"This is wildly uncharted territory for me, I have to admit." Cole pipes up, having been somewhat bewildered at all the interaction. He wasn't particularly adept at this whole... multi-personal conversation thing. "I wasn't really much of a Trainer until now. I am nothing but dedicated to my friends, but I never really liked battling very much." He sighs and looks at the Pokeball in his hand. "It seems my friends revel in it however, which should be obvious considering they are Pokemon after all. As for me? I'm... warming up to the concept." Cole steps aside and looks out in the direction from whence they came, the vast wilderness still untouched and calling out to him. He could feel that aching in his veins to reach out to it.
"Now, exploring? That is something I consider my life's work.!"

"Not all of your friends revel in battling, in fact many don't and they simply end up relegated to sitting in labs or back at home, or in the case of many never caught or released. That said, if they dream of evolution, they don't truly have much choice. If you weren't interested in exploration though, you wouldn't be here, there are very few frontiers humans haven't already been to, it seems this is one of them though. The sooner we start, perhaps the more we shall find." Dr Lotus said as she hefted her backpack onto her shoulders ready to leave.

Pulling on his own backpack, Aiden smiles at the Professor. "There is much I can still learn, which is why I am on this journey. Being stuck in a building made it feel like some part of me was missing, even if I brought joy to people and Pokemon by healing them or spending time with them. I guess I am trying to find who I am really am out here. If I can help others then I knew I had to come out here."

When they all made it outside, Orin suggested, "what say we retrace our steps back to where we camped ant take it from there?"

"Sounds good to me," says Aiden as he heads for the door.

Cole winds back an arm and hurls it forward with a toothy grin, presenting his companions with a bombastic thumb's up.

Retracing their previous steps, the group quickly made their way back towards the devestated riverside camp, the scorched bushes still visible as they heard a mournful keening come from behind them.

Cole holds back a hand and shushes, listening intently to the wailing in the near distance. He could feel the grief resonating in his heart, emphatically feeling the pain of its source. He turns that pain into an understanding of what, and why.
((Though I already have a good idea, would like to roll either Intuition or Pokemon Education for Cole to get a grasp of what kind of pokemon is crying out, and what it could mean.))

(OOC: Either would work here I'd say- depends on whether you think he'd have 'learned' it or just 'know' it)

Hearing the sad sounds from the bushes, Aiden's heart seems to break a little. "Do you think it's the mother missing her babies? Were any of the little ones seriously injured when we ran?" He starts to inch closer towards the bushes to see if he can see what's wrong.

Genki thinks it might be the mama Ursaring, and call out Minor. "Sorry if we scared you earlier, but you're looking quite healthy now. Your family might be around, and I think it's a good idea to let them know that you are OK."

"What else could it be?" Cole continues to listen, heart aching at the noise. "Losing children, I can only imagine the pain she must feel."4d6

"I was doing it to turn the tides, besides, look how cute Minor is. I bet we'll be fast friends. Maybe mama will be happy to see her kids doing well."

"Come on out, Major," says Aiden as he releases his Teddiursa from its ball. Crouching down to be eye level with the Pokemon, "Hey buddy. It sounds like your mom is upset. Do you want to check on her? If anyone needs help, let me know..." He slowly reaches for the Teddiursa and gently pats it on the head with a smile on his face.

As Genki released Minor, the group quickly came to the surmation that these sounds were those of the mother Ursaring, her home having been attacked and at least two of her children having been taken. Though the sounds were certainly different from her angry cries a few hours earlier, there was definitely a similar note within them and a suggestion that it was her rather than anything else.
"Well, perhaps we should give her a wide berth for a while, her wounds are probably still hurting and two of her children have been taken away. Maybe things will be better in a few days, at least when the berries have grown back, and you have gained some experience?" Dr Lotus added, gesturing further away from the small settlement rather than towards the area where they had encountered the Ursa family.

"I think, if she could see her kids it would sooth her some. I doubt she would attack them, and knowing they are OK. and the we will be taking care of them with go a ways to mending her heart."

"Perhaps, but she is also an enraged mother, that might make things more difficult for us too. She might try to rescuse or regain them, remember, this island hasnot seen the partnership with people before, it is much newer for them." Dr Lotus responded, giving an alternative viewpoint.

"I guess you're right, Professor... I know when I was leaving to come here, my mother didn't want me to go..." Aiden crouches down and holds his hand out for Major to take. "We're going to give your mom some space and come back and visit her on our way back, okay? I promise." Recalling Major, Aiden stands and starts backing away from the loud bushes. "I wish there was a way to see if the other Teddiursa are okay... If they're not used to fighting with a trainer's Pokemon, they could still be injured."

Genki, sighed. He didn't like leaving the mother in pain, and could see signs in Minor that she was unsettled too. She looked with concern towards the sounds. Crouching down to meet eyes with Minor, Genki reassuringly touched her shoulders. "I know your worried about mom, but our friends say that going over could hurt her more right now, or even us. We have to trust in friends; we're a team."
He tucked his hands under each of her arms and lifter her up into an embrace. To the others, "I'm not completely convinced, but I believe you've got a point, and I'm good with it." To Cole, "that sit alright with you?"

"I might not be right, but a little space certainly won't do any harm. Remember, nature is pretty harsh a lot of the time, the species in our home regions are used to us and the safe lives that we provide them. These will be much more used to hardship but also perhaps a little less tame than we would be expecting." Dr Lotus added as both Major and Minor looked somewhat angrily at their new trainers, it seemed that they weren't as happy or excited as their trainers were.
