The Corpsagrigus looks the three of you over, and finally it speaks: "Yes, a very sensible choice. You asked me why I can't take care of it myself. The reason is simply that I can't interfere with certain things in here, we have certain rules in these caves. One of them is that we Pokemon may not enter a certain areas. One of these areas is the chamber that a being is trapped in that I send you to "release". You know that Pokemon as Deoxys. But I will not conduct the test myself, I am, to be honest, too busy with putting the dead to rest."
"I will have to send you to a friend of mine, he lives one level beneath me, which means you will need to get to the pit that get's you down a level. There are several, so the choice is yours. For one you can drop down from the magma shaft, there is another in the lake, and one more near where the Steelix resides."
Buck knows of Cofagrigus, they are believed to be the souls of powerful humans of old societies. How this Pokemon looked like this is beyod Buck. Elliot nets 1000$ for his picture of the Corpsagrigus.

Elliot considers for a moment. "Could you give us a bit more detail about each of these pits? What sort of dangers are there, aside from the obvious I mean. And what sort of pokemon might be found in and around them?"

"Do I look like a clairvoyant? Also, you are aware that things do not stay static here? The Steelix is actually a friendly Pokemon actually, as long as you don't stop him from burrowing."

"What you look," Buck interjects, "is thirsty." He holds out an overly large flask to the corpse creature.
"Its only polite to pour out some drink for the dead, but you look like you're able to pour your own!" The sailor hadn't felt so sober in years, but his own booze could wait for now.

"The magma tunnel is possessing of Durant at the very least, and there is also magma to consider, of course. Buck and I just came from there Elliot, and if I recall correctly you already reported a Steelix? I should think we'd want to take the safer options, unless there is an added incentive for the -faster- option, if there even is one."

Elliot scratches his chin. "Personally I'm inclined to take the magma tunnel. I've got a mon that knows some rock attacks already, and if there's possibly fire types down there they'd be very useful down the road I think. I mean, I've got a way to rappel down thanks to Hoist. What about you two?"

"I've a few pokemon that can freely wallclimb, and I'm no slouch when it comes to scaling and rappelling. I'm sure we'll manage. I suppose the magma tunnel it is. This... friend of yours? What do they look like, or have they a name?"

The Corpsagrigus looks at Buck's offer and replies:" You are aware that I am a skeleton, right? Alcohol has no effect on me? But I will humor you."
The creature takes hold of the alcohol flask and grabs some random skull laying about. It fills the cap with alcohol and downs the spirit in one smooth motion, returning the bottle to the sailor.
"Your contact is an Beheeyem, he is an odd one, just to warn you ahead of time. Which way you use is up to you, once you are down one level, you should look for a crystal grotto. He resides there most of the time."

Elliot takes in the odd sight silently, before nodding slowly. "Riiiiiight. Anyway, lets head to the magma tunnel you two were talking about and head for this crystal grotto." His expression lights up slightly at the mention of a "crystal grotto".

Buck looks suspiciously at the corpse as it drinks up the alcohol in one motion.
He'd never seen a ghost that didn't want to curse him or screw him over, but he'd also never seen one drink before.
"Alright then, we can trust it after all."
He'd need to test that "Alcohol has no effect" claim in the future though.
(Buck is ready to proceed to magmaland)

Beatrix shakes her head scornfully in Buck's direction. "Honestly, spirits for spirits? They lack a biology Buck... what point could you have possibly been making?" Beatrix chews her partner's ear off, but follows him and Elliot back to the magma tunnel.

The trip is swift, the path is clear, the Durant still working away. You are standing at the edge of the pit, the hot winds billowing up from the depths. You still see plenty of different passages and holes. The roar coming from down below makes it seem like it's alive, some massive beast sending a challenge to the explorers.

Beatrix looks down the hole for a moment and shakes her head, placing an order for rope and pitons to get her down to the next level, whatever she might gauge the distance as. "You boys ready for a hot climb down?"

Buck gets his climbing gear together and begins to prepare for the trip down.
The slight swagger, and the fact that he nearly trips over his own drunken feet in the process, comforts no one. Nonetheless, Buck is surprisingly agile and attempts to make his way down.

Elliot preps his own ropes and pitons, before bringing out his newly-acquired Ninjada. "Okay buddy, we're gonna be trying something a little dangerous here. But you work with me, andthings will come out alright. I want you to hold on as hard as you can to my pack here, and use your stringshot to help anchor us as I climb down. Got it?"
The Ninjada looks between Elliot, and the fiery pit a few times, trying to see if he's joking. It lets out a defeated "niiiiiin" when it realizes that no, he isn't.
"Relax, we're all gonna be fine!" So saying, Elliot finishes securing the first piton, and begins descending towards the next level of openings in the tube walls.

Cancelling her order for rope, Beatrix opts to simply free climb down Elliot's rope set, Evelyn and Richard skittering along the wall to either side of her. "Hopefully this is more enjoyable then the last time we visited a volcano..."

The descent works as hoped, though Elliots descend looks clumsy and haphazard, though his coleopteran friend helps out with his stringshot. You take the next best hole to crawl in, which is devoid of Durant, which might mean that they have already scoured this cave. It is dark, and damp, rather large, you all fit in there easily. The cave is devoid of other Pokemon, as far as you can tell. What do you do now?

Beatrix turns on her flashlight and returns her Ninjada. She begins deeper into the cave, sweeping the beam of her light from side to side to get a better feel for what they are walking into.

Elliot facefaults as he finally makes it into the tunnel, the Ninjada shaking uncontrollably. "See? What'd I tell you, we're fiiiine. Good job little buddy, take a rest." The Ninjada returns itself with relief, and Elliot releases Highbeam, looking around intently as the little mon illuminates the area.

"You guys think this is the right level? I mean, it was closest to the level we just left, right?" Idly he checks the bidding on the Kabuto, wincing at the steep price but locking in a bid of five-thousand. Hopefully it would be enough, and the little critter would be doubly useful against fire and electric types.3d6
