. "Let's go have a look at that girl."

Elliot inspects the "shoreline" of the pond, finding a large piece of slate, and giving it gentle taps yields a splitting and reveals a fine specimen of a fossile. It seems to be part of a skull, with large, hooked teeths. He also scoops up two Red, a Violet, 2 Green, and a Blue shard.
Buck thinks that these crystals are just simple quartz crystals, probably worthless.
The pillar at the middle is also quartz, but she thinks there might be something incased in it, but she can't be certain.

Elliot gives a quiet cheer as he carefully takes some pictures of the fossil for sale, then places it in storage along with the shards. "Alright! Found a fossil, and it looks like it was some kind of predator. Possibly a fish eater. You guys find anything?" he calls out.

Elliot is certain, this is the skull of an Aerodactyl, and a fine specimen at that, no marks of obvious injury and healthy theeth.

Elliot lets out a whoop. "Oh HELL YES! A juvenile Aerodactyl skull! I'll bet there hasn't been one found this well preserved in decades!"

Beatrix moves the beam of her flashlight up the sizeable pillar, trying to get a feel for what's inside. "Indiana, see if you can't chip some of this rock loose, there's something dark at the core of the stone here."

Buck doesn't have much an eye for value, but even he can tell when a rock is just a rock. He sees the careful chiseling of the rock that Beatrix is working at and wanders over. "Seems a lot o' work. May'swell just blow it open instead!" He releases the Koffing who seems...more confused than anything. It was still a bit young to act as a living bomb, probably for the best of everyone.
"Gem critters? Aye, ah know them, there was that one time they-wait I think ah've told this story already. Watch yer pockets, they'll run off with yer jewelry."

Elliot hears the words "blow it open" and dashes for the duo, scrabbling over the different pillars of crystal to get to them. "Do NOT blow anything up in here! The shrapnel alone from the flying crystals would probably shred us, and even if that didn't the crystal dust could shred our lungs if we breathed enough of it in!" Finally getting to the large central pillar, he heaves a sigh of relief at the lack of boom.
"Right, how about you let a professional pair of diggers take a swing at it. And maybe I can tell you what "it" is before we break open some eldritch sealed evil-in-a-can."
He'll carefully release Rotor onto one of the horizontal crystal spires, and turn his attention to the shape within the central pillar, the two of them attempting to figure out what it may be through a combination of tremorsense and educated guesswork.

Chipping at the crystal yields lots of little shards of quartz, but doesn't make a lot of progress. It seems that this crystal is supernaturally fortified. The shape seems to be some kind of creature sleeping within, but seeing the progress so far suggests a lot of time would be necessary to crack the pillar. The shape is small, about as big as a small child, and sporting two tails.

After several long minutes of chipping away, Elliot leans back, wiping at his face. "Okay, so whatever this stuff is, it is not normal quartz. But there's definitely a pokemon in there. About the size of a child, with two tails." He examines the gouges they've managed to create in the spire so far, frowning. "Okay, so if we continue attempting to use standard digging methods, it's going to take a long time to get in there. Like, the better part of half a day. So let's try something a little different..."
He steps to the side, and releases Hoist; the Lileep's head bobbing curiously as it looks around. Elliot points at the spot he and Rotor had been chipping at. "Hoist, I want you to hit that spot with Acid. Rotor, follow up with a Metal Claw. Let's see if we can soften this thing up a little." He looks over at Buck and Beatrix. "If either of you have mon with attacks you'd like to try to break through faster, pick a spot and go at it for a bit. Then we can compare notes."

Swapping out his Koffing for Jack the Mankey, he directs it towards the stone to have a blast at punching it. He had doubts it could shatter the crystal but Jack was a big fan of hitting things, so worse case scenario it could be cathartic for the monkey.
"Alright Koffing, time to blow it up."
Hopefully giving Elliot one last heart attack, buck wanders off with some of the crystal shards that have been knocked off. He scatters them around just at the edge of the darkness as Sableye bait, assuming that was what Beatrix saw. And even if she didn't really see one, better safe than sorry. Appeal to the spirits of the land and they may just leave you, and your wallet, alone.

The crystal takes a bit more damage, chipping some more shards off it, and you start seeing cracks in it. Perhaps some more strikes at vital position. The shape within seems to be having a more rounded head now that some centimeters have been ground off.
Meanwhile Buck tries to lure in Pokemon AGAIN. And again the Pokemon, if they are there, do not take the bait. Perhaps not enticing enough to lure the habitants of this room out into the hated light.

Elliot begins to trace the cracks, looking for points that they seem to be converging towards. He'll direct his mon to begin striking at them. "Okay, looks like we're actually making some progress here. If we can find and start hitting the stress points of the crystal, it'll probably break open all the way. Hmmm, Dot, get some pictures of this, put em up on the boards for sale. Maybe someone will ID our mystery silhouette when they buy them.
Elliot's pokedex quickly complies, and he takes a moment to look over at Buck. "You mentioned that the mon you're after like shiny things? How about trying some of these instead?" He'll dig into his pack and pull out a single red and yellow shard, offering them to Buck. "We'll just say you owe me one if it works, okay?"

Still floating lazily on Indiana, Beatrix shoulders her rifle and looks around the cavern with a measure of concern. "It isn't a fossil... and the likelihood it's actually alive in there is quite slim, do you feel this is a worthy investment of our time? For all we know, it may actually be a danger to us and other creatures in the cave should it even be a living breathing specimen by some stretch of the imagination."

"Aye, ah know they like gold and gems at least. Worth a shot to try these, worst case the buggers don't bite." He tries to lure out one of them carefully with the red shard, hoping the promise of more gems would do the trick. Maybe he should've thought to ask the geologist how to lure a rock-eater out in the first place.

Buck also takes a moment to analyze the creature in the crystal. It was rather unusual, perhaps he had heard a myth or rumor about such a thing...

Buck has indeed heard of myths containing Pokemon encased in crystal. Usually it's powerful Psychic Types that do so as a last resort, a desperate gamble to preserve their lives. Is this one such case? It could be, but there hasn't been much told about people who find them, or their fates.
On the other hand the baiting seems to work, from the dark Buck can see a pair of hexagonal, facetted eyes glaring at him unblinkingly. The posessor seems unsure of what to do with it.
A certain Professor "Juniper" messegaes Elliot." Darling, shall I read the message out loud?"

Elliot pauses. The fact that this had gotten the attention of a Professor was... interesting. "If you would Dot, that'd be appreciated." Even as he pauses, Rotor and Hoist continue to chip away at the crystal column.
